L'Agrume

"In the open kitchen of this bistro, the chef delicately crafts refreshingly wholesome dishes, such as poultry in vin jaune paired with asparagus or a piece of roast turbot with mashed potatoes and poultry jus. Flawlessly fresh produce is the name of the game (the fish comes from Brittany and the fruit and vegetables from the very best suppliers). Tasting menu in the evening." - Michelin Inspector

Pretty straightforward, but exceptionally delicious food, that was melting in a mouth. The pear desert was above any expectations. Only the wine offer per glass was rather poor and not tasty. There was no Cremant or champagne per glass either. The general atmosphere also could be improved. But the chef is a real pro and a magician. It was a pleasure to see him working in the kitchen and even bigger pleasure to taste the amazing food he cooked.

As a culinary student I have a passion for food. Eating it, but also putting it all together to make a delicious dish. After my first encounter with French cuisine on my trip I was extremely disappointed and frankly slightly hesitant to try my second round. I made these reservations 10 days before my trip to Paris and I am so glad I did. The work of the Chef at l'Agrume is simply superb. He combines flavor and technique in such an impeccable way to create beautiful dishes. I am in awe of his work. He didn't even break a sweat. Timing the courses just right to create an atmosphere of suspense, waiting for more. I am sure to come back here on my next trip. Absolument fantastique, merci beaucoup!

Our visit to this restaurant was a particular experience... Regarding the food we can be brief, it was fine with a perfect price/quality rate. So the main thing was okay. However, the atmosphere in the restaurant is rather cool and quiet, and when we asked if maybe the music could be put on, the answer was firmly “no”. Upon arrival we were not asked if we might wanted an aperitif, during dinner we were also not asked if we would like something to drink, and even after dinner a “café au lait” was not possible because there was no milk.... For us, the waiter (who is also dishwasher) will not raise the quality of this restaurant. Food: 7.5/10, atmosphere 5/10, service 5/10.

Really stressful experience and I regret we have not left the restaurant once arrived. The venue is tiny, old with tired furniture, there is no music, but a strong toilet aroma. Managed only by 3 people, who are struggling: one chef, one dishwasher and one waiter/host/bartender. Half of the clients are friends of the chef, the other are sitting shocked with the place itself and waiting time. The service is extra slow and we were waiting for the main more than an hour (half an hour after finishing entries). We were in a hurry and wanted to go without the main, but the waiter refused to refund it - it took 10 more minutes to prepare the meal. Though the quality of food is good, it's not enough to compensate for the terrific condition of the place and level of arrogance towards clients which is astonishing.

Google
Amazing food that is very reasonably priced for the quality. The dishes are creative and lovingly prepared. This is the second time I've eaten at this little place, which is a bit off the beaten path, and it is my favorite restaurant in Paris. They have a small set menu for lunch that is exceptionally good value, and a larger tasting menu in the evenings, which is worth the extra price.

we had a reservation but the restaurant wasn’t even open. it’s a disgrace we arrived in paris at 8 o clock in the evening after a long trip and then this… 🙈🙈

They seemed drunk and shouted at my partner because she was walking our dog in front of the restaurant. I understand that they may have made bad experiences with someone, but that doesn't mean they can shout at every dog owner from now on.

Yelp
This restaurant never misses the mark. If you get the chance, sit at the bar and watch chef Franck MARCHESI-GRANDI work his magic. It is as good as the ballet. Food is well prepared and presented. Price is very reasonable.

Yelp
When you go, reserve in advance and ask for a table on the "terrace" which is really a few tables on the sidewalk. Totally worth it. The tasting menu was a good value, and we enjoyed beating the heat and staying away from the open kitchen -- too hot to sit near it in the heat of the summer. The flavors were fresh, combined in interesting ways, and "gastronomique" without being pretentious. Here are a few items that we had on the tasting menu in July: - fish on lentil salad - very soft pork - a scoop of marscapone with fresh summer berries The servers were also very friendly.

Yelp
Lunch The starter earned 4 stars; three plates of ham, anchovies salad and an espresso sized soup. Very suttled finishing and hasn't been seasoned a lot so that you'll enjoy the taste of what you eat. However, main wasn't great. The menu stated bunny with pasta. Some dices of bunny weren't cooked delicately, was chewy and perhaps it was over cooked. Too much pasta, which made it a bit cheap look. Pasta was over cooked but wasn't soggy, thank god. Mango desert wasn't unique enough. So boring. Mango itself wasn't amazing which was served with whipped cream. I'm sorry this is not deliberated enough. An elementary school girl can do the same. Still earned 3 stars as I need to be fair on price I paid; €24 and I didn't have a complain on service - average

Yelp
The absolute highlight of our first Paris culinary experience! Well worth the effort to experience. While I'm no food expert, I do know what I like: nicely prepared food that is both familiar and surprising, great service and NO pretension. We were lucky enough to score reservations during the Christmas-New Years week by stopping by one afternoon and asking if they could fit us in at anytime during the week. The service from the limited staff was great and the food quality astounding, particularly for the price. We sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen (1-man show) and observed the speed, grace and detail of the food preparation from the chef. Given that it was a cold December night in Paris, this was the perfect sitting for my wife and I. Additionally, we requested that the wine was paired to each course. Menu Degustation (37 Euro) on 12/29/2010: Roasted Scallop Creamy in its Shell - Dill utter and Celeri Root - This course changed me from a scallop hater to scallop lover. Amazing. - Plated in a sea shell on top of sea salt. Simple but elegant. Creamy Risotto with Truffle Flavour - Cream and Parmigiano - Perfectly prepared Risotto and simply, but perfectly, plated. Poached John Dorry - Leeks Coked in Butter and Smoked Foam - The fish was cooked to perfection, leeks full of a nice subtle flavor complimented by the foam. Roasted Farm Pork Breast and Carrot Mousseline - I'm a HUGE pork fan and this was prepared perfectly. Caramelized and crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Served on the carrot puree with a rich smoky sauce. Preserved Quince, Vanilla Whipped Cream and Puff Pastry - I had low expectations for this, based on how simple it looked. However, the combinations of flavor and texture were just right. - This nicely ended the meal with no desires or want for anything else.

Yelp
We were recommended to dine at L'agrume while in Paris and were we pleasantly surprised. Prices are very reasonable for a michelin-rated, fine dining establishment. Each course left me wanting more. The food came out so fast and the server was so warm and pleasant. It may have been of the best dining experiences we've ever had

Yelp
What a nice find - okay, I have to give credit to Lonely Planet guidebook. Normally a skeptic, especially when choosing restaurants from a for-profit guide book, I was humbled and amazed. My husband and I ordered the set menu of 5 courses: scallop tartar, john dory (a fish that was perfectly prepared), risotto with oyster, braised lamb shank and dessert. Amazing. Our waitress (and likely manager) was incredibly friendly and patient. Small place - everyone ordered the set menu and seemed incredibly pleased. You can just tell from the vibe in the room that everyone enjoyed their meal. An absolute must.

Yelp
In my opinion, French cuisine is hit or miss; and for the last six months, has been a miss almost every time. But thankfully a friend sent us Le Figaro's list of best Bistros in Paris. That's how we found L'Agrume, and it's completely changed our perception of French cuisine. My bf and I each ordered the degustation menu, which I'll do my best to accurately recall what it consisted of: - Halibut tartare w/very thin slices of apple. It was so refreshing and light, a great starter dish. - Sea bass risotto w/roasted pine nuts. This was absolutely amazing, perfect balance of smokiness and citrus. - Filet of sea bass with leeks cooked in a light chicken infused sauce. The sauce was a little sweet and just salty enough, it was my favorite dish. - Magret de canard (duck steak?) was cooked with some type of light soy, and served with an orange sauce that was like nothing I've had before. It was to die for and the bf's favorite. - Whipped egg white foam over banana slices in mango sauce. My description doesn't do the dessert justice at all.. This was the perfect end to our first REAL bistro experience. Parisians are always saying that French cuisine is the best in the world, and we've always argued otherwise. Now we're not so quick to argue. The staff at L'Agrume was also very friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
My husband and I have eaten here twice in the last month (April/May 2011). It's a small handsome restaurant with good, friendly service. Both times we ordered a la carte as the set menu had a fish course and my husband doesn't eat fish. All our food was very good. The appetizers were the best, excellent: 2 different risottos, a wonderful asparagus citrus salad, and a Burata di Bari (mozzarella like cheese) with vegetables. For main courses we had 2 fish dishes (Filet de Saint Pierre and another), a duck dish and a Kobe steak. All good. We only had 1 desert which we shared, rhubarb and strawberries in sauce with whipped cream and a light pastry -- again, very good. There's a limited but acceptable wine list. The a la carte servings are large, all courses could easily be shared (with the exception of the asparagus/citrus salad). Also, both nights there were 4 deserts to chose from but none unfortunately with chocolate. We plan on returning again, will order less food and hope there's a chocolate desert.

Yelp
We went here with a small group and each course was better than the last. Very well thought out menu and the staff was very attentive. In the summer, it would be very nice to sit outside, only a sidewalk but an opportunity to watch the people. This is one of the restaurants I recommend on a regular basis.
