La Bodega Mexican Restaurant & Bar

I am always enthusiastic about TexMex! It’s my comfort food and I love supporting local businesses. We started with chips & salsa and cokes. I had the La bodega Special plate and my lunch partner had beef burritos with red sauce on the side. The food tasted great and wasn’t too spicy…in other words just spicy enough for us white people! The ladies that run the restaurant are so nice and treat everyone well. We didn’t have to wait long for our piping hot food, but then again we are old farts and eat lunch/dinner at 3:30 in the afternoon. I’ve had lunch here during the work week, when the restaurant is full, and service was still timely. It’s a comfortable place, casual, and a great place to say Hi to other diners and have some nice conversations.

This is definitely a gem of a place, the food was absolutely delicious I highly recommend their spinach enchiladas with sour cream sauce, the waitstaff was patience, attentive, and so pleasant. We were seated in the indoor terrarium room and it was a nice experience outdoors without the bugs, and cool ac. 10/10 highly recommend

This is a wonderful place to enjoy some Tex-Mex food and drinks with friends or family. Wonderful spacious atmosphere thats casual and airy. Great place to eat if you have a large group! Menu has plenty of options and everything is good. Nothing wild or too fancy. Just good old Tex-Mex. You should leave here with a full belly and a smile, especially if you have a group to enjoy it with!

Nice place, service was decent. We had to wait for our drinks and it wasn't busy. We had two waitress and they were both looked like they didn't want to be there. The margarita swirl was our least favorite drink.

The food has plenty of flavor and the portion size is just right! Seems like 6pm is when a lot more people show up for dinner so I recommend going just a little bit before that. Chicken Enchiladas plate on the left & The Mexican Plate Special is on the right. Chips and salsa are provided as soon as you sit down. Music is playing, but not at a loud volume so you can enjoy a conversation and background music at the same time.

Food had most definitely gone down hill. We had a good server he was very nice. Pina colada drink came in a regular tea cup tasting waterd down and old . Not worth the money.

Wow! Both the ambiance and food are spectacular. Authentic Mexican food for sure. The corn they use is like in Mexico-just amazing and packed full of flavor. The taquitos of beef fajita are packed with flavor and very tasty. The charro beans that come with the meal are out of this world. The flautas remind me of the rolled tacos from California. They were amazing and super flavorful. Service was impeccable. We arrived before some large groups but service didn’t disappoint.

My friend and I went to Labodega. My friend goes into La bodega a lot in person. The waitress recognized my friend so she offered to refill my friends drink and gave me zero service. I still left a 25% tip but the fajita quesadilla meat was old and my order was wrong. The laugh out loud is, I frequent La bodega a lot too, it is through pickup. They were my favorite because of the nachos. But after today, I will order fresh quesadillas from elsewhere or cook at home (easy fix). Furthermore, being a waitress means good customer service across the board. Not being a table fly to one customer because they gave you a good tip”the other day”.

"ZIT" My wife and I have been eating at La Bodega since the first one opened in Midland . It was many years ago. We ate at the one in Odessa when it first opened and have been there many many times. Usually very good food and good service. We were always seated in the main dining room and for some reason tonight with a lot of empty tables, we were seated in the back room with a wall full of mirrors. Service was OK when we were waiting for a ticket to pay out. I had to get up and go ask the waitress if she could get our ticket because she was busy talking to two other employees. The big issue was it while we were waiting on a ticket two other young girls on the wait staff came over and cleaned up a table next to the mirror wall. As one was cleaning up the table the other one kept looking at herself in the mirror and proceeded to pop a pimple while I'm sitting there watching. I did not tell my wife because I know how she would've reacted. We will definitely go back, but I really hope we don't witness. Someone else popping a "ZIT" in front of their customers.

My #1 spot when I come home! I always have to get the supreme nachos with no beans. I love this place.

I ordered from door dash and the food came quick and hot. I got large cheese enchiladas with verde and a single taco. The taco was great. It had perfect amount of ingredients and not greasy like some are. The enchiladas were good but wasn't a huge fan of the verde sauce as it was sweet. I'd give a 5 out of 10 for it. The rice and beans were normal rice and beans. Would I order again from here yes. Just wouldn't get verde sauce.

DONT GET TAMALES. The tamales were extremely dry on the outside and tasted stale. The rice was no better, it was dry and had no taste to it. The service was bad and took us about a hour and a half to get food. The one thing that was good about the restraunt was the ambiance and it still wasnt that good.

We love La Bodega! Normally!! Today, August 8,2024 was not a good experience I'm sad to say. My husband and I ordered a margarita to go with our lunch. First my husband's was wrong, second they served them in tiny highball glasses, third they were very watered down. So we just ordered a shot of tequila to add to it. No biggie. The shots of tequila were watered down. Still we drank and ate. It happens. I thought I'd address it with the manager when we left. Well that was a mistake. When I requested some understanding on this I was told "It is what it is" followed by a smirk. He never even looked me in the eyes to talk to me. He told my husband "there's no reason to be mad" seriously??? We will not be going back sadly. This has been a lunch spot for us for a while. But no more. Do better!!

I had ordered the nachos to go and when I get to my car to grab a bite I noticed that there was hardly any meat. All they gave me was lettuce, sour cream and jalapeno. I don't recall ordering veggie nachos! Then they have the audacity to charge me to use my own debit card. This place used to be amazing back in day it's not the same anymore.

This review is specifically the ODESSA location. This is how La Bodega is supposed to be. Mr. Munzer is smiling down from heaven on the food and the service. I was happy to see that this location was different from the "other" one, as I was terribly missing my chile rellenos. I was not disappointed at all. The food was HOT and tasty. Service was great. Drinks were great. The whole package was great. I can honestly say that the ODESSA location is the BEST Mexican food in the area (Midland/Odessa). These are eats to drive out of your way for! Get here NOW!

We came in around 4:00 and the restaurant only had a few tables taken. The food was subpar and that's being generous. When ordering the server mailkel did not give options for sauces or types of enchiladas so I had to ask what our options were. he spoke so softly to the point that we had to continually ask him to repeat himself. Truth be told it seemed as though he didn't even want to take care of us. We had to ask about our appetizers which came out after our meal and of course we did pay for them and did not complain to the manager. He never came to clear out plates. The only saving grace for the restaurant was the ambience. I would definitely recommend the patio if you were just doing appetizers and margaritas but don't come with too many expectations (or any) You will just be disappointed.

I was so utterly disappointed with this place. It looked pretty clean when we walked in and the decor was cute and quaint. They serve you chips and Salsa as soon as you sit down - it was pretty good. The gentleman who took our drink orders did not speak a lick of English, which is fine - unless you're taking orders from people who likely won't speak any Spanish. Anyway between my cousin's and my limited Spanish, we ordered our drinks. I had a classic margarita. When I tasted it, it was horrible. It was so syruppy sweet and kind of tasted like kid's cough medicine. I couldn't even try to keep drinking it. I asked them to remake it and was told it was made in a batch and put in some machine that kept mixing it. The next one however was less sweet, so I'm not sure how that happened. Anyway, I ordered the chicken chili relleno. When the plate came, I wasn't sure how to react. It looked like a mess. ZERO plating finesse. The red sauce was very bland which I was so shocked at, seeing as Mexican food is usually very flavorful. Cutting into the batter was just sad. It was so thick and soggy. But the absolute worst part?! The chicken inside the chili. Imagine grilled chicken breast with no seasoning and no color. Yup, that is EXACTLY what was inside that pepper. It wasn't even shredded, just bland like what extreme dieters would eat except a tad dry. I was really hungry so I had just the chicken from deep in there and some of the cheese from the top. I was really grossed out. Needless to say, I won't be back.

The food can be a hit or miss, but lately it has been a hit for us. The Alas de Puerco in the sweet chili sauce are tasty. The Beef Chile Relleno with the raisins and pecans are to die for. The enchiladas are spot on. The atmosphere is a family friendly establishment with an enclosed patio in the back and a full bar upstairs with a sports bar feel. You can also enjoy having a birthday party with cake that you provide. They are easy going!! The staff are friendly and very attentive to your needs as you dine.

Best dang supreme nachos ever anywhere in town as they DO NOT use the liquid cheese that pours out of a metal can - Mexican plates are delicious too - can't go wrong here

We've been in Odessa since last summer and hadn't found a good Mexican place yet. My Dr. recommended LaBodega, so we decided to try it. The salsa is good and spicy, chips were hot and the food was good. Margarita was more than decent and the beer was cold. We'll definitely be back.

I would put no stars but I can't. Service was awful to begin with. Cuban kid came and asked us what we wanted to drink and I could barely hear him. I asked for a horchata and he said no I don't have. Then says you want beer, I said no. Just a horrible attitude to begin with. The food was good, we ate it all. We ordered two tres leches to go, so I got up to leave and pay. When I was leaving my friend stayed behind to order a extra tres leches cake. So I went to pay for our order. The total was $86 on receipt, and when he went to charge me it was $96. I asked why and he said it was a service charge. So I said whatever and I paid and waited for my friend. He came out and they were trying to get him to pay the same total I just had paid. The guy was hesitant that he paid until my friend got loud with him and told him I had already paid. So on top of all that the tres leches was trash, I'm not exaggerating one bit. The bread was dry, the frosting was hard and not tasty. Half of the cake is frosting , no lie. The cream was sticky like mucus. We both threw our cakes away. I promise HEB makes a tres leches 100x better. I been here at least 5 or 6 times in the past 3 years, quality has gone down tremendously.

Great place. Best Chili Relleno! I've been eating there since the 1970's. Excellent salsa.

One of the best Mexican Restaurants in west Texas! Nothing on the menu will disappoint. I highly recommend it!

Sat for 15-20 minutes. No waitress. Asked two different people for chips. No chips no service . Gave up and left. There were four employees bsing at the checkout. I guessed that's why we couldn't get any service.

Starters, they have a drink and chips guy and that's all he does... But just not very well. Place was not that busy, a lot of empty tables and drinks were lacking. Forgot what our drink orders were (with only 5 at the table...smh). We were all starving and the food was just blah! Two of our dishes didn't even come with beans and rice?!?!? The beans that came needed salt and so did the guac. Red sauce on chile rellenos was bland and also came with pecans and raisins on it??? Never had it that way before. Weird. Would not recommend.

Labe Dega is historic landmark in Odessa... For good reason. They are under new management, but don't let that worry you, The food is excellent. You should definitely try the Chile Relleno. And they serve a fantastic sangria swirl! Good food, good people, Great experience

When I tell you , I was not disappointed, the food was amazing ! I had the nacho supreme and it was delicious . My family and I weren't disappointed at all. Customer service was good , people were consistently checking in with us . I highly recommend this place if looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant .

My wife and I are from San Antonio. I'm just up here for work for a while...DO NOT EAT HERE! This place has the worst Tex-Mex I've had in years. I've been to 42 out of 48 of the lower 48, (my wife's been to at least half of that with me) and this place will absolutely go down as "the time we ate at that horrible restaurant in Odessa". -stale tortillas -strips of cheap cut of shoulder steak, could not chew it--masquerading as beef fajitas -stale crispy tacos on Mexican dinner plate -day-old looking guacamole salad -gross

The WORST ! Service sucked, had to get my own menu. Chips were stale, sauce watery, when I mentioned to waiter he continued to argue. What a waste of $50 spent for lunch. Not even worthy of 1 star rating.

Was a really good meal! The chili relleno was amazing! We are trying to stop at local eateries along the way !!! This was a great choice! The outside will fool you! The inside is quaint and comfortable. The salsa is great too

Wonderful enchiladas and stuffed jalapeños. We arrived early before the dinner rush and were seated quickly and the service was excellent.

Our family absolutely loves the Cheese Enchilada with queso. My wife feels these might be her favorite cheese enchiladas ever.

Was doing a food delivery for Door Dash. Nobody was at front desk. Called restaurant from cell phone. Lady named Mary came to front desk & proceeded to yell at me. As a delivery driver we are on a very tight schedule. Will never take a delivery from them again much less step foot into that business. Very poor customer service!

I really like your food,but the last two times the food is not hot.I am not complaining.The shrimp chili reanos are my favorite.I just want the food to be hot.Your service was great.I know with all the Covid bs going on it is harder.Thank y'all.I will be back

I have NEVER had worse service than I did at this restaurant with Veronica. She has no manners, she's rude, she's tacky, I'm guessing she got hired from the clover house next door. This restaurant has a habit of hiring the worst. The service is typically terrible, the food is good, if you can handle the bad service, and the management is beyond sub-par. I would definitely recommend ordering to-go.

Amazing place! Never too long of a wait the salsa is awesome! Green enchiladas are also on point! I'm a athlete and here you do have good choices for a fit lifestyle! Highly recommended for family and social dates.

Nope nope nope nope i decides to go against the previous reviews and give it a shot. I AM NOT a picky eater and am satisfied with my meals 98% of the time. I was very disappointed with this place. It was very bland & Too expensive for what you get. It should all be half the cost. I couldn't even finish my meal. Don't waste your money here.

Had some food on Thursday it was good but asked for the $2 16oz beer special and their freezer was broken and we got 2.50 domestic instead. Good place by the way.

A very nice treat for authentic Mexican food in the Permian Basin when traveling into town for business or pleasure. Our management team thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant and we will be back soon.

I've been coming here for years. Primarily for nachos, taco salad, etc & drinks. I've been overcharged for drinks , but that's a personal opinion. Today, tried the carne asada , which says it is tender pieces of meat in a flavorful tampiqueno sauce. Ok, there were no tender cuts of meat. It was a big hunk of tough meat. There were several mouthfuls of unchewable gristle . Do I recommend this ? No! Never! The tacos, nachos, beers & margaritas are good. This was bad & overpriced!! I was very disappointed!! Thank you

I like this place. The food was great and the wait staff was great. Food was hot and drinks were kept full. I wish they had another location on the east side of town. I'd eat there 2-3 times a week.

La bodega was an amazing restaurant!! We loved everything that was served to us . The waitress was fast and friendly. 10/10 recommended for tourists !

I had the small chili relleno since I heard it was their original recipe. It had raisins and walnuts on top and it was very good. My husband had the chicken enchiladas. He asked for a queso sauce on top and it tasted like the nacho cheese they get out of a can. Overall though the service was great, chips and salsa were good, and the tea was sweet.

I love this place. The chips are always fresh and hot. The salsa is very good. My only no to this place is the red sauce, it's like having spaghetti sauce. But everything else is really good.

Very disappointing food and margaritas! Beef relleno sauce was basically a light tomato sauce. 2stars for large portions

It was ok besides the guacamole. I order a ceviche tostada, a shrimp salad, small order of guacamole, flour tortillas and a water, must say it was a bit expensive. I didn't like the tostada and didn't eat it. The salad was kind of to much with the artichokes in vinegar not the best. Plus the black beans tasted somewhat weird. I was just passing by on my traveling home, so I'm not familiar with the place. The guacamole was good along with the salsa. The flour tortillas were to salty, they left an ugly after taste in my tongue.

I think I am being generous with 2 stars. Bland food, horrible Patron Margarita that tasted like lime juice. Taco shells that were stale, cold taco meat. Sorry but not a great experience.

I love this place, I recently took a trip to Texas to visit family and this was our first stop, I have been talking about the chile rellenos nonstop for months to my boyfriend, we went in and were NOT disappointed. If I were rating the service and atmosphere, I'd probably give this place three stars, but the quality of food is always there and will not let you down. Go here often, order nachos and the beef chile relleno with green sauce instead of red sauce. They have raised their prices quite a bit, but I think they've done it because they know that what they have going is addictive and people will pay for it! Love this place.

Had the beef stacked beef enchiladas with green sauce, very very bland, no seasoning at all. Also had a tall draft beer, no where close to being cold. Not impressed with this restaurant.

I grew up going to La Bodega. Like all restaurants, they have good and bad nights...but their recipes are like no other place in the world. Our most recent visit was today, after a brief shutdown (couldn't keep help) and I'm pleased to say...the food was top notch. La Bodega may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it will always be one of my favorites.

All service in the Odessa Midland Area is awful, we get it. Maybe you could get the staff to keep their hands out of and away from the mouth region before and or after touching my plate? That's fairly disgusting, and the joys of getting to watch the 1 waitress also pick food from her teeth on the way towards me........... Be still mine beating heart. What quality individuals you find in this world. My order was missing about 30% of it's ingredients, and this is all after super lackluster attention beforehand. Why on earth did a manager have to go get my beer (a domestic on special) from the back? I eat in the bar area, where they supposedly serve beer? The only reason I don't rate a simple one star and walk away, my friends food was perfect and they raved about it. As one who frequents this locale over the years I am deeply saddened by tonight's dinner, and sadly dread a return to one of Odessa's staples for Mexican food. Here's hoping you turn it around??!?!!!!!?

After months of missing La Bodega, we had dinner here tonight and let me just say, it is as good as ever! My husband had the Shrimp Compuesta and I had the Chile Relleno with beef. So delicious! and had a swirl to go with it. The perfect supper! Thanks, La Bodega!

The food is not all that. I've eaten at the one in Midland location too and it was not any different. Not sure what kind of style of "mexican" their food is, but I did not care for it.

Always great service, and the food is good as well. I love the beef faj nachos!! The wait staff and servers are great! Great food and great people! They treat you like family.

Very good quality food, even the burgers are great. Service is usually pretty good and the weight isn't usually very long very nice atmosphere
