This place was so gross. Not like any other hibachi place we have been to. The waitress was kind but didn’t know English very well which created that communication barrier. The chef was not engaging at all. When the chef came out with the food, he had all of the raw meat on one plate touching eachother (chicken, shrimp, scallops, steak). We should’ve left right then and there but felt bad since the little was already eating steamed rice. The fried rice was an up charge which was ridiculous since that’s the biggest part of going to a hibachi restaurant. The chef dumped what looked like frozen great value mixed veggies on the fried rice and it was so soggy. The side of veggies were over cooked making them soggy in way too much sauce. We ended up not even touching our plates because of the food ick. So much cross contamination we didn’t want to risk it. When the check came, they didn’t include the tip in it yet so we only had a set amount on a gift card and were going to leave the tip in cash. The waitress came back saying “card no work” so I thought I forgot to activate it. Turns out she tried to add the tip right then and there which was the reason the card didn’t go through. Good thing we aren’t local because it was hard to find good food in Williamsburg.

Google
Nice restaurant but we've had better service and food. The chef didn't really engage us other than a couple hot fires and the waitress didn't speak great English. The food was okay.

Kerrigan R.

Google
The service was very good. The hibachi was amazing. One less star because an upcharge of $2.25 to get fried rice instead of white is a bit ridiculous. Their prices are already higher as is. The rainbow roll fish was not very firm, more soft. The shrimp portion of the hibachi is huge, but you don't get enough rice, especially considering the charge.

Google
Shrimp cooked to perfection. Ginger sauce was best i had. Service great chef cooked everything to perfection

Google
Honestly feel bad to write a negative review some of the people there seem rather nice and are just trying to make a living.. but the food and service outside of being seated was not good. The fried rice had way to much oil and little flavor.. the cooked sushi was decent the shashmi was mixed but overall not good hoping they froze it at some point and then stored it properly, actually worried about getting sick from the last bite wanted to spit it out but was worried about being respectful. I wouldn't even be writing this review if the M.I.A. waitress didnt follow outside looking for a tip that she would have found if she cleared the table it was half under a plate. But the fact we left half the uneaten and said no to a box should have hinted at dissatisfaction in the first place.

Google
The food was very good. I ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura and a Williamsburg sushi roll. The service was so-so. The waitress forgot to submit the order for a takeout item and had to quickly add it to the bill. She was frequently unavailable when we needed to ask for something. They have several seating rooms. We were seated in the back where the sushi counter is. Not much atmosphere.

Esther M.

Google
Very disappointing. Some of the fish (ordered sushi) tasted old and I had to spit out the shrimp. My dinner came with salad and soup but the server brought neither. The place has an odor - sort of like an old kitchen smell, not disgusting by any means, but not an appetizing aroma. The bathroom was clean and had everything, but I noticed that things were rusted.

Google
As a visitor on vacation in Williamsburg I was looking for a decent Hibachi dinner. Richmond rd is the main drag where all the Hotels and Restaurants seem to be located. I won't drag this review out nitpicking all that's wrong with it. The bottom line is stay away from the place if you're expecting good food. It's all basic, cheap, and mono-flavored. When I talk about the flavor I am essentially saying if you have the chicken, steak and Shrimp as I did then they ALL taste the same. There are no flavor profile variations. Its all the same S**T ingredients (smh lol). My Chef was messy and burned food. I thought he was going to throw sauce on my shirt multiple times. The staff overall were pleasant enough but they won't come back to you without prompting. In summary, if your not picky and hungry then terrific but that's not me. I would never consider coming back.

Yelp
This was mine and my husband's first time visiting this hibachi restaurant in Williamsburg. We ordered two different sushi rolls, and two hibachi dinners. We had a wonderful experience, and the food was out of this world. We will be returning and telling everyone about this place and how wonderful it! - The Spicers

Yelp
We had hibachi lunch and it was Good food, good service, it was also quiet and easy lunch with kids

Yelp
Local favorite, we went on a holiday Monday and it was busy but we had a reservation and were seated promptly with another family at one of a LOT of hibachi grills. This place is built for volume. Pretty loud in a fun way, lot of birthdays etc. Our chef was older, really working hard and good at it. He used fire, juggled eggs on his tools, made onion volcanos etc. not a lot of pizazz or yelling but a real show. I had chicken and scallops, others the steak, filet mignon and veggies. The meats were presented on a platter and let me tell you the portions are big. You see your steak, your whole chicken breast etc. no mystery meat or bad cuts. Super well cooked, sauces good but not great, overall a very solid job.

Yelp
Quick little Birthday dinner. Food was good. Sushi was fresh and good. Would be back.

Yelp
While looking for a place to eat on Thanksgiving we happened upon Kyoto and had a wonderful experience. The service was prompt and courteous. Additionally, the food was amazing! We will totally come back and enjoy this restaurant!

Yelp
Food and Ambience is top tier, and that's the reason for the high review. The portion sizes are also massive. Ambience is also very nice, as the decorations (interior and exterior) are beautiful. The service was fast, yet a tad unwelcoming, which is what is holding back the rating from being a 5 star.

Yelp
Nice food and a reasonable price. I was I. Williamsburg in a family vacation and came to Kyoto for dinner. It is very similar to many other Japanese Hibachi places. We came in a group of 5 around 9 pm. They close at 10 so we were lucky we arrived when we did. We got seated quickly and the waitress was very nice taking our orders. Had two kids who are picky eaters and she was very patient with them. Everyone in our group ordered a hibachi dish. They all included a cup of soup and a salad. Soup was basic broth with some mushrooms. I am allergic so I didn't partake. The salad was just some ice burg lettuce with watered down salad dressing. My dad needed some extra for his. The chef we had performed a great show while preparing our food. It was entertaining. I had the hibachi steak medium rare. The chef cooked it to my liking and it was a good cut of meat. They made us feel welcome and didn't rush us even though they were closing up. The main course was great but the soup and salad were just a waste in my opinion. The kind enjoyed their food and had plenty leftover to take with them for later.

Yelp
Great spot to go to after a long day at Busch Gardens! even though we got there after normal dinner hours, the food was fresh and prompt, and we had a great time!

Yelp
We went for my birthday, It was my first time going- employees were great food was good no complaints

Douglas W.

Yelp
This past Saturday, the family celebrated my niece's birthday. Once everyone arrived we were quickly seated. The interior was very clean. We all sat around a hibachi grill and placed our orders. I ordered a chicken hibachi meal. This consisted of bits of chicken, vegetables, and fried rice. A small bowl of miso soup and a small salad with salad dressing was also part of the meal. We were served a small bowl of miso soup first. This wetted my appetite being a little tasty. Then came the small bowl of salad. It was mainly lettuce topped with some type of orange dressing. The dressing was pretty good. For the main course, the cook fired up the grill and cooked the rice, vegetables, and then the meat. Eventually the cook placed the food on our plates. The food was good. I will go back if Im in the neighborhood. I encourage others to give this restaurant a try.
google avatar

Mary P.

Yelp
The food was good, the service was good, the ambiance is OK. We used to go there often, but something is very different now. Not much of a show, and the Chefs all did the same thing...so it was not as fun as it once was. They used to be better.

Yelp
This has been the worst dining experience ever. Although there were poor reviews ahead of my visit, I took a chance on it anyway. I mean how bad could sushi be? First, the sushi was old, dry and was sliced parchment paper thin on top of the sushi rice. I didn't even get chopsticks. Imaging wanting more ( bad) food on your plate? But the worst part was that since I was assured of a safe gluten free meal, I was provided with gluten containing soy sauce. The explanation was, that they use "Lite" Soy Sauce ( which is not gluten free) bottles for gluten free soy sauce. This may seem unimportant but if you have Celiac Disease, gluten is very harmful. We requested a comped meal which was declined by the mean and nasty owner. In fact he asked where we were from so he could call the police. Kyoto is a poor excuse for for a restaurant. Check out their DOH Critical Violations which are available right here. My advice: Do Not Go.

Yelp
I usually don't leave reviews but I couldn't let this go. I ordered shrimp fried rice and steak fried rice. Total was ~$21. Opened the container and there was a pitiful amount of food. Then I went to eat it, neither the steak nor shrimp were seasoned. They skimped out on the amount of steak and shrimp in the rice. ALL of my steak was cut up fat. The shrimp wasn't de-veined. The vegetables are frozen, the rice is hardly seasoned as well. Service was ok, the atmosphere is nice.

Yelp
Great food! Being gluten free they really accommodate! They cooked my food first and had gluten free sauce! Everything was delicious! Highly recommend!

Kaitlyn D.

Yelp
Well priced food. Very yummy sushi. Good options. I had the lo mein and happy sushi and a miso soup!
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Good food. Good service. The filet mignon seemed like a bit of a stretch to call it that. Look more like a NY strip to be at a filet price. But at the end of the day, the food was good.

Marci K.

Yelp
While the food is excellent, they pulled a bait and switch. The menu stated yakisoba noodle combination shrimp, chicken and beef $16.99. they tried to convince me that it was shrimp and chicken or shrimp and beef and they charged me an extra $4 for the three items. I would never patronize this place again without scrutinizing the menu and verifying the pricing before placing your order

Claudia F.

Yelp
0 service was good on the sushi side but his restaurant caters to its Hibachi customers . We were unable to get a Kani salad and we're told fish was not served raw.I was in a sushi restaurant .Server was kind bur clueless mot real knowledgeable Heading home ba k to NY for sushi

David E.

Yelp
The hibachi was amazing. the chef was interactive and the food was fantastic. Filet was so tender. 5 out of 5.

Katie H.

Yelp
This was a typical Japanese steakhouse. They did the fire and cooking display. Nothing too extensive, but had the bare minimum. The chef was definitely phoning it in, there was no tossing shrimp into anyone's mouths or the egg in the hat, but it was better than the reviews I read.
google avatar

Yelp
As I sit here trying to choke down my food.... I am thinking about how my family and I ALWAYS try a Japanese Steakhouse in every city we visit if there is one! AND we travel a lot!!!! Well let me tell you this place has the worst by far!!!! The waitress was good not great, but the cook let's talk about him, first off he barely said a word, as far as a show for the kids yeah that didn't happen, he read the order incorrectly for the whole party and cooked the rice with no veggies for everyone when it was supposed to be for 1 person, my steak was way way overcooked, the additional veggies were burnt and he literally cooked it all in less than 20 minutes..... of course when I said something to him he says if there is a problem talk to the manager and then about 10 minutes later brings me out a bowl of veggies for my already eaten fried rice!!!!!! Well when I tried to talk to the manager he/she was busy in the kitchen...... SO to say, we will NOT be returning there!

Yelp
So I'm happy this place is open and we are so hungry after shopping the outlet mall! My reservation wasn't until 6 but when we got there half an hour early, we were seated immediately. Appetizers were decent. The crab puffs were ok, but my favorite are the gyoza. They were cooked perfectly and devoured in seconds! Dinner was entertaining, reasonably priced and delicious! Our chef was a barrel of laughs as he flipped and turned his instruments. We had a ball trying to catch the food he was throwing from his spatula! What a hoot! We were so full we didn't have room for dessert. But we'll definitely try to come back for it!

Brenda B.

Yelp
We celebrate family birthdays at hibachi restaurants because of the food and entertainment. The banter and showmanship always bring smiles and applause. The egg toss into chef's hat always has everyone holding their breath. The water squirt into a willing participant's mouth and vegetable toss were all anticipated. We got NOTHING, NADA! Our cook had not practiced the spatula/fork juggling sufficient to wow the group. I appreciate the efforts put forth by immigrants; I think it is a disservice to them and to the patrons to expect them to deliver what should be. Train them! Improve their command of English so that the banter is delivered! We were able to observe another group who had a skilled chef who was slightly more trained. His command of English covered his lack of skill and had his group laughing. The food did not meet our expectations either. We had filet, chicken, scallops, shrimp and paid the $2.50 upgrade to fried rice and noodles. The food was bland. We did enjoy the soup and salad. The sushi was okay. The birthday delivery of a scoop of ice cream with a candle and a gong was cute and appreciated. The beautifully decorated interior, the comfortable seating, and the pleasant order takers show potential. If the main entertainers are better trained and sauce flavors improved, the restaurant would be considered one of the great ones! We will not return to this restaurant and risk another bland event.

Yelp
This place is pretty standard in what you would expect from a Japanese steakhouse. It was fun to sit with some people and watch the chef do some cooking tricks like the egg rolling, and volcano onions. My son and I shared a shashimi appetizer, eel roll and and a steak and scallops hibachi. The shashimi had white tuna, red tuna and crab sticks. The fish was good, but I feel that crab sticks were such a cheap choice instead of more fish. The eel roll was good. The steak was a bit chewy even cooked at med rare, and the scallops were way over done. It was nice to see the fish pond in the front and the staff are nice though. Let's say I'm not in a hurry to go back there.

Yelp
The food is was pretty good, the waitress and our cook were very good, the restaurant could use a little makeover. However when we presented our $5 coupons from YELP the MANAGER DIDN'T honor it!!! Therefore, I'm giving 3 Stars....

Steph A.

Yelp
It was our first time visiting this area, and we wandered upon Kyoto. The hibachi was excellent. I ordered a Raman soup, and it was delicious. The food was seasoned well, and the service was great. Would return to dine here again in the future.

Darrius F.

Yelp
This was by far the worst Japanese Hibaci experience that I've ever had! I highly suggest if you are looking for Japanese food, you may want to find another restaurant to give your money too. Our food wasn't prepared properly and our portions were rationed to half. The service was sub-par and the atmosphere was not conducive for a happy eating evironment.
google avatar

Marga H.

Yelp
Food: Our eggs for the fried rice were burned and I'm fairly certain they use frozen veggies as the mix in the fried rice. The scallops were over cooked. The hibachi veggies were nasty (some under cooked some over cooked). I ordered Edamame as an appetizer, it came out when we were DONE eating all the other food (cold and chewy). I asked the waitress about it and she got sassy with me like it was my fault it came out so late- I still had to pay for it. Drinks: good Service: crap.

Cooper J.

Yelp
the food had no taste. the rice was so greasy it left a film in my mouth. they never came to refill drinks. don't come here if you want a good meal.

Susan D.

Yelp
NO SHOW! Old, dingy restaurant with bad management. The food was good but when you go to a Japanese Hibachi Restaurant, you expect to have a SHOW! The chef came out, went straight to cooking our food, and in 8 minutes he was done and walked away. We asked him for sesame seeds and he said he had none, we asked for wasabi and he said he had none. We even asked him to please give us a little show because there were children with the other couple at our table. He said "NO SHOW". After he left we called over the manager. He said "what do you want me to do, take him out back and beat him"? And he walked away. TERRIBLE!
google avatar

Sandy G.

Yelp
The building is really pretty and I loved all the koi fish in the stream outside. When you walk in, it was completely quiet, not even any soft music playing, which I was kindve expecting. The cook was good. Smaller portions than what I usually expect from a Japanese hibachi place. I had no leftovers and wishing my portion size had been bigger. Otherwise, the food was yummy! Ordered pina coladas and they were good too!
google avatar

Cherie O.

Yelp
Hibachi is entertaining for children and toddlers and the food is good enough for the adults. We only come here because of the little ones so we can see them be happy. Time flies and before you know it, they are all grown up. Three scallop hibachis and one filet mignon. The little ones shared a chicken and shrimp adult hibachi. The two year old cried when there was fire but he was reassured by his Daddy that it wouldn't hurt him, so precious. We also had two salmon roes for the little ones, an octopus sushi, and a squid sushi. Again all good but not great. So when you need to entertain little ones, this is the place to bring them to.
google avatar

Luis R.

Yelp
The food here is good but there is nothing that wows you. Good flavors and a good drink menu. Overall a good place to visit when you are in town. Good experience for the little ones with the fire show and antics by the cooks.
google avatar

Angel C.

Yelp
**First off, they will NOT honor the Yelp check in promotional coupon. *** While on vacation, we decided on a restaurant with a little fun for the kids. What's better than food and a little show, so we picked Hibachi. Food show: hardly entertainment. The chef performed: oil fire, volcano onion, egg flipped and zucchini toss to the patros' mouth. It was short and to the point. He cooked our food and left. My kids were not impressed with the food or the entertainment. Food: Meh, could be better. The "yum yum" sauce is literally watered down mayo with very little addition spices. When the food doesn't make up for the lack of entertainment, it's really not worth going. I would recommend going to another hibachi restaurant. Food was overpriced, there is a $2.50 up-charge for fried rice or noodles.

Heather B.

Yelp
We had a great meal! Kids loved the food and the show. One of our best meals of the entire trip! Portion size may have been a little bit smaller than other Japanese steak houses but still plenty of food! We all left full and happy!

Ashlie M.

Yelp
Very disappointed in this restaurant. Portion size is tiny compared to other Japanese restaurants. Every item on my plate tasted sweet and shouldn't have! Had to pay extra for fried rice and then only received 1/2 cup. Cook was too busy trying to cook quickly, placing all meats, vegetables, rice and noodles on the cooktop at once. Multiple items were overcooked and/or burnt. Would not recommended. Service also mediocre.

Shazmeen K.

Yelp
Best sushi I've ever had. Tried 7-8 different rolls and everyone hit the spot perfectly - coming from a sushi enthusiast. Ambiance is very nice, as-well as the service and wait time.
google avatar

Buzz B.

Yelp
Excellent sushi. Well prepared. Service was attentive and fast. Watching the sushi chef was fascinating.

Madi G.

Yelp
Great service, food, and fun!! Food came out fast and they gave big portions. Went for my mom's birthday and they sang to her!
google avatar

NICK W.

Yelp
Not coming back, food was so so and service was under par. The ambiance was no music and plain decor nothing to please the customer.

Duanita B.

Yelp
Terrible! A good friends graduation dinner was this evening with reservations at 7pm, the entire party arrived at 6:45pm. We had to demand a table, spoke to the manager and he simply said "sorry" I've been busy and can't compensate anything not even tea/soda. The food, service, and everything TERRIBLE!

Annika N.

Yelp
dining was very nice and relaxing. sat on the sushi bar side and had a lovely presentation of several delicious rolls. our server was very kind and diligent. will be back
google avatar

Kate B.

Yelp
The sushi is good. The water was good. The meat was nice and NOT over salted like other hibatchis. The wait is horrible. They are very busy and you will wait for awhile. The rice is gross. I would not order the fried rice upgrade again.
google avatar

David O.

Yelp
Many of the previous Yelp reviews have noted the plusses and minuses of Kyoto, so I won't belabor them. Quality: for an upscale teppanyaki experience, I would rate this meh...I've had worse, but I've certainly had better. Foods were over-seared and the minimal seasoning became bitter. The same thing can be said of the performance...some of the standard performances missing, and minimal interaction between chef and patrons. Biggest draw is it's the only one in the region. The place was clean, decor was appropriate, and the waitress was pleasant. All in all, experience was decent - grandkids were happy and that was the whole reason for the visit. The few sushi bar items we had were pretty basic - salmon roe, baby octopus and shu mai. Again, middle of the road; not bad but not great. Might be back with visiting relatives, but wouldn't plan on it.

D W.

Yelp
This is a dingy, tired restaurant with unpleasant wait staff and mediocre food. I would not recommend wasting your money here as it's pretty expensive for a disappointing meal.
google avatar

Hannah W.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Make sure you don't let any of your party stop to look at the fish on the way in. They will seat everyone that walks in after you first and act like you don't exist. Very disappointing.

Mackenzie G.

Yelp
Wonderful experience with my kids! They loved the food. Service was fast and friendly.
google avatar

Cheryl C.

Yelp
The food overall was great. I just happened to get a bad piece of beef. Our waitress was a very frustrated person. Messed up our checks. She was in a such a hurry to get things done she made rude comments to the adults as well as our children. We had a party of 17. One of the waitresses gave checks to the kids. When we ask for them she refused to give them to adults so we could pay. The kids gave the checked to us and it confused the waitress. Very incompetent. Will not go back even for a second chance. We spent way to much money to be treated like we were idiots
google avatar

Rob T.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE, we had a large party, our waitress was new, second day. Chef was new too, The only thing not new, was the Food. Out of 9 people, 4 got sick within the hour.. !! Some people said it was the Olestra Either way, we got upset stomachs & diarrhea
