"The city is somewhat overrun by mezcal bars, as the smoky agave-based drink has sky-rocketed in terms of popularity, but La Botica was one of the originals, and continues to support small, independent distilleries, which is why it makes our list. Their mezcals, which they serve neat with orange slices and traditional bar snacks on the side, are sourced from all parts of the country and like serious sommeliers, the staff are all passionate about provenance and tasting notes. It's a good first stop for a long night out, and it's also a great place to get an education on the ever-popular drink."

Tiny - yet happy-making - mezcaleria. There are 4 branches of this tiny mezcaleria (2 in Condesa alone), all of which are *excellent*. The large selection of mezcals encourage experimenting, and the friendly staff happily help you do so. Mind you, if you have no spanish, don't worry, pick stuff at random, and once you find something you like, branch out from there! Oh, I should mention, they have a decent selection of munchies, made in the wee tiny kitchenette behind the bar - and they're all great for soaking up the mezcal :-)

Lovely little bar, great drinks. Our amazing bartender Alejandro was super-nice company, guided us through menu and taught us a lot about Mexico. If i lived in Ciudad I would go there every day :)

Excellent mezcal options and passionate, helpful staff. Cocktail options could be better but if you are looking for mezcal tasting, this is a great option with extremely reasonable pricing and a good variety. Very chill atmosphere as well

Yelp
I wanted to check this place since they specialized in mexcal. We came on a Saturday night and the place was packed with locals which I thought that was a great sign. We were about to leave since there wasn't an empty table for us but the waiter went out of his way to make room for us to sit, which was super nice. I had their version of mojito with Mexcal and it was different but good. M husband try a few mexcals and really enjoy them and my friend had some Mexican beer. If you are looking for a local hang out with a great selection of mexcals then this is the place for you.

Yelp
I came to La Botica with the Sabores Mexico Food Tour. It is TINY spot with 50-60 mezcals. We tried a clear mezcal called Minero, which was quite good and had earthy mineral flavors. The Sortollo de Hierbas Mezcal was next, and I was not a fan. Its darker color was not a problem, but I did not like the medicinal flavors that were similar to anisette. They also made a cocktail with mezcal, lemon and lime, mint, sugar syrup and soda water. They forgot the mezcal in the first one, so they remade it. It was refreshing and delicious. A great local shop that stands behind its product. It is small and dark with teeny tables but a fun spot.

Yelp
extensive list of mezcal, i dont even know where to begin. about 3 beers to choose from also. prices are very cheap! the place is very small, but theres outdoor seats and table also. the service goes above and beyond here, because the waitors will gladly find a seat for you instead of making you wait. the place gets packed, and has music blasting. overall i liked the chill and local vibes. ps. small food menu to choose from too - just snacks.

Yelp
This place is great. It's informal, friendly, and hip! I showed up with my girlfriend and a friend from Mexico city and began slowly sipping on Mezcal. Before I knew a bunch of other people showed up and we were all laughing and singing along with the jukebox which got about 20 decibels louder every thirty minutes or so. The next day I found a lot of new Mexican friends on my friends list. :) The selection of Mezcal is great and the staff know what to recommend. And the little accompanying beers are pretty darn cute. The atmosphere is super fun. You'll stagger out of the place late but with a smile on your face.

Yelp
This is a great place to go and have a few drinks with friends, without spending much and at a casual atmosphere. Mezcales are the thing to drink here: they're very good. You can drink them with beer. They also have a few good Oaxacan snacks. Overall, a great spot to go in Condesa; not pretentious at all and very good mezcal. A bit noisy though.

Yelp
This was a great bar for mezcal! I'm not a big fan of mezcal at all, but the bartender, David, was extremely knowledgeable about it and took the time to recommend drinks and describe what we were tasting. He was very accommodating and attentive without being intrusive. We only went there for mezcal and therefore cannot comment on the food, but we did not have to order anything to eat with our drinks. We walked around looking for other bars, but none were the type you could sit and have a good drink and conversation in. Loved this place!
