"In this fine bastide, savour Mediterranean cuisine that combines the flavours of ingredients direct from the market or the kitchen garden managed by two full-time staff (don’t miss the adjoining Jardin des Simples). The chef here conjures up meticulously executed dishes bursting with sun-blessed flavours such as rabbit with polenta and mustard-flavoured chips. The pleasant setting, including a plethora of olive trees and a plane tree-shaded terrace, adds to the attraction of this perfect resumé of Provence." - Michelin Inspector

We stayed here for two nights in September, and based on the reviews, it seemed like the perfect choice for what we were looking for. Fortunately, it fully lived up to our expectations. Our room, situated in the main building, offered a beautiful view of the garden and the surrounding mountains—a truly picturesque setting. The only minor inconvenience was the limited number of power outlets, making it a bit tricky to use devices like the coffee machine, kettle, and charge our phones simultaneously. The staff, without exception, were warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. We dined at the hotel restaurant both evenings. While the menu was fixed, on our second night we were kindly offered alternative options. Unfortunately, the roasted duckling my husband ordered wasn’t quite up to par, but we appreciated the opportunity to provide feedback to the manager. Overall, our stay was thoroughly enjoyable, and we would happily return to both the hotel and its restaurant on a future visit.

This is a review for the Michelin starred restaurant. We came for lunch and had a lovely time. We were invited to tour their garden of which some vegetables and herbs are used in their dishes. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant overlooks olive trees. The table setting was adorable and the service was stellar. They anticipated everything we needed. I thoroughly enjoyed the amuse bouche of fresh tomatoes and socca. Their vegetable pasta starter was the best pasta we had on the trip and served table side. (Not want you expect). The duck was perfectly cooked and we really enjoyed our desserts. The peach and apricots were the perfect amount of sweetness. When we thought the meal was done, they came out with cake and rose infused cream to close out the meal. I highly recommend if you're in the Moustiers area as the restaurants in Moustiers are lacking.

Absolutely stunning hotel, which you already know if you’re checking reviews. Here’s my opinions based on my experience: Pros: Moustiers Saint Marie was, by far, my favorite town even compared to several other popular ones we visited (we went to a lot). It’s quiet, colorful, and filled with tons of great food and shops. If you’re a lover of vintage, this hotel will be perfect for you. The room attendants are exceptional. They came twice a day, we were given night shirts, and fruit and biscuits daily. Great service. There is so much to explore at this hotel - the garden, pool, restaurant, and there are two really cool donkeys! Overall, a gorgeous property that you’ll fall in love with. Cons: We read that they serve crepes for breakfast and were looking forward to those but when asked about them, the staff seemed to be shocked we would think they offer them. We stayed in a room in the main building which is where the restaurant is - it got pretty loud during dinner time if we were in the room and that lasted til pretty late hours. This one I will elaborate more on - Dinner at their Michelin star restaurant was my least favorite meal of the entire trip, sadly. Many people rave about this restaurant which you might too if you have a broad palette. I do not so my only real option that sounded good to me was the lemon risotto. It did state there would be mint, but that was presented as either a garnish or smaller side ingredient. Three of the four of us ordered this. When it was brought to the table the smell of mint was overwhelming. We thought maybe because so many were being put on the table but upon the first bite we were very caught off guard. It tasted like we were brushing our teeth. The small tasting courses before hand didn’t excite us very much either but I won’t go into any more detail. Moral of the story - probably the worst risotto of my life. But, there’s a chance you can have a totally different experience. Shortest answer of my review: Absolutely stunning hotel and I would return again and again but I would not eat at the restaurant unless a different menu was available, which I’m sorry it would be.

We spent three very relaxing and enjoyable nights at La Bastide de Moustieres recently and have to say that overall it was lovely. Our room was very comfortable and beautifully furnished, the setting and the grounds were all wonderful. The service by the highly professional staff was impeccable. We decided to have a picnic lunch outside our room on one of the most beautiful days during our stay and called reception to ask for a couple of wine glasses. Once they understood they were for a picnic, they arrived with the glasses, along with dishes, silverware, napkins and set the outside table beautifully. Then removed everything when we were done. That kind of thoughtfulness and attentiveness was typical throughout our stay. A wonderful place we will definitely return to again. However, the reason the rating is only four stars is that, unfortunately, the restaurant was disappointing. No bad, just not what one would expect from a four star hotel and one star gourmet restaurant. Frankly, this was surprising, as most are aware it is owned by Alain Ducasse (who obviously wasn’t doing the cooking). But dinner on both our first two nights was very average. On our third night the kitchen was closed, so we decided to try a small bistro in the nearby village, Moustieres St. Marie, which was charming. As previously mentioned, overall we loved the Bastide and can definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing place to stay near the Gorge du Verdon. However, you may want to dine in the nearby tiny village.

This was our favorite hotel of our recent 2 week trip to France, and, our biggest regret is that we did not stay longer! Book at least 2 nights to be able to enjoy the pool, grounds, restaurant, and relax.|We were greeted at the gate by lovely staff, who then assisted with our luggage while we parked. We were given a tour and warmly welcomed. We stayed in the lavendar room, and, it was absolutely lovely. They did have washcloths (which we found not all hotels did), and, we were given lovely night shirts to wear during our stay. We inadvertently did not have a reservation for dinner, and they were able to help us with this. |We thoroughly enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant downstairs.|Additionally, we rented the hotel's electric boat on the lake, and it was lovely. We rented for 1 hour and enjoyed driving around the gorge and lake. There are other electric boats available for rent at the lake, but I think the hotel's boat looked a bit more comfortable. |Lastly, Moustiers-Saint-Marie itself is an absolute gem.|We will be back to stay!

Stunning location. If you sit outside you might be lucky enough to sit by the terrace and experience the amazing view. Faultless service and delicious dining. Well worth a visit.

Lovely cottage house with a farm and botany theme, a lovely garden with herbs veggies and donkeys!m (!) and of course a nice view of the cliff. Dinner was wonderful. Breakfast didn’t sound or look too impressive so we munched our own snacks. 🍴 Dinner Mocktail tastes like fizzy orange juice and evokes childhood memories. Appetizer: Homemade Focaccia infused with tomato and garlic with homegrown tomatoes. Chickpea pancake is pleasantly eggy. Mushroom broth: The Spanish ham tastes good, but the cold soup gets a little greasy because of it. Shrimp is the best. Very tender and flavorful with the shrimp head paste. Monkfish with potatoes picked, pureed and juiced (?). The fish is boiled between raw and cooked, tender and flavorful. Savory, vinegary with a hint of star anise. Pasta is cooked al dente, minty and healthy but not as exciting as the other two options. Bread has crunchy crust and moist texture. Olive oil has strong olive taste. Interesting selections of cutleries. Thoughtful. Today we learned about “French sauce spoon”. —- Guinea fowl with heart and liver broth. The mushrooms are really wonderful, maybe better than the meat itself. The liver pate is flavorful. The breast and leg parts are both tender and have crunchy skin. Fennel from the garden is fun; my first time trying the plant itself. Portion is small but the taste is excellent. Amberjack with carrot juice. Very meaty fish. The seasoning is nice though. —- Desserts are fine. (The most interesting thing is the apricot filled cookie that comes on the side. Aromatic ) The after dessert are better. The flan is awesome. Wiggly and creamy but not too sweet or heavy. Goes well with the verbena tea. —- The service is excellent, friendly and considerate. — The rooms are a little dated.

The room was very nice decorated, with our own terrace.|The gardens from le bastide with all the herbs are wonderful.|Unfortunately we had a lot of flies in the room and it was difficult to get the right temperature.|The bathroom had a shower in the bath, which was n’t very comfortable while the bathroom was very big. |The beds were perfect. |All in all we had a pleasant stay.

Yelp
My husband and I just finished a 3 night stay at this enchanting location. The entire property is breathtaking. You feel so disconnected from the outside world...which is exactly what we wanted. Yet, it is very close to the beautiful Gorge Du Verdon. -Also recommend adding that to the MUSt do list if in the area- We enjoyed playing Poquette (similar to bocce ball) on the grounds and making friends with the sweet donkeys. Everything about our time on the property was special and I couldn't recommend it more. We had breakfast and dinner twice at the newly awarded Michelin Star restaurant onsite. The team did an exceptional job of taking care of us and the food, well it was....magnifique!! Thank you for making our voyage de noces one for the memory books the pictures do not do it justice!!

Yelp
This is a fantastic restaurant. I came at the beginning of the spring so the weather was perfect, a little chill. The crew was truly polished, not fake as many restaurants of Michelin guide. Trust me, this is the best ever. I don't usually write reviews. For this one a made a exception. Portuguese: pode Confiar melhor restaurante da região da Provance, fui em vários do guia Michelin todos gastei mais de 150 euros por pessoa. Nenhum Chega perto desse.

Yelp
Private dining room for our party of four. Very nice. Excellent service. Small menus, ok. Cuisine, good, not great. Prepared well, but seasoning flat, hardly noticeable, uninspired. We were all disappointed. Lift the star and start again.

Yelp
What a wonderful and stunning establishment. The service is second to none. The staff at the front desk, dining room, or anywhere you meet them are friendly, helpfull, courteous and attentive. This was our 6th or 7th time to stay and again we were not disappointed. We took several hikes into the hills and surrounding areas. A reservation was made for us to visit a winery, Chateau Callisse, wonderful warm reception. A very mild negative comment would be on a couple of the dinner meals, some of the portions were way too generous, more what one would find in a typical American diner, as if quantity were being substituted for variety. Some of the starters were chilled creamed vegetable dishes, delicious, but that would have been better served warm. Excellent as always, but missing the some of the outstanding meals of past visits. Without a question we will be back next year.

Yelp
Always good food, great service, and awesome ambiance - be sure to lunch/dine on the terrace. This Alain Ducasse establishment has had one star in the guide Michelin for a while. One of my favorite restaurant for the past 16 years on my regular visits in Provence.

Yelp
My most favorite restaurant in the entire world. The most beautiful terrace at the most beautiful hotel in the most beautiful town in France. They have an a la carte menu, and several prix fixe tasting menus. Choose anything, you won't be disappointed. I've been lucky enough to eat here several times, but I will review my most recent experience. Be sure to dine on the terrace! The amuse bouche is usually a radish spread, with delicious salts, peppers, and an amazing whipped goat cheese spread. Note: the salt cellars are BEAUTIFUL. I have almost taken them several times. They bring out delicious breads and olive oils, which I could eat an entire meal on. The first course was a white bean soup. It was AMAZING. White beans, both whole and pureed, bacon (pancetta, perhaps?), herbs, and oil drizzled on top. So amazing. There was an amazing chicken dish, in which every was cooked perfectly. There was a salad course, a cheese course (SO MANY AMAZING CHEESES UGH I WANT THEM ALL), and about ten dessert courses. The dessert courses were so amazing and fantastic, I could eat them all. The service is top notch, as one would expect at an Allain Ducasse restaurant. You will not be disappointed. My favorite little spot in all of the world. Be sure to go explore the hotel and the grounds. This hotel books faaaar in advance, but sometimes they have a cancellation! Tonight, I will dream of this place and hope that I can go back soon.

Yelp
Wow. What a stunning property. I really don't have anything at all negative to say about this place. We spent 3 lovely nights here, and everything, from the room to service to it all was just about perfect.
