"A restaurant in Alsace serving seasonal plant-based dishes." - Annick Weber

"This old bar has been transformed into a “living space” by a chef born in the village who has accumulated an impressive number of food awards. The son and grandson of a butcher, Jérôme Jaegle is just as much a market gardener and permaculture enthusiast as he is a chef with an impressive CV, having worked with famous names such as Jean-Yves Schillinger and Christian Têtedoie. Almost Scandinavian in appearance, his restaurant is decorated in light wood and natural materials and is named after Alchemilla, the favourite plant of alchemists. His creative and individual cuisine focuses, unsurprisingly, on herbs and vegetables grown in his kitchen garden, as well as other locally sourced ingredients. The set menus have different themes, with a focus on vegetables and the sea." - Michelin Inspector

I visited L’Alchémille drawn by their beautiful concept of sustainable, garden-to-table cuisine. The ambience was thoughtfully crafted — minimalist, elegant, and deeply connected to nature through soft design touches and natural soundscapes. I appreciated the small gesture of inviting guests to pick and taste plants upon arrival, though without much explanation, it felt more like a decorative idea than a real sensory experience. The food was carefully prepared but overall not as inspiring as I had hoped. Many dishes leaned heavily into green tones and similar presentations, which, while consistent with their garden theme, left me wishing for more diversity and vibrancy on the plate. Highlights included a rich, buttery smashed potato that was technically flawless, and a tender snail dish that showed skill, even if the pairing with fish felt slightly disconnected. The herbal drink offered at the end was a nice touch, but for me personally, it echoed familiar southern Chinese herbal teas rather than feeling new or surprising. Two service mistakes stood out: a piece of fish bone found in one dish and cork remnants in a glass of red wine. Although staff corrected them quickly, the handling could have been more attentive given the level the restaurant aims for. The wine pairings, however, were excellent — well-chosen from the region and enhancing the overall meal. The restaurant is also dog-friendly, which added a warm and welcoming touch to the evening. All in all, it was a pleasant night shared with friends in a beautiful setting. However, the culinary experience, while solid, felt somewhat overrated for the price and reputation. Still, I appreciate the restaurant’s commitment to sustainability and their vision, and with a few refinements, the experience could become something truly special.

We had an exceptional 5 course lunch experience during Alsace Easter Weekend. From the moment we stepped through the entrance of this fine dining restaurant, we knew we were in for something special. This was not your typical fine dining experience, the plating was a work of art and the flavors were a delightful exploration of herbs and plants. Like you were enjoying something interesting and unusual that came straight out of "nature". The service was also impressive! If you're looking for a unique and memorable experience, this is the place. Don't miss out out on this gem!

An unforgettable dining experience! We had the most lovely dinner at L’Alchémille. Everything from the decor to the birdsong music to the presentation of the dishes was incredible. Our waitress was very friendly and endearing. Thank you for making our trip to Alsace so special.

Superb restaurant. Chef is very creative with herbs from his own garden, flowers and plants from the surrounding forests. The service is outstanding, very welcoming and knowledgeable. At €45 for a 3-course lunch menu unbeatable. Worth a detour!

What a fantastic experience. Expect the unexpected. Went for the full menu with matching drinks (alcohol and soft) and it was absolutely perfect. The flow was extremely well done and the staff super kind and attentive. Also they were always looking for feedbacks on the food and drinks, which is quite rare. The chef is very approachable and come to your table for the introduction and serve some meals, he’s quite a character without being arrogant. Everything is local, fresh and on point. Overall I think it was the best restaurant experience I have ever had.

Something different! The green Michelin star is obvious. Exciting dishes but sometimes a bit over the top. Specially with acidity. Service was good but the maitre/sommelier (?) was coughing the whole evening, also while doing the service. After Covid they should know better abd send him home. But chef was also coughing a lot. When you pay top Euro these matters should be dealt with. But foodwise a nice experience!

Wonderful place and very good cooking with fresh vege from the wild and from own garden. Super fresh innovative and creative cooking. Wine pairing is really great too. To be recommended. Deserve his Michelin star. Perfect service. And words from the chef at the end of the menu. Perfect.
