"Located near the AMC Elmwood Palace movie theater in an inconspicuous strip mall, the casual and colorful Kyoto 2 is a hidden gem, delivering consistently fresh seafood in generous servings. The best deal of all is the chirashi lunch special — a heaping bowl of fresh fish over fresh daikon radish and sushi rice for under $15. It’s big enough to split." - Beth D'Addono, Clair Lorell

Impeccable service, but very average sushi! It’s not a bad thing, so Kyoto may still be worth giving a try. I had the Funky Margarita Roll and it was average…there really isn’t much more to say. From reading the description, I expected a flavor explosion but the guacamole on top felt and tasted weird in my mouth. The other guest had the Beef Teriyaki. It was cooked fine (as far as texture and execution) but needed more seasoning overall. I’m glad that I finally got to try Kyoto 2 but don’t think I’ll be returning.

The food is wonderful and very affordable! Our waiter was very friendly. Despite a very busy lunchtime crowd the food came out very quickly. The warm sake us also excellent and very inexpensive! Will recommend!

Scrumptious. Delightful bite. I love the futamaki roll. It was a big bite which fills you up quickly. Worth it.

Best Sushi in GNO area. Impeccable. Friendly staff, especially Paul, Yoshi, Deon, and Nia. Go the the sushi bar and let them them help you decide on your meal for the event.

SerpAPI
This is a great seemingly family owned restaurant. The menu is very interesting and everything we have ever had has been delicious. I traveled with a band to Japan in the 80s and these are the dishes I remember. Check it out!

Oh my goodness. The sushi was amazing. The staff super friendly and helpful. The portion sizes were huge and the price was great. I will be back for sure!

SerpAPI
The food is awsome, we had a 8.99 lunch special and it was more that we could eat so it's not only good it's also very affordable. We wish our waitress was a little more attemptive we did feel like she did the minimum at times, she was not rude or anything like that she was just not there for questions and comments. Will be back for second round sometime soon.

I was expecting a lot since the reviews were so high. The service was great. The lunch began with a nice rice noodle bowl upon entry. The dishes I had there after was sour. I ordered the Teriyaki chicken bento. The miso soup tasted bad with the very first sip. Didn't attempt to finish it. The ginger that was next to the California roll was brown and it didn't taste fresh. The roll itself was sour as well. The first two pieces were... Okay😒, but every roll piece I tried was worst than the previous one so I stopped eating that as well. The box was a better dish, although I ate it with caution. I don't know, maybe they were having an off day since it was a Monday. Be that as it may, don't think I'll return.

Yelp
Great place for Japanese food in New Orleans' Elmwood area. It was our first visit since we normally go to Shogun (but it's closed on Mondays), and also Little Tokyo (but we went the day before). So glad we came by! Big pieces of quality fish for the nigiri and generous portions for the beef tataki. Hamachi kama (grilled yellowtail neck) was deliciously crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Also I'm normally not a salad person, but the Japanese side salad that accompanied the entree surprisingly good because the dressing was freshly made and super flavorful. Plenty of parking and service was fast.

Yelp
Food good. Service great. The thing I like the most about this place is the option for take out.

Yelp
Are here for an early dinner on a Tuesday. Promptly seated and served my drink quickly. Server was very nice. I ordered three rolls, dynamite roll, Stevie roll and rainbow roll. All three were very good and plated beautifully. The rainbow roll came with thin lemon slices between each roll. Aside from looking nice, it added a nice flavor. The portions are quite large and I probably should have only ordered 2 rolls. The wasabi was very fresh and they serve the rolls with a nice portion which I really appreciate. The inside of the restaurant is pretty standard. It's sort of long and skinny with a bar at one end and the sushi counter at the other. Would go back.

Yelp
Service was great, we had the bento lunch box and tempura udon and some sushi, kids loved the tempura. Overall it was a solid, lunch, family friendly atmosphere and tasty. Only bad thing was The sushi wasn't anything to rave home about but I think we also ordered wrong. We had the vegetable sushi which wasn't great with the seaweed salad and the rice was slightly warm.

Bill I.

Yelp
Visited Kyoto 2 Sushi last week and I was thoroughly impressed! The portions were generous, leaving me completely satisfied without feeling overstuffed. Each dish we ordered, from the delicate nigiri to the hearty rolls, was bursting with flavor. The Japanese scallop is delicious Quality is definitely a priority here; the fish tasted fresh, and the rice had the perfect texture. Moreover, everything was surprisingly affordable, making it a great value for the quality of food you get. The preparation was meticulous, showcasing the chefs' attention to detail and respect for traditional sushi making. Definitely a must-visit for sushi lovers looking for an authentic experience without breaking the bank. 5 stars all the way!

Yelp
Fresh and creative; sushi, sashimi and kitchen items all fresh and delicious! Service efficient and friendly. Will return soon!

Yelp
We went a bit early for dinner, but the kitchen staff has already started up and had everything ready to go. It is perfect time to get food quickly and this is Authentic Japanese food as we talked with the chef who came and talked to us in Japanese. It turns out I picked pretty damn good sashimi and sushi dinner (I asked the young waitress, of course). Just look at the chirashi sushi dinner set! It's got more sashimi than I ever expected. A lot more and the price was totally worth it. This place is definitely worth stopping.

Constant M.

Yelp
One of the many food stops while I was there visiting my bro from medical school at Louisiana. This high class sushi diner did not disappoint. BUT, since it has been more than 2 years I don't really remember the names of the pictured dishes. But we definitely left with a full stomach and a happy mood.

Janet N.

Yelp
This was my go to sushi place. I used to frequent here all the time but due to covid, work, and customer service, I haven't been dining in for a while but still order to go. The food is delicious and the value is good. Customer service is a hit and miss therefore I mainly order to go now.

Tad D.

Yelp
The sashimi was average and the sushi rolls were very low grade. The filling was the ground up "bologna style" where one can't see the fish, veggie, etc... You can honestly get better sushi at Breaux Mart by a long shot. The edamame was bland with no salt. The staff was very nice and the bathrooms clean.

Jayde L.

Yelp
Take out or eating in is always a treat at Kyoto 2. Really enjoy their Desiree roll. Wonderful selection of sushi along with some salads and soba noodles. Ordering out in the time of COVID is really quick and easy. Just called and they had all the food ready within 25mins (may differ depending when you call but I called on Saturday evening) and they even made sure to write the name of our drinks on the cups to make sure we didn't mix them up. Sometimes it's just the little things that make the experience better.

Yelp
If you love sush,i give this place a try. The food is always fresh and delicious. Very courteous employees and attentive.

Yelp
Great sushi, good prices decent ambiance, go love it yourself like so many do! The funky margarita roll is quite amazing, amongst plenty of other unique offerings. Enjoy

Yelp
A really good sushi spot that is away from the city! We just happened to be passing by when we saw it and walked in without knowing anything. The servers were all really nice and accommodating. You get cold noodles when you sit down! We got the California roll, the dynamite roll, the sushi combination dinner and the mango seafood salad. It was a lot of food, but our favorite were the California roll and the mango seafood salad! The rolls are typical of any other sushi that you find in other places - there's nothing too special. But our favorite was the mango seafood salad. It has a sashimi and seaweed salad with mango and a ponzu sauce. It's honestly made to perfection and would recommend it 10/10! We went back five days later for the lunch menu and their lunch menu is really good too foe the price. We for the katsu don and the sushi lunch. Good amount for the price. Since I live near here, found a new sushi place to go to!

Yelp
Everything about this place is AMAZING! I know Yelp has a max of five stars but Kyoto 2 deserves ten stars!!! If you want the most delicious sushi and Japanese cuisine, look no further because they are THE BEST EVER. Everything is delicious, fresh, and superior in every way. My stepdaughter, who is a sushi connoisseur, said Kyoto 2 is even better than what she had while visiting Japan! So that tells you something right there...and as for me, I've been a loyal customer for the last 16 years. They have the most fabulous sushi rolls, especially the specialty rolls...we love the Hollywood roll, the Rainbow roll, and most of all the Tabo roll which we order every time. Also the hanabi roll, no name roll, unforgettable roll, yum yum roll, special eel roll, and salmon avocado roll are also faves. I'm obsessed with their udon noodle soup too! Also worthy of mention is their seaweed and noodle salads which are *chefs kiss* perfection!! OH and for dessert, you MUST try the red bean mochi - which is Japanese ice cream and it's delicioussss!!! The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, just the right size but still knows how to accommodates guests. And Kristin always gives the greatest customer service and takes great care of us! (Thank you Kristin!) So RUN don't walk to Kyoto 2 because once you eat there you'll never want to go anywhere else!!

Yelp
The food is sooooo nice Ask the chief special order The boss is such a good Japanese man Japanese food so nice

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff. The sushi was fresh and delicious. I was most certainly visit here again.

Yelp
Close enough to the Elmwood Shopping Center to be a great place, yet just far enough away to not be too crowded, this is located in a small strip mall that has plenty of parking. The staff are friendly, you are greeted promptly when you come in. They have a large menu to choose from. I ordered my usual sushi items and was surprised at how large the rolls were. I could not finish it all. The crab rangoons were fresh and delicious. Every thing was clean inside, as were the restrooms. They were so busy buy nothing fell thru the cracks at all.

Meagan J.

Yelp
I love Kyoto 2! The sushi is always fresh and well displayed. The rolls are huge and stuffed for an amazing price. I typically go for lunch and get the 2 roll combo (2 rolls, soup, salad, and noodles) which cost 9.82 after tax! Personally, I find the sushi to be fresher than Tsunami and the miso is tastier. The service is quick and the staff is friendly! Please visit if you're in Harahan.

Josh B.

Yelp
Probably my new favorite sushi joint in the whole area and by far! The rolls are not only stuffed and huge, but rolled tight so that they don't fall apart even though they are so big. The complimentary noodles that come with any order are delicious, especially with a little soy sauce mixed with it. I ordered the lunch roll combo (2 dynamite rolls) which also comes with a miso soup and a ginger dressing salad. The miso soup came out very hot and the salad had plenty dressing. I also ordered salmon egg sushi topped with quail eggs which were the perfect size and delicious. Not only were the rolls huge but you can tell that the fish and vegetables are very fresh. If I had to find any con for this place, the only issue can be parking around lunch time. The two parking lots get packed due to several popular restaurants all sharing the same lots. The service was great and I will be back again and again for sure!

Stephen F.

Yelp
Solid sushi, very good service, in a pleasant space in a strip mall next to Reginelli's and a couple of other places. This is one of our go-to places if we're doing dinner-and-a movie at AMC Elmwood - conveniently, it's a block away, and service is reliably efficient.

Donna A.

Yelp
We were looking for sushi open during the pandemic shutdown. There are not many available but was happy to see Kyoto 2 open. The staff was very kind & friendly. We order lunch roll specials. I ordered the crunchy roll & snow crab roll. They both delicious. Even my husband agreed & he picky about sushi. Miso soup was delicious! I will definitely be returning. Prices are very reasonable as well.

Joseph T.

Yelp
My no name roll was kinda wired I dident realize it had that much fake crabmeat I will never get that again and the unforgivable roll wasent as good as it use to be but you guys always were good do no what happened

Durock H.

Yelp
I am not one to complain but I wasted $50 tonight on sushi at this place. IT WAS TERRIBLE!!!!! I should have gone to Uchi Sushi which is always good. The salmon roe was discolored, flat, and tasted poor at best. The mackerel had some sort of lining on it which I have never seen before and was thin. The crunchy roll had "ZERO" crunch and was soggy. I will be shocked if I'm not sick tomorrow. I called and complained to no avail. People, do not waste your money at Kyoto 2. I will NEVER go back.Yelp is incorrect!!! I am not from Stonewall. I'm from Harahan.

Mary Beth E.

Yelp
Unfortunately the chef or manager could care less about our meal when I called. The wasabi had no taste. We had ordered here many times and enjoyed it. This evening the wasabi was tasteless. and the white fish ordered was not white fish! I called because we have enjoyed the food here, and honestly I just wanted them to know so they would fit it for the next customers. Talking to manager about it. He transferred me to the chef. He gave me an excuse how the wasabi needs to be mixed differently and it was the same as always. And how all taste buds are different. I will NOT be returning.

amelia d.

Yelp
DELISH!!!! Super good lunch deals and such a vast menu!! Only thing I would not recommend ordering is the cooked fish appetizer, very very very gamey tasting!

Eugenie B.

Yelp
I have had the pleasure of dining with Yoshi for many many years. After Hurricane Katrina I had moved to California. Every now and again we would stop in at Kyoto 2 for sushi. It always amazed me how Yoshi never failed to remember me even though quite a bit of time had passed in between visits. The sushi is consistently good. Yoshi can make several dishes not on the menu if you simply tell him what your fish preferences are. The rest of the staff are just as accommodating. Small, intimate sushi joints are much more preferable to me than the larger, crowded establishments. Personal choice here. The 5 star rating is for the many years of service as Sushi Chef Yoshi! Always a delightful experience!

John G.

Yelp
I think this is legitimately the best sushi I've ever had. The rolls were huge and the fish was insanely fresh. The chef here is clearly passionate about his work.

Daniela G.

Yelp
It is on my top 5 favorite sushi restaurants in town! I love the fact that they can make the rolls with brown rice. Salmon and tuna are always very fresh. The crunchy roll they make here is my favorite crunchy ever - it is creamy and it has tiny shrimps in the mix, and the tempura is always crunchy. Since we usually go for lunch, we always do the roll combination lunch special, I think it is a great deal for $9 - 2 rolls of your choice, salad, soup and small noodle salad. It can get crowded for lunch, specially on fridays, but the service is always good and fast. I am always out of there within 30-40min of arrival, which is a good thing at lunch time.

Sharon B.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite Japanese restaurant!! The owner is Japanese which is a HUGE plus! He takes pride in the dishes that he serves. The food is always cooked to perfection and delicious! Not to mention a work of art!

C E.

Yelp
Kyoto2 is a little gem in Harahan! The food is always amazing and the owner is always on hand to offer yummy suggestions or tell about some off menu creation! They are super kid friendly and always have sporting events on tv!

Kathy W.

Yelp
Kyoto 2 is my favorite! I love the servers there ! Ask for Kristen .shes awesome! The sake is wonderful and so is the spring rolls!!

Corey S.

Yelp
Love this place. They make the best sushi I have ever tasted. I always stop by in the New Orleans area. Try the Desiree Roll if you never ate sushi before it'll change your life.

Cami G.

Yelp
Authentic Japanese food from a Japanese chef. A great specialty rolls selection. Sushi rolls are ginormous. The Margarita roll has a refreshing avocado topping, u can get it with half crawfish and half spicy tuna. I also got the baked seafood appetizer. Its baked to perfection in a house cream egg sauce. Give it a try and u will order it everytime u come here!

Becky K.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try for girls night. I started off with the crab rangoons which were delicious. For my meal I had the No Name roll. It is a soy paper roll with various types of fish in it. It was huge, I couldn't finish. Very yummy. Fast and friendly service. Reasonably priced.

Michael M.

Yelp
Best Sushi in Harahan. My youngest son and wife always sit at the sushi bar. The staff remembers our favorite rolls, salads and drink order. Rock and Roll & Special Crunchy Roll are a must have for me and my son. Thanks Paul, Yoshi and Leon for this gem of Sushi bar.

Matt R.

Yelp
Ok, I moved out of NOLA two years ago and just recently moved back... today was the first time I've been to K2 in at least that long. It's nowhere near as good as it used to be, and it used to be one of my favorites... the ingredients today didn't have much flavor, and the salmon in my Miami roll didn't taste fresh. The rolls are cut too big and have way too much rice, which masks the already diminished flavors inside. Before the meal, we ordered edemame as an appetizer. It was barely warm, not salted, and not very "appetizing." We also noticed that they now bring you a "hot towl" before the meal... except that it is a lukewarm packaged wipe instead... I don't know, this just didn't feel right. BOTTOM LINE: Not as good as it used to be... :(

Sandra B.

Yelp
Amazing sushi! Super fresh, cute restaurant and wonderful service. The rolls are big so orderly carefully. I can't wait to go back!

Shuo H.

Yelp
Hmm I wonder why this place doesn't have more customers! Maybe cause I didn't go during peak dinner hour? And also on a random Tuesday... BUT I'm a fan :) our server was friendly, service was fast, and CLEAN bathrooms! Places with a blargh (word that I use to describe stuff sometimes :x haha...) bathroom are a big no no. Funny story though... So I came here with my mom and since we came to America when she was in her 40's, her English isn't the best; and this is what happens when we're at our table. Mom: Let's order the F**ky roll. Me: ... (o.o)" Mom it's pronounced "fuNky." Mom: Ooo OK the F**kING roll. Me: ... (-.-)" Anyhoo, we ordered the funky* margarita roll (along with the special crunchy roll), and it was quite delicious; fresh, flavorful, with a lot of seafood like crawfish inside the roll itself :) and their portions are generous! Appetizer and 2 rolls were enough to satiate our hunger; but since they had tempura ice cream (fried green tea ice cream [vanilla is offered too] in tempura batter with (I think) a blueberry sauce drizzle; yumm), how could we resist?? :D

Jen L.

Yelp
I'm sad to say that I think they're quality has declined. I've been to this location over the years and I'm afraid the attention to quality and detail is not there any more. It's still an OK choice if you want rolls (and everything I ordered on my last visit was cooked...for the invalid I was delivering to/eating with). The snowcrab tasted mostly like mayo. the crunchy roll was blah. The veggie rolls were good though. Bonus points for the staff at the bar who was very sweet to my niece while we waited for our takeout.

Huyen N.

Yelp
Food were made fairly quickly, which was great. However, the rolls were poorly wrapped and unevenly cut. Mediocre sushi and rolls. There's better around the city.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
We've been longtime regulars and the food has never wavered. The fish is always so fresh and we feel comfortable eating anything on the menu. Our favorites are the funky margarita roll, Steve roll, no name roll, and the chirachi lunch special.

Katlyn S.

Yelp
The food is always great. Luisa is always the best server; she's so sweet and always takes great care of all of her customers! Love this place so much, definitely my go-to. Come here just for Luisa, she really brightens up the room with her smile, her grace, and her hue of the week. She is truly Miss United States.

Amber H.

Yelp
Hands down favorite sushi place ever! I always get the lunch special! The portions are always huge, and the food itself is always so fresh! They never let me down. They have great quality and they are affordable.

Roger B.

Yelp
We ate at Kyoto 2 for the first time as our usual sushi house was closed. The restaurant looked fairly busy for a Monday night, but we were escorted right away to a two-topper. My wife ordered the Unforgettable roll while I tried the Alaska roll. My order was enough for me, but we couldn't believe the large size of the Unforgettable roll. I had one piece, my wife ate her share and I think 3 pieces came home for lunch the following day. Only real complaint was that they ran out of complimentary noodle salad. Service was good. There are 2 TVs, one at each end of the restaurant. They were set to different channels.

Troy E.

Yelp
Legit lunch spot. I would return. The rolls are good and portioned on the large size. Good lunch specials, good service.

Fionn C.

Yelp
My fiancée and I stop in here at least 2 times a month for Friday date night. We just can't get enough! The food here is to die for! The fish is fresh, the beer is cold, and the staff are friendly. We usually start off with either a cold noodle salad or a squid/seaweed salad. Both are delicious and we usually get one of each and share. We usually get between 3 and 4 rolls to split between us. I highly recommend the Funky Margarita with spicy crawfish. It is killer. The fresh fish combined with the avocado and spicy crawfish hits the spot for me every time. As for alcohol, I recommend the cold unfiltered saké or a large Kirin. Both will quench your thirst and give you just the right amount of buzz.

Damaris M.

Yelp
Definitely love this place , however I feel as if the quality is suffering a bit . Definitely a good quick lunch or dinner spot
