15 Iconic Dishes That Define Barcelona - Barcelona - The Infatuation
"The bomba is like a deep-fried mashed potato ball stuffed with spicy ground beef and topped with the same sauces used for patatas bravas. It’s a native of Barceloneta, Barcelona’s former fishermen’s district and now the overtourism epicenter. Two Barceloneta landmarks both claim to have originated this recipe—la Bombeta and La Cova Fumada. People have robust opinions as to which is better, but we’d challenge them to tell the two apart in a blind tasting since there’s only so much you can do with potato, beef, and spice. For something fresher and more 2025-coded, head to Casa Maians, a newer addition to the neighborhood that fast became the local go-to. Here, the bomba is topped with jamón Ibérico and jalapeños for a fresher finish." - isabelle kliger
We didn't have a reservation so we had to wait for 15 mins but thankfully they managed to find a table for 9 on a Saturday night.
We tried bomba, mejillones a la marinera and rambas and bomba was the best imo. Rabas was delicious and had amazing texture. Mejillones a la marinera was good but my boyfriend thinks he had better mussels in İstanbul. The place is authentic overall so would recommend if you want to taste local food. They didn't let us pay separately and after saying that it is a little awkward for us because in italy there's no such pushing generally they made fun of us in Spanish and the staff were not the kindest. We wanted to give a higher star but unfortunately couldn't because of the rude attitude.

La Bombeta del Port is a restaurant on the main avenue of Barceloneta, that leads from the port to the beach.
Eating here is like taking a journey through Catalan cuisine and the waiters are hospitable and guide you on this journey, advising you as best they can.
The speciality of the house is the “Bomba”, which is a must try plat that surprises with its explosion of incredible flavours.
Also try their excellent cocktails, in particular we loved the sangria.

First time dining here and we truly all enjoyed our time. We were a larger table but the service was unique nonetheless, the waiters were patient and efficient. No complaints about the food, big portions and adequately priced! Definitely recommend trying La Bomba!

I expect to eat nice bombeta, but big disappointment. Food taste like reheated on microwave, inside microdose of meat, just look on pictures. Service also not good, old man tired of working, looks like mad on me and my GF because we came there for eat. Sorry but can’t recommend.

Traditional tapas and dishes from barcelona! The bombas are delicious... the prices are correct (not expensive) for the location (barceloneta/ front of the port) ! Very popular both for tuorist but also locals (good sign). Service is very fast.

We only tried two types of tapas - Food was quite good, but the sauce tasted very artificial

Nice place near the beach and port... delicious Sangria at the best price I’ve found in Barcelona. The ARTICHOKES were an absolute hit for me!!! Padron peppers were too salty but otherwise all good... seafood was good too. I recommend it!

My female friend had an accident in the street, her hand had blood and she asked the staff if she could wash it in the sink. The old man that seems to be the owner shouted her that the bathroom is for clients only, and didn't let her speak. So se turned back and in her way outside the old man shouted her "sorry babe" "get out of here babe"
She told him those sexist slurs were unacceptable and he couldn't talk her like that even if he owns the place. It was horrible. She ended up crying of humiliation in the square behind as she cleaned her hand from blood in the fountain.
We actually wanted to eat here after the emergency ended but is obvious we would never put a step inside after all.
