La Buvette

"We wager that this restaurant will quickly become your favourite watering hole. The vintage interior of this former butcher’s shop oozes character and appeal, further enhanced by reasonably priced bistronomic fare. The single set menu overflows with elegant sauces and creative flair." - Michelin Inspector

"Elegant Slow Food at La Buvette in Brussels I’ve had so many great dining experiences in Belgium, it’s hard to choose a favourite. I can say, without reservation, La Buvette is in my top five. La Buvette is warm and classy without feeling overly stuffy or formal. The concept is simple – one menu, 8 courses, drinks optional. The ingredients are local, organic, and seasonal. The food is, without a word of exaggeration, divine. The presentations are artistic and beautiful and the flavour profiles are complex without being confusing. Each and every ingredient shines through. The best part - the menu is €45. Are you making reservations yet? One of the best experiences in Brussels without a doubt. Each course well thought through. The lamb and fish courses were as good as you will get anywhere. Cheese was exceptional. All aspects down the bread with whipped Japanese butter were exceptional. With each plate the server offers an in-depth explanation adding to the overall experience. Service was top notch, nothing was too much trouble. 10/10

This place is hands down one of my favourite places in Brussels ! Service, food, ambience - everything is spectacular. As soon as you enter you are mesmerised by the decor and the place. I couldn’t believe how big it is ! The team working there were very attentive and explained everything with such passion. The food was unbelievable. Everything tasted delicious and was thought through every step of the way with every detail. This is a MUST try trust me :)

Great night with fantastic food and attentive service. Andrea was our main server, and was happy to engage with us beyond providing an explanation of each course. She was charming, polite, knowledgeable and fun. Due to a miscommunication over the booking time (it was pushed back but the message was delivered to another phone so was missed), the manager offered us a complimentary drink which was more than was needed: they had tried to reach us and it was our error. He insisted and the gesture was very much appreciated. For information, the negronis are incredible. Just as a reminder, the food was amazing. Well worth a detour and will eat there again when next in Brussels.

From start to finish, our experience was great. The service was attentive and professional, making us feel truly welcome. The food was not only delicious but also thoughtfully crafted, showcasing the chef’s creativity and expertise. Every dish was a delight, turning our evening into a smooth and memorable dining experience. On top of that, the quality of the cuisine far exceeded the price, making it an excellent value. Highly recommend!

This restaurant has been the highlight of our weekend trip to Brussels. Lovely, kind staff, a brilliant atmosphere (nice but not stuffy - you can relax!) and, of course, EXCELLENT food. Thank you so much to everyone who made last night at La Buvette amazing - we can't stop singing your praises!!

Google
We’ve been to La Buvette several times for a special occasions, excellent service. or just an amazing meal and have never been disappointed. We most recently brought our newly graduated son there for a congratulatory meal. In our haste, we neglected to tell the restaurant of our son’s shellfish allergy. The chef, however, was able to arrange the meal so he was not served shellfish and it was still as excellent as always!

This was a great fine dining find!! A delightful, clever set menu with wine pairing. Every dish was a flavour sensation! My favourite was the lobster. Service was great. Lovely ambience. Location great for us staying in Saint-Gilles. Highly recipe d. Bookings look to be pretty essential.

Yelp
Really really really delicious food. Just so good. And if you can book downstairs there's a great just off the street vibe in a former butchers. You can sit with 4 round the old counter if that's what you're into. I couldn't speak for upstairs. As for the food you just choose how many courses and drinks, the rest is down to the menu that day. I always prefer it that way, no awkward dish-choosing moments. And when it's all so good I would go with the chefs choices above my own anyway. Go try enjoy!

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere, very good and very interesting food! Interesting flavours with fresh ingredients! Lovely way to spend an evening as the menu includes 7 dishes.... or more! The staff is very nice and they explain everything about the food / ingredients. Very good value for money.

Yelp
For me this restaurant poses a few problems. There are some very good points but for the price there are some issues. To start the beer menu is excellent if a little pricey and there is a reasonable choice of wine. The room is a little spartan, which for us leads to noise issues, with the place full there is a lot ambient noise making conversation a bit of a competition. With deco that includes wobbly tables ( fixed by the waitress) and hard chairs I again don't feel this merits the price. Food wise it's a bit mixed... Some plates are excellent, however some could be said to be rather bland an forgettable. Again for the price and the quantities all the ingredients are rather ordinary and basic, no frois gras, no langoustine, no scallops, no truffles. In fact at the end of the meal we couldn't name any dish with what could be considered to include any special ingredients. Out of the 8 dishes I had only about 3 where memorable. Service was ok and not too formal. We never noticed the issue of changing glasses as we stuck with the same wine throughout dinner. Overall the feeling is of somewhere trying a little too hard, a little bit pretentious, a little bit expensive. However a few fixes could bring the place fully up to scatch.

Yelp
Worth going? Yes, so reasonably priced for a tasting menu of that caliber, and excellent wine selection. The highlights of the meet were a delicious opening course, a vegetable medley which was perfect in every way. And then the Pollock fish in ginger and carrot sauce, very savory and well-balanced. The setting is charming and a good place for a group dinner or date night.

Yelp
It was very reasonable price for this high quality food. Seafood appetizer including muscle, scallops and squid was fantastic and foie gras was the best I have ever had. Dessert was refreshing and clever. There are two pre-set menu, large and extra large. Extra large has two more course than large and there is extra charge for the cheese course which was great. Presentation was excellent as well. It takes about 2 and 1/2 hour to 3 hours to complete the course, so make sure you are not in a hurry and have good company. We sat in downstairs after read the Yelp review but upstairs looks fine too except the seats next to the toilet. When I come to Brussels next time, I'll definitely visit this place again.

Yelp
One of Brussel's best places for a great food experience - but here only simple products are used, you'll recognize them all, just taste them differently. Several hours of food & wine pleasure. Be careful though, it's a lot for some delicate bellies.

Yelp
Discovered this restaurant thanks to a tip from a friend. From my point of view was it a golden tip! No nonsense, not to much show. Great and cosy atmosphere, excellent food and great wines. Will definitely go back to this one.

Yelp
I really love this place,it's small and they don't have too many places but if you like food you must be there at least once. They are offering two no choice menus so you don't have to think too much about what you'd wish or not. Of course you can change basic things in the menu i.e. If you don't like fish. But most of the time their menu 9 or 11 services is great and well combined. They also propose great wines

Yelp
If you are looking for a very high end restaurant for an affordable price, this is the place to be. Nice setting (ask to be seated downstairs) and very friendly service! One of my favourites :)

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in Brussels. Every time I go there, I'm pleasantly surprised and it gets better and better. Easy-going service, excellent beer and wine selection and most of all dishes that are worth a Michelin star. Just don't expect a fancy restaurant. The restaurant has simple décor. It used to be a butchery. But I think it just makes it even more special.

Yelp
Gorgeous setting with impeccable service. A delightful evening with each course outdoing the last, although the almost-raw pig's neck was hard to stomach and a disappointment. Cheese selection stunning and superb wine recommendations. Pricey nonetheless but a worthwhile treat now and then.
