Andersonville Queer Bar Nobody’s Darling Is Making Space For All of Chicago’s LGBTQ People | Eater Chicago

"On the city’s majority-white North Side, Augie & CK’s was a lesbian bar that enforced an unofficial quota on how many Black patrons could be inside at a time; in 1974 Pat McCombs organized a protest against that discriminatory policy, and under pressure the bar eventually changed its approach." - Naomi Waxman

Went here in May 2025 for a drag brunch with my husband and my mom who was visiting from out of town and hadn’t seen a proper drag show. The staff was understanding that we were a little late for our reservation but still got a great table! The queens were entertaining and friendly. Food was great!

cynthia A.

Google
I had an amazing time here, food is so good and they make sure to accommodate to your liking. They respect if you prefer to drink and enjoy the show. I felt so welcomed and so happy there. Will be coming back with more people ‼️

Fionnuala K.

Google
Very fun spot for drag brunch. Everyone liked the food, including me. Service was great and the performers gave it their all and made us laugh.

Melinda D.

Google
One of the best drag brunches ever, smaller venue so make reservations! The staff is exceptionally friendly, the food was amazing and the show…so much fun. I am sure it’s fabulous as just a gay bar too! Bartenders are easy on the eyes and so attentive.

Google
Went late at night on Friday, very foggy they had a smoke machine so that was cool. Loud music hard to talk, they had a DJ so must’ve been an event or something. Chair in the back is very picture worthy I love it lol.

Two weekends back to back I felt like Royalty @ Kween. My first introduction to the Royal court was on a Saturday. A party of six, we decided to stop in for few cocktails after a less then memorable brunch at an overpriced and unseasoned place in the city. We had such an enjoyable moment, we decided to return the following Sunday for a proper brunch seasoned with the right amount of Drag. Sunday's Drag Brunch is offered @1pm & 3pm. We decided on 3pm for our slightly smaller party of 4. Drinks were nice & stiff, food was tasty and the show was spicy! We had such an enjoyable time it more then made up for the previous weekend. The entertainers definitely entertained and the staff was efficient and gracious. Since we were celebrating the approaching nuptials of a very good friend. The staff allowed me to bring sweet treats that they enjoyed with us. Just A Note: Don't miss the Royal seat in the back, great photo moment.

Love the energy and the food is great. The show was really cool and we had a great moments with our friends!

Google
Kween is so awesome! Such a fun safe space for queer people. The drinks are awesome and so affordable. The hot Aussie bartender Tim made me some awesome mocktails. Will be back!!

Yelp
Wonderful Drag brunch. Food was good. The show is wonderful. I went for my birthday with my family and had a great time. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Went for drag brunch with friends on my birthday. Huge shoutout to Freedakulo! Love her! She was the epitome of charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent and I hope she makes it to Rupaul's drag race one day!!! She was performing on her birthday! The food was good and fairly priced, they gave me a free birthday shot. Brunch minimum is $30 for drag brunch, which is the most reasonable considering I called around other gay bars for drag brunch info and found other places had a $50 minimum. If you come for drag brunch don't forget to bring cash!!!!! They were kind enough to offer change at the beginning of the show. Really considerate! Overall honestly the best drag show I have seen. You get 3 queens, not just 1 , and an unforgettable experience. Happy pride!

Yelp
This bar plays music and has a dj on the weekends, but it's an awkward shape for dancing. The bar is very long and doesn't leave a lot of room for standing, and then the dance floor in the back is tiny.

Yelp
It was a great show with good music. The atmosphere was electric. The AC appeared to be broken which was unfortunate given the current heatwave. I was even more impressed with the performers performing in such humidity and heat. Though the performance was great, the quality of the food was unforgivably bad. I ordered the chicken and waffle. The fried chicken was good but I definitely had the worst waffle of my life. Even eggo waffles are a million times better. The waffle was flat without shape, bitter and burnt. I am still shocked that a restaurant thought they could serve waffles like that ever. The three of us ordered the same plate and none of us took more than a tiny bite. I would recommend coming for the show but please skip the waffle dish at all cost.

Yelp
Did drag brunch and it was SO fun! It's a bottomless brunch so expect less from the food and drink but it's exactly what Astoria needs - an extra dash of gay. The performances were 5/5 I couldn't believe how good it was. The wait staff was friendly and attentive despite us sitting in the back away from the action. Really looking forward to coming back here soon! Wishing Kween all the success and appreciate that they're supporting the gay culture in the Astoria. If you sit in the back there's a TV to help you see what's going on in the front in case you're missing it but the performers (10/10 job Freeda Kulo!!!) made sure they made their rounds through the bar and spread the love. My friends who came with me said they didn't expect to be so entertained and really enjoyed it!

Yelp
This place is a REALLY good time! The Kweens are so entertaining. They're funny, and great dancers. On my visit they actually entertained the full two hours we were there. They go hard and even bring the entertainment onto the sidewalk. Excellent work there! The venue itself is fairly narrow. We had a group of 20+ people and basically took up two thirds of the restaurant. It's all good though there was still a bit of space in terms of tables and the bar for walkins. Looking around at the walls, nooks and crannies, they did a good job of accessorizing the design elements. The Kween Throne by the bathrooms was a big hit! Meanwhile, I see some of the reviewers didn't like the food. I saw no issue with it. Actually, I thought the empanadas were great! I had the burger but I made the tactical error of eating too many chips with the guac appetizer. So I bagged half of the burger to go. Bottomless Brunch is always the go and I had an entire pitcher of bellini for myself since the rest of my section went with mimosas (tactical initiative regained). At this point, you're probably wondering where I pulled the stars from. Here's the deal: We were celebrating two (2) "birthday girls." One of them was in my section, at my table. No orders or drinks (including water) arrived at our table for 40+ minutes. The service timing varied very widely from table to table, within our 20 person section. Whether it was a large group or multiple small groups, the service needed to be more smooth and based off of who was seated first, etc. When you're hangry, 40 mins. is an eternity. In addition, our reservation was scheduled months in advance. They should've been ready with a strategy to cover the service for our section. Still, you should go if ever you get the chance! Consider keeping a snickers bar in your pocket if you have a similar delay in your initial food order.

Yelp
I took my friend here for her first drag show and I was highly impressed, the bar is a little small but the Drag Queens make it WORKKKKK! Our servers were beyond amazing and attentive during the brunch and the food was amazing aswell I can't wait to bring more people to this spot!

Yelp
Had the pleasure of enjoying this establishment on Mother's Day and had an amazing time. Staff were engaging and professional and the shoe was exceptional!!!!

Taisha G.

Yelp
A bartender there was sooo rude and the drink was horrible don't waste your time unless you want to have a terrible night

Yelp
Had a great time at drag brunch, the staff was accommodating and so attentive. Food was great the only thing I didn't like was the calamari the texture was a little off. Everything else was delicious . Would def return for the show the general ambiance was high energy everyone came to have a good time. The place is a bit small but comfy.
google avatar

Taylor K.

Yelp
This place is a must try! The ambiance is fun and the drag brunch on the weekends is so fun and they are incredibly talented. They have events throughout the week too. The food here is AMAZING - I know lots of people probably come just for the performance and vibes but the food is so good. The drinks are kind of meh but everything else is so great I don't really care.

Yelp
I so badly wanted to give a better review. The drag show was great and the queens gave 110%. I really enjoyed the experience despite the venue itself. Those queens got a big tip. They worked hard and they carry all the weight. The food was not good. I ordered the chilaquiles. It was bad. Basically nachos with no seasoning and no spice. Chilaquiles should be soggy and flavorful. Sauced! We had to ask for a sauce and after a long wait were given Cholula. It helped. But really ? Cholula? My husband ordered a chicken sandwich and he couldn't even eat the bun because of the heavy mayo application. He always eats the buns [sic]. The mimosas were off. Cheep champ with cheaper OJ. If you order bottomless, you stop caring after 3 glasses. Service was cute but slow. We got an initial flirtation and some attention but were then left on our own (and had to try our luck with the queens). The food and service alone would be a 1 or 1.5. Drag show boost this greatly. Thanks queens. Cooks: use salt.

Yelp
This place was smaller that I thought, however, it was clean, it was colorful & fun! Went there for a birthday brunch and I was not disappointed!! The entertainment was super fun and enjoyed myself, the food came pretty quickly considering we were a party of 12!! Our waiters were super nice and friendly. This is LGBTQ+ friendly , so everyone welcomed! The appetizers were tasty specially the guacamole, the arepas were not my favorite but I think that's just a matter of preference. My main dish was delish! I had the egg benedict and it was perfect! The steak was also super tasty ,the prices were reasonable and overall it was a great place. Finding parking was a bit hectic so that's the only downside. Will deff be coming back!

Yelp
Good happy hour, tasty tacos! Chill vibes, nice atmosphere here. Margaritas stroooooong, made not too sweet for request, loved them! Attentive service

Yelp
I have been going to karaoke with Hassan on Wednesdays. It is a blast! Everyone has a great time. I am not a singer but I've gotten up there and everyone has been so encouraging. They have cocktails, beer and food. Their sweet potato fries are delicious! Kween is such a community and I'm so happy to have found it.

Yelp
Came here the Thursday before Manhattans pride and was super excited. There was a 2 for one special. I was beyond happy they had this cool instagram ready photo shoot area. I'm loving that the owner prides his baby dog in tons of photos. I also found out they have drag brunches I need to check that out. The service was absolutely amazing and a judgement free zone. I love these types of bars. The music was like throwback I think because it was a Thursday. I was having tons of fun. I'm definitely coming back here for brunch one night. Love my LGBTTQIA+ community you rock. Also their calamari was on point! Yassss Queen!

Yelp
Went to see the 3:30 show on Sunday 4/28. THOSE QUEENS WERK HARD! Great food! Great show! Fun had by ALL! Many happy wishes for a long, lucrative life in ASTORIA!

Yelp
Love it here it feels like home . If your looking for good food, great entertainment and a good time please visit this queer paradise. Queen is for everyone and I hope more people get to experience this joyful place filled with love and laughs.

google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. I've honestly become a regular. Anytime I'm looking to brunch this has become my go to spot. The service is always good the are very tentative. The ambiance is so amazing it a little small but they make it work how they set things
google avatar

Yelp
Kween is such a fun and beautiful environment. They create such a safe space for everyone to be themselves and to let loose. The owner is gracious to all and makes sure to applaud the waitstaff, bartenders, kitchen staff, etc. There is also a family tree on the wall that shows all the workers. I've never seen anything like that before. Drag brunch is always a blast especially when Cissy is there! Food is really good too!
google avatar

Yelp
I went for brunch with a few friends on a Saturday at 3pm. My friend who coordinated the brunch told us to bring singles, and I wasn't sure why, but it was for a drag show. It definitely was unlike any other brunches in the past and was a lot of fun (mature audiences). Moreover, I had the chicken and waffles, I forgot to take a picture of it, but it was good. It came with sweet butter and syrup which was too sweet for me but my friends said they liked it. We also shared the salad which was good but not too filling. I'll definitely visit again and highly recommend for a fun time

Yelp
Só much fun!!! Very accommodating and lovely atmosphere. I felt at home! Awesome drag show!

Yelp
This is by far my favorite drag brunch from start to finish. From the beautiful interior to the little touches. This is a pink paradise! I have never felt more welcome or a part of the family when going to a restaurant. The business deserves all of its flowers! The owners were in attendance and are some of the most gracious people. Without spoiling the show there were flips, splits, and tricks galore. The food was exceptional. Latin flavor and a new take on a tres leches cake!!! Delicioso!!! Frieda and Bianca were the hostesses with the mostess! Don't forget the chair in the back KWEENS!!!!

Yelp
I've been here a few times now for brunch and late night during the weekends. I enjoy the experience every time. Brunch is a lot of fun. The drag queen is very fun and engaging. Most of the food was really good. I think $35 dollars for steak and eggs along with a mimosa is a nice deal. Their housemade bloody mary was really good and included a piece of bacon! We really enjoyed the steak and eggs and the crab and shrimp guacamole. The burger and the chillaquilles were impressive looking, but the bun on the burger was not very fluffy for a brioche bun and the chillaquilles was oddly sweet. On a Friday night, there was a DJ playing music and the vibe was clubby. I believe it is a relatively new bar so it wasn't very busy. I enjoyed the pop music and they still served the dinner menu. The calamari was cooked perfectly and the nachos with steak were really good. We tried the burger again, but the brioche bun hadn't changed.

Yelp
COME AND SUPPORT THE QUEEEENS! The drag queens put on such an amazing show and the energy in the space was electric. However, save yourself from the food. I took two bites out of the chilaquiles for brunch and they just weren't it. $18 for flavorless food is just a let down. We also waited 30 minutes at our table without water or menus. I had to go to the bartender to ask if we order food there or at our table. He proceeded to ask: "oh y'all want food and drinks?" ...like we came for drag brunch I thought that was a given. Most importantly, come and support the drag queens! Maybe grab a bite before hand or after the show but tip these amazing performers
google avatar

Yelp
Went for a bingo night- very fun vibe. The tacos were good as were the margaritas. Service was so-so.

Yelp
Absolutely love KWEEN! the show is amazing! The queens are phenomenal and make you feel so amazing and special! Our server Adrian was incredible! Honestly so amazing and so hospitable, made our party feel at ease from the get go! Definitely the best drag brunch I've ever been to
google avatar

Chaewon L.

Yelp
I visited here with my friends for the drag brunch! I'm so happy there is another safe space for queer folx in Astoria. And the drag show was sooooo much fun, and I enjoyed every second of it. For the brunch, I had the kween burger. Burger is something that I rarely order in restaurants, but I decided to give it a try. This burger was thic af. The meat was good, and the little sweetness from the bacon tomato jam was top notch. I replaced the fries with sweet potato ones, and they don't upcharge you for it. I legit would come back just for the burger.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is freaking amazing. Hands down sexiest staff and best shown! I'm literally here right now and. I'm having a freaking blast!!!

Suzanne J.

Yelp
Such a fun spot! A group of family & friends went to their bottomless brunch to celebrate a birthday and we were not disappointed. Food choices are amazing & delicious. All the servers are great and cute! And Fonda Koxx is so entertaining & gorgeous. Kween ruled!

google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and the drag brunch was sooo entertaining !!! Loved it. I want with friends in Sunday and will come back many times for sure.
google avatar

Angela P.

Yelp
Kween was awesome! The food was good although i only ate half because the entertainment was just too great that I forgot to eat! We came for brunch and it was such a great time. Great performances and fun environment. Brunch was a success and they were always on it to refill us every time. It was pricey but I would go back as it was worth the fun we had there. Don't buy shots. They're like $15 each and not worth it. Just get litty through the bottomless.
google avatar

Enoch L.

Yelp
One my favorite new spots in Astoria. Kween lives up to the hype and rivals those Manhattan bars. Drag brunch is amazing and food is delicious.
google avatar

John V.

Yelp
Had a great time here on Sunday. We arrived early. It was a birthday celebration for a friend. I have never been here before. I don't think I was ever in Astoria before. The performers were so much fun. I have been to other drag brunches where we left the restaurant during half time. I wish this went on longer. That may be a universal wish. But moving forward. Would go back again without hesitation. So much laughter and fun with my whole party. Hopefully a redo real soon.

Jenny G.

Yelp
I do not travel out to Queens enough & I think I may have finally found my reason to. First of all, the place is SO cute. I enjoyed sitting at the bar - even with the most fabulous drag brunch going on, the service was on point! I will definitely be back, there are never enough queer places to be in NYC. :)
google avatar

Lee M.

Yelp
Since they opened, kween has been friendly and embracing. They're a great addition to the neighborhood on 30th avenue. The drag brunches are so fun! #Freedakula hosts! Always fabulous! The food is very good!! Crab and shrimp guacamole (chefs kiss) Cocktails are wonderful, try the Royal Jolt!
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
Visited NY and came to Kweens for brunch. Delicious food, tasty drinks, great service, and an absolutely amazing show with Freeda Kulo.
google avatar

Jamil J.

Yelp
Super dope place! I had a great time. Food was super slamming. They served the heck out of it. It was amazing. I loved the vibes and the effort was everything loves!! Truly made my Sunday amazing.
google avatar

Sammy D.

Yelp
The best combination of service, food, and drag is at Kween Astoria! The service is quick, the food is truly good, and the drag queens are entertaining AF! The first drag star IG@Hassanintheworld performed a rendition of URSULA from the Little Mermaid and stole my heart. I laughed and ate my stress away with sweet n' savory chilaquiles and kween guac. Then IG@Hassanintheworld performed a song by SELENA!! Hassan didn't need to steal Ariel's voice to sing his version of Bidi Bidi Bum Bum. Selena united the whole restaurant and Hassan led the way with his gorgeous voice! Last but not least, BIG SHOUT OUT to the owner Pedro and his amazing staff!! Pedro established a safe space for laughter, community, and entertainment. I will come again with drag show virgins!
google avatar

Reynaldo V.

Yelp
BEST SHOW AND FOOD EVER ! Freeda is a dum* b**ch but I LOVE HER highly recommended for anything ! Great drinks and the guys are hot !
google avatar

Kevin G.

Yelp
I thought the place was nice. My boyfriend and I came on a Friday night when it wasn't too busy which was good. I think the guy that was mixing our drinks was new so he was still figuring out how to mix drinks, which was fine. Everyone needs to start somewhere. It wasn't too busy and we were able to find seats easily. Usually we would be in hell's kitchen but this was nice going to in queens
google avatar

Jimmy A.

Yelp
It was a cute spot. The food was great. The crab and shrimp guacamole was fantastic!!

Yelp
I had booked for a party of 3 for the Sunday Drag brunch at 1pm. Upon arrival the staff greeted us and showed us to our table. They explain that the show usually starts at 1:15pm and that prior to that they try to get all the food orders out to avoid disrupting the drag performers. It's a pretty small venue but every space is well used so the tables are quite close together. We each ordered a meal from the brunch menu and some cocktails. We had the chicken and waffles, the kween benny (a highlight with the candied bacon) , and the avo toast. As well as the Crown Jewel, Shantelle, and Strumpet. Fair play to the bar staff and whoever designed the cocktails because they were all so good and too easy to drink! Now on to the drag show! The show was hosted by Freeda Kulo who is stunning and absolutely hilarious, and Privilege who was equally as stunning and an amazing singer performed. It felt like the time flew by and I would go to another brunch at Kween in a heartbeat! 10/10 could not recommend enough!

Yelp
Beautiful bar where all are welcome, nice staff and great drinks, i went with family and friends had so much fun, we loved the decor and music, Pedro the owner is doing a great job , a big plus for the Chair after a couple of drinks everyone wants to be the Kween for the pic.
