Revisited this place a month after I had a fantastic and authentic pizza night. They have changed the chef and the entire menu. I should have left when they took away the old menu in my hand. And fyi, they didn't inform the customer about the changes. They even changed the name of the restaurant from what I have been told. Ordered an appetizer and two pizzas tonight. (20/12) You can totally tell the differences from the image I uploaded. The dough is not using sour dough. No more fluffy and chewy crust. It tasted dry and hard, just like what you can get from a frozen pizza. Yeah, that kind of bad ! But mate, we are paying 168$ for a pizza and this is not the quality we should have. And sauce? It just tastes like sth you could get from Wellcome. My friend came with me because she saw the picture I took from last time. But she was shocked too by the quality of food we had. I am not so sure as if the low quality of pizza is just temporary. I have spotted a few one star reviews today already and there will be more to come, Kytaly. I really wish you could at least tell your customers the change of the menu and lower our expectations before we start the meal. ________________________________________ Old review: Probably the best place to have proper pizza in HK. Their sour dough crust was on point. We all finished our plates ! That's what a good pizza should be: nothing is too heavy to be finished. I love their red base a lot, I could tasted the sweetness from fresh tomatoes. However, I think the pizza could be cooked a bit longer. The leopard spotting wasnt good enuf. Besides, service was amazing and the view was phenomenal. Though the bill wasn't cheap, it was totally worths it.

Expensive but best pizza in hk, good service. Would give 5 stars if not for the price. Edit: they recently changed management and the pizza is absolute garbage. Literally tastes like wet cardboard. The poor staff know it and were doing their best under the circumstances, but avoid like the plague until they sort it out

Kytaly is a well-known pizzeria first founded in Genève, Switzerland. Chef Franco Pepe’s pizzas are voted “Best Pizza In The World”, from “50 Top Pizza”. Heard that they have opened the 2rd restaurant in Hong Kong, surely have to try. This pizzeria is located in central districts, 5/F. Decorated in simple European style, a large terrace with a wide view , we certainly go for outdoor. Unlike other pizzeria, Kytaly aims to focus on pizza and wanna turn pizza into fine dining, so their menu provides pizza only. Staffs are all friendly with smiles, suggested us to order SCARPELLA, one of their signatures. SCARPELLA is a vegetarian pizza, with Cream of Grana Padano 12 months aged cheese, Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP, 3 tomatoes compote, shavings of Grana Padano 24 months aged cheese, freeze dried pesto, extra virgin olive oil. The texture is exactly a fresh bread, not a hard, dry stuff that u will let it aside, perfectly, precisely combined with sour and sweet, all ingredients are home made, all their selection wines can be paired with pizza. With a refreshing Blonde Beer, this lunch delighted my day, everything here is tip-top!

Best pizza in HK!! OMG I can’t wait to be back! The dough is so light and fluffy, they said it’s 60/70% water (I forgot exact numbers). They have a few signature choices and we went for a traditional pizza and a folded one with lots of salad insider, very healthy, refreshing and you will feel less guilty for eating so much. As for the decor, love the cozy terrace and glass open kitchen where you can see the action happening. But unfortunately, the food was so good that I couldn’t leave my seat to go check it out before it closes. Only sad part is they don’t take bookings so better go early to avoid long wait.

I like they put lotsss cheese on pizza! We ordered 2 pizza and drinks, around $280/per head. I thought I found the wrong place at first because they have changed the name to Baxxxxx. The staff asked me “miss, are you looking for Kytaly??” They should update the Google information :p

This place comes with quite a lot of hype. Personally, the ambience was great. The product is a bit expensive — but we knew what we were getting into. I have no problem paying for top cuisine and a great experience. I do have a problem paying for empty hype. Talk about deflated expectations. We (my wife and I) tried the Calzone fritto and a Margherita sbagliatta — both were meh. The dough was fantastic, however both dishes were coldish and the menu does not warn you. On top of that, unfortunately it was a very cold night and the al-fresco / semi al-fresco interior design of the place is a bit of a wind tunnel — not good for the winter months. I would rather go to “Amalfitana” in Repulse Bay Beach for hot and tasty pizza at half the price. I might consider returning to this place and ordering from their more traditional menu — compare apples to apples — but I have no high hopes anymore. Franco Pepe would not come back to this place. To sign off, what bothered me the most is the obliviousness to little details. The restaurant charges HK$68 for a can of Coke — no glass bottle. Seriously? The team behind Best Pizza in the World (according to several top magazines for their restaurant in Campania) cannot manage getting their soft drinks in order. That is a quick call to Coca-Cola and they will fix you up in a week. Order San Pellegrino and you will get the small bottle without any forewarning. Also their fancy “press-me” salt shaker will drop a teaspoon of salt on your very expensive food. Same with their chilli flakes that come in a small lab-type flask. This is basic experience design not high-flying restauranteur-grade concerns.

Good pizza (Maybe not "World's best pizza" as boasted on their menu and website but still excellent) Staff is nice, choice of wine decent and the outside terasse is absolutely fantastic. Only downside the choices from the menu is slightly limited.

Overall: pretty good for pizza in Hong Kong Ordered the tomato with Parma ham pizza. Crust is soft and chewy, tomato sauce tastes just right. Generous portion of cheese, Parma ham and greens on top. The melted cheese def oozes which was yummy. 280 hkd steep price, but its Hong Kong. Best pizza I ever had? No but ok for Hong stanfa

I had high expectations eating at KYTALY given the original Italy location has been deemed the Worlds best pizza. The pizza is good but not unbelievable and the price point is really high for pizza. There are also very few options with meat as a topping. We ordered two pizzas the scarpetta and the Margherita. Of the two I definitely preferred the Margherita. The mozzarella cheese is fantastic. We also ordered the Emila green salad, which is flat out bad. The salad is under dressed and could use some salt. The lettuce comes as unchopped large pieces of romaine lettuce. The ratio of everything is off (cheese, ham, dressing, lettuce). The best part is the piece of bread it came with. Please don't order this salad. +get to say that they said it was the world's best pizza and then you went and it wasn't +nice outdoor ambiance (in winter) +parma ham appetizer +10/10 company -pizza crust very thick, center very thin & soupy -very few choices involving meat -small tables 20% too small, 15% too low -$750hkd for 2 ppl a bit steep for weeknight pizza

I have to say, I just took a trip to Naples a couple months back and I thought the pizza at Kytaly was on par with the the best I had in Naples. It's certainly more expensive, but it is in Hong Kong! Tried all three of the set lunch pizzas. The toppings are definitely high quality and tasty, and the crust is crisp yet chewy and pillowy soft on the inside (perfect for a Neapolitan pizza). The salad was not very good and lacked a decent dressing, but we didn't come for the salad.

This placed opened to a lot of characteristic Hong Kong-hype, as par business-as-usual when we get a European import. I read the articles, looked at the photos, salivated over the menu. I did my research. don't @ me. The deal is that they don't do reservations, as they told my boyfriend over the phone. Ay-okay. We're so used to waiting in lines here that it wasn't a big deal, but we were a bit baffled to see that when we arrived right at 7:00, their opening time, the restaurant was already filled to the brim and we were informed, upon our bemused faces, that "oh, sometimes people come here for drinks before." Okay. The pizza is good. It is even better-than-average. However, as is the case with sky high expectations ("Best Pizza in the world!" being a pretty emphatically great review) they inevitably fall short. There is a LOT of cheese on the signature margarita pizza. I always feel that Neopolitan pies are should have a crisp crust with a chewy crumb - it's cooked FAST and the dough is so thin in the middle that the center should almost be soupy (some people don't like this). But with Kytaly, the entire pizza was so weighed down by cheese - I must say we did get an awesome cheese pull - that the crust and cheese melded as one - my Italian boyfriend declared it rather gummy, and I had to agree. More tomato, less cheese, I say! Then maybe that thin crust would have had its moment to shine. Inevitably, the overall value has to come into question - I'm sure the original Kytaly outpost in Geneve is every bit as spectacular as the articles make it seem. But as we stared over the twinkling lights, well-heeled patrons, and soft techno of Kytaly Hong Kong, something's been lost in translation, and stared down at this $280 HKD pizza (over $30USD!!!), something was decidedly lost in translation.
