What’s Happening With the Extra Food That Would Usually Be Sold to Montreal Restaurants? | Eater Montreal

"Facing a surplus of 20,000 oysters when most of his fine-dining clients suddenly closed because of the novel coronavirus, I describe how Vasken Redwanly of seafood supplier L’Écailler scrambled to move stock: he normally sells through more than 25 restaurant customers (including Tuck Shop, Joe Beef, Cadet, Majestique, and Le Club Chasse et Pêche), but to sell quickly he reached out to friends, family and a large public Facebook group for restaurant and bar staff offering oysters at $50 a case (50 cents an oyster); thanks to workers spreading the word, help from chefs and owners, and even assistance from competing distributors, he was able to place boxes, and he personally delivers and disinfects each box to minimize exposure." - Eater

For my first visit, and definitely not my last. I was thoroughly satisfied! The welcome was warm, the service flawless, and the dishes absolutely delicious. L’Ecailler is a great discovery that I highly recommend. The restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere, excellent cuisine, and a good variety of dishes, especially for seafood lovers. The fish, shellfish, and seafood were fresh and well-prepared. The service was impeccable, with friendly and attentive staff. Prices are fair considering the quality of the ingredients. Overall, a fantastic dining experience everything was very good and truly enjoyable!

Would love to be back - one of the best seafood places if you look for them!!! Oysters 🦪 were delicious (Gillardeau), and the hummer soup was good! It was beautiful there, great choice to go for a dinner!

Multi lingual staff is always helpful and they spoke limited English, fluent French and possibly good German from what I heard. The food was good. Oysters were great, clean and tasty, good minuet. The salmon / gyoza with shrimp was extremely salty and the reason for 4 stars vs 5. Chocolate mousse 10/10. Irish coffee 10/10.

Firstly the service was excellent, the linen , towels, glass ware were spotless clean. Starting with the amuse-bouche, I am not that impressed since I expected to be introduced with a very tasty result. The sardine was well marinated but the cold soup was a bit fishy. For the menu of the day, which I chose . First course , visually was appropriate for gourmet category but taste wise was insufficient. The tartar of salmon wasn't what I expected. The salmon was very intense by a fishy smell and the acidity of the mayonese and lemon jell wasn't enough to balance he oiliness of the fish. The main course with the wolf fish was nearly excellent, taste wise and was perfectly cooked. The shavings of asparagus wasn't that tender and a bit stringy. Overall a great main course. Lastly the dessert was perfectly fresh. The soup of red fruits with vanilla ice cream and crumble was ideal to close a meal that counts have been perfect. Would visit again
