A great restaurant with some fantastic dishes and beers. Ed, Jacob, and Jesse all served us throughout the night and they were fantastic to speak to and they were all quick to give great recommendations along with great conversation. The beers being opened tableside and poured was a level of service I haven't experienced in quite some time from a restaurant. It was greatly appreciated. Being a vegetarian, Jacob recommended the Yami Yami roll that was both savoury and delicious in flavor. The spicy edamame, miso soup, and vegetarian dumplings were all amazing choices as well. The Hitachino beers were all so good. Normally, I'm only used to Sapporo as my home province has very little offering in the way of Japanese beer. The Hito White, Lager, Damidami, and Red Rice were all so unique but complimentary to the food. The taste was subtle yet noticeable and each one was in its own way fantastic. They really paired well with everything I ate. The entire restaurant is beautifully laid out. It feels like old-school subterranean met classy-modern vibes and had a baby. It really provided a wonderful atmosphere to spend the evening so close to attractions like the Notre Dame Cathedral and La Grande Roue!

The food was absolutely delicious! I had mentioned my gluten intolerance in advance, and when I arrived, the staff already knew and were fully prepared. They provided gluten-free soy sauce and a wonderful sashimi salad; so fresh and flavorful. In hindsight, I probably would’ve enjoyed a bit of rice on the side, but that’s on me for not asking. The edamame were tasty, though I would’ve liked a touch more salt. Since we were dining as a group, I really appreciated how well our server managed everything: friendly, attentive, and efficient. They even brought me gluten free dessert which I had NOT expected. And it tasted so good too, than was an extra treat for me. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. No complaints at all!

Google
Kyo Japanese Sushi Bar is outstanding! The quality of the sushi is top-notch — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The ambiance is just as amazing, with a modern yet cozy vibe that makes dining here a real experience. Perfect spot for both sushi lovers and anyone looking to enjoy a great night out. Highly recommend!

Google
Second time coming, and I highly recommend this spot! Amazing for both an hang out and date night. Our order for two people came to $150 because we ordered a bottle of wine with dinner, but it was worth the money. Jacob was an amazing sever who made our experience even more memorable :)

Google
Kyo bar never disappoints! My partner and I always come here to celebrate our anniversary because the food, service and atmosphere are always incredible. The sashimi and pork belly are to die for! The servers were so attentive and kind despite the restaurant being completely packed.

Google
Wow!!! The food is incredible. We had chicken wings, wagyu gyoza, edamame, shrimp tempura, buruzu sushi, yaki udon, yuzu donuts. Everything was so tasty and we loved the chicken wings so much we ordered another round. It was very hard to pick a favourite but if I have to pick, it was the yuzu donuts...bit size and the yuzu flavour worked great with the sweetness and heaviness of donuts, perfect balance! Oh, one more thing, the cocktails we ordered were also excellent...Korunbu and Yugarita...very easy to drink and not very sweet, perfectly balanced.

Google
Food and service were fine. The atmosphere is nice and it feels chic. The sushi was nothing extraordinary. And to be honest, I was expecting more. But the dessert? That one was incredible inside out. I would like to come back and try different sushi rolls or dishes.

Google
I was really impressed by the interior design—elegant, thoughtful, and with great attention to detail, especially in how the tables were set. The presentation of the food was equally beautiful, showing real care and artistry. The staff were very professional, attentive, and made the experience feel special from start to finish. We ordered the Rainbow and California rolls. My partner absolutely loved the Rainbow rolls, though I’ve had better California rolls elsewhere. The standout for me was the karaage chicken—it was truly mind-blowing, crispy on the outside and juicy inside, full of flavor. We ended the meal with the lemon mochi, and it was a perfect finish—a unique and memorable taste I’ll definitely come back for. Overall, a lovely dining experience with strong visuals, great service, and a few truly exceptional dishes.

Yelp
We had been asking around for the best sushi in the downtown Montreal area for some time and everyone seemed to recommend Kyo, including the concierge at our hotel. In my opinion, not everyone gets sushi right, specifically with the freshness of the fish, so we were pleasantly surprised to find Kyo. Our group included 4 people who are absolutely obsessed with Sushi, and so I was curious what their take was. I tried the Snake roll, edamame, and requested an avocado/ cucumber roll which they made for me. The rest of the group tried the rainbow roll, chefs choice Maki combination, chefs choice sushi combination, tonkatsu pork, and the beignets for dessert. Let me start off by mentioning the incredibly kind service we received from the hostess, server, and staff the entire night. On an incredibly busy Friday night, they maintained their patience as the restaurant was completely booked, and were kind and pleasant in every interaction. The restaurant itself is beautifully located in downtown, clean, and spacious. You do not feel rushed to eat. The food was so good we have decided to go back for dinner one more night before traveling back home. The vegetables and fish are fresh, the portions are perfect yet generous, and overall, id rate this restaurant a 12/10. Highly recommend if you're in Montreal and looking for good food.

Yelp
We were greeted warmly by the friendly staff, setting the tone for a great dining experience. Service was top-notch from start to finish--attentive, timely, and welcoming. We started with the Ebi Tempura served with Tentsuyu sauce. Perfectly crispy and light, each bite had the ideal crunch without being greasy. The Gyoza Wagyu--pan-fried wagyu beef dumplings topped with sweet chili shoyu was a balance of savory and sweet , was spot on. The Takoyaki came drizzled with Kewpie mayo, Okonomi sauce, and a sprinkle of nori--classic Japanese street food done right! But the standout dish for us was the Kakuni--tender braised pork belly in a rich emulsion of butter and sherry vinegar. The pork practically melted in our mouths. Highly recommend if you're looking to explore small plates with big flavors

Yelp
I arrived at the Le Westin hotel in Montreal early evening in much need of nutrition after most of the day traveling here. I was hungry and my main mission was to get food as soon as possible. Of course I used my handy Yelp app to search for dinner in proximity to the hotel, and Yelp suggested KYO and sushi sounded appetizing. When I arrived, I was pleasantly greeted in French of course, but I was accommodated in English. I asked for a bar seat as I was alone, and the bar tender was super friendly and offered some recommendations. The menu is organized by Izakaya dishes on the left and sushi on the right. I decided to get one of each, the Karaage and a Rainbow Roll. The Karaage was perfectly prepared with the breading crispy and the chicken moist inside with the honey and sriracha sauce well balanced with sweet and spicy flavors. The Rainbow Roll was a bit different with tempura shrimp and avocado roll topped with tuna, albacore, salmon and hamachi. The fish was extremely fresh, melting in my mouth with every bite. I was so pleasantly surprised that I mentioned it to the bartender and he informed me that all of their fish is delivered daily and never frozen or stored for long. Of course I enjoyed Japanese whiskey with my meal. The ambience was opulent, dimmed and conducive for conversation. I could only imagine having date night dinner here with my lovely wife. It was a nice start to my visit in Montreal, backing the renowned culinary status of Montreal.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Fresh and not fishy. Very clean atmosphere. Service was quick! Their tea is very good too!!

Yelp
We stopped in for dinner and had such a great meal! Our waiter gave us some excellent suggestions and we ordered most of what he suggested and it was all on point! My favorite was the ebi mayo which was the most tender shrimp I've had in awhile perfectly paired with a wasabi sauce. The chicken katsu curry was my next favorite and that curry was delicious and savory. For sushi we got the tataki maguro which was such a delightful combination of flavors- the spicy jalapeño paired perfectly with the seared tuna- a combo I didn't realize I needed in my life! We also got the rainbow sushi. I was really impressed with how good their fish was overall. This was a great choice for dinner and I'd do it again!

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by how fresh the fish was here- ordered the Hamachi Bibimbap and the Sashimi Salad. Both exceeded expectations. We came during lunch time and it was not that busy. Staff was pretty prompt, casual business was the ambiance, and overall could compete with the higher end sushi places around Montreal due to their fish quality. Appetizer choice came with either edamame or miso soup. you can't go wrong with either- if you need more salt, do the miso. if you want something plain with more protein, do the edamame Hamachi Bibimbap- I like this unique take of the traditional hot clay pot bibimbap. I think the fish on top is a good twist since usually the topping is land meat such as bulgogi or pork. A fish makes this dish lighter. Careful about stirring this dish too much because if the top raw sashimi gets buried, you end up with cooked fish. This is not bad but I think the raw experience makes this dish go down a little better. There is some kimchi in here and the pairing of veggies was also good. Sashimi salad had humongous sashimi pieces- about 8-10 pieces. Very generous slices to where even I was getting full and needed my husband to help finish this. Right? A sashimi salad you can't finish? Don't underestimate this portion size. Would come back here in future for a fish fix if I'm around- not a bad price and large portions.

Yelp
We wanted to take a break from all the heavy food in Montreal and decided on sushi. Yelp brought us here with all the good reviews and it did not disappoint.  They were quite busy for dinner, but luckily they were able to squeeze the 4 of us at the bar. I would recommend getting a reservation here if you want to dine indoors. They do have a few tables outdoors but it was quite windy the night we visited.   Hubby and I shared: Miso Cod - sauce was delicious and came with different kinds of mushrooms. This also came last since it was a cooked entree Chef's Choice 7 pcs - very fresh sushi Haru Sushi - no rice and wrap in cucumber with salmon, tuna, albacore. So refreshing and tasty!  Robosutaa - soy paper wrap with lobster, crab meat and avocado. Overall Kyo was one of the best meals we had in Montreal. I wish we had room for the Yuzu donuts but we were stuffed!

Yelp
I enjoy coming here for sushi in a relaxing modern dining room with wood finishing. It has more of a local clientele. Probably because it is a little more than what tourists want to pay even though it is in between the port and Place d'Arms. They have different menus for lunch and dinner. The second time I came for the salmon bento. The salmon didn't have crispy skin and had an odd texture maybe from overmarinating? If I return it will be for sashimi.

Yelp
Superb. 5/5 excellent the variety of sushi was wonderful and the chefs selection was superb. 4/5 great, the quality of the sushi was very high and the service was commendable. Frequent water is appeciated. Green tea was a hit. 3/5 good, pretty noisy which is ok, means the place is well loved, Bachelorette party, a birthday party, and more all going on. The donut dessert was a bit strange but good to ok. 2/5 meh ok, tables are tight, navigation to the basement bathroom takes some doing. 1/5 poor, nothing.

Yelp
Servers are friendly and were able to accommodate our older guests by moving our high reserved table to tables that were lower where chairs were easier to sit on. I was also asking a lot out of them but they remained patient. Our waitress was very attentive and noticed half of our party didn't have chopsticks and got us some without us having to ask. The restaurant seems sanitary. Bathrooms actually smell good and are cleaner than most. Also, there aren't automatic toilets (YES!). It wasn't very busy around the 1:30-2:30 time but there were some families. Food took a while to come out. Sashimi was very fresh but very thick and I can say the same for the sushi, which wasn't hard to bite or chew. It was soft. Salad was delicious and had a unique sesame flavor. Overall, kyo bar satisfied us across the board with food, service, and ambiance. Chairs are cozy and comfortable. It's a nice restaurant to stop by if u don't mind the wait for the food.

Yelp
Rated #2 of 3179 restaurants in Montreal by readers of Tripadvisor. Came here without a reservation just as they opened at 5pm. Hostess told us that we could have a table for 2 until 7pm. The CAN19$ rainbow roll came with tuna, salmon, albacore with hamachi and avocado on the inside, along with a a small amount of wasabi, and a generous portion of ginger. No shrimp tempura despite the listing on the menu. I thought it was OK, but wife, who is an expert on sushi, raved about it. The CAN19$ pork goyas were delicious, but the sweet chili sauce was a bit too salty for my tastes. Both dishes came out within a few minutes. The CAD37$ cod dish took about 25 minutes to come. Absolutely superb tasting, with tender flaky buttery white fish falling apart with each forkful. Similar to Roy's miyosaki butterfish, but far cheaper. Portion size only 5 ounces, on the small side for a white fish and price. Still hungry afterwards, so ordered another dish. The CAN26$ Yaku Udon dish was temperature hot noodles served with mushrooms and tender chunks of fresh tasting chicken mixed in with kimchi sauce. I thought the combination was a bit unusual, but wife loved it, as it was very spicy. Left a 20% tip, but the credit card reader based that on both the price of the meal, and the 15% tax combined, instead of the meal alone. They had at least eight two person tables, of which only three were occupied when we left at 630pm. Could have stayed another half hour.

Yelp
The restaurant is located near the Word Trade Center. They have an extensive lunch menu with items ranging from sushi and poke to bento box and udon. We tried their karage and beef bento box which came in huge portion. Each bento also included a starter of our choice ( salad, miso or edamame). We liked our bento, the only complaint is the karage was like warm and not krispy enough and the tempura sweet potatoes weren't fully cooked. The service was a little slow but attentive.
google avatar

Jenna S.

Yelp
The food was delicious, chicken was super juicy and bold flavors. Yuzu donuts are super sweet but loved the sauce to dip it in. Only complaint is service is a bit slow.

Yelp
This place has a nice vibe and ambience when walking in, low playing music and beautiful fixtures. Food tasted incredible although receiving our orders took quite some time. The taste of the food is what made the experience worthwhile. Restaurant was quite busy with few staff waiting which understandably made the service a bit slower.

Yelp
Slightly upscale izakaya in Montreal that opens late! My friend and I tried this place out after attempting to go to three other sushi restaurants, one of which was closed for the night, the other which we didn't realize was vegan, and the last which didn't seem to exist even though it was listed on Google. We didn't have a reservation, and the place was packed on a Thursday night at 9pm, but luckily there was one table available that accommodated us. We already had drinks prior to dinner so we only had food, but the drink menu looked great. I got the 7pc nigiri and the yaki udon made with tofu instead of chicken, and my friend ordered two rolls and two nigiri. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. My favorite was the scallop, sea bass, and hamachi nigiri - so good and honestly the highlight of my trip to Montreal. The only critique I'd give is that the noodles I ordered were too salty and drenched in sauce. I would have preferred less sauce or less salt. I also wish there were more sushi maki roll options. Almost all of the non-vegetarian rolls had shrimp or salmon inside and I do not eat either.

Yelp
On a busy weekend afternoon, we were thrilled to be able to make a reservation for two at a high top table here and equally excited to find a sushi place to eat that closes later! When we arrived for our reservation, our table wasn't quite ready yet so we headed over to the bar for a drink while we waited for our table. Shortly after, they had finished cleaning our table and our order was taken fairly quickly. The ambiance was nice and it was a nice atmosphere for a late dinner date. Overall, the appetizers that we ordered were better than the actual sushi rolls and nigiri we had. The sushi rice was slightly mushy and in the rolls were really large and fell apart easily. The sushi rolls and nigiri weren't worth the price point that we paid for them and I would recommend the appetizers we had over the sushi rolls and nigiri. After our food was served, it also became hard to flag down our waitress. We ended up having to ask someone else for our check so we could finally pay and leave after waiting for quite a while.

Yelp
Nice ambience. Great quality of food. Service ok for the price. Need reservation. Convenient location

Yelp
Excellent Japanese plates at a price. Sashimi was good, Maki was extra good. We also had three small plates to share that were solid. I would eat here again.

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by a couple of co-workers. We made a reservation a week in advance, and had a lovely dinner here! We were seated promptly and lucked out with a great window table in a private corner. Everything we ordered was delicious, from small plates to sushi to dessert. I ordered: -Takoyaki (5/5) Delicious! I wanted to order more. -10 Pc Chef's Choice Sashimi (5/5) Very fresh thick slices of fish. -Nagoya Chicken Wings (4.5/5) Tasty, but didn't wow me like the Takoyaki did. -Yuzu Donuts, Black Sesame, Condensed Milk (5/5) *Get this dessert!! If you love sweets/donuts, these were so warm, fluffy and satisfying, and dipping them in condensed milk really put them over the top.

Yelp
We wanted some good sushi while we were wandering around Montreal. This place definitely exceeded every expectation. The reviews looked good, but we've been thinking about this meal every. day. since we've had it. The beef was tender and the sushi had incredible flavor. The cocktails were really good the miso soup was delicious (especially with all of the November Montréal weather). The service was quick and attentive and it was a perfect spot for lunch or dinner if you want something other than French food! Overall really fair priced as well. Total was about $80 USD.

Yelp
I decided to try this place since I was staying at the hotel right above and I'll just briefly list the commentary I have. Placed a takeout order of yaki udon and spicy salmon rolls for 9pm at around 6pm-ish. I show up at 9:05pm and it's not yet ready because apparently it's a busy night. Waitress asked me to come back in 15 min since it was so busy which was not a huge problem (would have been inconvenient if I wasn't staying at the hotel...). Another Yelper mentioned it was busy when she came in on a Thursday night at 9pm so perhaps that's just a busy time. Asince the bag was stapled shut, I didn't know napkins and utensils were not included and had to come down to grab those so again, another minor inconvenience. The kind hostess/waitress at Brasserie was nice enough to give me a set of metal utensils (thank you!) Food-wise: decent for a late night snack. Might be biased because I'm from Seattle and the late night izakaya there is pretty spectacular. The meal wasn't terrible but wasn't great either -- nothing I would recommend to anyone. Sushi lacking some salt (so good for those on a low sodium diet). Also, interesting presentation for the sushi... I will say that the wait staff there were very nice and friendly. I had to take initiative and grab my take out order off the bar counter myself but they thanked me for coming in. Anyways, I have attached a photo of my order. It was 44$ CAD after tax and tip so make of that what you will.

Yelp
Definitely much better than a normal hotel restaurant, worth a visit even if you're not staying there. We stopped in for a late light lunch and had a good meal with good service. Weird perhaps to complement the miso soup, which is a really standard thing, but theirs was noticeably better than average. I don't normally like miso soup, it often seems to be some unpleasant combination of bland, salty, or even a little bitter. Theirs here was none of those things, just a little richer, a little less salty, and a little more umami than normal. The yaki udon was a saucy delight as well. The sauce was rich and flavorful, and the chicken was shockingly tender and moist. Would definitely get again!
google avatar

Sarah E.

Yelp
We stopped in for dinner - I had the miso which was perfect on a cold evening. After asking our server their favorite roll, I went with the recommended Snake. It was quite tasty! The space was cozy and the service was attentive.

Kevin R.

Yelp
The food was absolutely fantastic! I especially loved the wagyu gyoza and honey sriracha chicken bites. Although we had high hopes for the cocktails and they left something to be desired, the drink menu has a lot of potential with some recipes that truly do sound amazing.

Yelp
I stopped by Kyo Bar for dinner after hearing good things about it a while ago. The place had a very chill and bar vibe. In terms of food specifically, I tried their Chef's Choice 10 Piece Sashimi, the Haru Roll, and Chef's Choice 12 Piece Maki. All the food was somewhat disappointing given the price and rating. For the sashimi, I had Tuna (Bland), Salmon (Fishy), Hamachi (Decent), Red tuna (Chewy), and Sea bass (Ok). The roll was a bit too sour which overwhelmed the other components. For the maki, I had California (Decent), Samurai (Good), and Spicy tuna (Good tuna). Overall, it's a decent place to hangout but the food didn't live up to the expectation so I'd give them 7/10
google avatar

Marina C.

Yelp
I have a gluten and dairy allergy and the staff was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating! Beyond that they were also very friendly and welcoming. The food was EXQUISITE. I can honestly say that, that was the best sushi I've ever eaten in my life. I am sad that I live so far away because if I lived closer I'm sure I would be unable to stop myself from becoming a regular customer.
google avatar

Yelp
We were craving sushi and we asked the gentleman upon check in where he recommended. WOW what a great sushi restaurant! The SNAKE ROLL was amazing. I ordered the spicy scallop roll so fresh!

Yelp
This is a good place all together This place is good for sharing food. Service depends of the day, sometimes it's very slow before the waiter comes to get your order. The food tho is really good, they have cold and hot options. My favourites to get here are the sushis, seaweed salad and also the karrage chicken The udon noodles were a dissapointed tho. They also have good drinks We had the Japanese style beigne and it was really moist and good This place is located in the old port and in the summer they have a small patio outside. This place is great for small and big groups. Definitely a must try for Japanese cuisine.

Cathrina D.

Yelp
Food was one of the best Japanese cuisine I've eaten - of course a little pricey. The ambience was great. A party of four we spent about $240 Canadian dollars. Service was excellent. No problems there! The location was so close to Chinatown where we stayed and the Basilica of Notre Dame. I'll go there again if ever I go back to Montreal.
google avatar

Neluta G.

Yelp
Sushi, yes please! Make a reservation this place is packed. Staff is extremely attentive. Some of the freshest and most delicious sushi I had. The pork belly seasoned very well and cooked perfectly. Everything was amazing, great wine and cocktails selection. A must in Montreal, located very close to the Notre-Dame Basilica, so again Uber is highly recommended.

Yelp
I was blown away by KYO! I am extremely picky with my sushi, and I cannot believe this restaurant has any reviews below 5 stars. Everything about my meal was absolutely incredible, and I will definitely remember this experience! I was lucky to get a seat at the sushi bar despite arriving without a reservation on a Friday night. The atmosphere was very trendy and while I definitely felt underdressed in my jeans, no one batted an eye. Service was akin to that of a high-end restaurant. My server recommended a sake that paired very well with my meal. The quality of the fish was extremely high. The o toro was among the best I've had, melting in my mouth and leaving me wanting to eat nothing else for the rest of my life. The king salmon was also incredibly smooth and buttery, my favorite! The paradis roll was delicious. I also enjoyed the petoncle (scallop) wasabi roll, but I will note that there wasn't a lot of scallop to be found. I know this is going to sound crazy, but I was nearly moved to tears when I was presented with my last dish of king salmon sashimi. It was that beautiful! I had the honor of watching the main sushi chef create his art throughout the evening, and such incredible care was taken with the presentation of each dish that I felt humbled to witness the masterpieces he created. Overall, an experience to be remembered!

Tanvir H.

Yelp
It seems like a popular place as it was packed and we had to make a reservation. Even with the reservation, we had to wait about 10 minutes after the scheduled time for them to have the table ready. The food options were all very good and our waiter seemed really excited to answer all of our questions. We were from out of town and had some questions about recommendations in the area and he essentially said say no more and had a wealth of information for what we wanted to know. It is a good place to check out I think the only part of my experience I wasn't keen on was that I didn't feel filled from their food and kept feeling the urge to order more items. The food is delicious, but the cost will add up. It's great to meet with some friends to hangout and split the cost as it has a very nice casual relaxed atmosphere

Yelp
I got takeout because I had a long day. The folks who worked at FOH were really nice. But the food was just OK. I got the yaki udon and it was super salty; the rainbow roll which overall was pretty good; and the beignets which were the best things I got. It was the small things though - I had asked if there were utensils in the bag and was told yes, but there weren't, so I had to go back.
google avatar

Evelyn M.

Yelp
We happened to stumble upon KYO when we got back from a tour and were starving. We sat at the bar and ordered a bunch of stuff. All of the rolls were delicious and their waygu gyozas were my favorite. The place is super cute and super trendy. The service was good, fast and efficient.
google avatar

Nicole A.

Yelp
Restaurant is very close to notre dame cathedral and walking distance from several hotels which is really nice. Food was fresh and tasty! We had the oysters to start, chef choice sashimi platter, pork kakumi (pork belly essentially) and chocolate bread pudding with matcha sauce for dessert. Enjoyed all of the above and would highly recommend - the sashimi platter especially! We even ordered another serving of 10 sashimi because it was that good. The only thing that could be improved is the speed but recognize that it's a Saturday night packed house though. Celiac friendly menu available which is great. Overall: Would definitely come again!

Yelp
Kyo is a beautiful restaurant, so it's a shame that the quality of the food does not measure up. What we ordered: -Agedashi Tofu: normally my favorite appetizer when ordering at an izakaya, but this was disappointing. Served with a sweet sauce reminiscent of ketchup. Probably the worst agedashi tofu I've ever been served. -Takoyaki: not bad but expensive for what you get. $13 for 4 pieces. Worth mentioning that the presentation was cute though. -Gyoza: we got the chicken gyoza. Not much different from the gyoza you can get at Costco (which I enjoy) -Tataki sake: not much flavor, weird lukewarm temperature -Chef's choice 15 pc maki rolls: if your idea of "good" sushi is a California Roll, this combo is for you! At least half of the pieces were glorified California Rolls. One was a California roll with some roe sparingly sprinkled on top. One was basically a California roll but instead of rice, quinoa (or even tempura flakes?) were used. Not good at all. We waited a while for this item, likely because it was forgotten. I wish they had just completely forgotten to give it to us so we wouldn't have the misfortune of eating it. Not to mention it was $39 for cheaply made rolls.

Yelp
I usually make reservations, but places will still accept early arrivals if they can accommodate. We tried an hour before our set time, but This restaurant did not have any spaces or even a bar to have some drinks at, the bar space was being used for dining reservations. We were seated at our scheduled time. The place was packed. Ordered apps of karage chicken and calamari. Karage reminded me more of chicken tenders tho the calamari tasted great, and has a nice texture. We also ordered a few speciality sushi rolls. The sauces used were tasty but they overwhelmed the rolls. Not too impressed and would not recommend friends to Go.

Yelp
Spent my 30th birthday in Montréal and had a lovely birthday dinner at Kyo! Luckily it was just a few blocks from my hotel so it was an easy walk and easy to find. It was a celebration, so naturally we got some beers the size of our heads and sake along with some appetizers, sashimi, and rolls. EVERYTHING was delicious and truly hit the spot. We were talking about Kyo for days after and even when we got home from our trip! Our server was super attentive and helpful, assisting us with picking out a sake we thought we'd like best. Cannot express enough how much I enjoyed my birthday dinner at Kyo!

Yelp
Another late night choice within walking distance of the rental, I popped over to get some late dinner nibbles to bring back. I ordered a couple of pieces of sushi, a couple of rolls, gyoza, some edamame, and sake, all to go, while I sipped on an old fashion while I waited. The old fashion was perhaps the best one I had during the trip. As for the food, the loup de mar and yellowtail sushi were both fresh and tasty. The rolls were a little small. The Haru was pretty standard for a cucumber roll, but the other (I forgot which ) was pretty small. We also had the chicken gyoza (good) and edamame standard but ample. Overall a good sushi meal in the neighborhood.

Yelp
This is a rather upscale Japanese restaurant close to many hotels and attractions in Montreal. Not so fancy that you have to dress up but fancy in terms of food presentation, taste of food, quality of food and service. We sat outside for lunch and I had the tuna poke bowl and my friend had the chicken bento box. Both were served with choice of salad, edamame or miso soup. We both got the salad which was an excellent choice with its black sesame dressing. My bowl was really great. The pineapple added a nice touch. The bento box though really caught my eye. Comes with a roll of chef's choice and the day we went it was a salmon cucumber roll which my friend shared. Also the veggies were not tempura which was a nice touch. It also came with a salad so if you get a bento box, you might want to get soup Or edamame to start. Can't wait to go back! Nice interior decor as well.

Yelp
Great overall experience! We had various rolls and appetizers which were all great. I also tried the chef's mix tempura which was great. Good drinks, good conversations led to a great evening.

Yelp
we went here on our first night in Montreal after getting off the plane. It was a great place. We had the snake sushi roll, which was excellent and the curry chicken.

Yelp
My family and I enjoyed this place so much. Great location, awesome food. The Tataki is to die for!! Overall one of my favorite spots while in Montreal

Yelp
The ambiance was very nice, and salmon tataki appetizer was delicious, but the chef's choice of rolls was quite underwhelming. Very big and not a great variety. The beef roll was drowned in sauce. Our waitress ( I didn't get her name, but learned she was originally from Columbia) didn't check in on us until we were done. I told her we were disappointed in the beef rolls which is why we didn't eat them. At 98$ every roll should have been a winner. There was some spilled soy sauce on the table which she ignored and didn't wipe the table. I cleaned it up with my napkin. because I was sick of looking at it, so for a pricey Japanese restaurant, the service could have been better, and so should the Chef's Choice rolls.
