If you love warm, hard, crust Italian bread, you have come to LaBella Italia on Laskin! The appetizers and entrees were quite good. If I could find any criticism, the Osobuco was tender while a bit salty for me, but otherwise excellent food all around. The service was on point, even for Valentine's weekend. We will return to LaBella!

We ordered several dishes and everything was amazing. The bread is home made and beautiful!! As a French person I'm picky about my bread. And I was not disappointed!! The server was super sweet. We had a great time!

Wow. Just WOW. Recently moved to the area from Chicago and have been to a few Italian joints here. This is hands down the best!! My wife and I ordered take out recently and we expected a good meal for $120 but what we received completely blew our expectations out of the water. The food was piping hot and plated the same way that it would be if it was in the restaurant (in boxes, of course but with all the garnishes that you would see if you sat inside the restaurant). You simply don't see that anymore. The sauce was so authentic, I thought I was back at Sicilian Grandmas house. Best of all, my wife was floored by her meal and we all know that's what truly matters. Thank you Labella!!! You have a customer for life.

Been craving for osobuco and this place did not disappoint. Loved the dish. Place was packed but still managed to give us a nice quiet area to sit in.

If you love Italian food, eat here!! If you leave hungry, it's your own damn fault! The food here is top flight Italian/American cuisine. Fresh pasta and bread, Freshly prepared salads, including the best Caesar salad I have had in a long time.... in-house made sauces. Entrees were prepared by a kitchen staff that knows it's business!! And do not skip the dessert menu!!!!

Pulling up, we weren't sure what to expect, but we wanted to try it out. I'm so glad we did!! Some of the best Italian food we've ever had - that's coming from an Italian! SERVICE: Heather was wonderful at giving suggestions and making sure we had everything. I've been in VA Beach for almost a week, and this was the best service we've had. FOOD: The food was homemade, which tasted like the real deal from Italy 🇮🇹 . The bread was to die for and fresh out of the oven. Everything was cooked just perfectly.

Google
Took my son here for some good Italian. We got the fried calamari and shrimp app and it was great. I got the carbonara and it was very creamy and filling, loved the pasta they used for the dish. My son got spaghetti, and meatballs and the portion was big, w 3 large meatballs. To bad they were hard as a rock and very dense. Staff was amazing and friendly and the bread for the table was amazing..

We stopped here to eat recently on the first night of our vacation. He had just had a horrible experience arriving from Pittsburgh only to find out our vacation rental was double booked and we had nowhere to stay that night. The food was delicious and our server, Brittany was AMAZING! She was so sweet and helpful, she even tried calling a couple hotels, she went way above and beyond and we just wanted to give her some recognition. Btw we ended up finding a place on the beach Sunday-Saturday so we were only displaced in a hotel 30 mins away for one night. Highly recommed this restaurant! Food, service and atmosphere all 10 out of 10!

Yelp
Best chicken marsola I've ever tasted. A little bit sweet but mixed with the wine flavor just right. It was so good that I am taking it home for later and with an extra side of pasta for only $6. The waitress was great, very attentive and nice. It was nice to see the manager come over and asked about our experience, which I was happy to let him know it was awesome. The vibe was clean, cozy, relaxing, and welcoming.

Yelp
Come for Dinner, Stay for Dessert -- A Sweet Surprise at La Bella Italia I've had La Bella Italia on my radar for a while now, especially after enjoying their sister restaurant, and it came highly recommended by several friends. I finally got the chance to try it, and while a few things surprised me, overall, it was a lovely night out. To start, I was honestly shocked that fettuccine Alfredo wasn't listed on the menu -- it's such a staple dish! When I mentioned this to our server, he explained it's not officially on the menu, but you can still order it. I appreciated the flexibility, though they didn't actually have fettuccine noodles -- it was served with another type of pasta instead. The flavor was good, especially with the added chicken, but I really believe the fettuccine would've made it much better. The texture just wasn't the same without it. We also ordered cocktails to start the night -- I had an espresso martini, and my friend ordered a lemon drop martini. Both were tasty and well-balanced. No complaints there! The real star of the night, though? Dessert. Hands down, the dessert stole the show. I had the chocolate layered cake, and it was everything you'd hope for -- decadent, rich, and deeply satisfying. My friend ordered a cannoli, which she loved, but that chocolate cake paired with my chocolate martini (with hazelnut liqueur added)? Chef's kiss. It was the perfect pairing -- indulgent, luxurious, and unforgettable. My friend had the lasagna for her meal, and I tried a bite -- super hearty, super flavorful. I usually don't order lasagna out, but next time, I just might. Their sauce was rich and comforting in the best way. Overall, while the entrée portion of the evening had a few bumps, the drinks and dessert made up for it. I'd honestly come back just for the sweets and that chocolate martini.

Yelp
I have been wanting to visit this place since the closing of Monte Bella. Glad I visited today!! Gotta love the ambiance - so open, not a lot of decor but you can tell you are in an Italian resto. Menu is limited but don't let it distract you. I started with the Frito Misto, Casa insalata, and finished it off with the puttanesca. While waiting, complimentary bread and butter was served. The center of the bread was very soft, while the crust was crispy and went well with the soft served butter. Within 10 minutes, the Frito Misto and Casa insalata was served. F. Misto was a conglomerate of plump deep-fried shrimps, calamari, and some semi to mild peppers. Love the zing after a few bits of calamari dipped into the homemade sauce. The batter on the F. Misto was light and crispy. Not a bit of oil at the bottom of the plate. The Casa insalata dressing was light and refreshing. The miniature capers, kalamata olives, slivers of parma, sliced grape cherry tomato, and carrots wee a hit. I could have opt for another but I knew pasta was inbound. The puttanesca was sooooo goood!!! Pasta was perfectly al dente and the tomato sauce with a hint of anchovies was just right!!!! But you know, the first two and the bread stuffed me, so it became a to go box for lunch tomorrow. Will definitely return for another round as the drive is well worth a good meal.

Yelp
I've passed La Bella Italia many times over the years but never stopped in so when my friend mentioned trying it out, I was all for it. La Bella Italia is actually the sister restaurant to Steinhilber's Restaurant, which I thought was pretty interesting. We arrived a little before 7pm and it was only a few people there. I've actually never seen the restaurant packed so I've always been skeptical of the food. Our server was very nice and asked for our drink orders as we looked over the menu. I ordered a Lemon Drop Martini while my friend ordered an Espresso Martini. My drink was alright, I've had better. Unfortunately, my friend didn't enjoy her drink at all and eventually switched it for a Chocolate Martini. I'm a huge fan of Fritto Misto, which is fried shrimp and calamari, so I started with that and decided on the Lasagna as well. As we waited for our food, we enjoyed the complimentary bread. The crust was hard but the inside was warm and soft. The butter tasted a bit like margarine so we opted to eat the bread without it. The Fritto Misto was fantastic and probably the best I've ever had! The seafood was seasoned, lightly fried and cooked perfectly! The Lasagna was pretty good, but it had a little too much meat for my liking. My friend ordered the Chicken Alfredo and she enjoyed it. As our server packed up our meals, he shared with us some items on the dessert menu and we were sold. My friend ordered the Double Chocolate Cake which was absolutely delicious, it was decadent and rich and paired wonderfully with her Chocolate Martini. I decided to try the Lemon-Berry Mascarpone Cake and it was good, very light and full of flavor. Our server gave us complimentary Cannolis which were great! Definitely stop in and try out La Bella Italia! I hate that I've missed out all these years but if you're craving Italian, definitely try them out!

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night with our family. The restaurant was full of people but still plenty of room for more. Our waitress was very attentive and patient with us, our parents are deaf so dining in can take a bit longer with translation. Three of us ordered the chicken Parmesan and one of us got the chicken Marsala. Everything was hot and season well. The bread and oil was one of my favorites. The tiramisu we got to go home and it was so yummy.

Yelp
Enjoyed a great meal with great service. Food was delicious, dessert was decadent! David is the best server! Can't wait for my next visit!

Yelp
Food is delicious, the Ambiance is nice , service is great and friendly . A down home meal fresh ingredients oh and I love the bread loaves they give the customers to take home.

Yelp
Joe. He's the man. Without him this joint is not the same. The food is excellent and, an exception at the oceanfront , is priced reasonably.

Yelp
We came for coffee and dessert and found our new date night. Amazing cappuccino, caramel brûlée cheese cake and the tiramisu, blew us away. The waiter David was very welcoming and proper. Felt like we were family. Be back weekly perhaps. Highly recommend!

James W.

Yelp
I ordered the veal parmigiana and the shrimp, for once I thoroughly enjoyed my Italian meal. The pasta in Pomodoro sauce was absolutely delightful. The veal was wonderful. The bread came with tasted so good and fresh. And of course, the shrimp melted in your mouth. I picked the order up and it was wonderful even by the time I got home. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. When I entered the restaurant to pick up the food it was a very delightful atmosphere. James W.

Yelp
La Bella Italia is a huge Place plenty of seating we were a Party of Five my wife and I daughter son and one of his her sons and her daughter service was great the waiter knew what he was talking about and recommendations all the dishes came out rather quickly and we thoroughly enjoyed our food and most of us didn't have room for any kind of dessert I ordered their fried shrimp appetizer as my entree because they're huge love the place it is our go-to Italian restaurant

Betsy R.

Yelp
Very yummy meal with friends. We really enjoyed our dinner. Brittany was a great server

Yelp
Solid! Delish. This is very nearby to my in-laws who eat here often and have been raving about it. After a tough day of moving we met here for carb loading with the family at 8pm. They close at 9 but our server was great and we didn't feel rushed at all. It is much more spacious inside than I thought with tons and tons of seating, a huge bar area with a lot of seating and a large back room with additional seating if needed. We tried several dishes and everything was wonderful. My stepdad got the rockfish of the day and loved it, we tried the bolognese and my in-laws got the carpaccio. Many of us got their caprese salad which was fresh and delicious with some very good mozzarella and fresh basil. Large portions for everything too. Easily shareable. We got French press coffee which was fresh and piping hot as well as tiramisu (bc it's my fav). Everything was great and we will be back soon!!!

Dick M.

Yelp
I've been to Bella Italia about a half dozen times since it changed hands a few years ago. It is definitely better under new (Steinhilber's) ownership. I usually sit at the bar, and the service is always spot-on, and the food has never disappointed. Their Osso Buco is delicious, and every appetizer and other entrees I've had there have been really good. It is also reasonably priced for a resort area restaurant.

Christopher R.

Yelp
Needed a nice place for an anniversary dinner and they did not disappoint. Ambiance and quality of the food was outstanding!

Yelp
Reserved a table. Din lighting table cloth setting can be casual to romantic. The fresh bread served with butter, olive oil and vinegar was a great starter. The Pollo Piccata with lemon caper vodka sauce was delectable. Service attire was elegant for the fine dining experience. This place I highly recommend.

Yelp
Service was outstanding. Food and atmosphere were terrific. Prices were very reasonable. Great spot for date night!. Did not realize that La Bella was associated with Steinhilbers, another of our favorite restaurants. We will definitely be dining at La Bella again....soon!

Yelp
Wonderful Experience! I tried to order delivery last night online but the delivery was not working due to weather conditions from the snow, so I called the restaurant. Joe, who answered, was very helpful, friendly and let me know the manager offered to deliver the food himself. I ordered the veal mushroom ravioli and it was absolutely delicious. Very sweet of the manager to drive the food over himself and definitely deserves 5 stars for the service and quality of the food!

Bob J.

Yelp
Very nice place. They were playing Christmas music. Not a busy night so service was good. The bread was warm out of the oven, and came with olive oil and basalmic vinegar but no setup (cheeze, herbs) to dip. No presentation. Unfortunately we tried this place as I was looking for good, hot Italian sausage and good spaghetti. No hot sausage. The "sausage" looked and tasted like meatballs. The pasta looked like it had been soaked in marinara sauce overnight. I think the sauce should have been on fresh pasta. This was the way it was made at the other table. My wife had the seafood but clams were tiny and all fell out of the shells. She had to hunt for them in the pasta. Shrimp was very large. Overall, the best of the two meals.

Peter P.

Yelp
Food: delicious and authentic! Service: excellent and attentive! Ambiance: perfect for an Italian restaurant. La Bella is one of our go-to favorites.
google avatar

Ed S.

Yelp
The food is always, always top shelf with portion sizes that make my eyes look bigger than my stomach! I haven't had anything but great service, Rhiannon is a favorite and the kitchen is on point every time. The focaccia is an excellent appetizer, but you better be hungry. Bread was served as well. I had the carbonara last visit, traditional and delicious. I like a good meat ball and they come large and sweet. Excellent Caesar salad with a nice umami, enhancing the cheese and dressing with sardines. (Just two, don't freak - they don't dominate the salad.) The ambience is quiet and low key, casual dress- no worries about under-dressing.

Prissi C.

Yelp
Our dinner was perfect. The food was authentic Italian (I spent a month there) & the owner & our server David made our experience one we will never forget. I look forward to our next fine dining experience again. Thanks so much

Yelp
This place doesn't look like much from the outside, in a small strip plaza, but it was very nice inside! It was classic Italian small restaurant inside, semi formal, some people were in nice suits, other people were in T-shirt's and shorts! The vibe was friendly and welcoming! My husband and 2 year old son loved dinner! We started with a caprese! It was very fresh and light. I had a very good rigatoni bolognese! It was very flavorful! It was the perfect amount of food, generous portion! My husband tried the beer special that was recommended, it was nice! He tried the chicken Marsala, and it must have been good, bc I never got a bite! Overall a very good experience! The only weird thing I noticed was there was NO bread provided! A bread to sop up the rest of my meat sauce would have been great.

Yelp
ordered delivery to try out this restaurant, order arrived early through door dash. I noticed a dessert was missing so I called the restaurant really adding I would be offered a refund for the item. To my surprise they sent someone who I would assume was a manager to bring the dessert. they went above and beyond. also the food was so delicious! the location is super close to home and we will definitely be dining in!!

Deborah N.

Yelp
Went to celebrate a 70th birthday. Ambiance , service and the food was excellent. Can't wait to go back!

Kim W.

Yelp
I remember now why we stopped going here. Last night the Food was very mid. Prices are up. Honestly my favorite dish (fusilli ala vodka which used to be penne ala vodka)has changed in last year and tasted like Campbell's tomato soup and the shrimp were overcooked and only 4 in entire dish for 27$. My husbands carbonara was bland. Ceasar was good. Service was on slow side and waitress was unenthusiastic. Our 4 guests felt the same way.

Jim S.

Yelp
Great food and service! We love our local to the neighborhood Italian restaurant. Reminds us of NJ Italian restaurants.

Yelp
Took a chance on this Italian restaurant while at the beach for my birthday weekend. I have passed it many times, so why not give it a try. I felt a bit underdressed when we walked in, the lights were dimmed and there were cloth tablecloths and lit candles on tables, we were even asked if we had a reservation. But, once seated, I saw a few others who were dressed down (it was very chilly out and i had ended up buying and wearing a sweatshirt). Our waiter, Hunter, who had seated us, brought us in stages; water, bread, olive oil, he took our drink orders, and Mike ordered calamari. It took forever for Hunter to take our actual dinner order. By the time we finished our meal, Hunter had thanked us at least three times for our patience. Unfortunately he never brought us the additional bread we had requested and he got a little snarky with me when we declined dessert. This is a pretty classy restaurant, and my lasagna was delicious. Mike enjoyed his calamari and said his chicken parmigiana was just about average, but the side of pasta tasted farm to table fresh and delicious. I only just felt kinda annoyed by the time we left and therefore I'm not sure I would go back. I enjoyed my view of the hardworking chef and cooks, our service was just lacking and disorganized.

M.E. F.

Yelp
Excellent service and great traditional Italian dishes. I hear their pizza is excellent. Highly recommend the eggplant parmigiana as well as the chicken.

Annie D.

Yelp
The food is delicious and the service is great. Ambiance is quite nice also. There is pasta dish that I can not pronounce the name of, but it is the second one listed under pasta's on the new menu. None of the online menus have it listed.

Mark W.

Yelp
La Bella Italia in Laskins has been a staple in VB for many years. Excellent food prepared by a very good chef, always good service, and the best bartender (Joe!) anywhere, combined with a charming atmosphere makes for a great culinary experience every time.

Tim S.

Yelp
We were here on vacation having coffee and an older gentleman suggested La Bella and we decided to go and had a great experience the food the service the taste everything was top-notch and would recommend you go there you will not be disappointed especially the shrimp

Yelp
Ordered dinner here tonight and it was fast and delicious. My chicken parm did have too much breading but great flavor and the pasta was amazing. I was inspired to write this review because I saw another potential guest, K.W. (A habitual negative yelper) write that he saw the negative review below where a customer, Rebekah, complained about the hostess making her wait OVER FIVE MINUTES for a table (GASP!!!) and then her table wasn't good enough so she left. He said the owner "argued back" by defending his employee. So this individual, KW, decided to leave a baseless 1 star review and not dine here because of that. Didn't even know you could leave negative reviews without trying the food, but BOTH of these people did. Anyway, I wanted to say that I saw the business owners response and its the reason that I DID order from here. It's 2022 and the customer is NOT always right. There's nothing better to me than a business owner defending their employees. The Karens in the world often lack common sense, respect and patience, but for some reason, the one thing they never seem to lack, is the audacity! But the good news is that I'm sure this business will be just fine without his $40 meal or rebekahs 3 kids fettuccine alfredos I feel bad for you KW, out of the 39 reviews you've written, 30 of them were 1 or 2 stars. Seeing everything though such a negative lense must make life pretty miserable. I think talking to a therapist may be more productive than leaving negative Yelp reviews about local small businesses.

Lori B.

Yelp
Food was delicious , felt very very rushed. We ordered drinks and apps and meals. As we were eating our apps the meals came out and wet were not even finished with apps. We were not able to enjoy our drinks and foods due to being rushed. We will try it again but now we know not to order so close together.

Ladd W.

Yelp
We made this reservation last minute, having never been before, and it was a superb decision! The atmosphere was genuine, the service (David) was excellent, and the food (Lasagna and Carbonara entrees) and accompanying bottle of red (Montevento de Montepulciano d' Abbruzzo) were incredible! This is a gem, and we can't believe we had driven past it for years...we'll be back!!

Katherine M.

Yelp
I ate here with my family last night, a party of 8. We had to send 2 meals back because the cheese was cooked so well done it was hard as a rock. I ordered clams in a white wine sauce with linguine, which tasted kind of bland and the clams were smaller than bottle necks. Well let's just say no one was impressed with their food and it was not cheap. To top it off this morning I wound up getting sick. I have not thrown up in over 10 years. I will never eat here again. I suggest you pass on the clams if you do.

Yelp
I WILL ABSOLUTELY GIVE THE FOOD A 5! HIGHER IF I CAN! The sauce tastes like Italian Grandma is back in the kitchen getting ready for her weekly Sunday get together! I've NEVER tasted a better sauce than their's! I wish I knew how Grandma La Bella made it! As for the place itself....Well, it's not a bad place, but certainly could use a good cleaning. The blinds were FULL of dust. I also dropped my cloth napkin on the floor and picked it up to find a filthy napkin....It was full of dirt just from one drop on the floor. Server was a really sweet young girl, but wasn't a good waitress. She forgot so many things that she said she was going to get for us. I would imagine this is most likely a new hire as in many places. Growing pains. I ABSOLUTELY FORGIVE THEM FOR THEIR FAULTS .....AS I THINK I'D OVERLOOK A LOT TO GET ANOTHER PLATE OF THEIR FOOD!
google avatar

Margarita H.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful food, ambiance and service!! Super nice vibe... the artichoke appetizer and avocado foccacia were incredible... ( sizeable!). The veal parm melts in your mouth. Service was super! Their homemade pommodoro sauce is outstanding... New ownership with all the old recipes and cooks. Give it a try, you will not regret it. Definitely better than Aldo's & Mannino's for what you pay!!!!

Anneliese B.

Yelp
I really liked to atmosphere when I walked in. We were treating friends and randomly picked this place. The food was good and so was the wine. What was lacking was the service. Our waitress seemed indifferent. We had to remind her to bring bread- our drinks-- that was disappointing. But with that said I'd go back because the food was good and it's a cute place. Oh, don't order dessert. The cannoli is the size of your pinky and the coconut cake tasted store bought. It was ehhhhh!

Vernon P.

Yelp
Took my wife there to celebrate her birthday, the food was absolutely spectacular...the staff was highly attentive, and efficient, comfortable Atmosphere, quiet conversations...

Yelp
Staying on the beach for Easter weekend wife picked out this nice Italian joint with good reviews. We made a reservation but didn't need it. (It was Easter weekend though). We had a nice waitress that just had a baby a few moths ago. I can't remember her name for the life of me. The waiter for the other tables name Jonathan was loud at first but we didn't mind it at all. Come to find out he was really nice and a really good waiter! Recommend things pushing the specials. Very pleased with the waitstaff. As far as the food. We ordered the caprasi salad. Our little guy approved and devoured it in minutes. Only complaint I have was I would like to see the dressing over the top instead of under everything. Delicious non the less. I ordered the chicken marasala. Very tasty. Wife had the beef Boloinase. Very tasty as well. Highly recommend!

Tori B.

Yelp
This was my first visit but it won't be my last! Excellent wine list. Started with wood fired focaccia bread, delicious! We decided to split the Grilled Watermelon salad. It was outstanding with juicy sweet pieces of grilled melon. My entree was the Spaghetti con Polpette, hubby ordered Chicken Picatta. They both were amazing. We eat at Aldo's, Venuto, Maninnos, etc and this was just as great! Service was excellent. See our pictures. Go there!

Yelp
Nice little restaurant close to Virginia Beach. This restaurant has a large wine/drink menu. Guests are served amazing homemade bread with butter and oils. Friendly staff. Very clean. Will return.

Marilyn A.

Yelp
The food was delicious. They were busy the night we visited, but our needs were taken care of. Love this restaurant.

Vincent R.

Yelp
Great authentic Italian. Our waitress made the experience for us. The bartender was very talented. The food was exceptional. I did not know that they were associated with Steinhilbers, and I appreciated getting the famous fried shrimp in addition to the Italian cuisine. A must go to restaurant.
google avatar

Morgan M.

Yelp
Great restaurant. Used to work here as a young man. The family that owns this place is authentically Italian and it shows in the caliber of their food and service. The wood fired pizza is always A+... hoping everyone is doing well back at La Bella!

Mary A.

Yelp
I think New Year's Eve was a bad night to try this restaurant for the first time. We ordered egg plant parm and although it looked good, it was tough and burnt. Salads were very good and bread was excellent. Our server was wonderful as well. We just moved in to the area and will give another chance. Entrees at other tables looked very good, so perhaps we ordered the wrong dish? They were very busy, so will return for another try.

Yelp
Great service great food. Focaccia bread comes out of the oven looking like pizza and was amazing. I got Chicken parm that vas very good. Waiter was always on the ball. Nice evening out
