Montreal’s Best Bakeries for Bread - Eater Montreal

"The baguettes are close to perfection at these bakeries/restaurants/grocery stores from Marc-André Royal with locations in Ahuntsic, Griffintown and Laval. Loaves, like the fougasse, multigrain, and levain, are also not to be missed." - Mallory Frayn, Erinn Blicher

The Best Restaurants in Griffintown, Montreal | Eater Montreal

"There aren’t a ton of options for great bread in Griffintown, but with this outpost of Marc-André Royal’s Ahuntsic bakery La Bête à Pain, locals arguably have everything they need. You can stop by to grab a loaf to take home to eat with cheese or toast up for breakfast, or stop to eat in for brunch or lunch." - Holly Tousignant

14 Great Montreal Bakeries Open During the Coronavirus Crisis - Eater Montreal

"All three locations of chef Marc-André Royal’s excellent bakery are open at the moment: Griffintown, Ahuntsic, and Laval. All of them are baking excellent bread and viennoiseries, as well as ready-to-eat options like sandwiches and soups (courtesy of a bigger kitchen, the Laval location has a larger menu that includes heat-at-home meals). Delivery is an option within a few kilometres of each bakery, and they’re all open from early morning to late afternoon daily (except Griffintown, which is closed Sundays)." - Tim Forster

The Essential Montreal Croissants | Eater Montreal

"La Bête à Pain, from the owners of fine French bistro Le St-Urbain, is reason for a morning detour. The bakery supplies the neighbourhood with all the essentials: breads, pastries, cakes, prepared meals, weekend brunch, and, natch, fresh croissants. Soon to expand with a second, gargantuan space in Griffintown." - Heather Vandenengel

Highly recommend this bakery! Very good customer service and assistance, friendly and respectful staff, reasonable prices, lot of choice, very tasty, fresh food! From bread (and specialized types) to fine pastries, croissants, cookies, homemade sandwiches, cold meat, wine, pasta,.. something for everyone! The homemade chocolate chips cookies are to die for! 😁🙌🏽🍪 Clean place, always a good experience! ♿️ Wheelchair accessible [exit by the entrance for the ramp].

They offer a good variety of breads and pastries. Their almond chocolatine is a delight, highly recommended. At least in fall and winter, they did not have a dine in option. Also their sandwich selection was limited. It would be a game changer if they added more options.

I love the Paris brest! It is the most delicious puff or even dessert I’ve ever had. The salty flavor cream is outstanding in a sweet dessert which gives me incredible impression. The only drawback of this pastry is that it is far away from my home.

Wonderful bakery shop. You will find all fresh pastries and they also serve sandwiches, quiches for quick bite. Their almond croissant is well known for. A place must check out!

Had brunch here. The eggs were okay. The pancakes were dry, the fench toast is way overpriced for a single slice, and the topping was horrible. The rösti is not even rösti, it's just a big hash brown. The bakery is the reason you should go here. The croissants are okay, but the carré au lait, the cookies, and the lemon meringue tart are well worth it.

The word "Bête" is quite accurate here. With many delicious treats to choose from we decided on one of our favourites - lemon meringue. A very fluffy yet creamy almost marshmallow-y meringue covers a refreshing lemon filling that is just the perfect balance between sweet and sour ; all supported by a solid yet crumbly crust that made this beast a lovely evening dessert.
