"With its wooden architecture and a wide open-air porch, La Balsa is the type of place where you'll want to stall a little while you finish off your bottle of wine post-meal. In August, their evening buffet is amazing—it's a bit pricey and there are moments it can feel like a scene, but it's a great place for a summer night."

I've been here before. It was always a great restaurant. They had exquisite food, and the location and atmosphere were and still are beautiful. However, things change in time, and so do cooks. This cook decided to take out a few items from the old menu, not because they were hard to make, probably just to make a point, his point... hence my 4 stars for the food... Yet, what was served was good. I'll let others who had the old and the new experience give their evaluation.

From the entrance to the dining room to the menu each part has been thoughtfully considered. The outdoor terrace wraps around most of the restaurant and you are beautifully set in the trees. The waiters are friendly and happy to provide recommendations if asked. The menu is made up of creative dishes and fresh ingredients. It can become an expensive meal if you want to try a variety of dishes, but literally nothing disappointed us. The gazpacho came with a side of diced ingredients to add yourself so each spoon could have a different taste if you wanted. Update: I’ve now been at least 4 times and each time I find something new to enjoy. The waiters, host and the entire staff make the dining experience equally as enjoyable as the food.

A really good restaurant located in the top neighbourhood of Barcelona. The place is definitely different; it has a woody design, a closed terrace and an open-air terrace. The food was really good. The octopus was the best plate, and the rest of them were tasty and came in good quantities. The service was kind and we felt important to them. For me, all the aspects (not just food) bring this place to have 5 stars. 100% recommended for client lunches, couples, or groups of friends.

We had a wonderful dinner here, escaping the hustle and bustle of downtown Barcelona. Our server was a real firebrand and was a ton of help when navigating the menu. We both had the rice dishes (one oxtail and one fish) after she said that the rice dish with oxtail was one of her favourites; she wasn’t wrong! If you are looking to decompress and have a great night out, Balsa should be on your list.

One of the better restaurants in Barcelona for sure. But to be honest it is because the competition is not that great. The food was good, but it was not anything out of this world, but i gotta repeat myself, it was good. Prices are higher but it is acceptable because of the atmosphere which is definitely the absolute best aspect of this barcelonian hidden gem. Would recommend!! Will come back!

The tapas were delicious! For the main course, we were offered Norwegian salmon or "Pork and Shrimp". I would have gladly eaten any fish from the Mediterranean or the Atlantic, but to eat farmed salmon from Norway didn't make sense to me. The pork and shrimp were slow-cooked pork trotters, which ended up becoming fat and gelatine. I know it is strong words, but the verdict of the group was unedible and awful. How this dish could have passed any quality control remains a mystery to me. The French toast for dessert was plain, but heaven compared to the pork trotters!

Yelp
I was excited to eat at Michelin star on my trip to Barcelona and La Balsa didn't disappoint. In fact, I wish I would have made reservations for a second night! The ambiance is relaxed, friendly, and cozy. From the moment you walk in the front gate you're taking part in the experience they create. The service was impeccable and our staff made sure to take great care of us. Since I was in space I figured it would be best to get the Paella and it was absolutely delicious. The wine selection was perfect and the Lemoncello for a dessert drink was a great way to round off the amazing meal. What was more surprising is that the prices were very reasonable for the experience, quality of the food and top-notch customer service.

Yelp
I don't understand the ratings of this restaurant, it is overpriced, menu is below average, 25 eur, worth not more than 12 in town. Rise was good, the main course not. Desserts also far below the average

Yelp
The service was pretty slow and the food was mediocre. We ordered starters and main dish. The cod fish we had as main dish was nothing special, the meat was good tho. The dessert we had fruit sorbet which was very tasty. To sum up, very expensive and the cuisine must be improved.

Yelp
Fantastic, excellent, exquisite, classy restaurant. What else can I say. Me and my friend bumped into this classy restaurant surrounded by trees. You wouldnt notice there is a restaurant because only a baner with the name of "La Balsa" was placed at the pole. We speak no Spanish but they do have an english menu. Service was ok but couldnt expect much from Spaniards. The food is exquisite and delicious. Very pricey though. But worth the price.

Yelp
I came here after visiting the Cosmo Caixa, since it was just a few blocks away we walked here and came across a hidden gem. Quite literally, the entrance to the restaurant is an arc with plants all around. We walk up a flight of stairs and enter the restaurant and order a table in the beautiful patio. Definitely suggest sitting outside if the weather is nice. Apart from the beautiful exterior, the interior has a homey feel to it, nice white linens clothe the tables, and comfortable chairs a definite plus. The aura was a excellent. But what of the food? Well, we started with an appetizer that was a four cheese ravioli accentuated with black truffle shavings, and pulled all together with a nice subtle white wine butter sauce, perfect start. The server brought out complimentary mixed olives, olive oil, bread, and what i believe was a spanish version of mozzarella sticks, but nothing like I've had before. They were crispy on the outside, gooey inside, served with just a touch of what seemed to be a greenish pepper jelly; wow, it was delish. For my entree, i had their daily catch, a lightly breaded monkfish topped off with red peppers and served with a lime cream to settle down the slight spiciness of the peppers. Simple but delicious. We finished our entrees and the server came by with a cart with all of their homemade desserts, and although i was completely full, my epicurean split personality overcame that and i inquired about one of the desserts in the cart. The server was very knowledgeable and sold me on a sweet thin bread with a layer of chocolate, followed by a layer sweet cheese(possibly mascarpone), and a final thin piece of bread that had a sweet honey glaze on top. It was fluffy, airy, and dreamy; i still have dreams that haunt me of this dessert. Wow. Sooo good. Fantastic restaurant, appropriately priced, excellent service with knowledgeable staff, and a perfect interior and exterior decor. Definitely recommend this for anyone traveling to Barcelona.
