Where to Slurp Ramen Around Boston

"This ramen chain started in New York; it now has locations all over the country, including the newly opened spot in Brookline and one planned opening in Winchester. It serves various styles of ramen, including Tokyo tonkotsu ramen and Korean kimchi ramen. If you’re feeling something sweet after a bowl of savory ramen, this noodle joint is conveniently located next to Kyomatcha, a hip Japanese cafe and bakery serving matcha-centric desserts and drinks." - Nathan Tavares, Eater Staff

Kraken offers a stylish and inviting atmosphere, making it an excellent choice for couples. I ordered the yakitori platter, which featured well-seasoned meats, with the beef standing out for its exceptional tenderness and depth of flavor complemented by the house sauce. The tonkatsu ramen was equally impressive — the broth carried a rich pork bone essence without being overly oily or heavy, while the noodles had a satisfying chew. The pork in the ramen harmonized beautifully with the soup, creating a balanced and memorable dish. I look forward to returning to explore more of the menu.

This place has a very beautiful Japanese decor. You will feel like you’re transported somewhere else. The staff are very respectful, kind, patient, and helpful. The food was AMAZING! The presentation of the food looked very pleasing and it tasted very exquisite. The smoothie and lemonade were freshly made and delicious. They have a robot that brings you beverages which was fun. It’s a nice place to visit with family, friends, or have a pleasant date. I highly recommend this place and will definitely visit again.

This was one of the best dining experiences that we've had in a while. The atmosphere was amazing. The seats that we wanted weren't available, but where they seated us was even better. It was secluded and an intimate seating arrangement. The food was great. The prices for the quality is a major plus. Our waitress was nice and gave us great recommendations. We will be visiting here again.

Pretty good place. All of the food was great! The ramen was excellent along with the gyoza, pork bao, and deserts. Our server John was awesome as well. The atmosphere and decor was pretty cool.

Love this spot! This was my first time going here so me and a friend decided to try it for lunch. We both got a lunch special that consisted of ramen, an app (bun or dumplings) and a drink. The food came out quick and fresh! The restaurant was a little quiet when we arrived but no complaints there. The restaurant is located inside a shopping plaza off Howell Mill Rd so it’s busy but you’ll find plenty of parking. Great experience.

Google
The ramen was really delicious, we had the #6 (mild) and the #5. They weren’t too spicy, it was perfect! The lemonades were also very good, and the service was nice. It wasn’t busy for a Thursday evening.

We went to celebrate my mom's Birthday. Something different for her and my niece recommended the resturant. The restaurant was clean and the waiters were very friendly and patient! We had too many questions (lol)! The food was delicious. The bao (pork) bun and fried chicken bites appetizers were well seasoned. I would go back and try a dish other than ramen. The saki I had wasn't strong, but it was good. I had the Lychee flavor and my niece had strawberry. The robot sang Happy Bday to my mom and they gave her a small matcha cake. It was like tiramisu with matcha on top. I recommend Kyuramen.

Yelp
The omurice is delicious and so flavorful. The fried chicken and pork tonkatsu is so crispy as well, something a lot of restaurants don't have. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, with honeycomb themed stalls in the wall and a tree with wooden wishes on it. Our waitresses were so sweet and went above and beyond, even helping us position our dishes to take better photos (I'm not the best at positioning haha).

Yelp
This was an impromptu dinner. Located in the busy Howell mill Plaza near La Parilla and Salt. If was pretty empty when we dined. It hadn't been open long. Felt like being transported to Korea with semi private dining pods. There are cute little robots helping deliver yours food. Everything was good and fresh. The very best lemonade was actually really refreshing. The food was good. The skewers were an unexpected surprise. For a empty as the establishment was... service was slow. Someone was always stopping by to refresh water but the meals came poorly timed. The ramen came before the appetizer and the ramen was nearly done before the skewers arrived but when they did... AMAZING!! Id go back. Order yes, boboa, and skewers.

Yelp
2nd time and still very yummy yum! I haven't been wowed enough for 5 stars but I would gladly recommend to anyone wanting a warm bowl of ramen that's consistently tasty. I'll do my best to try something new on the menu but I'm one of those who finds what they like and gets the same thing every time haha. I had the same server from my first visit and she was still attentive and friendly.

Yelp
Gorgeous, well-designed restaurant. I love the private booths that allow for drawing the curtain for a more intimate meal alone or with others. Very thoughtful touch. The lady working at the front counter is kind, nice and courteous. Unfortunately my to-go order was missing the main part - the meat. I was disappointed to find this out after driving 25 minutes away from the restaurant. It was after 10pm so they didn't pick up the phone. After a drive all the way back there and much discussion, they did offer a free meal on the next visit, which I guess is the next best alternative to a refund.

Yelp
This place was sooo cool. I think visually I think the place is stunning. I enjoyed the egg omelet w gravy and fried rice. And the best drink was the cucumber lemonade. I think aesthetically this is a gorgeous restaurant and the service was nice. Young students mostly. I will definitely be back and I really like all of the different flavored pepper species on the table, for example "Sauerkraut Pepper. It sounded weird but definitely tasty

Yelp
I've been meaning to come here for over a month. Finally. The decor is super cute. Love the seating. It's like you're sitting in a honeycomb. The person who took my order was super nice and professional. I got the tonkatsu ramen to go. The broth was very silky. Just the way I like it. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of nori (upsets my stomach). So I asked it be removed. The pork was very tender and flavorful. Love that there's corn in it. So many places don't add it. It was some really good ramen. Will I be back? For sure.

Yelp
The plaza has plenty of parking spots. We went on a weekend but it was not so crowded so we can choose to sit as we like. We choose the upper seat on the honeycomb structure. The restaurant decor is cool. I like their cat serving robot but since we sit upstairs, we won't get to interact with the robot because it can't go up on stairs. The menu has a good variety of dishes, not just ramen but also on rice dishes and side dishes. We had: - Tokyo Tonkotsu Shouyu: the ramen is good, but the bamboo shoot has a strange taste and smell off. That taste eventually affect the whole bowl of ramen. - Deep Fried Gyoza Dumplings: these are tasty, but we would prefer them with no sauce on top. - Tonkatsu (Deep fried breaded pork chop): this one is yummy - Grilled Baby Scallop served on Skewer: the teriyaki sauce is pretty overwhelmed so you can't really taste scallop, mostly the sauce. - Purple Sweet Potato Fries: this one is on point - Teriyaki Beef Rice Burger: the rice burger is an interesting idea, but the rice bun doesn't hold on until the end. The bun is kind off crumble after the second bite. - Amazing Lemonade: which is cucumber juice mixed with lemonade and soda. It's a good mix. - Japanese Cherry Blossom Jelly: it's an interesting dessert. It's jelly with Salt pickled sakura cherry blossoms inside. The service is very attentive and friendly. We will be back to try more from the menu.

Yelp
Service was outstanding!! Ambiance wonderful!! But the food, huge let down!! Ramen was just ok. Gyoza awful!! Shrimp rolls bad! And the little meats on the sticks( can't remember the name) horrible! Wonderful place for selfies and such but yikes they need somebody new in the kitchen!

Yelp
The hubby and I tried this place while in Chicago and were obsessed with their amazing lemonade. Although this locations lemonade wasn't as amazing the server named Elaine and the incredible ramen made up for it. We love Kyuramen because they do a great job designing the interior making it feel like a true ramen spot. I like that they offer combos with their ramen which gives you an opportunity to try dessert, Thai tea, lemonade or a Bao bun. We had the braised pork belly and spicy chasu pork ramen which were both incredible. My husband devoured his. The pork belly bowl came with plenty of meat which I thought was a plus. We also got to try their Japanese cherry blossom jelly which was different but not bad. I look forward to returning to Kyuramen and thanks Elaine for making our experience incredible!!

Yelp
Oh my goodness soooooo good. It's been a while since I've had ramen this good, and I honestly can't wait to go back. This place has such cool seating and the staff were so friendly! Went for dinner on a Saturday night and I was surprised by how quick the service was. I got the miso ramen mild and my friend got the kimchi ramen and a pork bao bun. Very flavorful, just the perfect amount of spice. I will definitely be returning!

Yelp
10/10!! I will definitely be returning! The ambiance and esthetics were everything!! I enjoyed the ramen!!! 10/10 highly recommend! The broth had soooo much flavor!! The hostess was great! She started us off with a few drinks! The server we had was very dry but I guess that's pretty normal. Overall, beautiful place, wonderful food!!

Yelp
Comforting, affordable classic. The broth has a warm, savory chicken flavor with just the right balance of salt and umami. It's not too overpowering, but it's definitely flavorful enough to feel satisfying.

Yelp
I was so excited when I came across this place. I immediately stopped in. It's super beautiful inside and the layout is dope. (See pictures) They sat us inside of a booth with a curtain. Soooo cool. I got the ying Yang, but I didn't care for tonkutsu side of the bowl and I really like tonkutsu but the miso side was really good. Noodles were the perfect texture. My lunch partner enjoyed his tonkutsu. You have the opportunity to win free stuff if your bowl has an item written inside. You'll have to drink all of your broth to see it. We won a free drink.

Yelp
Very excited to have another Ramen spot in West Midtown. Came in on a Friday at 6:30. Service was great and servers were very attentive. We had the takoyaki (good), Tonkatsu Curry Ramen (good but the tonkatsu was a little dry), and Kyushu Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen (not pictured, good). While they don't have a kids menu, they do let you order a side noodle and soup so you're not having to pay for a full ramen bowl. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
This place is great, it has everything, ambience, great food and service and robots to bring your drinks. Elaine along with the other staff members make sure we have a great experience every time we come. Now, the food. The potato shrimp is one of my favorites while my youngest niece absolutely loves the gyoza and spring rolls. I always get an order of pork belly skewers which are freshly prepared and quite tasty and brown sugar milk tea. They're located in the Howell Mill shopping center near La Parrilla and TJ maxx. There is ample parking. The restaurant is very clean and inviting,

Yelp
Food was decent! Love the atmosphere and servers were very nice! However, the service was not up to par. The restaurant was not super busy and we had to wait for about 10 minutes to put our order in. We used the call and order button many times but was completely ignored. Then we were missing one item and we had to ask them for it after about 15 minutes of eating. Overall summary, food and atmosphere were good! Service needs some work.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! It could be the new hang out spot for Japanese food and boba in the area!! It was my first time having ramen here. The food was flavorful and the homemade dessert was delicious! The restaurant has pretty neat decors and a lot of seatings available. The manager, Elaine, and the workers were all very kind and approachable. They kept checking on us, and they were genuinely interested in hearing our thoughts on the food and on any improvements.

Yelp
After so many recommendations, I had to come to Kyuramen and I am happy that I did! Not only were we greeted by the nicest staff, but the decor in this restaurant was top-tier. It had a super cool atmosphere, the music was great, Bella the Cat bot was great, and I felt so welcomed here. Everything we ordered was sooooooo good (not exaggerating at all). We started with the Takoyaki and the Deep Fried Gyoza and both were so delicious. I really loved the sauces on top of the Gyoza. For our ramen, we tried the Kyushu Spicy Ramen and the Chicken Ramen. The spicy one stole the show for us but the chicken ramen was still a good pick. I also want to take the time to mention that Amazing Lemonade! It was so tasty, but also so refreshing with the cucumbers. I'm going to have to get that on every visit. Overall it was great and I can't wait to come back and try even more.

Yelp
Food and service were quick and great! Server was super kind. Food was exactly what I was looking for and everything on the menu was simple and delicious. Def a place to try with a big group and the setting was very fun.

Yelp
Last minute snap decision that I cannot believe turned out SO well. The food, service, and ambiance were all top quality. I have rarely been so impressed. Cannot wait to come back and try more plates.

Yelp
Great and attentive service! Cute and Instagram-shot worthy decor. Menu has great variety of dishes so it's great for everyone. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Cydney J.

Yelp
The ambience was pleasant and the staff was super helpful and sweet with recommending food items. I believe since this place is barely new, crowd. Traffic was low. The food was delicious and I would recommend going here.

Yelp
Today was there first day and I know things will get better. I would not recommend the chicken Ramen, had an underline taste of fish throughout and smell from the kelp and seaweed. The Octopus balls were good and the dumplings. The lemonade was amaze balls and the thia tea good as well. A few hiccups in service but the ambiance is super cute. Go check them out!

Yelp
We sat in a private room and the whole experience was great! Food came really fast and it was all so delicious including the drinks!

Yelp
Kyuramen is now my go-to place for ramen on the west side!! Food is great (try spicy bamboo shoots). I had the Tokyo bowl and they put more ingredients in than most places. Cant wait to try the other options.
