Everything we got was delicious! My favorites were the matcha float (mixed in), the strawberry matcha latte, and the matcha crepe cake. I liked the crepe cake more than the towel cake. Next time for sure I'll try other cake flavors. The aesthetic is sooo cute, with wooden trays and nice white plates.

Google
Green tea, Hojicha, Milk ice cream, and tea drinks are the best menu items to try hands down. At the very least a lot more flavorful and interesting than vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry flavors. But don't be fooled by the aesthetically pleasing desserts because they are only that. To our dissapointment the Milk Cap Cake was surprisingly dry and bland and the sakura snowball is just slightly sweet formed jello. If you come, stick with the ice cream and tea drink classics and you won't be dissappointed.

Google
Uber Eats. Great “to go” container/presentation. The Ube Milk Cap Cake was spongy & moist 😋 & the Mango Crepe Layer Cake was some of the best I’ve ever had. The pictures speak for themselves. Can’t wait to try other desserts! 10/10

Google
Absolutely hated everything. The Dream of Sakura (2pc) has an odd undertaste that you don't expect, in addition to the sweetness. It doesn't come from the syrup; it just underlies the jelly. The Chocolate Crêpe Layer Cake has such an odd taste, it almost was like the chocolate cream was for something else and just repurposed for this cake. The Coconut Latte Mousse Cake was the only remotely decent thing, but again, the mousse part had NO FLAVOR until the coconut hit. So disappointed after I spent $40 on everything. Waste of my money

Google
I came here two days in a row because the matcha was so good! They let you sample the ice cream before you choose which one you want and the matcha quality is very good. The matcha latte and the hojicha matcha soft serve swirl were delicious.

Google
Really nice desserts. I’ve had their matcha crepe cake, their brown sugar cake and their Ube cake and none of them have disappointed me. The workers were really nice and helped me pick something out the first time I came.

Google
Very nice atmosphere and friendly service! I went to try Japanese matcha drinks for the first time and didn’t love my strawberry matcha latte - it was too bitter for my taste even at 100% sweetness. Their matcha crepe cake was very good though.

Google
I've tried the Kyo Matcha in Rockville before but wanted to go to this location since it's so much closer now! They had a BOGO 50% deal on drinks when I went which was a great value for 2 matcha drinks. Both tasted really good! The decor/atmosphere of this one is also really pretty and they have some tables to dine in at.

Yelp
International chain aptly anchored to a retail/residential complex including a ramen joint, a Vietnamese fast casual concept, and at least two other Asian influenced dining options. Aesthetics for the space and the presentation of the desserts and beverages are definitely 5 stars. Taste tends to veer on the sweeter side of the Asian dessert palate so not sure if it's intentional but nonetheless still not as cloyingly sweet as its Western counterparts. 4.5 stars for me but I will round up since it's a nice neighborhood option to have and my daughter is a matcha monster so always brings a smile to my face to see her enjoy a treat here.

Yelp
I wish I lived nearby to visit all the time. I only had the stomach space for 1 drink, so my friend and I each got the matcha lavender latte. There were so many things I wanted to try though, like the ice cream and crepe cake. The matcha lavender latte was very milky and sweet. More of a dessert drink. I would have appreciated a stronger matcha taste, but I did order a matcha lavender latte and they delivered on that. The seating area was clean and bright. A great place to chat with friends and enjoy your treats. Parking was a little maze - most spots are down in a garage with unclear markings, but once you do find your way, Kyo validates parking for 3 hours and it's worth it!

Yelp
First time visit and I enjoyed the experience. The menu had quite a few options and I felt a bit overwhelmed but the lady was very patient with me and offered suggestions. I sampled the hojicha ice cream and it was really good! I ended up ordering a slice of the limited time mango crepe cake and a half sweet hojicha tea, no toppings. I had never had this tea before and it was amazing! I ended up ordering two more to go, esp since there was a BOGO deal! I sat inside and enjoyed my items. There are a few tables and the restaurant is bright. Parking can be validated in the garage or can find street where available. While I'll definitely be back again, I was quite disappointed to get all the way home to discover that both of my drinks had some type of boba pearls in them. I am not a fan of boba pearls at all and had to drain the tea off to drink it. The tea still tasted good but I would have preferred to drink it out of the original cup without the toppings. Oh well. I'll be sure to check before I leave the next time! Still a nice spot to visit and I'll be back to have the hojicha ice cream and more tea (no boba pearls)!

Yelp
I got the strawberry matcha latte with oat milk which was rich in flavor and creamy. It isn't that sweet so perfect as is for someone who doesn't like super sweet drinks. Next time I'd probably ask to add more strawberry. The drink came out very quick and the atmosphere was nice and clean.

Yelp
Super cute space! Very underwhelmed with my matcha though. For $9 I'd rather make my own.
google avatar

Akshitha I.

Yelp
Tried the strawberry matcha latte at Kyo Matcha, and while the matcha itself was clearly high quality and smooth, I found the strawberry flavor a bit too subtle for my taste. That said, they do have a few great deals for first-time customers through their app, which is a nice bonus. Definitely planning to return to try their regular matcha latte. Hoping it will be great as the matcha quality is no doubt amazing.

Yelp
I've visited Kyo-Matcha twice, and unfortunately, both experiences left me un-impressed. During my first visit, my friends ordered matcha lattes... I wasn't a fan of it as the matcha tasted grassy, imo. On my second visit, I decided to try the Banana Milk topped with cheese foam. I was really excited to try this drink because I love Binggrae's Japanese banana milk; and I've recently discovered cheese foam, and love getting it on my lattes. I thought the pairing would be delicious, but it fell flat. The banana flavor was faint, and the cheese foam was barely noticeable with just a thin layer on top. It honestly felt like a letdown and not worth the price. However, my friend did rave about the towel cake, so I'm willing to give their desserts a try on my next visit--I'll just be skipping the drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
I've gone many many times and I'm just not that into it. The drinks are fine but nothing spectacular. The desserts are very very very pricey. And you can validate your parking but it is a super pain to get in and out of the shop. The matcha and Hojicha are fine but after 2-3 sips it feels gone.... For price, taste, and value, unless they are having one of their deals, I would skip.
google avatar

Yelp
Their crepe cakes are so good! I've tried the tiramisu and mango ones and loved both. Their vanilla custard is also delicious. It's a nice clean space and the slices are very generous. It's also served nicely on the stone plates, and ordering is easily done on their kiosks.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally a place with high quality matcha in the DMV! I popped in to try their matcha latte after hearing such great things and it was amazing! I can't wait to go back and try more desserts and drinks. If you're a matcha lover you must come here!
google avatar

Cynthia C.

Yelp
Their matcha soft serve isn't the best I've had in the area, but it's a nice option in the area. It's a very mild matcha flavor that's palatable for anyone; non-matcha lovers included. I didn't try any of their other desserts, but I could see a wide variety of them ordered just by glancing through the cafe so they all looked delicious and popular enough. I wouldn't go out of my way, but it's a nice spot to stop by for a sweet treat if I'm ever in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect matcha latte, and the swirl matcha and milk soft serve was amazing. No outdoor seating here but a handful of tables inside. I'll be back.

Yelp
We sampled the ice cream before buying and the vanilla (milk) flavor was superb! We ended up going with the peach oolong crepe layer cake and the brown sugar boba milk cap cake. They were aesthetically pleasing but we didn't care for them. The brown sugar milk over the cake was good but the cake itself was nothing to write home about, a basic sponge cake. The texture of the peach oolong crepe layer cake was good but the peach wasn't strong. It came across as if we were drinking tea not having a dessert. You park in the garage next to the restaurant and than Kyo Matcha will validate inside!
google avatar

Sahiba S.

Yelp
I love matcha so I wanted to try this establishment as soon as I heard about it. The soft serve was very delicious but the cake was a bit dry. Overall pretty solid experience and would recommend to visit. Nice ambiance.

Yelp
I love that they're building this little area out, so after we filled our tummies at dinner around the corner, we came here to grab dessert. Quick and dirty (service)- the nice employee let me try their hojicha (which actually wasn't gross and watered down like other places), so I ordered their parfait but with hojicha. My openly complaint? That there weren't enough mochi on top because I dropped one walking back to the car, but everything else hit the spot from the sweet red beans to the crunchy Frosted Flakes to the matcha cake. *Parking garage and street parking

Yelp
Lovely bright and open dessert spot! Friendly staff members. They have a spot for you to order at the counter as well as a self ordering kiosk. I ordered a Matcha & Vanilla swirl soft serve, the matcha was the perfect flavoring was perfectly balanced and not so overwhelming. Usually I order the swirl to off balance the boldness of the matcha, but could have done it with just Matcha and been just fine.

Yelp
Mandatory sweet tooth visit after ramen next door. Employees were kind and patient -- being that you could order at the desk or at the kiosk + offered ice cream tastings. Clean inside and there's a fair amount of seating. So many options! But I decided on a mix of the matcha and vanilla ice cream cone which was a perfect mix. The matcha was a good blend and not too chalky. The iced strawberry matcha was okay- nothing bad but wasn't all that great.

Yelp
Cute Japanese dessert spot that serves cakes, sweets, ice cream and teas. It's very bright and clean inside. There are plenty of tables to enjoy and the service is very quick. You can order from the kiosk or the register. The crepe cakes are a delight. The perfect ratio of crepe layers to cream. Not super sweet so it's great.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to get matcha! The towel cake and strawberry matcha were delicious. I love the clean and modern ambiance of this place. Ordering is quick and easy through the kiosk. The only downside is that it's a bit pricey.

Yelp
An ideal spot for matcha and a variety of desserts. The Scandinavian-inspired with touch of Japanese decor creates a great atmosphere for both hanging out and working. It's a perfect choice if you're looking to steer clear of typical coffee shops.

Yelp
I went to the branch in Rockville 2 years ago and the Matcha ice cream did surprised me and marked me down. However, this time I came, I felt disappointed since the matcha did taste as strong as before The staffs are really nice and gave me Hojicha ice cream sample, I think the Hojicha one taste better than Matcha one. Btw, soft serve have 10% off after 4pm. And there are a lot of available parking space around.

Yelp
Stopped by here last week with my mom and here are my thoughts: matcha was pretty decent but service was subpar. As we walked in, no one greeted us. They had hot drinks as part of the selection on the kiosk, but after paying - we were then told by the cashier that they can't make hot drinks at the moment. It would have been nice to know hot drinks weren't available beforehand. Maybe if it was written on a sign near the kiosk or something. Second, when my mom's cup started leaking (the cap and cup didn't fit perfectly, so just holding the cup would push the liquid out) and we asked for help, another cashier behind the counter said "oh we only have one size" and did not offer any kind of solution. Lastly, I ordered my drink with boba and when I drank out of it, it didn't have any. I went back to the counter and the same person who said they only have one cup size said, "Oh I didn't know you wanted boba". I was taken aback considering as a barista, you'd know there's a sticker on the cup with order details that says if it has boba or not. For a drink that costs almost $8, I'd expect better. I had a better experience at the Rockville kyo matcha location.

Yelp
My favorites are the creamy coconut Ube soft serve, (seasonal flavor, not always available), Matcha Twist Latte floats, and the Matcha Cheesecake. The cakes are hit/miss and service can be quite sour. The Matcha Cheesecake was more like a soft silky mousse cake rather than a dense cheesecake with a bold matcha flavor. The chocolate chips and chocolate crust adds a nice sweetness and balances out the bold matcha flavor. The Ube Towel cake was fun to try filled with subtle Ube flavor whipped cream and wrapped with layers of towel. The Milk Cap topped with Ube was fun to try, but the pound cake was quite dense. I ordered the matcha roll and it was frozen rock solid. After a few bites I threw in the towel and tossed. I was looking around and thinking of ordering another type of cake and one of the staff members asked me if I wanted something else and I pointed out the matcha cheesecake and called over the manager. The manager told me that she would have thawed the roll if I exchanged the cake and there was nothing she could do since I tossed it out. I wasn't looking to score a free cake, but there was definitely a lack of empathy and the staff can be standoffish. Unique desserts and among my favorite local dessert shops in the area!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing!! Brown Sugar Boba Milk Cap Cake & Chocolate Crepe Layer cake were fantastic!

Yelp
All the food was very good. The peach oolong crepe cake was light and flavorful. Matcha tea was refreshing as well.

Yelp
I came to Kyo Matcha during Falls Church Restaurant week winter 23'-24'. They had a special where it was around $21 for a cup or cone of matcha soft serve, crepe cake slice and a agar gelatin with Sakura flower in it. The inside was aesthetic with modern vibes like wooden themed tables, lights, with LED backed signs. The service was pretty good as every employee was very hospitable. The flavor and texture of the matcha soft serve was on point. This is potentially one of my favorite matcha soft serve places now. The crepe cake was overly sweet and the cream was too thick. The agar gelatin dessert is called the dream of sakura and it had a nice bouncy texture. It was coated with some type of bean powder and came with a little bit of sweet syrup. There is a parking garage attached to this building and it is free.

Yelp
Beware: Food and ambience is good. I just got a little bit confused of how they have a bogo promotion for cake and beverage. The lady by the registrar even mentioned to us that they have a bogo for cake and drinks. Out friends decided to get 4 cakes and 4 drinks. I asked the registrar if she did not add the promotion for our transaction and she snapped and said it only applies to same drinks/same beverage. Please refrain from doing deceptive promotion!

Yelp
Went at 1145am on a Saturday morning and finally no line out the door. Ordering was quick and easy. You can order with staff or on a kiosk. First time and overwhelmed with menu so I ordered with a staff. I wanted the mix soft serve ice cream and asked for Hojicha and Matcha. Sadly they cannot satisfy the request (why not put hojicha on the bottom and finish the top with matcha)? I was told I can do only mix hochija with chocolate or matcha with vanilla. When I picked up my order it was served in a small plastic cup. The staff didn't ask if I wanted in a cup or cone. When I looked at the menu again, the options were printed so small. Luckily another staff heard the conversation and she was able to swap out with a cone. Hojicha has a mild nutty flavor. Worth the $7+? Not really. I would probably go back to my usual Matcha Cafe Maiko because I can mix up to four flavors with a fresh waffle cone. Welcoming space and a good backdrop for all TikTok/IG to film their posts.

Yelp
I ordered take out on their large iPad and was in and out of the restaurant in under five minutes. The swirl matcha ice cream with vanilla was delectable. I will be back!
google avatar

Eva L.

Yelp
Nice chic spot to quelch your sweet tooth. They have a plethora of variations using their matcha and hojicha. I shared a matcha/hojicha swirl, which I absolutely loved. The nuttiness mixed with the slight bittness from the matcha was a good combination. They let you swirl two of the three flavors (matcha, vanilla, and hojicha). Overall it was great. Bonus: They are also offering a discount if you order at front instead of using the kiosk. Plus parking for the deck is covered using promo code. I'm not usually a very sweet dessert person but this was the perfect subtle sweetness that I quite enjoy in desserts. I'm excited to try their different combinations when I come back.

Yelp
Cute place, fast service and cute ambiance. Love their matcha latte float and deserts.
google avatar

Vivian Z.

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite dessert places! You order through a kiosk when entering which does make the line a little longer than usually. The menu has great options ranging from ice cream to cakes to drinks to crepes! Of this is centered around match flavored items and one of the best in the area. I recommend also trying their Sakura raindrop dessert on top of their matcha items. There are a few tables inside for those that want to dine in and eat but this place is more on the grab and go side of things. There's parking within a garage and is validated by the code they have inside the restaurant!
google avatar

Deanna H.

Yelp
The main critique of this is the location is small and they only have one ordering kiosk. The staff at the counter just watch the line for the kiosk go out the door and don't say "I can take someone's order over here!" or anything... so it tends to be a long wait for the kiosk and then maybe a 5 min wait for your drink. I love the strawberry matcha latte!
google avatar

Faith E.

Yelp
Ok here's my beef: 1. I ordered my matcha latte with oat at 50% sweetness and oh my goodness it was SWEET!!! I wish they had a 25% option. Still yummy but very sweet. 2. It smelled HORRIBLE in there, I couldn't even sit to wait for my drink. For a place that doesn't have pretzels anywhere on the menu I was surprised that it smelled like pretzels. I also just have a very deep personal hatred for pretzels. 3. Staff is mostly young adults, very sweet humans but no interaction because I ordered on the giant ipad.
google avatar

Surelyne L.

Yelp
This is a cute little place for Japanese style teas, desserts & ice cream. It's quick serve...order at a kiosk...& pick up at the counter. We visited during the cherry blossom festival so they had a Sakura cheesecake for this occasion. Desserts were very good. We ordered hot green tea expecting matcha but got jasmine green tea...not a big deal but it should've been noted on the menu.
google avatar

Yurie H.

Yelp
I've been here so many times for their hojicha latte with boba (25% sweet)! The floats are also good bc their matcha and hojicha soft serves are so flavorful! The one thing I didn't like so far was the strawberry matcha latte - a huge miss - the strawberry syrup tasted artificial and the matcha flavor didn't come through at all. They have a large variety of desserts that look so good - def a cute cafe to visit with friends so you can try multiple things :). They have wifi so you can wfh/ study here too :) They have free 3 hr garage parking (you just have to register your license using the qr code/ promo they have in the store).
google avatar

AL K.

Yelp
People like to hang out here but I come for the desserts and sweets that are displayed like jewelry inside the casings. Noise level is high. If you're expecting a quiet nook this isn't it. Price is moderate.
google avatar

Megha D.

Yelp
I was in town visiting some friends and they suggested we check this place out for dessert! Parkingwise, there's a paid deck that you can park in next door (I believe it might have been free for the first hour?). Inside, the space is super clean and bright and looked like a cute spot to get work done or hangout with friends. We ordered at the counter. I got the matcha and milk swirl soft-serve. My friends also tried a towel cake (this was so cool how it looked like a towel and also the ube was delicious!!) and matcha boba. My soft-serve was absolutely delicious. I'm always a little iffy on matcha but this flavor was perfect, not too strong or bitter and mixed with the plain milk soft-server was the perfect blend of sweet. Overall, really cute spot for dessert!!
google avatar

Jung Y.

Yelp
What a cute dessert spot! Inside, it's clean and open/spacious, and there are two options for ordering - either at the kiosk or with the staff. The menu is pretty extensive, and I loved all the varieties of Asian flavors here. We got the hojicha soft serve and ube milk cap cake, which were both delicious. I wish I had room to try everything, but I'll happily have to come back!
google avatar

Kimi S.

Yelp
I wish more tea and dessert bars like this existed! Kyo Matcha is the perfect spot to get a little treat and catch up with a friend. It is casual but you the presentation, ambiance, and options still feel like an experience. I've had the full tea presentation, matcha parfait, and the hokkaido cheese cake, and they all fit in the not-too-sweet category which honestly is the Asian five star standard. My kids go crazy over the milk soft serve with oreo crumbles. Ordering is easy from the kiosk and the staff is really friendly. Love pairing this with a trip to Roll Play next door.
google avatar

Christine K.

Yelp
Milk tea and their crepe cakes are so goood! I particularly love the Kyoto milk tea and their passion fruit crepe cakes and the chocolate crepe cake. I might have ordered them one too many times via Uber eats to satisfy my late night cravings. I've only been into the store once and thought the vibe was just ok (rather loud, not a relaxing vibe, and the way the store is set up makes the long line get crowded around the entrance).
google avatar

Michaele S.

Yelp
Cute little cafe. There is bar style seating in the window as well as table and chairs in the cafe. Not a whole lot of seating. Maybe 5 of 6 sets of tables. They have it set up for you to order from a self serve kiosk and you get a number. When your order is read you can pick up your order at the front. I had a matcha latte which was good- wasn't hot enough for me but still good. I also had the towel cake- so pretty to look at. All their desserts are. It's more of rolled crepes than an actual cake and then there is filling inside. I got the matcha and red bean. It wasn't overly sweet- just the right amount.
google avatar

A L.

Yelp
Ice cream is very good here. Hojicha and matcha are standout flavors--the hojicha has a very good tea flavor, slightly bitter and not too sweet, which I really enjoyed. The matcha isn't super strong but mixed with the hojicha, it's a good combination. The milk flavor wasn't my favorite; it was just a very sweet vanilla flavor. The parfait looks nice but is hard to eat and is very cereal-heavy. I'm not the biggest fan, but if you get just the ice cream cup or cone, I think it's definitely worth it. The place has very good vibes and fast service, which adds to the overall experience.
google avatar

Andy Y.

Yelp
Great ambiance to meet with a friend or sit to do some work. Plenty of seat available during the day but can be busy in the evenings if you are looking for a quiet place. The service is friendly and prompt. Monday to Thursday between 4-6 pm, you get an extra 20% off select items! Parking is in the garage shared with the apartment and other restaurants. We will definitely be back! Enjoy!

Liliana B.

Yelp
Great service, very quick. Tiramisu cake was nice but better paired with their ice cream. No complaints.

Yelp
While in Falls Church, today, walking around, we stumbled upon this matcha spot! The inside has crisp, white walls and lovely plants and greenery to match their Matcha. They have Matcha desserts, drinks, and plenty of unique options for all. I opted for the strawberry Matcha iced latte with almond milk. I could taste that the Matcha on the top layer was really fine quality unsweetened, pure Matcha. The bottom layer had delicious, sweet strawberry that once mixed all together, made a perfectly balanced drink. It didn't last long! my friend opted for the Matcha slush with whole milk, 50% sweet , it tasted very natural and refreshing on a hot day. The ice was blended to a smooth consistency. The desserts looked absolutely incredible and if we weren't already full from a delicious brunch I would have absolutely tried the Matcha cake. Out of the ever popular Boba chains, this matcha store stands out as being very authentic and carefully crafting their specialty drinks. Worth a visit for sure :)

Yelp
We were looking for dessert (ok - we are almost always in search of dessert...) when we came across Kyo Matcha.  The menu seemed interesting and we really enjoy matcha so we thought it was worth a try.  We are so glad we did.  The space is small but cute and airy.  The menu offers a range of drinks, cakes and ice cream desserts.  We opted for the matcha soft serve with corn flakes.  The ice cream had a really rich and wonderful matcha flavor and who can resist the crunch of the frosted flakes at the bottom and the top?  The portion was generous as was the towel cake.  We had never seen this before and, sure enough, it looked just like a folded towel all wrapped up with a string.  This was also really tasty and enough to share.  The coconut black sesame roll cake didn't have as much flavor as the others butbit was still good.  The décor features plants and trees and lots of post-it notes from happy customers.  The parking garage is located right beneath. Note that Kyo Matcha validates.  You just need to use the QR code in the store.
google avatar

Yelp
Visit Kyo Matcha after finishing next door at Kyuramen. You can get some soft serve while you wait for your table next door, or visit after. so it's smart to have these to shops next to each other. Staff is friendly. I ordered the match soft serve with Oreo crumble and it was delicious. Super creamy and you could taste the matcha flavor. I want to return to to try some cakes.

Yelp
Great customer service and cute matcha cafe style. There are a lot of desserts and cakes to choose from the menu. Matcha drinks here are the best matcha I ever had and I lived in Japan for 12 years. The parking garage is near the store and the price is fair.
