Kylesku Hotel | Best places to stay in the Scottish Highlands

"Watch the fishing boats unload their catch through the panoramic picture windows as you tuck into breakfast in the architect-designed wooden extension of this quaint 19th-century coaching inn in the northwest Highlands. Right on the water’s edge, overlooking Loch Glendhu, it’s a gourmet bolthole, famous for its seafood and the perfect pitstop if you’re driving the North Coast 500. This relaxing retreat, with books to thumb and a telescope for wildlife-watching, is also dog-friendly. Some hotels claim to be dog-friendly, but here they’re really welcome – in the bar and restaurant as well as rooms. There are 11 rooms in all, four in the modern annex, Willie’s Hoose next door – two with a loch-facing balcony. Ideal for seafood-loving sea dogs and dog lovers. " - Lucy Gillmore

Stayed here for 2 nights with our 2 big dogs during our NC500 trip. A beautifully presented property with big windows and binoculars to view the stunning loch. In the late afternoon you can watch the fishermen bring in their local catch. During the day there is a lovely walk around the loch, we saw lots of wildlife and a pod of 7 seals. The room was lovely and well presented and the food was delish. We were really looked after by all of the staff, especially the dogs when the chef brought them out a homemade breakfast.

Absolutely stunning views from the room and the public areas. We saw a seal at breakfast time! The rooms have a Scandi/Scots vibe that is relaxing and welcoming. Genuinely the most comfortable bed I've slept in for ages. Lovely ensuite with gorgeous toiletries. Courteous and efficient staff who could not have been more helpful. Special mention to chef and team as the food is gorgeous. Definitely a fish and seafood lover's heaven.

Our stay at Kylesku Hotel was absolutely wonderful. As we were travelling in the quiet season we had a free upgrade to a beautiful room overlooking the water and mountains.||We had the most delicious dinner. We practically had the restaurant to ourselves so our own private semeliar recommended some lovely gins and looked after us well.||The room was incredibly comfortable with an array of teas and coffees.||The breakfast was of course delicious and possibly the best highland breakfast of the trip.||Cannot recommend Kylesku Hotel strongly enough.

The best experience and hospitality we had. Great location and awesome food. Rooms were so good and well maintained. Staff were so friendly and helped us with the local cuisine. Would love to come back again in summers!!❤️

Stunning location, warm and welcoming hotel, and excellent food. A perfect refuge in the wild Highlands — we only stayed one night and wished it were longer. Highly recommended.

Had the impression they needed some more staff, although the staff were really friendly and helpful at all times. We found the food prices a little high for the quality of food served. A problem we encountered was all the Highland coast hotels have similar menus so the choice was the same in all three hotels we stayed in.

This is the 5th hotel we have stayed in on our road trip, so far. It is, by far the most disappointing. No way is this a £340 a night hotel. We stayed in Willie's Hoos with the dog. The room was average, at best. The bathroom had rotten wood all round the shower. The bed and pillows were rock hard. At half 5 yesterday afternoon, a coach load of tourists were dropped off and the coach sat outside our room with the engine running. This morning, there were no tables set for breakfast in the dog friendly area. When we did get sat for breakfast, the septic tank lorry turned up and emptied the tank just the other side of the window where we were sitting. At check out time, the bill wasn't ready, the card machine wasn't charged up. An expensive Fawlty Towers trip! We stayed, two nights ago at the sister hotel in Brora. That one is 100% better and worth every penny.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable Stay at Kylesku Hotel! I can’t recommend the Kylesku Hotel enough! The location is absolutely breathtaking, with stunning views of the lochs and surrounding mountains. The welcome was warm and genuine – we instantly felt at home. Our room was charming, comfortable, and beautifully decorated, with thoughtful little touches that made the stay even more special. The restaurant deserves a special mention: every dish was delicious, showcasing fresh local ingredients, especially the seafood – an absolute delight from start to finish! This is the perfect place to relax, enjoy the beauty of the Scottish Highlands, and recharge in a peaceful, elegant setting. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable stay – we will definitely be back
