To be quite honest, we have been enjoying almost all of the tapas and drink stops we’ve been having in Barcelona over the past month. We certainly lack local tapas confidence but have allowed our taste buds to categorise our tapas experiences into two distinct categories- very good and ordinary. La Bodegueta de Cal Pep was at the top of our very good experiences. The service was excellent. The barman even went to the trouble to explain a little more about the food and the stories behind some of the vermouths we tasted. The bar was humble and comfortable and the tapas food was a delight to our taste buds.

Simple but fresh ingredients! Nice little alley tapas/bar place.. sardines were delivered 2 hrs before they were fried up! Owner was super nice and welcoming!

Great atmosphere! Plus they have fresh daily specials. The bravas were excellent but I’d have the sauce on the side (generous). Calamares and sardines were fresh! Empanada crust a little hard and the croquet as excellent. Good and reasonable wine selection. Wonderful owner. We ended staying for a full meal.

For the love of all that is good and holy, you must visit this place no matter where you are staying in Barcelona. Helps if you know a little Spanish or Catalan, but they also had an English menu for cross-reference (my partner speaks a little Spanish and i speak none, but we still made it work with the waiter very well). Service was amazing, cocktails and vermut were unbelievable, and the price was mind-blowing compared to anything you will get in the U.S. with far better quality, and if you order 3-4 appetizers I guarantee you will not leave hungry. Try the croquettes!!! Try the empanadas!!!

Truly the best place ever!!!! My husband and I were looking to experience tapas and vermut. We were blown away by the food and the service. My broken spanish was able to help us order and we truly enjoyed the experience. The croquettes and empanadas were to die for!!! AMAZING!
