The 22 Best Restaurants In Baltimore - Baltimore - The Infatuation

"A few blocks away from the northern edge of Patterson Park, La Barrita is all about rare-cooked meats, incredible pasta, and servers who moonlight as wild soccer fans. Come with a few friends for the Parrillada X2, a mixed grill platter with tender steaks, chimichurri, and sides, and some handmade pasta like the fettuccine with a creamy mushroom sauce. In addition to being an ideal spot for special occasions and dates, this is one of the best places in the city to watch a soccer match at the bar, especially if an Argentinian team is playing." - michele berry

Great neighborhood restaurant. Lovely decorations and table setting. Everything was delicious and well prepared. Empanada appetizer (2) came with a mound of garlicky fries (that and a salad would make a good dinner). We also ordered the parrilla/grill for two and it was so much food! Came with the heavenly fries and a nice green salad to cut through the heaviness. Dessert was a sublime crepe filled with dulce de leche (caramel) and a lovely flan. The servers were super friendly and attentive, with an attitude as if they really enjoyed working there. We didn’t have drinks but their wine list looked great and their cocktails were tempting. Great overall experience. I could see myself going regularly if I lived locally. One thing of note: they do not serve coffee or tea. Make a reservation as place is small and fills quickly. Definitely recommend.

Came here for a friend’s birthday and definitely didn’t disappoint. The food was amazing and the portions are huge. We split a platter meant for two between three people and still had leftovers. The service was fantastic. They even brought a crème brûlée style crepe for my friend! Highly recommend for a date night.

Let me explain something here, I go to all sorts of Latin American and South American places when Im in Miami and all I can say is I'd put La Barrita up against any of them. This quaint little Argentinan restaurant is a must try hidden gem in Baltimore. The food service and atmosphere is everything you could want in a restaurant. Its not cheap but not too overpriced either. We had the appetizer specials, empanadas and burratta cheese. Outstanding!!! The steak was fantastic and my dish was the seafood risotto which had muscles and chunks of squid in there. It was fabulous and probably one if the best risotto dishes I've had. The flan was also great, while maybe a bit pricey at 15 bucks it was tasty. Definitely put this on your go to list soon and let me know if this review helped!!!

Google
I’ve eaten here several times and each time it is a 5 star experience. Have yet to try something I don’t like. Tried their seafood risotto special and they nailed it. Other than Marta’s, this is probably the best restaurant in Butchers Hill and one of the best in Baltimore. I highly recommend it and bring people visiting from out of town here all the time.

Google
La Barrita was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The food was excellent, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The owner made us feel like old friends, and our waiter was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and genuinely invested in making our meal special. We were lucky to visit on a slower Monday, which made for an even more intimate and personalized dining experience. We originally went for an anniversary dinner, but we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend! Oh forgot to include how amazing the food was! The burrata was phenomenal. Gnocchi unmatched and steak cooked and seasoned perfect.

Excellent meal and great service. Good selection of wines. Best beef empanada outside of Argentina. Steak properly cooked. Fresh pasta! Deserts were just ok, so there is room for improvement.

This is a cute restaurant but not a favorite of mine. It’s a reasonably size place with outdoor seating. It was warm when I went but with the windows open a sweet glass of wine, there were a lot of gnats and flies. I had to get a new glass of wine because one flew into my glass. I had Brussels sprouts, fettuccine pasta and flan. The Brussels were clearly cooked in the oven and not crispy. If that’s your vibe then you’ll love this! The pasta is made fresh in house and you can tell! It was actually divine with fresh mushrooms. The biggest disappointment was the flan, sadly. Flan is supposed to be light and airy but this one was dense and cold as if it was being thawed from the freezer. I tried to eat a good portion of it to get a good taste but it simply didn’t work for me. Overall, I think you should give this place a try and just avoid the flan. The table in front had a very visually appealing meal and I almost wished I switched mine. The staff is great. My server was very kind and the food came out at a reasonable pace!

Google
I went to this restaurant last night, and the service was absolutely impeccable! Our server went above and beyond, refreshing our cutlery and plates and making sure we were well taken care of. The chimichurri with bread was incredible, and the empanadas—especially the trio—were a standout. I’d definitely order those again. The steak was good and cooked to the correct temperature, but it was a bit tough, which is the only reason I’d rate the food a 4. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but I didn’t mind—it felt more intimate than cramped, which added to the charm. Overall, though, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely go back! Maybe not my very first option, but it’s solidly in my top 10.

Yelp
While the food isn't that picturesque, the quality and taste of each dish was top notch! We started with the beef, chicken, and spinach empanadas. Chimichurri was heavenly!! Entree's ordered: Risotto con Tuco: large portion (enough for two), meat tender, rice well cooked. Bife de Chorizo: well grilled, the chimi was a great addition. Sides were also in large shareable portion with this dish. Bartender Marty was attentive and open to providing feedback about certain dishes. The space is cozy, reservation recommended, bar seating available.

Yelp
This place was delicious! Not only was the food so good and the ambience so cozy and warm but they gave you generous portions! We got their salad which was well dressed, flavorful and refreshing. And the pasta dishes- their spaghetti and their fettuccine with meat sauce. All the pasta was fresh and made in house and the sauce was so good! My personal favorite was the spaghetti. And again, I left feeling so full and satisfied because of the large portions! It felt like they were welcoming you to their home because they didn't skimp on the portions! Best size of any restaurant I've been too! We also got their berry panna cotta which was delicious! Overall, I can't wait to go back! Perfect late night meal- this place is a gem of a restaurant! I felt warm, cozy and taken care of by the entire experience!

Yelp
The vibe and the atmosphere however, were 5 stars - and was happy with the service - but I was underwhelmed by the food offerings. The empanadas were okay, and the accompanying fries (which is a weird accompaniment) were limp. The traditional beef and chicken empanadas were not even traditional - there were no hard-boiled eggs, olives. The polenta was sadly not the soft type that I was used to in many Argentine restaurants but were instead a cut out triangular shape block, making it dense which is a poor match for a heavy mushroom cream - the softer polenta would make it a better match. Until the kitchen corrects their menu to truly reflect Argentine cuisine, I can't recommend this place for the two items we had above. Sadly we weren't hungry for more this evening.

Yelp
Amazing and adorable spot in Butchers Hill! Finally made it here after forever! We were able to get a table despite it being the weekend, but there were just two of us and we sat outside. As a vegetarian, it took me a while to try this place, but there were great options! Started with complimentary bread which came with a delicious dip! We got the spinach empanadas, the polenta del bosque as appetizers. The empanadas were great and definitely and good serving! The mushroom cream sauce on the polenta was incredible. Finally, got the gnocchi with eggplant which was also amazing! Their gnocchi was well cooked, and perfectly soft. Excited to try more of their pastas and appetizers next time!

Yelp
First time and loved it! Really cozy and intimate. The service was awesome. We went by on a Sunday night without a reservation and the place was pretty packed. Thankfully we got bar seating fairly quickly. Drinks - the sangria (red) was delicious. Probably the best (most authentic) sangria I've had in Baltimore. They also have a few selections of Malbec. They serve a complimentary chimichurri with a side of bread - delicious! And for the main we shared the parilla for two. There was so much food - could have easily shared that between four. It also comes with a ton of fries. The meat was delicious. I'd definitely recommend! We are going back to try the empanadas next time!

Yelp
Amazing experience!! The food is fantastic! You can tell they make great efforts to provide a delicious meal. Their pastas are housemade. The service was excellent! The establishment is small but very beautifully decorated. The layout allows for an intimate dining experience. It's not very loud either. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Only reviewing this place for the service. I heard the food is amazing so I booked it for my friends birthday. The only available table was outdoors & there was no forecast of rain originally but when we got there, it had been raining - they hadn't put the umbrella up/had no outdoor seating and pointed to a dark table in the rain for my RESERVATION and sarcastically said "sorry for the rain I guess!" Put my name down, they told me it would be about an hour - called 1.5 hours later for an update, and got chastised by someone over the phone. "Do you expect me to magically create a table out of nowhere? One more hour probably, I have nothing more to say I will see you in an hour" *hangs up.* For a place so well rated, I was so disappointed at the service and how annoyed they seemed at me for calling once for an update. Frankly, made me not want to end up trying this place which is a shame because I've heard good things.

Yelp
Great food and Marty was fantastic! Would recommend for a date night or friends catching up over a nice glass of wine paired with a steak.

Yelp
Love this place! Best steak I've had in a while! Service was great and the ambiance was awesome as well. It's a tiny but mighty spot. Even the salad was amazing! Loved their empanadas also. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
The risotto with short rib ragu was spectacular. Although the steaks looked and smelled incredible, I'm excited to try the fettuccine w/ragu next time!

Yelp
Amazing !!!!! The food is to die for! The owner is super nice and the staff is amazing.. it's a smaller section to eat but felt so cozy and unique!

Yelp
Very interesting place. Last year I had salmon risotto here and it was phenomenal. Their service was nice as well. WAS. Yesterday I went to La Barrita with my friend. It was a Thursday night. I made the reservation on Wednesday. Upon my arrival, they couldn't find my name, but it wasn't a big issue because the host has a table for us. Cool. I heard that their gnocchi is great but I am particular about the texture of the gnocchi. I asked the waitress about it. To avoid misconception/disappointment, I wondered if I can have a piece of gnocchi to tryout but it was not possible. That's fine. Then the waitress kept assuring that they have amazing gnocchi so I decided to try it. Oh I didn't like gnocchi at all because it was mushy. My friend had Spaghetti pesto, her food was great, just a tad bit too salty. When the waitress came over and asked about the food, I told her that the gnocchi was terrible but it's just a personal preference, and I asked for the menu. (I don't mind paying two dishes for myself and I planned to take the gnocchi home in case someone else from my home wants it). She froze with a big smile on a face for a few seconds. I was confused and I asked, "why are you so happy? I said "horrible" not "terrific", and could I please have the menu thank you." As she gave me the menu she took away my food directly and said to her coworker (in a relatively loud voice), "She said it's terrible why are you so happy about it". Her action scared my friend. I could see that my friend's expression and body language changed after the rude treatment from the waitress. I was a little shocked as well, but I feel worse about my friend because I took her out for relaxation and really didn't expect this behavior from a relatively nice restaurant. Afterwards, things went okay. I got charged for the second dish, not the first. Other people who were working there reassured that my second dish was fine, resulting my rating to be 3 stars instead of 1. Take your chance. You might get a good experience, or an unfortunate one.

Yelp
La Barrita is a stellar addition to the Butcher's Hill neighborhood and a Baltimore top 3! The food is phenomenal; Argentina's food culture is a marriage of Spanish and Italian flavors with Indigenous and Creole influences, making it our top choice for visitors, who always request to return. We always order the Provoleta baked provolone cheese to share, the Fettuccine Del Bosque pasta with a delicious mushroom cream sauce, and the Ojo De Bife ribeye steak. If you have room, try the empanadas. The upscale casual atmosphere is intimate and perfect for any occasion, from an anniversary to a dinner with colleagues. Plus, the owner is incredibly kind and considerate--we've met him several times, and he always leaves a great impression. I can't recommend La Barrita enough!

Yelp
We went around 7pm on a Saturday. We didn't have a reservation so sitting at the bar was our only option for dine-in service. The restaurant was quite cozy so I wouldn't recommend going with a large group. I had the spaghetti pomodoro and brussels sprouts. My partner had the sirloin with fries and a salad. I took a picture of his steak but I came out blurry so I didn't post it. The spaghetti was good. The sauce was flavorful and the portion was huge. I'm sure I'll be eating spaghetti for the next two days. The brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly but could have used a pinch of salt. I tasted my partner's steak and fries. The steak was cooked perfectly but the fries were very salty. I'm definitely going back and I'm getting a steak... with no salt on the fries.

Yelp
I haven't had Argentinian food in quite some time. I was excited to try this as it was one of my friends' favorite restaurant in Baltimore. It wasn't super busy on a Saturday night. We had a reservation for three. We were seated at one of the high top tables, which was spacious. Once we sat down, we noticed that our feet were at the same level as the outdoor dining table. I was afraid that my Birkenstocks would land on their food as I tend to swing my feet sometimes. I can't imagine it was ideal for them as well to have 3 pairs of feet right next to their faces and food. We asked to switch to the bar, which was harder than it should have been. We were made to feel that we were being difficult. The food, however, was amazing from the complimentary hot bread to the burrata special with prosciutto, honey and truffle oil though I was expecting more honey. The fettuccine with mushrooms was so rich and decadent. The steak and fries were very well done as well. I would've given this place a 5/5 but the harsh service was hard to overlook. I really do think they should rearrange the outdoor tables so that they're not right next to people's feet sitting at the indoor high top tables. Or maybe install an extra barrier to protect their faces and food.

Lawson M.

Yelp
Great service and amazing food. Had the mushroom polenta, empanadas, and parrillada for two. Everything was fantastic, it was so much food we took a lot of steak fries and salad home. Delicious cocktails too. Not too loud or busy, very cute place. Definitely feels like you're getting the value for your money here. Highly recommend.

Yelp
A great local Argentinian steakhouse that offers a much better experience than a Fogo de Chao type chain. Definitely make a reservation in advance, we tried to come before on a weeknight and it was hard to get even bar seating. Now you can make a reservation online which makes it even easier. Firstly they start you off with some freshly baked bread which was so yummy. We came with some friends and were very excited to try the steak! Because we weren't too hungry we got the Parrillada X2 to share, which was a mix of different cuts of steak (cooked to your preference) along with a sausage, fries and a salad. It was a large portion of food and could easily have been shared with more people, especially with an appetizer or two. The steaks were cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed their chimichurri based sauce but if we ordered in the future I may just order the filet or ribeye. The vacio was a little tough and the sausage was just ok. Our friends ordered one of the risotto dishes which they enjoyed as well. I will definitely be back to try some more of their menu!

Yelp
Been meaning to try this place for a while! As a vegetarian, I found there to be decent options! The mushroom polenta was very creamy and rich - what a great dish. The eggplant parm came in the cutest container and was very flavorful and cheesy. The provaleta was so good & cheesy. Loved all 3 desserts we got- lava cake was gooey and chocolatey, the panna cotta was light and refreshing (seasonal fruity flavor) and the flan was decadent with the dulce de leche. The vibes were great and our waiter was so helpful. Funny thing to note- they always made sure our water glasses were full! I also got a cocktail that was very delicious but no photo!

Yelp
We absolutely loved our dinner here last night! We've had La Barrita on our list of restaurants to try and we finally booked a date night. The outside of the restaurant is adorable. I love the feel of the little cafe tables sat outside, it reminded me of many restaurants in Buenos Aires, especially if the garage doors had been open to connect the inside and the outdoors. The inside is so warm and cozy, with Edison bulbs casting a mute golden glow and the burgundy walls reflecting it. The menu has a lot to choose from, there is definitely something for everyone. The ham, cheese, and onion empanadas were fresh and delicious - this was one of their three empanada specials and we devoured them. Everyone also gets toasted bread that comes with chimichurri to dip. For our mains, I had the ravioles verdes. They were big, stuffed full of spinach, beef, and garlic, and soooo yummy. I couldn't eat the entire dish so I have three raviolis waiting for me. The absolute star dish of the night was the risotto con langostino (shrimp) - it was a big dish that was so creamy and savory. Every bite was delicious. To finish, we had the flan with dulce de leche and it was perfectly sweet to end the night. This was such a fun place within walking distance of Patterson Park. If you haven't been, I highly recommend!

Yelp
The food and service were 10/10! It's a small, cute restaurant tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in Baltimore. I went with my best friend and we had a time. Drinks were strong and delicious. The food was well seasoned and had great portions. Highly recommend for a friend date, date night or small group but definitely make a reservation.

Yelp
My friends and I came here on a double date on a Friday night. Make sure to have a reservation as there are not many tables! We had a reservation and were seated right away. The server came to explain to us some options of how we could do dinner if we wanted to split or all get separate meals. It was great info - and definitely helped us order! We all ordered empanadas (6 for the table of 4), 2 pasta dishes, and the Parrillada X2. This was a hefty feast but we managed to eat it all. The empanadas were phenomenal - they had a special empanadas of beef with potato and raisins which was our fave. For pasta, each couple split another special - gnocchi with truffle, also incredible. The main entree was the Parrillada X2 which is several cuts of meat, fries, and salad. It is supposed to serve 2 but since there were 4 of us and we got other food as well, it was the perfect amount. It was phenomenal and highly recommended for first timers! The entire meal was probably more than we needed but we did want to experience it all. Even though the restaurant is a bit small, it was not too loud and we were not overly crowded. It is about the size of a row house and there is street parking. Overall, we all loved everything we got. La Barrita has been on my list for quite some time and it did not disappoint. If steak and great accompaniments are on your mind - this is a delicious option!!

Yelp
Service - great Ambiance- great Food - best was the provaleta, the spinach empanadas were large and the steak was delicious.

Yelp
La Barrita is a cozy and very cute corner restaurant in Upper Fells, making it a fabulous first date location! It is in a residential neighborhood and there is plenty of parking around. They have outdoor seating and big garage windows that open during warmer weather. The ambient lighting inside makes it a romantic spot. They also do have larger tables inside and bar seating. The service is wonderful, I found our hostess and our server to be very attentive to our empty plates and glasses. They have a wonderful wine list, of which I sampled two wines and was not disappointed. A lot of the menu is small plates, but they do have a large selection of steaks and pastas to choose from as well. I would have given them a higher rating based on the decor, service, and drinks, but unfortunately I found the food lacking. For appetizers the chorizo is definitely what I would recommend (5/5, comes with delicious chimichuri). The empanadas were unfortunately average, as were the pastas. Perhaps my mistake was in not ordering steak! Overall, a cute neighborhood restaurant that facilitates good conversation. I will likely try them again in a few months to give the food another go!

Yelp
Went here for a date night due to a friend's recommendation! The atmosphere and the vibes of the restaurant was cozy however the food did not meet my standards. Steak was a little over cooked and the seafood was not very fresh. Glad we tried but won't be going back again.

Yelp
Two friends and I stopped in for dinner the other night. It was closer to closing then opening and we were able to grab three seats at the bar. It's sitting right on the corner of Chester and Fairmount and we also easily found an angled parking space across the street. The ambiance was warm and inviting with fun salsa music playing in the background. One friend got a beer and I ordered the white sangria which was tasty. For our entrees, I got the Risotto con Langostinos (shrimp) and my friends shared a Parrillada X2 which is a traditional Argentinian mixed grill platter with French fries and mixed salad. I loved my risotto. It was creamy, flavorful and definitely not short on the Argentinian shrimp. My friends enjoyed their platter too. I believe one of the beef cuts they chose was slightly overcooked but otherwise everything was delicious. I tasted a piece of their chorizo and it was tasty. For dessert, we split the Panne Cotta which was smooth, light and delicious. Such a great date night, solo or friend dinner destination. I'll be back soon!

Yelp
We went here for Father's Day dinner and were not disappointed. The serving team answered all of our questions and made recommendations. My NY strip was tender, well seasoned and broiled exactly as I requested. Most notably, we had a relaxing family meal and didn't feel rushed to turn the table over, despite the time of evening. We will be back with friends.

Yelp
Steak was Excellent & The Gnocchi was World Class , However the Service at the Bar was out of this Solar System. We came from Dallas Fort Worth & was delighted to see the same Bartender was still serving from our visit last year. The after dinner drinks were diverse & from all parts of the World especially from Italy. So many Restaurants we could have tried but last year's positive experience brought us back & this time with family member's. They said all of our superlatives were true!!! La Barrita Restobar did not disappoint.

Yelp
One of the best means I've had in forever. The service was decent - I wasn't able to make a reservation online so I decided to call and I was out on hold for 25 minutes I then decided to call back and they had turned off their phone because the call did not go through. Either way I showed up and I was able to sit at the bar! Like I said the steak is 10/10! Highly recommend but make a reservation!!

Yelp
Used to be one of my fave places in Baltimore, but their hours have been spotty/unreliable lately (I believe change in management? Luca was great, we never had issues with him). I called to ask if there was space for my party in 30-45 minutes, they assured me there was. By the time I arrived, the restaurant was completely closed, doors locked, lights turned off, chairs on tables, an hour and a half before they reportedly closed (7:40pm // 9pm). If they had just told me they were closing, it would've been fine, but we had to change our dinner plans as a result, which was not ideal. Anyways, pride aside, their risotto con tuco (short rib) is *chefs kiss* (one of my favorite risottos ever) and my friends swear by the fettuccine del bosque (mushroom pasta). The ambience is great for date night or a nice celebratory dinner. I love the empanadas and the fact that they come with yummy fries. The chimichurri and bread is delicious, perfectly warm, and I'm glad it's complimentary. I really hope they fix their hours and reliability, because I miss them.

Yelp
We always have a good time at La Barrita. Alec the bartender is great at his job and everyone else we ever encounter in terms of staff are very nice and funny. We've been coming every Sunday evening since we are in the city and I've never been let down but a meal here or a drink! The chimichurri served with bread and on top of many of their dishes is phenomenal. Our steaks are always prepared for we like and the pasta is fresh. I don't like my fresh pasta too cooked, so it being al dente is great for me. The bosque sauce is to die for on the pasta and on the polenta. The risotto is cooked well every time we order it and the steaks are a great cut to share with someone. We always sit at the bar, but feel free to come in and sit at one of the tables. There owner is also friendly and funny.

Yelp
What a cozy and ambient restaurant in upper fells next to the park. We loved our ribeye entree and got excellent service sitting at the bar.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to visit La Barrita on Saturday for a birthday dinner and it was a great experience. We had the provoleta to start and besides being tricky to cut it was amazing. I would have loved more of the Barrita sauce because the tomatoes has amazing flavor. We also tried the house special shredded beef empanadas and we're surprised that they came with two per order. They were yummy. We split a la Barrita salad which comes dressed and the pears were a little crunchy for me but the flavor was really great: sweet from the honey and pears and salty from the pecorino. For main course I did the fettuccine with short rib which was great. I think I would have liked it more if the sauce wasn't a traditional tomato sauce and was more of a just from the short rib (I love short rib but it got lost in the pasta sauce to me). Pasta was cooked perfectly and to be clear the dish was really great-- I just love the flavor of short rib so next time I'll get that! My husband had the ribeye and said it was perfectly cooked and had amazing flavor. The portions on everything were incredibly generous (we ordered entirely too much food). Our drinks were great and I would be remiss to skip over the service. Our waiter was outstanding!! He was patient, attentive and took time to explain each dish, we owe our wonderful experience to him. Would love to visit again, great spot!

Yelp
We got off to a rough start as our reservation had been lost. I made it three weeks in advance and I learned that all reservations are taken by hand so it was just likely misplaced. At any rate, the staff was profusely apologetic and, after a short wait, made a table available for us. The ambiance is lovely and outdoor dining is available. I had the costilla sin hueso with the accompanying salad and upgraded to broccoli rabe. Everything was...fine. I feel like the broccoli was overcooked which detracted from my enjoyment of it. The salad was fresh if bland and the steak was cooked to my specification. However, the only discernable flavor was saltiness. My companions seemed to enjoy the pasta dishes immensely so I'd come back to try some of those. 3.5 stars

Yelp
Loved discovering this tiny spot in Fell's! I found the dim and romantic ambiance with the huge TVs playing the latest football game to be an unusual choice, but it wasn't enough to take away from the meal. We were given a bread basket with a tasty dip to start, and it was gone within just a few minutes. Who can say no to soft and fluffy bread? We came for the steaks, and my taste buds were not disappointed. The chimichurri was spooned generously over the steak and tasted so delicious and savory. Although my date and I both ordered medium rare steaks, mine leaned towards medium and while his was a true medium rare. I may have peeped at other tables' orders, and their pastas are definitely on my list to try when I come back!

Yelp
I'm still trying to figure out how this restaurant isn't getting any hype from the Baltimore food writers. Baltimore Magazine has never mentioned it, which after my experience, is shocking. Makes me question how those restaurants are chosen for "Best Of" every year. Their chimicuri sauce that is served with the bread is outstanding. Their empanadas, especially the chicken and the beef with raisins, are incredible. The best of the meal however was the NY stripe steak. WOW!!! I have been conditioned to believe that I have had the "best" steaks in Baltimore's best restaurants. Now I know that La Barrita by far has the best steak in Baltimore!!!

Yelp
This restaurant has real authentic Argentinian food. We tried the empanadas, chorizo and provoleta as appetizer and they were delicious. As the main course we had parrillada. The meat was extremely tender and flavorful. Last but not least, the panqueques with dulce de leche and the flan left us asking for more... well... not so much because the portions are not small. Although everything was delicious, some of us at the table were not happy with the chimichurri being "on" the meat instead of being on the side. The waiter was very nice and attentive. The place is really small so make sure you have reservations. We will definitely go back.

Yelp
What a wonderful dinner! We were there today to celebrate a birthday and what a celebration it was. The service was top-notch and the recommendations by the server were spot on. We loved all of our food and will absolutely be back. I even called my mom on the way home to tell her that she and my dad needed to check it out. The ambience is a cool vibe but not stuffy.

Yelp
I went on a rainy Wednesday night in a party of 3. The service was great. We ordered the Trio of Empanadas and the Provoleta! They both were amazing. For dinner I ordered the Canelones Palermo and it was one of the best steak I've had.

Yelp
The atmosphere was lovely. The food was awesome! The sauce on the pasta was gorgeous! The bruschetta with the prosciutto sexy!! I'll definitely go back the next time in Baltimore!

Yelp
Still trying to figure out what all the hype is about, that said I may give them just one more chance to get it right. La Barrita is located at a lovely corner brownstone location in Butchers Hill with decent parking compared to its surrounding streets. A friend and I had heard many great things and saw delectable pics so we decided to give them a try. She arrived at the establishment prior to me and grabbed a seat at the bar. Apparently, they were booked with reservations for the eve and a table wasn't an option, but the bar was fine. We were told they were understaffed by two that evening and only two people were working (one at the bar and one on the floor). La Barrita is quaint and tight, but that's generally what happens when you buy a bar and renovate it to be a restaurant. We were strongly encouraged to place our order fairly quickly as the place gets crowded, the kitchen gets backed up, and it could be an hour and a half before our meals are brought to us. That's said, we ordered a White Sangria, Chicken Empanadas, and Fettuccine Con Bosque. The White Sangria, wouldn't get it again, it was dry and not refreshing-total miss on the Sangria. The Empanadas, all dry and needed a sauce to round them out as they seemed like they were missing something. My friend ended up dipping her empanada in the olive oil mixture they give you with the complimentary bread. The Fettuccine was tasty. Had an amazing creamy truffle and umami flavor. The pasta was a perfect Al dente for me, but my friend said hers was a little toothy with too much bite. All in all, because there were a few misses here, I'd like to give them at least one more chance. Next time I'll order a few different items and hope that it was just an off day. Cheers to a great time!

Yelp
La Barrita has been on my "to check out" list for far too long. Getting to finally experience this undeniable hidden neighborhood gem with a dear friend was the highlight of my week! Set within a corner row home, La Barrita transforms the classic long and narrow shape into an intimate, cozy and inviting space. Service was some of the most attentive and engaged I've had in some time. The table bread alone with herbaceous olive oil dip was enough to forecast an excellent dining experience. We split the spinach, béchamel and parmesan empanadas to start--fresh, flavorful and addictive. The pastry shell is cooked to perfection with just the right level of flaky crisp. The La Barrita salad was a standout, pairing lusciously juicy julienned pears with peppery arugula, nutty crunch from the walnuts and a touch of sweetness from the wildflower honey. And the Gnocchi Con Berenjenas? Exceptional. Melt in your mouth pillowy soft gnocchi with a complex, savory sauce layered with delicately roasted eggplant. We'll have to be sure to leave room for dessert next time! Thanks for a fantastic first meal La Baritta team, and can't wait for our next one!

Yelp
I cannot wait to return here. You absolutely need to call and make a reservation. The food will fill you up and make you crave another visit to try more of their food. There's plenty of options for vegetarians and meat eaters and is all so fresh.

Yelp
a gem in butcher's hill! my bf & I went on a Monday evening and it was pretty packed to our surprise! we got seated right away at the bar and our waiter/bartender was incredible! he spent time telling us the specials and was very attentive at refilling our waters! now to the food- the complimentary bread we got was phenomenal! the dip or sauce (?) they had with it was too good! the bread was perfectly crisp and warm and the sauce was so good we were almost drinking it! I honestly contemplated asking for more but we ordered quite a bit so I held back the actual appetizers we ordered were ok - the brussel sprouts were nicely cooked & crisp but a bit salty especially at the bottom. my bf loved them tho and ate them v quickly! the albondigas (meatballs) were huge and saucy but not super tender I don't think I'd get them again the pastas were both delicious! super saucy and had a perfect bite! honestly didn't think I'd be so full but the portions are actually very fair and I had to take most of mine to go we ordered the panna cotta for dessert (a recommendation from the waiter) and the flavor is seasonal so they had a berry one when we went and that blew us away! we were practically scraping the plate clean! the texture and flavors were just so good and it was a perfect way to end the meal!

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner at this intimate restaurant last night! We went on a weeknight without reservations and were thankfully able to sit right away. My boyfriend said his salmon risotto, a special of the night, was 5/5! I thought my fettuccine pasta was really good as well. Loved our dessert at the end! I like that there's lots of vegetarian options here. There's a few other things I'd like try and will come back for another date night!

Yelp
Birthday boy in our family wanted a steak BDay dinner & so we searched and found this spot on Yelp (where else?!) Located in the Butcher's Hill neighborhood , we arrived a little after they opened on Sunday at 5:30 and it was quite. A smaller spot with a nice and long bar, open window/air seating area & some outdoor tables. Dimly lit so great for Date night, celebrations, etc. Reminded me of some of my favorite spots in Europe. We started with drinks and wanted some of the Draft Beers but unfortunately something was wrong with the Drafts. Ok, so our friendly bartender pivoted & offered some other options & took our orders for a Margarita, Mojito and a Rye Whiskey Cocktail (La Pulga Atomica). Loved my Mojito and overall our drinks more than made up for the missing Drafts. Bread with their amazing Chimichurri sauce is complimentary and we wanted to also try some of the appetizers. Garbanzos Picantes (Fried Chickpeas)-never had it and enjoyed the slightly spicy kick. Chorizo-all enjoyed this grilled favorite with just the right seasoning & spicy. Provoleta was the crowd favorite and stole the show. Pure comfort and a must try! Now for the steak. Most popular cut is the Ojo de Bife (Ribeye) so most ordered that and I got the boneless Costilla Sin Hueso (Short Rib-bone out). Steaks came out as ordered-medium rare (as recommended). The certified Angus didn't disappoint. Loved the perfect char and marbling on this juicy Ribeye! The Short Rib was tender and also excellent! Some of the best steak we've ever had. Reminds me of an amazing Argentinian spot in Copenhagen. We really didn't have any room for dessert. That said, one of the owners stopped by to check on us and we had a good talk which was a nice touch. He sent a couple of complimentary desserts (Flan, Panna Cotta) which were both delicious and appreciated. Alex took great care of us as well our Bartender was quite the Mixologist! By the time we left, they were full so reservations are recommended. One of the toughest critics in our party said she wants to return. Yes we will be back for the steak but to also try the pasta dishes which have been highly recommended. Our Birthday boy & entire party left happy after this amazing meal and experience!

Yelp
We have been meaning to try La Barrita for awhile. They hook up fast so definitely plan ahead and make a reservation before stopping in! Seating is limited on the weekends. The inside is decorated with a ton of Messi and Argentina decor..pretty cool. Other than that the bar/layout seems like your typical Baltimore restaurant interior. The servers and hosts were extremely nice, attentive, and willing to give their recommendations as it was our first time at the restaurant. They give you complimentary bread and olive oil with herbs to start..super good. We started with the polenta as an app. The sauce with chorizo was really good and savory. For our entrees we ordered the fettuccine with a mushroom cream sauce and the ribeye steak. The portions were large and worth the price. The fettuccine was cooked well and the mushrooms were delicious. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The large side of fries and salad were also tasty and filling. Would definitely recommend this spot. The wine menu was extensive and the food menu has something for everyone.

Yelp
What a charming, intimate restaurant for a romantic date night! If you prefer a table, you must make reservations in advance. We were greeted by a friendly hostess, who kindly seated us at the bar. Our server was gracious and gave us excellent recommendations as this was our first visit and we were unfamiliar with the menu. Upon arrival, we were given delicious hot and toasty bread, accompanied with a dish of olive oil (blended with garlic, fresh parsley, olive oil, and red peppers). We devoured the appetizer, Polenta De Campo. The polenta was light, fluffy, and creamy and the tomato-based chorizo sauce is balanced with deep, rich tomato and ever-so subtle-smoky flavors mingling. Mouthwatering! My husband and I shared the Parrillada X2 Traditional Argentinian mixed grill platter with French fries and mixed salad. This way, we could sample a variety of meats. We thoroughly enjoyed our the tender, juicy array of beef and sausage; and the scrumptious fries. The portion was generous so we had leftovers that we will continue to savor. Even the salad was exceptional with fresh greens and a lovely balsamic dressing that complemented the meat. We paired our meal with a glass of Merlot. The restaurant is cozy, and the other guest were all polite. a couple even brought their small child who was very well-behaved. This was a truly memorable evening. My only regret is that I did not have room for dessert. I look forward to returning so we can try the flan. The service is extremely professional, and I appreciate the staff's patience with us. Full disclosure: my husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and feeling giddy. We were reminiscing, and we had forgotten our leftovers. Fortunately, the server kindly put them in the refrigerator so we returned to the restaurant that night and retrieved them. It was late and my hubby was tired, and the server could not have been nicer to him. Try La Barrita if you need a celebratory dining experience or to simply spoil yourself.

Yelp
No idea how their meat items are but their vegetarian options and shrimp risotto are so so good. The tomato gnocchi with eggplant is soooooooooo delicious I can't tell how much. Drinks are just ok but they do have a few delicious beer. Appetizers and sides are also really tasty. Also the customer service is really good despite being always super busy. I hope the owner takes really good care of such lovely workers.
