"There are nearly 300 pieces in Kyoto Costume Institute’s virtual collection, from the 18th through 20th centuries. Every item of clothing—from a delicate florid silk robe (1750) to a technicolor Thierry Mugler blazer from the 1980s—is a work of art." - Sophie Friedman

A costume institute with a small gallery space that showcases well curated themes on dress and fashion history. Most of the books in its research library are obviously in Japanese but I spent a good hour looking at the exhibit. It was informative and had rare and excellent examples of costume and fashion. It is definitely a place to visit for the dress history aficionado.
