The waiter was amazing, and the food was incredible. To top it off, we were dining on the Grand Palace, enjoying the beautiful view. Highly recommended the warm goat salad and of course their burgers.

These guys were able to provide the entire upstairs room for my event of 30 people and it was perfect. Aesthetic and comfort was great as the room overlooks the grand place and is Belgian cosy and warm. Staff did table service and are very positive and welcoming people. As a function space at the best location, this might be the best hidden gem in the city. Many thanks for the great night.

The weather was extremely cold, so we sat down and ordered hot chocolate and cappuccino. The taste was somewhat decent, but the café’s strategic location right on the square makes up for it.

Google
This place has a wonderful atmosphere akin to a local pub. The food is wonderful. I got the waffle and the ham and cheese omelet. The omolet was cooked perfectly and the ham was so delicious. The waffle was very sweet and tasty even without any syrup. The server was very nice. He spoke good English and made me laugh quite a bit. I would highly recommend this for a breakfast spot.

We had a pleasant experience eating here today. We mostly ordered burgers, juice, and croquettes, and everything was delicious. The attention from the personal was great and they even knew Spanish. Recommended.

Nice place with a view on Grand Palace. Nice place to chill before sightseeing in the morning.

Yelp
Took the Hungry Mary beer & chocolate tour and La Brouette Tavern was one of my highly anticipated stops located in the Brussels historic Grand-Place square. Traditional dark wood decor created a cozy atmosphere with a wooden staircase leading to the second floor where the feast was awaiting. The room had windows viewing 180 degrees into the square for the perfect beer pics. The tender meat and aeromatic cheese squares were the perfect complement to thick pieces of bread. Two totally different beers were introduced and described for consumption which included the Delta IPA and the Golden Carolus Tripel. Both beers were light and refreshing, although after devouring an entire plate of cheese and bread, my belt buckle was about to snap. Cool old style bar within steps of three hundred plus years of Brussels history.

Yelp
Delicious food, small sample portions to try. Friendly service. Location. And burgers. Quite a few amazing burger options right next to the central palace.

Yelp
Meeehhhhhh. It gets 2 stars because of the stellar location. Great view Of the square. It was otherwise so underwhelming. We stopped in for a coffee and a bite. I wanted a flat white but the waiter didn't know what that was. So I ordered a cappuccino. For food we got a croissant and some toast and bacon. The coffee and food came out quickly, which was nice. But my cappuccino was....not good. If I had to guess it came out of a machine and was not hand prepared. There was almost no foam. The toast? Only toasted on one side. That was kinda odd. When we were done eating we had to request the check three times. We had to walk inside twice to talk to him because he hadn't come out in so long. As we were putting money on the table to simply leave, he came by. Overall, I wouldn't want to have another coffee here - but maybe a beer if I can get a good table to people watch.

Yelp
We came here mostly for the view and it didn't disappoint! I tried the Belgium sampler, which was a great way to get my feet wet with Belgium cuisine. I will definitely be trying the beef stew and meatballs elsewhere. The chicken dish isn't something that I'd order elsewhere. All in all, a good first stop in Brussels!

Yelp
While staying nearby with friends for a few days, we found this was one of the few places open very early that we can have a nice breakfast before going on a tour. Prices are reasonable, food is good and the service was quick and pleasant.

Yelp
Great place to have breakfast. Being able to sit in the plaza is a great people-watching experience. The food was good nothing to write home about, but it is worth a visit just for the location. The waitstaff was overwhelmed on a weekday morning. It gets pretty busy around 10:30 am in the morning. They do allow smoking outside which isn't ideal for a nice dining experience.

Yelp
Nice location, food is good, service is lousy. I called to book, should have suspected when they didn't take my name. No table was booked, of course. Getting a waiter's attention is a challenge, when they do come, they are nice enough, mostly in French.

Yelp
Food: 5 stars. Waiter who trapped us into tipping: 1 star. We were stunned when he asked if we wanted to leave a tip. He knew we were Americans and hubby said "yes" automatically. You don't tip in Brussels. We were definitely taken. Be prepared. Had the lamb (amazing) served with stoemp and hubby had the pork ham shank. Beautiful setting, we were there when the lights were turned on.

Yelp
This place is in a great location. I expect it would be even better to visit in summer when you could sit outside and enjoy the beauty of the Grand Place while people watching. Since we visited in November we opted to sit inside instead. Inside it was busy, we just about managed to get a table. We were really only there for a hot drink to warm up while we planned our day, so we didn't mind the squeeze too much. What was kind of rubbish was the service. We sat for age before anyone acknowledged us, but when my partner went up to the bar, thinking maybe they didn't do table service, he got sent back to his seat. Eventually, after a very long wait, we managed to get a couple of passable hot chocolates. I don't know whether it's always like this but I'm not sure I'd come again, unless it looked a lot quieter. Given it's location, though, I'd be surprised if it's ever quiet.

Yelp
We arrived here on a cool, rainy Saturday after a very hot Tomorrowland Music Festival the day before, so the rain and cool temperatures were welcome. This place is quaint and due to the fact that it was cooler outside the window we were seated next to was open, which was nice. Our party of three arrived a few minutes before the rest of our party of four arrived, total of seven. The three of us decided to order as we waited for everyone else. They arrived about ten minutes after us and then placed their order. Some of us just had drinks and some of us ordered food. I had the club sandwich. It was very bland and dry even with the added mayo, but the espresso that I had with it was excellent. Hamburgers were also very good. However the hamburger on the second order never came, but the waiter arrived with the check anyway. When we asked him about the second hamburger he said "oh, I forgot"! We said "never mind then". The second problem was there was only one check. When we asked him to split it he refused, got rude and then just walked off! Well if tourists are your business you really should think about catering to them instead of ticking them off. Just sayin'.

Yelp
The location is the real selling point of this place. Sit in the window and you can soak up the magnificence of the Grand Place while you eat. Food here was pretty solid, not mind blowing michelin star cuisine but not shabby either. I was a little disconcerted by how quickly my food arrived after ordering it, it didn't seem possible that it had been made to order but it tasted good so no big deal. Our waiter wasn't the most attentive I've ever encountered. I asked for a 500ml glass of beer and was given 330ml, when I questioned this he simply told me he had plenty more he could get me should I so desire. However, when it came to bill time he had managed to find the button on the till for a 500ml glass! An oversight I'm sure, it was soon rectified.

Yelp
I can't speak for the food, but this is a great place to grab a Trappist ale and watch the crowds wander around through Grand Place. Most beers are under 5€ for 0.33 cl, which is about average in the city center. Service is quick for European standards.

Yelp
4 stars for the food. 0 stars for the African American waitress with the braids because she neglected to attend to us. i asked her for the check two times and she wouldn't give it to us because she wasn't our waitress. our waiter was talking to a customer for 30 mins. we didn't get a check for like an hour

Yelp
Not to be mistaken for a tourist trap, great food, charming interior and wonderful view. Get one of the traditional dishes - mussels or stew - and chat up the owner at the bar some quick history and background.

Erik R.

Yelp
Would do no star but have to leave something on the screen. Well, we walked in and no one greeted us at all the entire time. We were there for 10 minutes reviewing the menus provided on the table. We didn't know if it was self seating or if they assign you a table, but because they didn't acknowledge us AT ALL, we sat at a table inside. Both the waitress and the waiter passed us multiple times and did not even take a look at us, ignoring our presence. My friend managed to get one server to say hello to us, but we were still not provided service. We sat there 20 minutes in total waiting for someone, attempting to flag someone down. After some time we decided to get up and leave. We even noticed they refused to allow a couple of little girls to use the restroom.

Yelp
Stopped at this very touristy cafe on an absolutely gorgeous sunny day in March. I was lucky enough to get some outdoor seating and ordered my must-have-while-in-Belgium moules frites (mussels with french fries). The mussels were huge though they were poorly seasoned and the fries were excellent. I would come back here for more people watching next time in town but the food is better elsewhere.

Yelp
Wonderful service. The omelette was exactly what I wanted. My husband got the ham and cheese sandwich. It came with a waffle, a chocolate croissant, and bread. They have a full bar. Will definitely go back for breakfast next time we are in the neighborhood.

We came here late..around 22.30 and although the place looks really nice and the location is great.the service was really poor !!!no smile and the way they welcomed us was really poor !I won't be back here soon !

Yelp
We came in here on a rainy, cold afternoon which it was perfect for because they have a charming little fire place that just screams cosiness. Nice atmosphere with mix of locals and tourists. Service was quick and correct, nothing exceptional but good. Prices as you can expect around the "grote markt".
