Traditional Mexican plates, cocktails, kids' menu, ice cold beer
"Every person who lands in LA wants Mexican food, and your parents are no exception. The 70-year-old Westside staple is the old-school California/Mexican everyone can appreciate: gigantic burritos, fajitas, quesadillas, tacos, plates of meat, and all the unlimited chips and salsa you can handle. The atmosphere is casual and fun (with live mariachi music on the roof), and there’s a bright back patio perfect for soaking up another warm California night. And lots of margaritas." - jess basser sanders, brant cox, brett keating
"La Cabaña is a Westside landmark that dates back to 1963. It’s not the most inventive food in town, but you’re not at this Venice spot for a thoughtful take on the sope. You’re here for the shredded beef quesadilla and the culinary monstrosity that goes by “El Verde Burrito” (a coop’s-worth of chicken, beans, lettuce, avocado, and tomato, all topped with salsa verde and cheese). They have a fantastic back patio, margarita carafes, and sometimes, a mariachi band plays on the roof." - brant cox, garrett snyder, arden shore
"Open since 1963, La Cabaña is a Westside institution serving tableside guacamole and pitchers of margaritas on their back patio. The menu is filled with good dishes, but their culinary masterpiece is the “El Verde Burrito” - it’s filled with a coop’s-worth of chicken, beans, lettuce, avocado, and tomato, all topped with salsa verde and cheese and is a must-order that can easily feed two people. La Cabana is open daily from 11am-11pm, reservations are encouraged." - brant cox
"There are a number of restaurants offering margaritas to-go right now, but La Cabana in Venice is offering a $22 kit that comes with all the traditional ingredients, plus a shaker that you get to keep forever. Quarantine keepsakes aren’t exactly something we’re looking to get involved with, but we’ll happily make an exception here. Takeout and delivery is available on most major apps." - brant cox
"This fun Venice spot is a great place when you’re meeting your cousin and his family of six. La Cabaña’s patio is perfect for big groups, with enough space for the adults to get drunk on deadly margaritas while the kids gawk at the mariachi band. Be sure to order the tableside guacamole - it’s some of the best in town - and the chicken enchilada platter. Most of the food isn’t going to blow you away, but at least your cousin’s picky kids will eat it." - brett keating
