Where to Find the Best Water Ice in Philly | Eater Philly

"From inside this small East Passyunk Avenue store, an Italian food paradise beckons. The old-school Lucio Mancuso & Son shop is full of imported cheese, baked goods, and other specialties — plus house-made water ice. Those who like chunks of fruit in their frozen treat will especially enjoy this version, which comes in just three flavors: lemon, cherry, and chocolate. Might as well pick up some fresh mozz to go, too." - Dayna Evans

Everything you could expect from a South Philly Italian Deli. No nonsense- just fantastic ingredients and great sandwiches. All the favorites are here- classic Italian, roast pork, chicken cutlet with sharp provolone and broccoli robbe, fresh sliced mozzarella… perfect example of a classic neighborhood hoagie / sandwich shop.

South philly is home to some of the best italian hoagies in the entire country. The old italian hoagie at Mancuso's is towards the top of that list.

My cousin gifted me some fresh mozzarella from here and my son loved it. I heard they make it fresh and they also make fresh ricotta. I stopped in to see the place and picked up some more fresh mozzarella. The store is a small, clean, specialty shop with many Italian lunch meats, olives, cheeses, peppers, just to mention a few items. I met Jake and Elaine today, and they are very nice and accommodating. Their mozzarella is great on sandwiches, it melts beautifully and it tastes great. The ricotta is delicious and their hoagie, made on Cacia's bread was delicious! Can't wait to try their other homemade specialties, like their rice pudding.

40 years old and lived in philly most of my life. This is perhaps the best Italian hoagie I’ve ever had. The meat was so thinly sliced. Only the best top notch ingredients. House made ricotta and mozzarella were incredible as well. Jake is a very nice friendly guy. 100% will be back. Again and again and again

My son and I drove up from Baltimore because he’s been on a hoagie kick. The people that work in the store were so nice to us. They continuously gave my son free samples of meat and homemade mozzarella while they were making his hoagie. We really appreciated the sandwiches they were absolutely delicious
