Google
Outstanding service and delicious food. It was our first time trying Kusina and the staff ensured we had a great experience. Eric gave us samples to try, made recommendations and explained the menu. The food is very flavorful and there are various options to choose from. I recommend the pancit, the pork menudo, the lumpias and the tapioca jackfruit sald as dessert. The place is very clean and very well kept. We will definitely go back.

Google
Authentic and delicious Filipino cuisine. Friendly staff and a very relaxed atmosphere make a perfect breakfast or lunch spot. The attached market seems to be getting some remodeling at the moment so they have a small selection of goods but they have all the necessities for making ethnic Filipino food at home. I will be back to try more menu items next time!

Google
Pancit and lumpia are very, very delicious. I also had their bistek and it was good, tender meat. The sauce it was in was a bit too salty for me but overall, 👍👍👍.

Google
I really enjoyed the fried rolls and the noodles! The meat is very good as well but for me the sauce became overwhelming after a while. It’s a nice place to try and I’m excited to go back!

Google
I've been here twice, my husband has been here more times, haha. The food is delicious, the people are super friendly and helpful. If it's your first time trying Filipino food, they let you sample so you get what you really want. Everything tastes delicious. Definitely our new spot to eat.

Google
Great part of one of the only cities in the RGV that has foreign food available. And it's great too. A nice market on top of it. More of what we need here! This one has been here for a while thankfully. Hopefully we continue fostering a multi-ethnic community that gives us access to a variety of amenities. Makes us a more attractive region and definitely more accessible to everyone.

Google
Soooo good 😍 my friend brought me here, she said the food is very authentic and reminds her of home 💝 I ordered chicken adobo, pancit, pork dinuguan, and fried garlic rice. The pork dinuguan was my favorite!! My friend ordered beef tapa, it was soo tender and juicy. I also ordered sugar palm Halo-Halo for dessert and it was delicious 😋

Google
I love the desert/ice cream they serve here, it's called Halo-halo it's amazing, it has like multiple different kind of desserts and sweets into one cup. For lunch my favorite meat is lechón kawali, get it if they have it. I also enjoy their bread/dessert called Put0( yes I know), it's delicious. Overall I would recommend the Filipino food from here.

Blake B.

Yelp
Phenomenal service and food every time I've come; the owners are friendly, and have given me good recommendations. Clean and organized, as well. I love the music they usually have playing, and appreciate the market side of the building.

Matthew V.

Yelp
Food is absolute amazing good. Must try! Staff is friendly as well. And inside is very clean.

Yelp
When I moved to McAllen a couple summers back, I was eager to find local spots for all my different food cravings. One of my friends here introduced me to Kusina. And I'm so glad they did. It's so great to be able to eat familiar foods like lumpia, adobo, and pancit. If you're in the mood for authentic Filipino food, I can't recommend Kusina enough.
google avatar

Discovereez U.

Yelp
Kusina is soooo good, a solid 9/10 for legit Filipino food. Pancit, lumpia, lechon, pork and chicken adobo, and my favorite pork dinuguan! Super friendly and kind owners, and all the food is made with love, you can taste it in every bite!!

Gilberto G.

Yelp
The food is delicious and everybody working is always very polite and welcoming. Make sure to bring you appetite because these plates are definitely filling!
google avatar

Phoebe W.

Yelp
Thank you Kusina for cooking food that makes me feel like I'm back at home. Your food is delicious. Your staff are so kind. There's always room for me to dine-in. And the restaurant is always kept clean. This is the best restaurant in McAllen, in my opinion.
google avatar

Yelp
First time here. Food was not good at all. Sweet spaghetti? Definitely a no for me. Fried chicken and pork belly was really dry. Lumpia and pancit was ok. Not trying to be mean but I don't think I'll try Filipino food again.
google avatar

Yelp
I am that type of person who really enjoys eating different food from different cultures. So there I am waiting in line ordering right? Wow, these Filipino people made me feel like if i am at home. Really great customer Service. Notice that this was my first time visiting the area. Even samples were provided for so I can try a taste of everything. Overall, as I am ordering; I order pork adobo and Beef Lumpia; Oh my gosh, The taste of the pork. I can't even describe it at this point since it's just too gawd dayum good. The lumpia as well was made very fresh. If you are looking for something sweet after your meal, I recommend you trying the halo halo. Really great dessert to wash it down. (Don't forget to mix it) whenever you get the halo halo.
google avatar

Josias C.

Yelp
Tastes like home. I wonder if my grandmother is back in the kitchen. Plenty of options to choose and breakfast all day! Plenty of space for families. I will have to visit the store when I have more time. An all you can eat brunch might be too much to ask, but I can only hope.
google avatar

Yelp
Kusina Asian Market was a little gem of a foodstore and restaurant. Although it's off the main street a bit, its well worth the hunt to find it. its right next to the NAPA Store, so the parts crew have a great place to get some tasty lunches. Catherine makes her guests feel like family. It's a cozy size , but her inventory for Filipino Food is impressive. Locals all know this is the place to find treasures and treats.
google avatar

Mayra A.

Yelp
We tried this place because of Groupon and I'm so glad we did. The food was really. We ordered their spam meal, teriyaki chicken, and what was described to me as menudo. All the food was really good. It tasted like it was home cooked They'll give you samples too Incase you want to taste before you order. The guy working the counter was great helping me pick out his favorites (he didn't steer me wrong). Will be making this one of my new spots! Ps try the

Yelp
I don't eat much Filipino food, but when I do, it better have a good breakfast that includes tosino and garlic rice. And for lunch/dinner: lechon kawali, pork BBQ sticks, lumpia. The best part of Kusina, all day breakfast! So naturally, that means I ordered all the items mentioned. We came around 11:30 on a Sunday, I worried it would be crowded, but it looks like we beat the after church rush! The all day breakfast menu is quite extensive, any Filipino breakfast you can think of, they had it. The tosilog with garlic rice was good! The meat was sweet tasting and fatty, just as it normally is. The lechon kawali was very crispy! There is a self-serve sauces area where you can get the lechon sauce, mang tomas. The pork BBQ sticks were excellent! Tender and sweet to the taste. Lumpia was also good, sweet chili sauce also available at the self serve area. Extra white rice was free. The restaurant was clean, bathrooms clean, service was friendly. I wish every town had a Kusina!

Yelp
After checking the hours listed on Yelp, I drove over from Harlingen, arriving at 8 PM. The doors were locked, and the employees were cleaning and closing out the restaraunt for the day. What a disappointment.
google avatar

Pro Drivers G.

Yelp
Gets Mom's thumbs up for their lechon, pancit and dinuguan, a rare rating from one of the most critical "Asian tiger moms" in the USA. She kept asking about the lechon that the staff even gave a few more pieces to sate her appetite lol! For less than $8, you get two entrees , rice and pancit, enough to more than feed two people. You can also purchase snack foods like mamon and puto. (There's also a Filipino store attached.) The restaurant is located in N. McAllen. Although it's less than four miles from the hospitals, offices and shopping centers in south Mcallen, it takes almost half an hour to travel here, but the drive is well worth it, not only in the quality of the foods, but the affordability of their offerings. We continue our weekly quest to find Asian restaurants that match those found in the SF Bay Area.
google avatar

Juvie C.

Yelp
Finally got to try some Filipino food in the valley. I ordered the garlic fried rice, lechon kawali, and bifstek. Ghe bifstek was delicous, but the lechon and rice that i ordered looked like it was not fresh. I think u get unlimited rice with your meal. 2 entrees with rice plus a bottled water cost me under $9. The portions I received were pretty light. In Houston, I can get 2 entrees, unlimited soup, and unlimited rice with a drinka nd dessert for the same price. The lady serving me did not know what the different entrees were called or what was in them. Will likely not return.

Yelp
Filipino cuisine is virtually non-existent in FW so I was glad to happen on this place while visiting McAllen. This place is considered fast food and you can choose your combos. They have an array of filipino dishes ranging from pinakbet to bistek. They also have all day filipino breakfast with the likes of spamsilog, tapsilog, and chicksilog. I had the chicksilog (pictured) which was tasty. It comes with garlic fried rice, a side of cucumbers and tomatoes and sunny side up eggs. The garlic fried rice could've been more garlicky, IMO. The chicken itself was good - crunchy on the outside. Any fil-am knows a good companion to filipino food is the sauces! They have an area for sauces - fish sauce, spiced datu puti, and some good ol' banana ketchup. I am definitely coming back to try some of the other items. Note: there is a short wait for the breakfast food.

Yelp
Amazing authentic food. Quite affordable. Friendly owner. Couple of seafood options make it more yummy!

Yelp
So I decided to take 2 hours lunch break to go check out this place with one of my coworkers. He was a little nervous at first, not knowing what to expect, all he knows was it's gonna be Asian food, and that makes him even more on edge for the fact that he might stand out too much being so white (we live in America for god's sake!) After I parked the car, we were not sure where to go, whether a little to the right toward the back of the parking lot to where it says "Kusina Restaurant & Market", or straight ahead to "Kusina Restaurant". While we were still trying to decide, this one random Asian guy started walking toward us and asked if we ever been here before, and pointed us to go in to "Kusina Restaurant". We started following him inside, turned out, he's one of the employees there. Moving on to the fun part, food!!! What we came for! The server was EXTREMELY helpful and friendly! He must have given us about 10 different samples all together to try out. I swear we were getting close to being full after all the samples. However, my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I decided to get the combo with 1 side of noodles, 1 pork entrée, 1 beef entrée, as well as another order of crispy pork, and 20 lumpias (they were tiny, really!), a tapioca drink. He must have noticed how starving we were when we came in, so decided to pile extra food on everything we ordered. I knew that because he came to our table later on and kinda whispered "normally there's not this much food when you order, so next time when you come in and I'm not here, don't be alarmed". Right on dude! Everything was very tasty regardless of how fatty all the meat was. For the price that you pay for at this place ($24 total for everything I ordered), don't be an ass and complain too much. The food is good, the service is excellent. If you don't like your meat to be too fatty, well use a fork or knife and cut off the fatty part!

Yelp
So we went December 2021, not sure if it was the time frame (THE RONA) or what but the food was cold, soggy and pricy. Because it was sitting there for who knows how long and not warm, the grease was super thick. There was a new girl at the time...or something but my husband asked her what a dish was (he's filipino) and she had no idea lol. I'm not, so I get the basic pancit and spring rolls. I was pretty excited to show him this place but once we stepped in I already knew it wasn't going to be a good experience because no one was in there and there were flies buzzing. It was so far though and we were already there so might as well try it out. Not sure if we'd try it out again, think we'd just make the food oursleves...

Kristell S.

Yelp
If you are looking for Philippine food, this is the right place. They have pantsit, rice, menudo, lechón, lumpias, adobo, desserts and more. Also you can order big trays for events or dinners at home or work. I had a big deal from Groupon so I bought a $12 dlls coupon valid for $20 dlls in the restaurant for plates to go. So I got 2 plates with 3 different portions each one and 2 different desserts. At the end I just paid like $4 dlls. Not bad..

There Goes M.

Yelp
Super delicious and affordable!!! I've been to many Filipino restaurants from Corpus Christi to San Antonio! But this is the best with convenient prices to share with family. Loved all the meats and the pan it was amazing!

C M.

Yelp
The food is amazing! We sampled everything, and I recommend that you do the same. The service was great! The gentleman who helped us was very friendly and enthusiastic about the restaurant which gave this place an inviting ambiance. We will definitely be coming back.

Gabriela B.

Yelp
The pancit and chicken adobo is always delicious. Although my favorite is their lumpia. Affordable and the portions are generous, my favorite spot for Filipino food.
google avatar

Dan K.

Yelp
Great food! My go to order is always the chicken adobo, beef steak, garlic rice, and an order of lumpia! Like any place it has its less than ideal time to go to, towards end of the day. Great to go in the morning, and for lunch!

Marissa S.

Yelp
Delicious Filipino cuisine. Prices are very fair with big portions. Love the pancit!!!!
google avatar

Isobel I.

Yelp
Quick & convenient place to satisfy a Filipino breakfast craving. Called in an order of cornsilog breakfast (Filipino corned beef with potatoes, paired with garlic rice & a fried egg with fresh slices tomatoes & cucumber) laid on top of a banana leaf and two pieces of pork longganisa.
google avatar

Lisa A.

Yelp
Kusina has become one of the places we just have to hit on each trip to McAllen! The food is super flavorful and they give you samples. On this visit we we're happy to discover that the food is now labled! Try the pork lumpia, pancit and the chayote squash!
google avatar

Brandon K.

Yelp
This is a hidden Gem of Filipino food tucked quietly away in the RGV. Food is authentic and delicious and staff is very friendly. Great selection. I was disappointed that by the time I arrived the customer 2 in front of me ordered all of the Lechón and there was none left :(. But I've had it before and it's very delicious. All the food here brings me back to my roots in Hawaii. A must for anyone seeking Filipino food in the RGV
google avatar

Joshua T.

Yelp
Great food at the right price. Very friendly staff and a nice selection in their market section. Clean and a welcoming atmosphere.
google avatar

Ken L.

Yelp
I'd always been kind of nervous about eating here even though I've had Filipino food before and enjoy it. After reading some positive reviews here we decided to give it a try and must say we were very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is clean and very cozy. Annie attended us and was extremely friendly and gave us samples of most of the items on the menu - each one was fantastic. I highly recommend the garlic rice, pancit, bistek, and adobo pork/chicken. I can't wait to go back and try more items!

Leopoldo N.

Yelp
This is probably the cleanest and well managed Asian restaurant in the area the server was well informed and explained the food selection. Very accommodating with samples. It has a great selection of Filipino food. This place will not disappoint...
google avatar

Jeremy G.

Yelp
Once I walked in this place I knew the food was going to be legit. The tables were full, the food smelled really good, and they even had The Filipino Channel on the TV. I had the pancit, humba, and pinakbet and it was all authentic and delicious. The humba was was my favorite; it was pure porky deliciousness. The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars is because they didn't have any lechon :(. I heard from a colleague that they serve lechon every Saturday and so I wanted to check it out. But apparently the one guy that makes the lechon was in the Philippines when I visited. Needless to say, I was pretty bummed out. During my brief stay here in the valley, it's been hard finding authentic Asian food. But with all the Filipinos that live down here I knew there had to be a good Filipino place. If you want good authentic Filipino food, this place knows what they're doing.
google avatar

Whitney P.

Yelp
I have been here on three occasions and the staff is always friendly and quick with their service. I really enjoy the Halo Halo dessert, I've had it twice and was really excited that I found that in the valley. We both enjoy the Siopao's in both chicken and pork. I enjoyed the lumpia and egg rolls, but most of the food is seasoned way different than I'm used to so I didn't enjoy it as much as I should. I plan on returning again for the food, it was overall good and well prepared and they are very generous with their portions.
google avatar

Ryan R.

Yelp
My brother and his family live in McAllen, and I discovered this little gem cause I had a craving for halo halo. I would say I vacation in Texas for two reasons, my family and Kusina. First off the food is absolutely bomb. You will not be disappointed. I had the beef caldereta, and adobo. Flipping perfect. My brother got the lancet and lechon. I mean jeez even writing this is making my mouth water. The staff is super friendly and I really enjoyed myself. Lastly, I felt appreciated. One of the servers, I'm not sure of her name but she has short hair dyed reddish? She was so nice, and even recognized my niece from a mutual friends snap chat. I thought that was a nice social gesture and really appreciated that my brother has Filipino food away from home. Keep doing what you are doing Kusina! Love all the way from Colorado!

Nicole S.

Yelp
amazing Filipino food and the tastiest desserts!! they have great breakfast as well!!
google avatar

Jackie G.

Yelp
Insanely good and homemade. They let us sample whatever we wanted and were very helpful on xmas eve
google avatar

Josh C.

Yelp
I got a great deal on groupon and tried this place. I was skeptic but the taste of everything and the kind staff really won me over, to be completly honest the food looks un appetizing but give it a shot because it tastes amazing. I have gone enough times to try several different things and i cant even keep up with all the dishes that are just soo great. So if you wanna try something new and different but still a bit spicy like mexican food, give kusina a shot. You wont regret it
google avatar

Ash M.

Yelp
I was a first-timer and they let me sample whatever I wanted before ordering. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. VERY GENEROUS portions. Respectful and accommodating to my preference against meat. Food was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Lemme tell ya. I'll definitely be coming back to try more entrees.
google avatar

Ferdie J.

Yelp
Since arriving in McAllen, Texas from Hawaii, I was hungry for Filipino food. Googled and surprisingly, there was one about 4 miles from my hotel. The Kusina Filipino Restaurant did not disappoint at all! Just like home! Great food and I've been back three times now. Check it out if your in the area.
google avatar

Celina P.

Yelp
Had a great first experience Filipino meal here. My son loved the pancit and I loved the chicken dishes. We will be back!

Melina P.

Yelp
Delicious and the staff is so friendly. If you are new or not familiar with the fold they will happily explain. Amazing experience- very popular with the community. Thank you for all your hard work!
google avatar

Emme P.

Yelp
Since moving to the valley I've been craving good asian food. It's cafeteria style, and they let you sample the dishes. The beef stew is my favorite so far but everything has been really flavorful. I'm afraid to know the ingredients bc I become really thirsty after eating here. Oh well it's worth it. And they give you so much food there will be leftovers for next day. My one complaint is that they use styrofoam here. I think it's a valley thing but it's all very wasteful. I think next time I come, I'll bring my own bowl and plate.
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Awesome food . Friendly workers . The food was amazing I recommend the pancit and the sinigag
google avatar

Lou Lou O.

Yelp
Really tasty and somewhat similar to Mexican food. Loved everything I tried. Favorites were the menudo (not the Mexican type), adobo and the desserts. I tried 2 different desserts and the best was the one with cassava. Try something new today!
google avatar

Ivelisse A.

Yelp
As a Filipino moving to South Texas, it was s a genuine surprise to find a great tasting Filipino restaurant here. I definitely recommend the tapsilog, cornsilog, and the pansit. Brought back memories. I usually go here when I'm too lazy to cook but craving Filipino food. Amazing place to go for first timers. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Sofia S.

Yelp
Very nice, quiet, clean, establishment. It was my first time there and the lady at the counter was very helpful. Everything was delicious and the combo was only 6.99 with a choice of two items and rice as well. We ordered three combos and it was more than enough for our family of five with leftovers to go. We will definitely go back!
google avatar

Jerry J.

Yelp
We don't normally eat Filipino food so this was kind of new for us. But it was awesome, very different from the sweet syrupy Chinese food in town. The workers were very friendly and let's us try almost everything there to see what we liked. All of the entrees were awesome. Plus the prices were really good. We will definitely be going back. This food really filled us up and we had to take a lot home, but I'm looking forward to the leftovers.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
My wife recently brought me home a plate from this establishment. The pansit with chicken was excellent. The egg rolls were great also. Overall the quality was excellent. I am looking forward to visit this place and experiencing more from their menu.
google avatar

Andrew A.

Yelp
I don't typically feel much deserves five stars, but here we are. The staff was wonderful and let us try everything before we chose what to eat. I ended up having the pork and my wife a beef dish- both were excellent! The spring rolls and sides is where it's at! We also had a sticky rice desert that was incredible! If you're looking for a great place to stop by you should check it out!
