So, my husband and I are not particularly fish fans. I do eat fish, including shellfish but he typically only eats shellfish or sushi type raw fish. But, we were in Provence, we like to eat specialities of the local region wherever we go, and bouilliabasse is a specialty of the region. Our hosts highly recommended La Bouillabaisse. You have to order the bouilliabaisse 24 hours in advance, which we didn't know until we got there. And, the restaurant was fully booked for that evening. We also didn't realize that reservations were a must on a weekend evening even in September.
We came back for dinner Monday night. By then, we were getting cold feet and wondering if we'd made a mistake in ordering the meal. But, we went through with it and are both glad we did! The broth, not a tomato base as we'd expected, was deliciously seasoned, the fish, a large selection of shellfish and fish, perfectly cooked. Nothing had a "fishiness" smell or taste as all of the ingredients were as fresh as could be and truly delicious! I wouldn't make a general statement that this restaurant is good for children but the staff was helpful and atttentive including to our toddler, who eats a variety of food and enjoyed the bouillabaisse.
