I’ve been meaning to checkout Kyuramen for a while now and finally got the chance! I had a wonderful experience here.
We started with the takoyaki, which was honestly some of the best I've ever had. My personal pet peeve with Takoyaki is I feel like a lot of restaurants don't cook theirs long enough. But the ones at Kyuramen were the crispiest I've had. The inside is still custard-like, but it doesn't taste straight up raw like some others that I've had before.
Next, the teriyaki beef burger was also really delicious. The beef was super tender and had incredible grilled flavor. It's a little messy to eat, but they provide gloves, which we appreciated.
Now, onto the ramen. In my opinion, DFW isn't known for spectacular ramen; the best ramen I've had was when I was traveling. However, as a local restaurant, Kyuramen hits the spot. The broth was pretty good, the ramen egg was flavorful and perfectly jammy, and the chashu was super tender with a nice char. In addition, the noodles had a great texture, and the toppings were plentiful and delicious. I got the Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen, and my sister ordered the Mega Ramen. I actually liked hers more and would probably get that next time.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere here is really unique. There is plenty of seating, ranging from tables, a bar area, and the honey comb booths, which are the main attraction here. We sat in one of the honeycomb booths, which gave us a nice, private dining experience. There's a call button to get your waiter's attention, but other than that, you're left alone, which I personally like sometimes. However, that being said, the staff here were still very friendly and helpful.
As for pricing--I've been to several Japanese restaurants in DFW, and I'd say the prices here are comparable. It's by no means a super cheap place to eat at, but I personally don't think it was more expensive than other Japanese restaurants I've been to. Especially for the pricing of ramen, the range is very much on par with its counterparts.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place, and I'd love to bring my family here again.
