Where To Eat On The Near Main Line - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"It’s fitting that La Cabra translates to “the goat,” because this Bryn Mawr brew pub is the GOAT of barbecue on the near main line. We especially love the barbecued chicken, ribs, and collard greens. Try to go on a Wednesday, the only night they make pizza as well as barbecue. The white pie with pulled pork is the best-of-both-worlds for a date night while sampling beers at the bar or mid-week takeout." - jonathan deutsch

La Cabra Brewing Smokehouse - Review - Bryn Mawr - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Sure, we get that recommending the best barbecue joint in the Philadelphia suburbs is like recommending the best Philly cheesesteak in Des Moines. But La Cabra in Bryn Mawr has legit barbecue smoked in-house, served alongside eleven of their own beers from their nearby Berwyn brewpub, along with cider and rotating draft cocktails. The result is a casual restaurant with scratch-made components down to the barbecue sauces that works for a family night out, date night at the bar, or happy hour with friends. While the menu is large, the meats that are touched by the smoker are the must-orders. Ribs that hold their shape but pull effortlessly off the bone and brisket glistening with fat are the promising signs of the real barbecue you’ll find here. Sides like the baked beans, which seem to be equal parts shredded pork and beans, reinforces the smoked-meat sweet spot. Perhaps the only better menu item than the barbecue is La Cabra’s 36-hour sourdough pizza, available only on Wednesdays. Keep in mind that La Cabra doesn’t take reservations and can fill up quickly during the dinner rush on weekends, so going for lunch or linner is the move. That leaves your evening open for meat sweats. Food Rundown Dark Bier La Cabra offers a wide variety of styles of beer. Most are familiar and straightforward like their cleverly named Hipster Catnip or Philly Adjacent IPAs. If you are a hophead, you can’t go wrong with these, but the beer-savvy move is to try some of their less mainstream brews like the Notturno, a Belgian Quadrupel with 11% alcohol or their Schwarzbier, the refreshing black lager that looks much heavier than it drinks. Sticky Ribs Three perfectly meaty and tender baby back ribs come with a Korean barbecue-inspired sauce that is more soy than gochujang. They come out on a crock of sizzling garlic polenta to soak up the sauce, making this a great shareable or light entree on its own. Italian polenta and Korean ribs? Don’t think, just eat. photo credit: La Cabra Crowd Pleaser The only drawback to good barbecue is choosing among chicken, pork, and brisket if you’re not with a group big enough to get them all to share. Fortunately, the crowd pleaser entree solves that problem–it comes with a smoked chicken wing, pulled pork, brisket, coleslaw, pickles and both sweet heat and pit sauces. Its name is apt–while priced inline with the other entrees at $27, our small group shared it and still took some home. The sleeper hit was the chicken with crisp skin and an abundant dry rub that had coming back for a whole bird. Brisket Chopped Cheese The chopped cheese sandwich is a marvel of the NYC bodega. The only way to improve it might possibly be to substitute barbecue brisket for the traditional ground beef. And La Cabra does. This one could have benefitted from more cheese but is definitely an improvement over the corner store version. Pro tip: add a dash of the sweet heat sauce. Signature Mac and Cheese The move at La Cabra is to top your cavatappi and cheese with bacon, chiles or onion straws, or go big with toppings like buffalo chicken, brisket, pulled pork, or sausage and barbecue sauce. Whatever you do, top it with something because on its own, it’s an under seasoned side dish best suited for a kids’ menu. Get the collard greens instead. White Pizza Charred chewy perfection of a pizza, it’s almost unfair that one of the best barbecue spots in the Philly suburbs is also one of the best pizzerias. But they only do pizza on Wednesdays so plan accordingly." - Jonathan Deutsch

We got La Cabra catering for a 60 person birthday party at our house and it was the best decision we could’ve made. The food was the star of the show, all our guests kept complimenting the quality of the bbq including some of our friends from the South (rare to get a southerner to compliment bbq up here!) We got the smoked chicken, brisket, burnt ends, pulled pork, mac and cheese, cornbread, cole slaw, and salad, plus a bunch of different sauces. Dan and his team went above and beyond to be accommodating and helpful from the ordering process all the way to delivery and set up. It was easy and well worth the money! 10/10 would recommend for catering!

Google
An absolute treat to have this in the area. Got the burnt ends and smoked chicken wings with buffalo, ranch, and the sweet heat sauces. Sweet heat sauce is my favorite, a perfect balance between sweet and spicy. Service was great, atmosphere was awesome. Can’t wait to come back to try out the happy hour.

We absolutely love this place. The food is amazing and the service is excellent. Try the nachos, I promise u will not be disappointed. The half size is plenty big enough to share! My husband got the special which was a brisket cheesesteak and the beer cheese on it was amazing!

Different Cheesesteak #1259. I am trying to enjoy the finer things in life. La Cabra Brewing Smokehouse is one of the places you can do that. I got the Brisket Chopped Cheese. Roll, meat, and cheese, it’s a cheesesteak. It’s not going to win any cheesesteak contest, but this was a great stop. Friendly, professional bartender. Bar and table seating. The Brisket Chopped Cheese comes on a very nicely made and toasted seeded roll. The meat was very good. It may have been better in a pile and eaten with a fork. It came with cole slaw and spicy aioli. They added a ton of great flavor. I liked my beer. I considered getting a second one. The guy next to me told me he liked my shirt, so he won a t-shirt. Funny side bar, his wife was across the street at the hospital in labor while he was at the bar drinking beer and winning a t-shirt.

Google
Blew my expectations away! I thought that either the food or the beer would be good, but one bad. The (house) beer was good and the food was crazy good! The appetizer nachos had a cheese/salsa mix that was unique and delicious. Moist, fall-of-the-bone brisket may have been the best I've ever tasted. The service was completely attentive. I'll be back soon to try the burnt ends and smoked wings.

Google
This is one of my favorite places to eat when I'm in the area traveling for work. Over a few visits, I've tried: - Alabama Slamma - Brisket Mac & Cheese - Burnt Ends - Hot Chicken - Brisket Chopped Cheese You can't go wrong here. Everything is delicious. The one thing I have to get every time are the burnt ends. I could get these alone for my meal, but there are other great things to try. The only thing I don't like is that they aren't open on Mondays since that's when I'm usually in the area.

Google
The food trends towards spicy. That said everything was delicious. The #1 was the Brisket dip. I would recommend Banh Mi. Mac and cheese was a hit with the kids. Service was friendly. Casual place.

Google
Let me start by saying the beer was really good. I went with two other people and all three of the beers I tasted were smooth and easy to drink. The waiter was friendly and was able to offer up good suggestions for both food and drink. We got the brisket mac and cheese, hot chicken sandwich, the Italian pork sandwich, and the special roast beef cheddar sandwich. All were pretty good, but not amazing. What knocks this to a 4-star is the pricing. A $16-$19 price range for an average sized sandwich should come with chips or fries but it didn't.

Yelp
It has been a few weeks and I find myself still thinking about La Cabra. Such a surprise to find a great smokehouse with its own beer in the backwoods called the Main Line. We picked La Cabra for a late lunch for no reason other than we had never been there before. There were more people inside than we anticipated so we bellied up to the bar and began asking questions. The bartender was fantastic. Not only did he let me taste a couple of house beers before I made my selection, he recommended different items on the menu.. all which turned out to be great. We started with the buffalo chicken dip. Loved it! It had great flavor.. smoky... with lots of chicken and great thick corn chips. While we worked on the appetizer, we struggled over sauce selections for our sandwiches. Our fab bartender were offered us samples of all of them. I loved the pit sauce. They are all housemade.. and so good, we took home the leftovers. Beware the dangerously spicy one though. It can take your lips off but it goes great with a beer. We ordered pulled pork and brisket sandwiches. Both were moist, tender, infused with smokieness.... so good, I asked about the smokemaster. It turns out there are two La Cabras. One makes the beer and this place handles the smoke so we made an excellent choice in locations. We also got cole slaw, beans and mac-n-cheese. The cole slaw was crisp, very fresh. They made a very different take on beans. Large smoky beans and no gooey sweet BBQ sauce. The mac-n-cheese was a massive hit and if you love this dish, they have entree size takes on it. By now we were full, very happy and feeling a bit guilty that our kids missed such a great meal. We ordered dirty chocolate pudding as takeout and La Cabra went all in. The kids loved this chocolately cakey pudding that came complete with gummy worms. We will definitely go back for more and maybe tonight now that I have remembered how great the food was, thanks to this review.

Yelp
The food was overall good. The layout was small but gave cozy vibes. Definitely worth the visit.

Yelp
Great food, get the hot sauce it brings the heat for sure. Plenty of options on drinks.

Yelp
Amazing wings and beer. I was shocked by how good the food was for a brewery. Love this place

Yelp
Met my son here for dinner. Started with the nachos which were more than plenty. Along with the custom delicious brews was a meal in itself. I had the brisket sandwich & my son had the new Italiano sandwich. Both were packed with delicious bbq. Outstanding. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by. .

Yelp
Super cute place. Ordered chips with onion dip and Mac and cheese with brisket. The pit sauce for the brisket was awesome. A little tangy and perfect to cut the fat of the brisket. Not sure what seasonings they use for the chips but I couldn't stop eating them! Wish I lived closer so I could try more of their menu!

Yelp
The food is amazing. Dinner for 5. We had the nachos, and honestly that was huge for even 5 as an appetizer. Between that and the crowd pleaser for dinner I'm stuffed. Did I say the food was amazing? Oh I forgot we had an order of the spicy raspberry wings too. Service was slow ... Really slow.... Odd for a BBQ place that just had to plate up food that's been smoking all day, but maybe short staffed. So lose a start for speed but on the other hand it was relaxed and nobody wanting you to vacate the premises. I've eaten plenty of Q in Texas, namely Austin at all the renowned places and this was as good and better in many ways. Ahh shoot forget the slow service, 5 stars it is.

Yelp
Inviting place with limited parking. Wasn't that busy for 5 pm on a Friday, but I think they open at 4. Greeted warmly and friendly and the staff seemed to be enjoying working here. Menu was limited, but could be more of a function of their limited space on this tiny lot. I noted an absence of smoked sausage for example. Having lived in Texas, things are always tenuous with me when a friend recommends a bbq place in the northeast. But I know that she knows an old haunt we both managed to discover in Georgetown so I know she knows her bbq. RiP Old Glory BBQ. The nachos were piled high and dominated with the pulled pork option. I think a better choice would have been with just burnt ends, but I can't recall if that was an option. My brisket sandwich had very nice brisket but no bbq sauce could be found and where's the onion? The Mac and Cheese was perfect and I liked the cornbread even if the butter was kinda of unconventional. In the end, maybe this place works if only for this affluent area of Philly, but you might want to skip it if you're a concealed carry from longhorn country Texas.

Yelp
I was so surprised at how good this place due to the location. The beer was great, but the food, the food was amazing. Staff were also pretty engaging which was nice since I was solo.

Yelp
I was there on January 27th. It is always a pleasure to see entrepreneurs in the restaurant business. I went specifically to support. The food was tasty. The front of house was being steered in an efficient manner. HOW EVER, someone in the back took a portion my 1/2 rack of ribs. I arrived home with a 9-10 inch slab. Your staff will sink your business if you don't watch them.

Yelp
Great service! Very clean establishment. Food was excellent. Recommend the burnt ends

Yelp
I'll preface this review by saying I'll go again because I went closer to closing which I think can be a tough time for restaurants. We had the Smoked Half Chicken and the Brisket. I also ordered a Rosemary Margarita. The Brisket was very soft and tender and had a great bark on top. The flavor on the bark was exceptional. The chicken was also tender but less flavorful. Unfortunately, I didn't like any of the sauces given with the meats so not much to add to the chicken. The sauces were too sweet. I was hoping for a bbq sauce with a kick to it or a combination of sweet and spicy. The cucumber salad with the chicken is actually just sliced cucumbers. No flavor at all. I don't know what it was supposed to be other than cut up cucumbers. Was there supposed to be some flavoring to them?? The Rosemary Margarita was pretty good but didn't match the cost for a pre-made on tap drink. Too pricy for what it was. Our server and the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful.

Yelp
A quaint, corner establishment smoking meats on-site and slinging high quality beers from their mothership brewery. Lots of BBQ favorites to choose from: pulled pork or brisket: sandwiches, by the pound or mixed with mac & cheese, baby back ribs, or even wood fired salmon. Walk in and order at the counter station and they'll bring it out back for you - a few picnic tables under a tarp. There's also one table out front. Indoors is pretty small but adds to the charm. We were given a carafe of water along with our drinks which was nice. Beers are top notch. Really loved the Hope and the Hipster Catnip. Flights available. My wife enjoyed the cider. Their digital beer board is integrated with Untappd, so check in while you're here. We got brisket sandwiches and mac & cheese - brisket was fantastic. Bun could've used a bit of steaming or something, just seemed to be some awesome brisket put on a decent, but dense, room temp bun. My dad got the pulled pork sando and enjoyed it, but it didn't quite meet his standard for Carolina BBQ (he's somewhat of a buff being a Virginian and Ralph's regular). Overall, couldn't be happier with our experience though. Will definitely be back to try other options and drink more of their fantastic beers. TL;DR; get the brisket and a beer, can't go wrong.

Yelp
I'm so glad my husband and I made a stop here on a random Friday afternoon. I have so many wonderful things to say about La Cabra! First of all, the staff are really awesome. We were served by Alex who is just a kind soul. He chatted us up and talked to us about the awesome selections available to us. I'd like to definitely come back in the future to have some craft beer. So many options. He certainly shared words of wisdom and his kindness when learning I was a day shy of my due date. Its nice to meet people who care. Second, the music selection. Okay, Cabra...I see you! My husband and I are definitely hip hop heads but more like Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def and other slight mainstream but mostly underground real hip hop artists. That's exactly the music that was played while we were there. Every 3 minutes we were saying "ohhh good song" to one another! So awesome! Third but not least, the food! We ordered the smoked wings, half smoked chicken that came with a cucumber onion slaw, a large order of collard greens, cornbread and an order of mac n cheese. It was a lot of food! The wings and the chicken were SO DELICIOUS. Both succulent and juicy and falling off the bone. The greens were good too. They were prepared with Roma tomatoes and onions. Definitely a different take than we were both used to but I nice change of pace for one of our fav sides. The mac n cheese was okay but we wished it was a bit cheesier. I will say though a bite of greens, chicken and mac in one could send you right to heaven. My husband enjoyed the slaw. One thing we didn't really get into was the cornbread. It was dry and had shred of something in it. Meh. It was such a small portion of the meal. Anyway, we will definitely be coming back. My husband is desperate to try their brisket cheesesteak! Thanks La Cabra for an overall great experience during a bit of a rough time for me.

Yelp
Growing up in MD - below the Mason Dixon line and traveled to Carolinas , Texas and Missouri, I've tried all styles of smoked meats and bbq. La Cabra is #1 in my books in the area. When you see and taste all the food on the menu you can tell the care and thought of the quality of Ingredients and how it's cooked and of course the deliciousness that is so comforting. I've eaten here many times , tried most of the meats and sides but finally put the keyboard on my phone in motion. I've tried all the meats- chicken, pork, brisket and their home made sides- I wish they had a side platter! All home made, clean ingredients! Corn bread, coleslaw and beans are my fave! Being Tuesday the special was tacos! They were out of the Barbacoa ( very popular I'm sure) so my we got the smoked pork . Seasoned just right with southwest spices and warmed tortilla with a salsa - it was the perfect taco. Yes you want to taste the fabulous meat and not mask low quality meat with lettuce, cheese, four cream etc . - had to get this off my chest Lol The Mac and cheese is to die for here- no it's not super gooey and creamy or has lobster on it- but you can taste the real cheese , saltiness and it's perfect with the richness of the meats. I got the combo and had the pork on the side. Super tender juicy pork. Coleslaw is my fave side- fresh, crunch , maybe buttermilk? - no processed Mayo The vibe in this place is upbeat, casual and relaxing. Everyone working at the restaurant are super friendly. Watching the restaurant in motion I see how they really care about making a happy food and experience. Taste matters but it's how you feel when you are there and after. I feel happy

Yelp
This was my first time trying the food. I ordered quite a bit because I wanted to try everything out. The food wasn't seasoned at all. The only thing that was were the greens. The brisket was nothing but fat and the portions were small.

Linda P.

Yelp
We went here because it was so close to Bryn Mawr hospital. I'm ever so glad we did! The staff was wonderful. It's a tiny place so you might need to wait for a table. Our food was delicious. We split a prime rib dip, the chips, baked beans, collards, roasted veg and cornbread. If I had to say anything negative, it would be that the food was lukewarm warm. The flavor however, was fabulous! It still gets 5 stars from me.

Yelp
Really delicious BBQ and servers that know what the food is. A small setting on the corner, but clean, well lit, and fitting. Ribs, brisket Mac, and coleslaw were flavorful and well made.

Yelp
Pretty good beer, friendly service, excellent pizzas (their pizza night is my favorite--I think their pizza is the best around) and very good BBQ to boot. The building itself is a little spare and is on a busy road (so you wouldn't want to sit outside, even if it were available), but I'm looking forward to coming again.
google avatar

Jeff F.

Yelp
Two of us sought out LaCabra after seeing the reviews and wanting some barbecue. To start, parking is a bit tough - there are 3-4 metered spots on the side of the building with their 'innards' removed - so I took that to mean I could park there for free. We tried the queso and chips appetizer and it was delicious - served nice and hot with homemade very tasty chips. We also had the burnt ends appetizer. The burnt ends were *delicious* - but we only got 6 pieces for the $17 cost. I love burnt ends and I have never paid close to this much for the amount of product served. We also added a pound of brisket. The brisket was just okay - not nearly as tender as I would have preferred - and the pound of brisket was $42. That seemed high to me so I checked some of the other highly rated barbecue places and found that the $42 was well above the norm. The service was great - attentive and helpful.

Yelp
This is the first in a series of reviews I'll call "Dining in the Time of Corona". There are some days when pizza delivery just isn't going to cut it. Last week we had one of those days. We needed take out/delivery that was beyond the 'usual'. Lion suggested La Cabra, and with a quick web search we learned their Bodega location in Bryn Mawr has an app you can order from. YES! Full disclosure: I have never been much of a 'smoked meats' person. I enjoy the occasional Carolina style (vinegar) BBQ sandwich, or Texas style brisket, but in general it's not in my most-preferred categories. However, many friends spoke wonders of Bodega, so OK. Looked at the menu and saw a 'brisket cheesesteak", hmmm, that sounds interesting. Also a smoked chicken salad which sounded amazing. Lion also went with the cheesesteak, we got a big mac & cheese for the NMT, a side of mac & cheese, and I got cole slaw. The order was ready pretty quickly, maybe 20 minutes, which was great, and we opted for take-out. Parking is a wee bit confusing but we got a spot on the side of the building - if you know five points it's just an odd intersection - and we walked around front. In short order our well packed order was produced out front by a smiling food wizard (OK tall guy with a cool beard, he could be an undercover wizard). We brought the food home, delighting in the wonderful smells in the car, unpacked, I managed to get a few photos before the food wizard's offering disappeared (see what I did there?). It was, in a word, OMG. The cheesesteak is more of a brisket with cheese and dang was it good. The salad was really wonderful, an interesting flavor profile with the smoke, the chicken and the dill, it's addictive. Mac & cheese were inhaled by the NMT, and the cole slaw was nice and fresh and not drowning in dressing. All this, and with a nice cold beer, and I said to Lion "You know, this feels like a lovely summer picnic, doesn't it?" Ignore that we're in a sunny kitchen, there's a deadly pandemic happening, and yeah, he agreed, it did. Thank you Bodega for a lovely, magical summer picnic in a box meal.

Yelp
BBQ and beer are two of my favorite things. So when you combine them together inside the second offering from an incredible local brewery, it doesn't take much for me to want to try it. And when I did it led to an incredible experience overall. La Cabra has been creating some incredible beers within the oftentimes less traveled area of Berwyn for me for a couple years now (I really need to get down there for a 2nd visit and review). So when I heard that it was opening a 2nd location closer to me in Bryn Mawr, I was psyched and ready to try even if it was moving into the spot that used to house my beloved Biga. Checking out a pop up they curated in Ardmore confirmed that the barbecue was a success, and that they knew how to make beers with creative names like Hipster Catnip! When my better half and I hit up Tin Lizard Brewing on a night their kitchen was closed early, I remembered here to be a nearby and suitable backup. And they proved to be extra accommodating with their spot on beer suggestions and helpful service. I loved that the beer list wasn't super centered around IPAs and featured some harder to come by options like their Sokol roggenbier and Albaricoque apricot sour. But their house draft list rotates with the seasons and will always feature a couple of good standbys. By the time we hit our 2nd BBQ attempt for the evening we were craving ALL THE MEAT! And this Bodega offered it up amicably with their Poco De Todo, or little of everything platter. For a very reasonably priced $23 it hooked up a platter of 2 smoked chicken wings (full size), 2 good sized ribs, 1/4 lb brisket, 1/4 pound pulled pork, house pickles, corn bread, and their signature sauces! Despite all of that food we were also craving some burnt ends, and they were sheer perfection with their pit sauce and crispy bread. All of the meat that had them were a juicy plethora of fall of the bone deliciousness, and the brisket and pulled pork were both smoky and tender in all the rights places! The corn bread is also cast iron fried perfection! With sandwiches like Nashville hot chicken and a brisket cheesesteak, meat and veggie pies from the hearth, and salads that are tantalizing to omnivores and vegetarians alike, this brewery is a food centered one that has something for anybody. And it even has specials like Seafood Fridays and Prime Rib Saturdays!

Yelp
Stopped in for a beer ended up stay for a few beers and food! The nachos are incredible with the perfect proportions of cheese, pickled onions, hot sauce etc. The wings are great, juicy and with a really nice rub. Their bbq sauce is delicious and has a little kick to it. Would definitely recommend! Beer selection is solid and for the non beer drinkers they offer a small selection of wine.

Yelp
This is a clean and contemporary fast casual bbq spot with what looks to be a solid bar offering. I order the brisket sandwich and coleslaw. The sandwich utilizes a soft and chewy potato roll that neatly hugs a generous stack of brisket. The brisket was well executed with a crumbly falling apart texture. The chew on the meat was slightly dense and stuck on a tooth just a little too long and dry. However the fat was smokey, intensely flavorful, and well rendered. Throughout the sandwich, there were a lot of smoky and salty flavor notes with just the right amount of sweet. The crunchy onion bits were an intelligent add to the sandwich. They compliment well the beef. The cole slaw was fine. It was fresh. Acids, sweets, and savoury mayo blended well. I'd prefer a slightly less crisp but. But this is a personal preference that varies amongst cole slaw commentators. Overall, while I wouldn't say the brisket was perfect, it was very good. And itcertainly fits into the middle tier of briskets I've chewed in the Lone Star state. This is a sandwich worth checking out.

Yelp
It's a very small place with limited seating. We waited a LONG time for our food, which is weird because they were not churning out a million orders. The pit chicken was excellent, but a very small portion for 20 bucks. The pork and brisket were also tasty, but again...I feel like it was overpriced. When I want good barbeque, just throw it on a plate. I don't need the fancy trimmings. Definitely worth trying but I wouldn't go back.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come to Bodega for a few months now, but only was able to earlier today. Some work buddies wanted to go somewhere, since we all won't be together for three weeks and I said I wanted to go here. Had meetings to get back to and some other things, before I take off for an extended Thanksgiving and Bodega got me back just in time. We walked over and from the intersection, you could smell smoke. No one believed me that it was coming from Bodega, but it smelled so nice. I really wanted the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich, but was swayed by the duck wing special. I also got a slice of corn bread. Our food came out together and I thought I made a mistake by not getting the chicken sandwich. Wow, that looked impressive. That crunch and texture was among the best fried chicken I've seen. I don't get too jealous when I eat at nice places, but that's a texture I want to try to get to at home... I love being inspired by places. Thankfully, I was given a quarter of the sandwich, which I loved. Not too hot, but my mouth feels good right now. The duck wings I had, had habenero butter on them too I think. Wasn't expecting heat, but very glad that I got it. My only real complaints are I wasn't the biggest fan of the corn bread. I personally didn't think it was anything special, but it wasn't bad corn bread. Just average. I also wasn't a fan of the free water, which I'm assuming was carbonated from the keg tap you poured it from. I'm just don't really like seltzer or carbonated water. There were pitchers of ice water on top, so maybe that was standard tap, but I'll give it a shot next time. The staff were friendly and when I asked them what the best sellers were, they said brisket sandwich and the Nashville Hot Chicken. I can't wait to return.

Yelp
Finally got to try the Bodega, which replaced Biga Pizza, which replaced Pacillio's Pizza by the Bryn Mawr Hospital. I've been here 4 times since my first order of the Hot Chicken Sandwich. Wow that thing was BANGING! I had to toss the pickles off the sandwich because I hate pickles, but the chicken was amazing! I then went for the smoked wings, and was also impressed! Great dry rub, and nice smoky flavor. Next...Brisket Cheesesteak. Wow, that thing was AMAZING! Great roll, amazing cheese sauce, and perfectly carmelized onions... I really wanted to try the Saturday Prime Rib Special, but its in limited quantities and goes quick! I finally got it and WOW, that prime rib was cooked to perfection! It is smoked, and you get that smoky flavor, which I generally don't care for on my steaks\prime rib, but my Sour Cream\Dijion\Horseradish sauce masked it perfectly and it was amazing! If you want to try it, get your order in early saturday as soon as they open!

Yelp
My fiancé and I wanted to find a good bbq joint to remind of us home (Kansas City) but unfortunately this place fell short. Ribs were seasoned well but dry and skimpy. Mac and cheese was good and reminds us of Joe's. The inside was clean but the music was loud and annoying while eating. Overall, it was an okay experience. Still on the hunt for a solid bbq place in Philly!

Yelp
I knew I shouldn't have come here... I live too close and now I'll come here, All. The. Time. The farmhouse saison was delightful; Perfect for a 100+ degree day. The Uber-creamy Mac and cheese with pulled pork was YUMMY! Throw one of their 3 sauces on top and you have very filling meal that you'll be dreaming about later. Pickled veggies were good too. Service is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The music was even great! I need more Method Man in my life :) I do wish the bar stools were more comfy though.

Yelp
Just passing through PA. I decided to order some takeout for my ride home. Food was ready when I arrived. Order: - Brisket sandwich -- side of corn bread Over was a good meal, got a pretty good sized sandwich and portion of brisket and corn bread. I would say given the price it's not a bad deal at all. I like to let me food sit before I give a review especially with heavier foods like brisket. Food was good, feel full, satisfied, but not gross. Aside from that only thing I'd say is that the corn bread was not the best, potentially due to the time in between it being ready and me eating it, not to mention it was late. - size: 10/10 - flavor: 7/10 Brisket sandwich over all was good, the bun worked well with the sandwich. Maybe just my personal preference but I could have done with less pickles and a few more fried onions. - size: 8/10 - flavor: 8.5/10 No issue with customer service, order was waiting for me I scooped it up and was on my way. Would come back to explore the menu further and beer if I am ever back in the area.

Yelp
There's nothing better than going to LaCabra brewing smokehouse on a rainy afternoon to get some warm pulled pork nachos, brisket and some delicious macaroni and cheese. I feel bad for those who have not been able to enjoy the incredible dining experience that LaCabra has to offer. Beers and barbecue...What more is there to ask for.

Yelp
As senior citizens, we were disappointed that the acoustics are very loud. The decor is great looking and service quick and friendly. Nix the music and our experience would have been 4 stars We had the spare ribs which had good flavor but a touch dry. The corn bread knocked it out of the park! Amazing- best I've ever had and the cinnamon butter topped it off for 5 stars. Everyone was polite and anxious to please Unfortunately, the noise is just too much for us to relax and enjoy an evening of good food and conversation. Maybe a younger crowd won't mind the noise!

Yelp
Trendy take on a typical BBQ joint. Clean and fresh with huge windows that make the restaurant nice and bright. The staff is friendly and attentive. Great first impression. My companion ordered the Plato de Todo and he did receive a decent serving of all their smoked meats. I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious. The meats were tender and well seasoned. Definitely full of smokey flavor. I would have given a 5 star review but I would've liked at least another sauce offered. Otherwise the place is great and we will return.

Yelp
Stopped in for the first time last night, after a visit to Bryn Mawr Hospital. I needed a good cold beer and a bite , and wow was this place great. Terrific IPA ( Hipster ) and the best dry rub ribs I've had outside of Memphis! I will be back for more of both and to further sample both the beer and meats menu! Very personable staff made it an enjoyable quick meal after a difficult day.

Yelp
We did take out. The food was ready when I got there. We got nachos and the separated out the toppings from the chips so chips wouldn't get soggy. The cheese sauce was amazing. Also got chicken sandwich with homemade pickled vegetables on the side. Both were spicy but delicious. Lastly homemade potato chips were my favorite. Of course the beer was good. Will be coming back here.

Yelp
Awesome BBQ, definitely the best I've had in the Northeast. They've got a great selection of craft beers and just the right vibe for a good time.

Yelp
Bodega opened a little while ago and this was our first chance to try it. There's parking on the street as well as a township lot- both require paying at the kiosk. It was crowded when we arrived. Luckily our friends had gotten a table. You order at the counter or the bar then drinks and food are delivered to your table. I've read other reviews about this and agree that I'd prefer table service. We had chips and dip which were homemade potato chips with a creamy onion dip. We also had the grain bowl which seemed really large and fresh. The burnt ends were served on a piece of crusty bread. The brisket was very tender and also served with a thick slice of bread. There's an assortment of beer as well as cans of Coke products. I'm looking forward to returning and trying the grain bowl next time.

Yelp
Went to try it out as I like La Cabra brewery in Berwyn. First I am happy to have a place in my neighborhood I can easily walk to. Then the beers are awesome although pricey at 8$ a pint. This easily adds up to 10$ with a tip! For food I had a nice mixed salad with fruit and cheese and paired a small piece of tasty brisket with an excellent water melon salad. Will definitely be back, nice crew of people but no table service and a little pricey makes this a 4* for me.

Yelp
Bit pricey, but the food is good and it's so close to where I live. My girlfriend doesn't like beer too much so it is pretty cool that they have wine options. I like 93.7% of the beers I tried. Def worth checking out. Always happy to see new places with tasty food & drinks sprouting up.

Yelp
Excellent food. Service very slow because they are busy and understaffed. Food makes it worth it though. They should redesign their service delivery and not make it table service but rather have you order and get a number. Would be more efficient.

Yelp
Solid! We had apps and lunch. Nice service and food/beer was good.the TV had game on and ambiance was clean and set up well. We will be back.

Yelp
Do not sleep on this gem, which used to be called Bodega and is positioned somewhat awkwardly across from Bryn Mawr Hospital. There's a small lot on the side for parking and cute outdoor tables in the back if you are concerned about dining in. First time visitors yesterday and we were greeted kindly upon arrival, like a neighborhood place. Provided instructions about the QR code drink lists and happy hour (weekends too). The place is spotless! We ordered 2 flights so we could sample all the beers, and there wasn't a dud in the lot! And then ordered the burnt ends m, which delivered on the promises from all of the other Yelp reviews and rival some of the best barbecue we've had. A super vinegary Carolina sauce was drizzled on them, which somewhat took away from the meat and could have had a lighter touch. For entrees we ordered the happy hour special of a pulled pork sandwich, a pint, and a side dish for $15! The pork had the right balance of moisture and smoke and was topped with a crispy slaw. The corn bread and the pickled veggies also hit the mark! The service was prompt but not rushed and just gave a friendly neighborhood vibe with appropriate levels of small talk. We compared favorite local breweries with our server and picked up a few recommendations to hit next time we're out In the burbs. We'll be back for sure!
