"Chef/owner Ivan Castro developed a passion for cooking at the heels of his mother and grandmother, and he shares the vibrant spirit and bold flavor of his native Mexico City at La Bartola. Bright colors and vivid artwork echo the upbeat mood here, but this isn't your typical taqueria. Instead, traditional and authentic Mexican dishes offer a surprise—they're completely meat-free. Black sesame tostadas with salsa macha negra and sikil pak are a perfect opener. Tacos made from purple corn are eye-catching, while braised hibiscus is a delicious substitute for the typical meat. Quesadillas are filled with a mix of softened roasted potatoes, refried beans, vegetarian cheese and crisped onions. Wash it all down with a mezcal, Mexican beer or tequila." - Michelin Inspector

It’s all about their delicately designed menu, presentation and priceless taste , flavours and texture. The unique menu leaves you flabbergasted, wondering if these delectable dishes can be so immaculately curated created to bring out the right flavour. They are all vegan and gluten-free to escalate your experience. Their guacamole and chocolate cake are once in a lifetime experience, and I highly recommend it if you are one for a scrumptiously tasting, not too decadently sweet chocolate cake. It’s worth a try, absolutely!!! A place to go to for a special occasion and to celebrate something special. It’s terrific:) leaves you craving for more and longing to visit again soon.

I will start my review by saying that I was recommended this restaurant by friends who are vegetarian but I am not. My wife and I came here for date night. We arrived on time and the service was fantastic. We actually had a spot at the bar booked but they placed us at a table as one was available. The vibe was great and the servers were very helpful. However the food itself I struggled with. We had the tasting menu at $75/ person; my wife had the wine pairing which was a good add as it was well thought through. However, Aside from the lions mane steak and the Mexican corn I fount the food really lacking. The desserts were not good at all and the vegetables/ salad were not enjoyable. The cocktails however were amazing. The cost as well was very high, we had 1 drink to start then I had one cocktail and my wife had the wine pairing and it was over $300 with the tip. Overall I would say worth trying but not somewhere we would come back to again.

Even though it earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand (good quality, good value cooking), the mood is decidedly relaxed and low key. But because of this, you also need a reservation or sit at the bar like we did. From there I got a great view of the bright decor and funky art. I ordered the Taco Placero. The handmade purple corn tacos here are all scratch-made and ground in house. Three tacos arrived with completely different fillings. For me the standout was the one with braised hibiscus and caramelized onion topped with peanuts. Another one had lion’s mane mushrooms in a spicy tangy sauce and the last was a pastor that had pieces of pineapple on top. Even if you are a carnivore like my friend, you will gobble these up. Flavourful and satisfying, vegan never tasted so good! Service was prompt, attentive, and pleasant. Our server was incredible! I told her I was celebrating my birthday and she brought over a complimentary glass of wine. For ambience, service, and food you’ve gotta check this out!

The Mexican food at this place is so interesting and special! The flavors felt so authentic and the best part was that everything was plant based. And the service? Top-notch! The staff is friendly, attentive, and really knows their stuff. We tried the tasting menu, which was a great and tasty adventure! 🎉🌯

I went with a friend of mine and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The service and food was amazing. Every single dish that came out was explained to us and how it was prepared. I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in trying out vegan food!

I came here for my birthday. LOVE THE VIBE. They served the fanciest margarita I've ever had. It was delicious! I would have liked to do the tasting menu, but they ran out by the time we got there. It was completely fine because we got to eat my FAVORITE dish of my whole trip to Toronto - the Mole Blanco. I can't describe it; you just have to eat it to see!

Wow. This was an amazing experience. The food was some of the best I’ve had, while I am vegan, my parents who joined me are not and they said they were blown away. We tried the quesadilla and the mole blanco, as well as the guacamole - it was all so fresh, flavourful, and you weren’t reminded that you were eaten vegan, it was flavourful and rich. The atmosphere was perfect, we were on the back patio and it was calm and not overstimulating. The waitress was knowledge and kind, and all of our food came in about 10 minutes. We tried the La Bartola Margarita and it was a whole experience - I would have preferred it a bit sweeter but it was really good. I didn’t love the oaxacan cake but it wasn’t bad by any means. Overall I would definitely return to La Bartola

We went for a tasting menu, the whole experience was really good. Loved Loins Mane steak, Avocado Lime sorbet, Cantaloupe salad. Worth it for the overall fine dining experience.
