La Baita

Fabulous restaurant. Food is consistently excellent. Service always spot on. This is a traditional, owner run-and-operated Italian restaurant. We have been eating here for over 35 years and it remains a family favourite. Pizzas and freshly made. Fresh fish from the markets and a wide range of pasta and meat dishes. Garlic prawns are superb. Sea Bass al chef (specials board) is always excellent and the Apple Pie and the Tiramisu (both home made) are always delicious. A true gem of a restaurant and always busy. You do need to book. It is always popular and has many, many regulars.

Lovely family run Italian restaurant, well established with typlical Italian menu as you’d expect plus daily specials. Prices are very reasonable. Service is fantastic

We had a great meal at La Baita. We’ve lived in Chingford for just over a year now and this was our first visit. Having tried several restaurants on Station Road, La Baita is now one of my favourites and certainly the most reasonably priced. Great food, friendly staff and lively atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.

Heavy rain and bad traffic in Chingford one weekday evening brought us to the door of La Baita...and we've been doing a bit of an Italian restaurant tour in the local area recently so we thought why not! Just based on this one visit - La Baita beats all the other Italian restaurants we've been to in Wanstead, Buckhurst Hill, Chigwell, Loughton and Snaresbrook combined. We're definitely coming back. Fresh food, really attentive staff, a great menu an interesting specials board and a friendly family run atmosphere.

Highly recommend the skate wing with capers and butter. The tiramisu is homemade and the best I’ve had in London.

Stopped off for a quick bite to eat, ended up having a 2 course meal with wine. The food was fresh and delicious, the service was extremely high quality, and the atmosphere was perfect. Found this restaurant by accident but will returning deliberately.

This place has very nice food and the staff are also good. Pizzas are very tasty and extra thin base type which is good and the lasagna is 10/10. The calamari is nice and the restaurant is clean and tidy. I like to say very good overall and prices are fair and reasonable for meal, not cheap but ok… 🙂

If people hadn't kept telling me how wonderful this place was, I would not have been disappointed. We certainly received a warm welcome, excellent service and large portions at reasonably prices in this small, comfortable venue, but the food could only be described as OK. We chose this restaurant for our very discerning guest, as it was said to be the best in the area, but we ended up feeling a bit embarrassed at his comments on the calimari and spaghetti bolognaise. Whitebait and tortellini were both good. None of us tried the pizzas - maybe that's where the restaurant's strengths lie. I'd certainly give it another go (but maybe not with a guest I was trying to impress).

La Baita is a small but classical Itlian restaurant in Chingford. the owner Piero,has been their for donkey years and im sad to hear that is retiring soon. The food is a treat,paticular note goes to the creamy carbonara,proper italian garlic and bread and very sweet strawberry ice cream. As mentioned before,its small but the tiles with images of some of the stunning Itlians towns and the lamps make a very cosy,unformal feel.The restaurant is of course not without its famous visitors,there are scores of photos and autographs all over the place,and recent visitors include Sir Alan Sugar and Sid Owen (who sadly,didnt get a table) the only drawback is its not that cheap,but i think for the friendliness and food,its sure to be worth it.
