The 14 Best Breakfast Spots in New York City

"A serene, minimalist Danish coffee shop where skilled baristas work at a center bar; perfect for a quality hand-brew and a housemade pastry like a cardamom bun or pain Suisse — expect a weekend queue and plan for possible wait times, with additional locations in the East Village and Bushwick." - Joy Cho

"Butter lovers, rejoice: La Cabra, a Danish import that just so happens to be one of our favorite bakeries (with one of our favorite croissants) has a second location in Bushwick. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

La Cabra Is Opening in Bushwick, Brooklyn - Eater NY

"La Cabra, the Nordic coffee shop that opened its first U.S. outpost in New York back in 2021, is expanding with its third location here. After the East Village, La Cabra went on to open in Soho last spring; now, La Cabra, known especially for its cardamom buns, is opening its first location in Brooklyn. The team tells Eater the new location, at 1329 Willoughby Avenue, near St. Nicholas Avenue, is coming this summer and will have both a cafe and roastery." - Emma Orlow

In the morning, La Cabra is flooded with natural light from the sun outside. The atmosphere is so warm and tranquil. They have lots of seating and even a study cubby hidden behind the main entrance for working on your laptop. I ordered their ham and cheese croissant and latte. The croissant was cold by the time I got there but it honestly didn’t matter. The flavour was incredible and you could taste the quality of the cheese, herbs and ham! It was crunchy on the outside but the middle layers were just oozing with butter! As for the latte, it was perfect. The coffee was smooth, creamy and warm. Thank you to whoever made it! This was truly an experience I needed this morning!

Amazing espresso done right. You can usually tell if it'll be good or not just by feeling the temperature of the cup! It did not disappoint. The pastries are also on point. Most places you usually have to choose between good coffee and bad pastry or bad coffee and food pastry. This place has got it all.

I headed here on a beautiful Saturday to unwind and have a nice relaxing day, it consisted of multiple stuff and I happened to be in the neighborhood and remember La Cabra was there and its beautiful designed interior. I was quite stunned when i saw a whole stand of espresso machines and everything when i walked in. Even though it was already quite late into the day, their pastry and drinks election were quite a good range and clearly had a lot to offer; from their beautifully crafted cardamom buns, to the almond crossinats, to their range of drinks. Quite a nice classy selection of pastries and fine drinks that just make your day feel very fulfilled. After I finally was able to settle on making a decision being the Cardamom bun and a strong flat white. Originally I just planned to get my coffee and leave, but I had second thoughts because of the delightful ambiance. I’m so happy I decided to stay because I will have to tell you that their Cardamom Bun donut and flat white were absolutely delightful. I haven’t had a flat white crafted so flawlessly in so long this bakery definitely meet my expectations and beyond it. The coffee beans were roasted to perfection and you could tell it with the amazing fusion of mixture between the milk and espresso. Absolutely rich and lightly strong to taste perfectly it’s job as a flat white. As for their bun it had a perfect consistency and balance of both sweet yet a slight bit savory kick with the cardamom which maxed it not heavy on the stomach. The atmosphere and ambiance of the interior design of rose was absolutely terrific ! Very relaxing and laid-back yet inviting, complimenting the market’s design with a minimalistic design style, yet very elegant and detailed in design that really reflected perfectly into the café. Lastly I’d like to highlight the friendliness of the waiters and staff that accommodated us so nicely although. I had originally ordered a shay latte, but I’m very picky when it comes to shay in general so I asked the barista quite a few questions about the mixture and all. She happily informed me about everything and even told that if I didn’t like it I could swap it, and that turned out to be the case funny enough. The service at the barista stand of La Cabra, they were very gracious! The staff was very friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout ou little sit down. It definitely added to making my experience one to remember! I really cannot stress enough on how amazing my experience at La Cabra was: this must be a go to spot if you are near by and need some coffee to give you a refreshing start to your day All in all, I will have to say this is definitely one of my favorite bakeries in nyc that serves, I’ve been to so many and rarely does anything hit the spot and felt like home yet a fine class roastery at the same time. Whole heartedly I really loved my experience at La Cabra, very palatable to the majority and packed with great flavor! All in all, a top rated experience, I invite you to pursue a visit and enjoy your coffee session here; I can assure you I’m definitely coming back again and again

A beautifully designed café with some of the best coffee in Brooklyn. We stopped by for our morning coffee before heading out on a city trip. Initially, we planned to take away, but the interior was so inviting that we decided to sit down and soak in the atmosphere. The interior design, mellow background music, stylish designer coffee cups (which they also sell), and even the ceiling-mounted speakers all contributed to a great experience. The coffee was smoother and less acidic than what we’ve found at other cafes in Brooklyn/NYC, and the pastries—especially the croissant—were delicious. At the back of the café bar, they have small work pods, thoughtfully placed for people who need to get some work done. While it might feel a bit unsocial, it’s perfect for deep-focus tasks if needed. One small hiccup: they spilled a bit of cappuccino while serving my Italian friend. We weren’t sure if it was an honest mistake or a reaction to him forgetting to tip, given how important tipping is in New York. Regardless, we’ll definitely return to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere again.

A modern and woodsy coffee roastery featuring La Cabra’s signature beans and pastries. This location offers much more space compared to the Manhattan counterparts, with plenty of seating and study space available. You can even enjoy a cool view of the roastery in action. The latte is excellent as usual, and the pastries - especially the cardamom bun - are a must-try.

The presentation and the vibes of this coffee shop are immaculate. The laptop cubbies? Great idea. The pastry was delicious. The beaker cup made me feel like a chemist. The meditative music put me in zen mode. And the staff is great.

Everything here is 5 stars The chocolate croissant & canele & cardamom bun are delicious (I’m French & picky). The coffee is amazing & the chai latte also. The vibe is cool - we made the trip from Manhattan just for this (ok it’s only the L - but still) - I would go back definitely

One of the trendiest news for coffee lovers in NYC is La Cabra opening their roastery in Buskwick, Brooklyn this week. The decor is artsy, bright and wide-spaced with cozy ambiance. Barista brews every cup of coffee with beautiful latte art. Currently, their pastry is freshly served from their east village location.
