Great service, fantastic food, creative sushi rolls. Good for a big group to get something cool and festive, such as their ‘sushi boats’. We had an absolute blast trying to finish the 4 foot yacht, it was an awesome night. Highly recommend giving this place a try, ideally with a group

I have been going to the resturant and ordering take out from it for years, and I am not sure if they changed management a few months ago or stopped getting quality food, but the last couple orders of tuna sushi have been soft and dark and squishy. Last week was the final straw, it was actually spoiled. I took one bite and spit it out. I figured I would continue to order dumpling and other items which I did tonight. I ordered four orders of dumplings, they dumped them in two containers and there was only 21 dumplings, not 24. The edamame was pasty and soft which means they were old beans or overcooked. I now have to find a new place for sushi. Its such a bummer, they used to be so good.

The food and service were both good. The Sake Bomb is worth trying if you are a beer drinker. This restaurant offers sushi, udon, shrimp tempura with vegetable just to name a few because that's what my party tried. There is street parking as well as garage parking. The garage parking is free up to two hours and this was on a Friday night. The outside atmosphere surrounding the restaurant is very attractive. I captured some extra footage of outside as well. I recommend trying this restaurant if your are ever in the Pike & Rose area.

Cedric the bartender was phenomenal as always! He’s served us three times now and each time has been a blast! He’s personable, thoughtful, and courteous. We had the Salaryman, Lychee Cosmo, and Yuzu Mule and all were great! We got the hand roll off the happy hour menu, the Firecracker roll, and the Pinstripes roll and they were all delicious.

Went to celebrate my friend’s birthday in kusshi Pike & Rose. Each piece of sushi in the sushi boat was fresh, thick and tasty. The Uni was the best! 😋 My friend loved the Ovi roll too. This place is a must-visit for sushi lovers. 💖 The restaurant looks cozy, simple, but beautiful. We all enjoyed the vibe.

The experience at Kusshi was outstanding. I started with the volcano roll and was undecided on my next choice. The server provided an excellent recommendation, suggesting the tiger roll. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the sushi tasted incredibly fresh. This was honestly the best sushi I've had in a long time. While it was on the expensive side, the quality was well worth the price. I will definitely be returning.

We had an amazing experience at Kusshi Pike & Rose, thanks to our server, Tommy! From the moment we sat down, he was incredibly warm and easy to talk to. He gave us fantastic recommendations—we ended up loving every dish he suggested. What really stood out was how attentive he was throughout the entire meal without ever being overbearing. Excellent service from start to finish. If you go, definitely ask for Tommy—you’ll be in great hands!

We love coming to Kusshi! We tried a couple new rolls today including the dessert roll which was light and so delicious. Tommy was our server and really made our experience. He made us laugh and gave us excellent service!

Kusshi is well known in the area for how consistent and good they are. and I'm slowly visiting every one. After my other favorite restaurant closed down I needed a pick me up. The service is always fast, good and attentive. My family and I stopped in at noon on a Sunday and were immediately escorted to a table. Our server was Karen and gave us time to order without rushing us. As soon as she saw our menus were set down, she appeared. I had the dragon roll and it was great. All of the flavors were balanced well and would recommend it. The agedashi tofu was a highlight for my vegetarian daughter along with the asparagus roll. To make it vegan/vegetarian, the agedashi tofu couldnt come with a sauce so my suggestion would be to have an alternative sauce, literally ANY vegetarian sauce to go with it and it's fire. The vegan ramen took longer than the sushi but that's to be expected. It was delicious and would recommend for vegetarians. Lots of toppings and lots of noodles. My lone complaint would be the lighting. Very dark for middle of the day. Food was great, service was great, would prefer it to be a bit brighter at the table.

Very upset by my doordash order. The ikura salmon Roe looked beautiful but upon contact with my tongue it was bursts of sour and extremely fishy. The miso Soup container had dish soap on the sides and I still can't get the dish soap taste out of my mouth!!!! The hamachi collarbone was overcooked. The rolls have no consistency with rice:fish ratio. The silver spring location is much better...

I ordered Kusshi Sushi via Uber Eats, and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I love shumai and sushi. The reviews seemed favorable, so off I went to order my favorite dishes. I ordered shrimp shumai and the Bethesda Roll. The shrimp shumai was horrid. They were so small. I called them "popables"...just pop them in your mouth and done. They were served steamed with no amount of flavor. I prefer for shrimp shumai to be medium / large with pieces of shrimp you can actually taste. I've had shumai with robust ginger flavors as well. All of what I thought was customary for shrimp shumai was non-existent with Kusshi Sushi's version. Eating it, along with the lack of presentation, left much to be desired. I would never get this dish again. The Bethesda Roll was typical -- tuna, salmon and avocado. There was nothing memorable about it. Just sushi. Although my Kusshi Sushi experience was via Uber Eats, I think all experiences -- regardless if takeout or dine-in -- should leave a good impression. Unfortunately for Kusshi Sushi, I wouldn't try it again.

Thursday 1/2/2025 I've never had a real authentic sushi experience so my friend Tyler recommended the firecracker roll from kusshi sushi. I made an online order through uber eats and got the takoyaki $9, Kusshi seared fatty salmon belly (nigiri) $11, pan-fried pork gyoza $11, Kusshi wings $14, and the firecracker roll $17. - the firecracker roll was a first time experience for me and it was alright (I still don't see the sushi hype). - The salmon nigiri was also a new item for me and it was pretty good. It had a sweet & savory type of sauce that really elevated the taste. - Takoyaki (octopus balls) is once again another item I had never tried before and they were a nice surprise. They were topped with flakes and a sweet, savory white sauce & brown sauce that complimented it well. - The kusshi wings were pretty good but could've benefited from the wings being more moist by saucing them a bit more (the sauce was good). Didn't realize until after but $14 for 6 wings is pretty ridiculous. Wings should not be more than $2 per wing. - The pork gyoza (pan-fried) was alright but none special. Overall, the food was pretty decent but also very EXPENSIVE when you consider some of the portions received.

Very nice atmosphere and welcoming service. Non pretentious and pleasant also to go with kids.The shop selling the products is a nice touch. :) Food was great, and the beer too. Miso soup was greatly homogeneous and tasty, pan fried pork gyoza had a great texture in the mouth and was flavorful. Shrimp shumai was soft and tasty, I'd order all of it again. Next time I would really like to find someone e to share the suhi boat with!!! Looks so inviting :)

So I've been here a handful of times now! Most recently was actually back in May but I found another location opened up in Rockville which is nice. My go to was always the red skins roll but their sashimi is also always a good option. Service was really good even when it was busy. Our servers checked in my table with my friends several time for beverage refills and any additional orders we wanted to place. It's a casual restaurant but also a good option for a semi-casual date night (nothing fancy). Recommendation would to have them add something unique to their menu (possibly even seasonal). With all the sushi restaurants in the area it gets challenging to stand out.

Stopped by Kusshi for their 20% 6 year anniversary special. I was greeted and sat right when I came in and service was quick the entire time. they have indoor , outdoor and bar seating. I ordered the Redskins roll which was really good and fresh. They have a parking deck that is free for the first two hours which is very convenient

Located in Pike & Rose so there's limited street parking but right next to a garage that's free under 2 hours. We went on a Friday evening so had to wait for a bit. Once we got seated, our server was very attentive during the whole dining experience. We got the Maryland roll as appetizer then shoyu ramen and pork katsu as our main dish, and finished off with the Nutella roll as our dessert. Everything was very yummy and especially note worthy was the pork katsu. They were VERY generous with the amount of katsu, a whole 2 layers! It was very busy, very lively inside making it a great Friday evening dining spot.

We came in for lunch last week. We started with the shumai and seaweed salad - traditional and good. My mom had the udon noodles with shrimp and veggie tempura. The broth was just ok but the noodles and tempura were very good. I also had the spicy tuna roll which was really good. I didn't love the firecracker roll as it was heavy on the imitation crab although the server said it was very popular.

I've been to Kusshi a handful of times since they opened at Pike and Rose. The food has always been delicious, but the service has been iffy. Most recently, my friend and I sat at their outdoor dining space. The service was extremely slow and my food came out a good 15-20 minutes before my friend's. The prices are also a little higher compared to other Asian-based restaurants around the area. You're paying for the ambiance, but if your group is all getting food at different times, it can hurt the vibe.

After missing out on a group happy hour here (my coworkers now love this place) I was finally was able to stop by again to dine in. They have outdoor and indoor seating and an Asian snack shop in the corner which we do frequent when we're in the area. The indoor lighting is on the dim side, but I didn't mind that (I only took notice when I was trying to take food pics While the prices do seem high at first, you do get a lot of good quality food. We ordered the takoyaki, 9 piece nigiri sampler, Sunset roll, chilled green tea soba with shrimp and vegetable tempura, and Nutella roll. There is so much on the menu so even the pickiest eater is bound to find something they like. Also, kudos to having the cold soba option. My kid loves soba but is not a fan of hot soba on summer days. Service is great, people are attentive. The food came out all at once so no one was waiting for someone else's food to come (and the Nutella roll came out later as a dessert). When they realized my daughter was working very hard to use chopsticks, they provided a little plastic contraption that clips on to the chopsticks to provide some tension. The takoyaki was done well with the center not too gooey as in some places. There's plenty of sauce and wavy bonito flakes on top. The fish on the nigiri were fresh and there was not too much rice. The soba comes with a dollop of wasabi on top and I think seven spice in the dipping sauce. Since my child wasn't a fan of the spice, they brought some plain sauce for her with no fuss. The tempura. Get it. It's crispy and flavorful. I've been used to eating Costco shrimp tempura and I feel some restaurants use it, but not Kusshi! The way the tempura was crunchy and light can only be made fresh. Writing this makes me want more. The Nutella roll was fun. It's like a mango fruit leather wrapped around a banana topped with chocolate, Nutella, whipped cream, Oreo crumbles, and sliced strawberries. It was not too sweet and we appreciated the effort that must have gone into making this row.

Service was fine. Food tasted okay. The pork in the ramen was cooked really well. The portion size was kind of small for the price.

This is the second time at this restaurant and I love that they have a Groupon for $30 off if you purchase it $15. The food is excellent. I ordered the Maryland and the Phoenix roll and edamame. My friend ordered Ramen soup with chicken . I ordered the teriyaki chicken w extra sauce on the side. the only reason it's getting minus one star is the teriyaki chicken is dark meat only and it was a little chewy. I was wondering if it was undercooked. The Sapporo beer is a nice addition. our waitress was a good server and the place was busy. Highly recommend going here. It's also nice to eat outside if the weather is good.

I recently tried Kusshi after hearing so much hype about it from friends and overall I had a good time. I ordered the phoenix roll, fire cracker roll, spicy tuna roll, and seared spicy salmon roll. While the specialty rolls were a bit on the pricey side at about $16.50 each, the quality was definitely there. The sushi was fresh, and I really liked their wasabi--it had a nice, strong kick! The only downside was the takoyaki. It came out warm on the outside but frozen on the inside, which was pretty disappointing. I sent it back, and they brought out a new batch that was warm throughout, which was much better. Despite the takoyaki mishap, I really enjoyed the sushi at Kusshi. The flavors were great, and the fish was fresh and tasty. If you're willing to spend a bit more for quality sushi, Kusshi is worth a visit. I have heard their ramen is the best here, so next time I am in the area, I will have to give it a try!

Food Fresh and presentation nice. Server very knowledgeable of menu. Could have been a little more attentive to clearing table of empty plates and glasses.

I went here for a late night bite. Had their chicken wings firecracker roll and a coconut drink. Everything was pretty good. I never had sushi before so this is all new to me. The wings were ok at best. No real wow factor just your average wings, the drink was really good, not too sweet which is a plus. Lastly the sushi was pretty good, for this to be my first one I was pleasantly surprised. The spicy sauce def added a good amount of heat to it.

Good sushi in the new shopping area in Rockville. Nothing special but good solid sushi. There isn't a sushi bar but that may have changed then never returned from COVID.

We were greeted instantly and served by Nataly who was amazing. She was very attentive and even offered us recommendations. Checked up on us to make sure we liked our food and was so sweet. The atmosphere is great for small and larger get togethers. Get the mochi when you come here!!!

Shumai was not horrible. They're not bad, but it just doesn't taste like shrimp. Perhaps you'd be better off getting these from a dim sum restaurant.

My wife and I consider their ramen one of the best in the DC area. So, this review will be about their sushi. We went on a Tuesday evening. It wasn't busy. We were seated in the back of the dining room, where it was dark and not visible from the front. Sit at the front of the restaurant if you want light. Their sushi menu had 4 pages. I am not a big fan of raw fish. The selection of sushi that had no uncooked fish is limited to tiger roll, volcano roll, shrimp tempura roll, spider roll, troy roll, Baltimore roll, dragon roll, white dragon roll, crunchy roll, lava roll, pinstripes roll, got beef roll, rolls with just vegetable, and all California rolls. We got 4 rolls. All 4 rolls were placed on a plate with some wasabi and ginger slices. 1) Got Beef Roll It had katsu fried A5 wagyu beef, shitake, and avocado topped with seared A5 wagyu, japanese mayo, tobiko, and Kizami wasabi. It had 8 pieces. A5 waygu is the highest grade of waygu beef. There was breaded wagyu inside with slightly sweet shitake. The wagyu beef was savory, soft, and moist; however, the seared wagyu on top was excessively oily in a thick and gooey way. Too much cornstarch coating on the beef? Tobiko is flying fish eggs. It was tiny, red, and crunchy with a mild smoky and salty flavor. Overall, this was savory, sweet, salty, and mildly spicy. Great savoriness and depth of flavor!! The oil, sweetness, and gooey texture kept this dish from being topnotch. 2) Baltimore Roll It had avocado, lump crabmeat, and Old Bay seasoning. The crabmeat was shredded. There were light flavors of crabmeat and Old Bay with almost no avocado flavor. The piece of avocado was so small that its flavor was buried in the others. We love crab and Old Bay, so this was good, but not special. 3) Phoenix Roll It had shrimp tempura and avocado topped with spicy tuna, masago, spicy mayo, and shredded sweet potato. The topping had a thin slice of raw tuna topped with masago. Masago is capelin fish eggs. The masago was mushy and slightly salty. The shrimp tempura was excellent in taste and texture. Overall, it was spicy, somewhat savory, and mildly salty with balanced flavors of shrimp, fish, and avocado. This was the most flavorful and interesting roll in our order. 4) Smoked Salmon and Asparagus Roll It had smoked salmon and asparagus wrapped with nori and rice. The asparagus was peeled and blanched. It had little flavor. The smoked salmon was good quality with a typical flavor. Average overall. The service was polite, very patient, and responsive. It took 20 minutes for our order to be made. The dining room and restrooms were clean. There was an area at the front of the restaurant where they had Japanese snacks for sale. They have 2 levels of Omakase. The more expensive one serves higher quality ingredients. Omakase is an experience where you allow a chef to craft your meal, and the dishes are unknown to you. Allergies and preferences are discussed beforehand. All of the sushi dishes were well-made. It's going to take some trial and error before we find the ones with exemplary flavors. We had a good experience with the food and service, so we'll be back. There is a parking garage nearby with the first 2 hours free.

Food was great. Fast service. Nice clean restaurant. Everyone was friendly and we got seated immediately at 11:45 pm.

How these places have good reviews is hilarious to me. The food is subpar like literally subpar yeah sure the area is nice and vibe is cool but I'm here for food boo and that sucks. So over it l ramen was bland and the Goya were super greasy. SMH overpriced BS I'm so sick of restaurants like this why don't they get closed down? Why do people keep supporting these trash establishments?

Had a good experience. The sushi was really fresh and tasty. I did not fall in love with the ginger salad but it was still a good appetizer. Everyone was friendly and it is located in a great spot. Worth checking out.

We stopped into Kusshi to order some take out. The staff was super helpful in the ordering process, and checked about allergens for our order. The order was ready in less than 15 minutes. We ordered the kani California roll (the kani here is not gluten free), a spicy scallop roll, tuna avocado roll, and a salmon roll. The fish was all extremely fresh and very delicious. I loved the spicy scallop roll! Note that pending your order, you can rack up the bill pretty quickly here, however, our order of four rolls was only $35. Definitely a place we will return for sushi when we're in the area!

I had tried another Kusshi branch in Pentagon Row last month which was mostly hit and a little miss. My friend kept telling me this place taste so much better. I only expected the same level food but wow was she right! This Kusshi tastes better! HTW do I know? We ordered the same things! The fatty salmon nigiri, the tuna avocado ball, the volcano roll! If Pentagon Row as 4/5, this is definitely 5/5. The service is actually faster IMO. Our waiter had really useful recommendations for us. The food came out so quick it didn't even feel like we had to wait (not to mention we were hungry). I skipped the cocktails since Pentagon Row wasn't that memorable so I cannot comment on that here. The place is quite filled with activity and noise. It's not a quiet restaurant but more like a bar and a restaurant. The dimmed lighting here still bothers me like Pentagon Row but that's probably just me because I like the spotlight on my food lol I will definitely come back to this Kusshi! oh oh, and I love the big-size bowl that they give their miso soup in! Other sushi restaurants I've been to give me half their size. That's just satisfying.

I always love coming to this spot to try different things on their menu. They have great service and very fresh sushi! I got try two different drinks but personally I really enjoyed the peach nectar it felt like I was taking a bite from a fresh peach and it was delicious!

The service was very quick and the staff were very polite. I had the seafood udon and it warmed me up!! My husband had salmon rolls and they were all good. I really just came on here to tell people to get the Nutella roll. Seems like it's hidden!' Not too sweet and and not overwhelming at all.

This is the best sushi in our area, that we always come back to! It's consistently great! We love it and very much recommend!!

10/7 had the best experience at kusshi - first time here so i let them choose the roll. got the lava roll, and omg the quality of each fish was amazing. even though the roll was topped with a mix of scallop/smoked salmon/shrimp, you could individually taste how fresh they all were. the fact that they close at 1 AM immediately gives kusshi the edge over every other restaurant at pike&rose. it shouldn't have taken me this long to try kusshi, & i see why many people agree this is the best sushi in MD! i will be back to try more - fyi wesley is the best!!!!

Overall, it's a disappointing lunch and let me explain it to you. Let's start with the two noodle dishes. Udon soup tasted like a mixture of soy sauce with water. The egg was fully cooked buried down in the bowl resulting in its unattractive shape. The Ramen was very regular and the noodles used were not ramen noodles. The salmon skin roll was soggy hence no crispiness of salmon skin. Sushi rolls were ok :( Service was good and our dog was offered a bowl of water. Spacious outdoor seating too which is a plus for group dining and dogs.

I had a amazing time Kaylee was my bartender and she was so attentive. Julian was great in recommendations of what to get. I had a hard time choosing because everything sounded great but I was happy in the end thanks kusshi !!!!

This is my go-to sushi place. Not only is it conveniently located but the service and taste in food is phenomenal. Always fresh fish. The Uber Eats deal BOGO is not a deal to miss! They usually have some great rolls on sale in addition to dumplings or edamame. Wesley Yao also is hilarious on his IG so follow him.

I actually enjoy coming here over the Kusshi closest to me in Silver Spring. Even though there was construction work being done outside next door, it was such a treat to sit outside on a day when it doesn't feel like 100°. I had tickets to pick up and the free two hour parking afforded me time to have a leisurely lunch here. I started with the rock shrimp appetizer. Enough for two to share (15), but I didn't let a shrimp die in vain all on my own. I opted for the California roll made with real crab. It was good, but really can't tell much of a difference from the imitation stuff. At $10.00, I'd rather have another order of the rock shrimp ($14.00). I was alllmost stuffed, but I wanted to cleanse my palette with some mochi ice cream that I had in my previous review. I opted for my favorite from before (black sesame), ube, and passion fruit. Hands down my new favorite is passion fruit. It is sweet and very flavorful. I will be getting this flavor again. Will there be a new favorite? Time will tell.

Just moved to the DMV area for a couple months and a friend of mine recommended this place, so I decided to give a try . The food and service really surprise me! The server Annie is very patient and gives good recommendation on the sushi selection. She also answer all of my questions before placing the order. I ordered the tempera appetizers, unagi don(eel over rice), and a couple of their specialty sushi rolls. The food came very fast even though there were multiple customers already in the restaurant. The shrimp tempura is crispy and juicy, the eel and the fish on the sushi roll are fresh. Overall all great experience, I would recommend this place to anyone who likes sushi. The parking is also easy, 1 min walk from the restaurant.

We went in for a late night get together for a friend's birthday, and our server, Eric, was amazing! He took special care to help us with the allergies in our group, was very prompt and kind. The food was wonderful!

The Bethesda and Firecracker Rolls hit the spot if you are craving sushi but are otherwise not particularly memorable. The shrimp shumai, while cooked okay, do not possess much seasoning nor flavor. Contrarily, I can immediately tell that the quality of ingredients is above average to good; and it is above good to slightly below great in terms of freshness. Likewise, the quantity is above average to very good; especially when factoring BOGO Uber Eats deals, on top of the deals embedded within Uber. If you know, you know; this is a food review and not a credit and financial advisory analysis, so do your own research if you wish to learn more on that end. With the Uber Eats deals going on or perhaps a Happy Hour, this place may be a good option.

Very yummy sushi and great service! I heard about the place from a friend and they did not disappoint.

Really solid sushi place with a great happy hour! I usually get delivery from them and every time it's been very good. This was the first time I sat inside the restaurant to eat and went for their happy hour. Their happy hour has a lot of great options for drinks and food. We tried a bunch of different things and everything was really delicious and hit the spot. Service was very good, attentive and quick. We were there towards the beginning of happy hour, so the place was kind of empty with a few people but as the time went on the place started to fill with more people. Nice atmosphere and I love that they also have outside seating available.

This place was very cute!!! Great vibes and really good music. I love that they had an Asian mart on one side as well. The food was also solid, I got the spicy miso ramen and a salmon roll that was very good. My friends got the vegan ramen, Philly roll, and volcano and enjoyed all their dishes! The drinks were also BOMB and pretty strong! I liked my friends better - it was called the Grasscutter and it was a gin based drink with cucumber and sake and it was soooo refreshing !

Have been meaning to check out this sushi spot with places popping up all over the DMV. For drinks we got the Tokyo Tea and Japanese Sour. Started off with the Oysters and Takoyaki. For our sushi we got their Sushi and Sashimi Sampler, Cherry Blossom Roll, White Dragon Roll, and a variety of different nigiris. While the rolls were just ok in my opinion, the nigiri and sashimi were great! Super fresh and lots of variety to choose from. Must gets are the Otoro, Scallop, Ankimo, Seared Salmon, and Squid! Our server Eric was great also. Just the right amount of attention to make sure we were good without overly stopping by. Nice spot for a date night.

Awkward start to the meal... We had a reservation for when they opened. When we got there, they weren't open at all. Someone came to the door then closed it. We waited a few minutes and saw the other employees start to trickle in. About 20 mins after they opened they told us our table was ready. While we were being seated, we noticed they started to set up their outdoor seating area. However, they also were cleaning their storm drains? In the side walk while open bottles of water were chilling outside. We started with a few apps: soft shell crab, gyoza, tofu etc all very good! I started with Omakase, level 1. This location is the only one with Omakase. It's $99 for level 1 and $149 for level 2. Round 1: was beautiful oysters in sauce Round 2: tea pot soup Round 3: egg mochi custard Round 4: Sashimi Round 5: Sashimi Round 6: Sashimi Round 7: Nigiri Round 8: Nigri Round 9: Nigiri Round 10: Handroll Overall, the experience was amazing and unique. They also have a little market. A lot of snacks and sweets to purchase. Will be back. *took one star away for poor timing of cleaning the grates

Best miso soup I have ever had, best spicy salmon roll I've ever had, cocktails are good, ramen is good, literally nothing bad to say!

I tried Kusshi in 2021 and at their Vienna location a few months ago - had great experiences at both, but unfortunately my recent visit here missed the mark. The service was excellent - very pleasant server, who I believe was the owner. They also gave us 3 pieces of salmon nigiri on the house, which was delicious and a nice surprise. The food was a little disappointing - overall, I don't think the quality justifies the prices. The eel nigiri was good, but the egg omelet/tamago nigiri could have been better. The dragon roll was listed as a specialty but for $16.50, it seemed no different than almost a regular California roll. The Chesapeake roll was also a little bland - the sushi quality/craft overall seemed to miss the mark. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be returning, but I'd recommend checking out their Vienna location if you're in the area.

Been here multiple times. A cute spot for a late night bite and a drink. They serve food past 1am which is great because it's one of the only spots in the pike and rose area that stays open that late. Service is fine but it's definitely a casual spot so don't expect anything above and beyond.
