Service: - 10 min wait - Special instruction: vegetarian, was served shrimp dish- saying it was correct and later admitting it was the wrong dish! - Wouldn’t recommend to English speakers. Food: - Cauliflower wings 8/10 Good sauce - Truffle Mac & Cheese 4/10 Very dry, nothing truffle flavoured about it… - Truffle Gnocchi 8/10 Good - Crème Brûlée 6/10 Good portion, brûlée was really bad but the crème part was good.

This is a great place if you're on a tight budget. They got some awesome fish tacos for $5. Their beef tartare was amazing, pizza was good, nachos well layered. Cocktails were also great. But the service was slow, so expect to spend a lot of time at the restaurant during events like Jazz Fest. 3.6/5

We often stop by La Cage whenever we’re downtown enjoying the festivals, and it’s always a solid choice. The location is perfect, right next to Place des Arts, with a nice little terrace where you can enjoy the music and entertainment from the events happening nearby. The food is good, with fair prices for the area, and the service is consistently great. The staff is always friendly and attentive, which makes a big difference when the place gets busy during festivals. A fun bonus is the unlimited popcorn, which pairs perfectly with drinks while catching a game on the big screens. Overall, it’s a great spot for a casual meal, drinks, or just soaking up the atmosphere of downtown Montreal. Highly recommended place but do get a reservation!

Google
The food was flavorful, the atmosphere lively and fun, and the staff super friendly. Perfect spot for a casual night out or to catch a game with great company. Solid 10/10. I'll definitely be back!

I was pretty impressed with this Sports Bar to say the least as it’s not a type of place I’d usually go to when visiting Montreal but I was pleasantly surprised as we were a pretty large group and wanted to watch some Euro Cup Soccer. The place was very spacious with plenty of seating inside and nice patio as well. They had some nice large screens as well to enjoy your sporting event of choice. Our server Ariana was awesome made our experience fun and enjoyable to say the least. The food and drinks were way better than what I was expecting and the prices were reasonable too. The $3 shot special was the highlight and we took full advantage of that which made things even funner lol. The Nachos, Wings and Club Sandwich were awesome so I’d definitely recommend those from the menu. Because we had a great time I’d definitely recommend to give them a try here as I’m sure we’ll return again someday when we visit beautiful Montreal in the future.

Google
Alex who greeted us at the door on a UFC fight night during Jazz festival treated myself and my friend like VIP’s and found us 2 places at the bar. 5 stars for this spot, hands down. Merci Alex!

Google
I only post honest reviews. This sports bar is outstanding! I had a burger, my wife had a salad. The food was delicious. Possibly the best burger I've ever had. Fantastic value for money. The staff are spot on. I would like to say I would come here often, but unfortunately I live in a different continent!

Yelp
Adjusting slightly based on our latest visit. As per usual, stopped in after seeing a show, myself and 3 friends. We were asked if we could be gone by 7:30, as they were seating us at a table that had a reservation later. The place was nearly empty, so that was odd. We were sat inside, near the patio doors, which they kept open, and it was a very hot, humid day, so it felt as though there was hot air being blown on us. Very uncomfortable. We got drinks, I ordered one with Diet Coke/pepsi, another diner ordered the same drink but with regular, and they didn't tell us which was which when they were delivered, so unsure if the difference was noted. Before ordering food, I asked the waiter what "sauce vierge" was on a particular dish. He said "like a butter sauce". It was not even close. It's actually a lemon, oil, chopped tomato and basil sauce. The dish was also drizzled with balsamic, which did not pair well with the mashed potatoes under it. I've ordered that dish at a different location before and it was nothing similar at all. Someone else got ketchup spilled on them when their meal was being delivered, the server placed it down badly and the cup toppled over, right on a white shirt, which was unfortunate, however the food runner and our server handled it expertly and really went above and beyond, with our server even digging up a Tide stick, and they comped her meal, which we told them was unnecessary. Ups and downs this visit, but I'll still be back again in the future.

Yelp
This is definitely a place you go for more the ambiance than the taste of the food. I think it is cute that they give you a little basket of popcorn upon arrival. This kind of suits the huge screens everywhere vibe. The food and drinks were your typical bar food and drinks, nothing to write home about. The staff were not very pleased with us being a big group, despite being given one credit card for the whole group, to make it easier. I would have thought that would make it easier, just having a group of 20 something people and knowing it was just 1 bill, but who knows. It was also a bit warm for the amount of people that were packed into the restaurant.

Yelp
We stopped in here to have a quick bite and escape the cold. This place was so popular and busy even at 9pm for dinner! Ice hockey was playing on multiple screens so if you are into sports this is a great place to hang out. There was no feeling of being rushed as to be expected here in Montreal. The menu was in French, but each item had a good picture which really helped us figure out what we and our kids would enjoy. Of course we tried the Poutin. It was delicious with a seasoned and salty gravy and the cheese curds were just perfectly soft and delicious. My husband and I shared a beet and spinach salad which was very fresh and tasty. Our kids had mini burgers and fish and chips. The burgers were amazing and the fish and chips, fine, but not the best they had ever had. I had salmon with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots and it was fresh and light and just the warm kind of comforting meal I wanted. Beer selection was also great! We had a short wait coming in, but not too long and we were offered a basket of popcorn while we waited which was a nice touch. Location is great by the huge mall and Christmas markets across the walkway! Everyone was very friendly and could speak French or English which was so helpful for us!

Yelp
All in all, not a bad experience. If you're interested in a quaint Montreal experience, this isn't for you. It looks like every other upscale sports bar. But that was fine for us. Grab a basket of popcorn for starters. Then we had a couple beers and ordered a bacon, sausage and onion pizza (pidzz). It was pretty good. Service was good but the bartenders were running around like crazy.

Yelp
Disappointing experience which is so disheartening since the front host was so pleasant. We decided we were going to eat in instead of ordering out as originally planned. Once we were seated our server came over and started to speak to us in French (I think she said her name was Amy) when we informed her we didn't speak French she got weird and made a face at us. She then asked if we were ready to order and we said to give us a few minutes. After 20 minutes she never returned so our party just got up and left. I informed the very nice front host of what happened and she really did try to make it work but our group had already walked out. Had we not have talked to the front host, it would have been like we were not there. We were just invincible to all servers. It did look like they were unstaffed. Would return again in the future to give a second chance thanks to the front host. Didn't get her name but she knows who she is.

Yelp
Decent place to stop and grab a drink, whether in a smaller group or a large one. Cocktail prices were reasonable, and cocktails were good for what they were. They give you free popcorn, which was super buttery and salty - believe it or not, I felt like the popcorn was the highlight of our experience.

Gabriel A.

Yelp
I came with some friends they ran out of everything and then blamed it on us they said that they would come with our food but never came with it we asked to get comped for their mistakes and they told us that it's our faults that they won't give us the money back.we paid for 3 tacos and when they only gave us 2 they said that one of our friends ate them when no one else had tacos.Never eating here again!!!

Jonathan W.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and plenty of TVs. Bartenders are very friendly . Great menu and the food is good

Yelp
Just a couple of blocks off of St.Catherine's St and at the mouth of the entrance for Complexe Desjardins mall, La Cage is the hockey-themed sports bar you've been looking for. You're greeted by nice hosts where you can choose their outdoor patio or indoor table seating, and service was well staffed and our waiter was awesome cuz he genuinely cared that we were taken care of. We enjoyed the full rack of ribs for its value but the sauce was quite weak and meat a tad dry. The mash potato and Caesar sides hit the spot, the molten lava cake that comes with lots of hazelnuts is excellent. The Caesar drink was too salty. There isn't a bad seat in the house with so many screens in every angle. Go Oilers.

Kate S.

Yelp
While the food wasn't anything special and we were seated next to the open door to the outside eating area on a hot day the staff are amazing, which for me adds to any experience! As it is in a good location and is really nicely decorated, I will be back when I'm in the area.

Yelp
We stopped at La Cage to watch the Panthers hockey game while we were in town and we had a great experience. It was like being back home at a local sports bar. The food was delicious. The place was super cool, it had a cool vibe. Our waitress was very helpful and make sure we were always looked after.
google avatar

Yelp
Great bar in the middle of the jazz festival grounds. Good food and lots of screens to watch Canadian soccer or your favorite sports. Nice patio too. Wings and nachos are especially good.

Yelp
We had a team lunch yesterday (there were 18 of us!) at La Cage Brasserie Sportive on rue Sainte-Catherine in Montreal. You gotta love a place that puts fresh popcorn on all the tables!  Yum! I ordered chicken fillets and fries, which was very good.  The batter was light and the honey mustard dipping sauce was fun. Considering the size of our group, the servers took good care of us.
google avatar

Yelp

Yelp
I was stopped for dinner a few weeks back while in town for business. The Cheddar Apple Autumn Salad was great, as were the Onion Petals. I'd never had onion petals before, and I liked them more than the traditional onion rings I often get at restaurants. I will certainly be back the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
I found this place in a shopping mall next to my hotel. I was ready for a beer and this place had a sports bar vibe with TVs everywhere. I was offered a basket of free popcorn upon walking in. I was provided with a QR code to scan for the menu and received some assistance in receiving beer recommendations. I decided to order the buffalo chicken poutine that had breaded chicken pieces coated in buffalo sauce on top of fries with gravy and was topped with bleu cheese dressing. The portion size was big and those beers hit the spot. I received good service while eating here. Solid 4 stars!

Yelp
True sports bar with multiple wall-to-wall televisions, loud music, lively atmosphere. We made a reservation on their app. Good thing we did because they turned everyone else away who didn't have reservations. After the hostess checked our vaccine status and IDs, we were immediately seated and given free buttered popcorn. Even though they were packed, our order was taken quickly and our food arrived within 15 minutes. We ordered the salt & pepper chicken wings, fish tacos and shrimp/lobster tacos, salmon tartare, and the grilled chicken club. The wings, although small, tasted good. The tacos were also flavorful. The salmon tartare was underwhelming and lacking flavor. The chicken club had too much bread and too little chicken. The side of Caesar salad that I ordered with the sandwich had all the dressing on the top and it was impossible to mix it in the little bowl they put the salad in. The only thing that I thought was exceptional was their Mille-Feuille dessert. They didn't have an English menu available except online which I couldn't access, which was annoying. Overall, did not satisfy my expectations with respect to the taste of the food. However, if you're looking for a lively atmosphere and a sports bar environment, this is the place. I personally will not be returning. They are located inside the mall, but the restaurant is street accessible. Underground parking available for a fee.

Yelp
We decided to go to La Cage while we were in Montreal for Stanley Cup game 3. They were already full in the inside for the game due to reservations but we were able to score a seat on the patio. It was a great spot as we were still able to see on the screens facing the patio as well as the big screen across the street because they had the viewing party in the area! The crowd at the restaurant was fun, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. They had a good drink menu, lots of beer options, cocktails etc. For food we had a burger, shrimp and lobster tacos and poutine. I would like to warn anyone who orders the taco that the shrimp and lobster is cold, so it is lacking a bit. Overall service was really great as well and I would definitely recommend this spot if you want to catch a game on the screen.
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
A very crowded sports bar. Was able to catch both the Stanley Cup playoff and the NBA playoffs. Our group only got drinks, so can't comment on the food. The service is a bit slow for just a few drink orders, but that's probably because of how busy this place is. You get complementary popcorn, which is pretty cool.
google avatar

Ed V.

Yelp
Lit great vibes and in the heart for down town Montreal. If you want a place to watch a rugby game or boxing match this is the spot!
google avatar

Amber H.

Yelp
I had no idea the burgers were that good here. The blitz burger which to me would be your typical American burger (cheese, bacon, onion, lettuce & tomato) is delicious and packed with flavour. It comes with fries or you can always swap it out for a poutine or onion ring. Now for the big reveal. If you don't know now you do :) Anytime you go in to the cage from now until October you can get 8 free wings with the purchase of 15$. I got salt and pepper wings and asked for blue cheese dipping sauce and boy oh boy were they ever on point. Crispy, hot and packed with salt and pepper. I love that they added a little lime to squeeze on top it really brought the flavours together. When the habs score more than 5 goals you get 8 wings as well but same thing you gotta spend 15$. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE APP DOWNLOADED BEFORE HAND. Sitting outside was great I really enjoyed the table and chairs they were large and comfy. Your view is saint Catherine but right across is places des arts so they're always something going on. I was happy with the service and the safety precautions they took to make sure everyone was safe and enjoying their meal.
google avatar

Michele J.

Yelp
Seated on the edge of the underground city. Bar food and drinks. Full bar, local beer and cider. The Buffalo chicken poutine was amazing, totally change the side.
google avatar

Jas S.

Yelp
Best TVs in town? Expect a rowdy crowd when events are on the screen or at the Bell Center. Food is unremarkable if not a bit expensive but the beer is cold, selections plentiful and service is decent. Take advantage of the specials if you 1) have kids 2) like wine [not great wines on the list tho, even half price] 3) enjoy wings.
google avatar

Yelp

Janice B.

Yelp
This was a great place. Just a bit disappointed that as a sports bar they could not get the football game on they we went there to watch. But the food, atmosphere, and people were great.
google avatar

Atnier R.

Yelp
Typical sports bar food quality. It will do in a pinch but you can probably do better if you are not too hungry to research nearby places. Service was good and the popcorn they give you from the get-go is a fun idea.
google avatar

Justine S.

Yelp
You guys already know. Free popcorn = 5 star review from the one and only Justine S. Came for a small bite to eat before a concert with my cousin. The restaurant is very nice, the service was perfect, and all the tv's around are pretty pleasant and if you think they will bother you, they won't. You forget they're there after a while. We got a really good table next to a plug so I got to charge my phone before the concert. I think the prices for certain meals is a bit high but there seems to be something in the menu for most price points and appetites. I ordered a pina colada (was feeling fancy), and it was freaking delicious. The best pina colada I've had in my life (also the third pina colada I've ever had). My cousin and I got the plate to share and it came with chicken fingers, chicken wings, these sausage thingies, and potato skins. Everything was good except the potato skins, those were eh. I love it here!
google avatar

Carolina M.

Yelp
I do not recommend this place. Service was awful. They were so rude we decided to stand up and leave.

Chris R.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great sports bar with big TV's in the heart of Montreal, this is your place! Beer is plentiful, with 24 beers on tap! And the food was great, especially for a sports bar. Recommend highly
google avatar

Gene K.

Yelp
Two visits, first: bartender was terrible.. I sat a quite a few times with an empty beer glass while she, herself took a shot with someone, or was busy socializing with other employees. She walked by me, never looked my way at all until I said something...for the prices they charge, you'd expect much better service. Second: a little better, again, bartender chatted with a customer for a LONG time while I sat there empty. Price: over $8 (USD) for a pint of Michelob ultra, a friggin pint. I have been across the U.S. five times and NEVER paid that much for a beer...extra star for the free popcorn...I will never go back there again!!!!!!
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
Came in for evening drinks. This is a cool sports bar with lots of TVs, all with different games in them. I really appreciate a sports bar with real sports on. My Mojito good enough. It really wasn't sweet enough, which changes the taste of the mint etc. not a bad mojito but nothing to rave about. They have free popcorn at the front of the bar. Self-serve and plenty of baskets to fill. They're also a grill and the food looked good. They have a decent children's menu too that my nephew would've liked. Patio seating is the best because you can watch the street fair and just chill. Final Word: Decent spot and well located.
google avatar

Harry C.

Yelp
Definitely a spot to watch sports. Plenty of TVs around for you to turn your head every which way. While it was busy, I would say the service itself was still pretty slow. Being a sports bar, I figured a solid burger would he a good choice. I noticed that that had the Beyond Meat burger and with all the hype around it, figured it was time to try it. It blew my expectations away. It has the char-grilled flavor of a nicely grilled burger with the moistness you want of a fatty piece of beef. Not dry at all. The extra kick from the spicy mayo added some good flavor. The Greek salad I had for an additional $3 instead of fries (I'm normally not this healthy. But I was recovering from a plate of poutine), was pretty much just whole uncut tomatoes, feta and bell peppers. It tasted pretty decent, but I basically dumped it on the plate and had to cut it up myself into smaller bite size pieces. Overall the place is good for a touristy area. While the price might be a tad steep, it was still worth it for the sports. Oh, and they have free popcorn.
google avatar

Stephen R.

Yelp
Popcorn while you wait, great wings, good poutine. Lots of TVs, a great place to watch a game.

El O.

Yelp
Not worth the money & the wait... Maybe 45 minutes waiting for my food, and when it finally came my burger was tough and dry... great service tho
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
It's part of a chain that keeps getting pricier and the portions are getting smaller. I went there because the habs scored 5 goals and they offer 8 free wings during the next day. The wings are pretty decent and I do like free. But getting a plate of nachos with barely any cheese or salsa is a letdown. The place is noisy, it's normal for a sports bar but what I don't get is why they drown out the sports commentators between breaks to put their own music. Wouldn't sports fans want to know what's going on?
google avatar

Joyce N.

Yelp
Stopped by the Cage with some friends after a concert during the Francofolies. I must say the place looks very neat, you can tel it has been renovated recently. The food was a bit overpriced for what you get, at least when it comes to their burgers. We had a blizzard and a fried chicken burger (can't recall the name). Moreover, it is a sports bar so it can get pretty loud during evenings.
google avatar

Aaron C.

Yelp
We only came here for a drink to end the night so I can't review the food. However, we were shown to a table quickly and our orders taken promptly. The waitress was very helpful and took time to ask us about our evening and recommend other places to visit during our stay in Montreal. Overall a pleasant experience due to the attentive staff.
google avatar

Richard S.

Yelp
Walked Out. After being seated and waiting 15 minutes while many servers passed our table, we decided to leave. A very busy Sports bar.
google avatar

Courtney N.

Yelp
I really liked the decor. We went on a busy Thursday about midday. We ended up at a high table near the entrance. Not the best location. It was directly across from the check-in desk so a lot of foot traffic and a popcorn machine which smelled delightful. I think you get free popcorn with every meal but they never told us. We eventually went and got some as we saw others taking it and it was very salty and tasty. For drinks, I got the most refreshing mojito. So good! My dining partner tried some different beers and liked both. Our waitress was nice. For food, I got the Cobb salad. Loved it. Perfect egg on top and it was huge. It could have used more dressing but that was a small complaint. For the other meal we got salmon tartare. Not my thing but my dining partner ate it at a record pace (then started on my salad) so he had no complaints. Prices are good. The salad portion was huge. I think next time I'd like a table or somewhere away from the entrance but other than that it was very nice.

Ana C.

Yelp
Good place to go to watch a game with friends. I didn't find the food very good. The fish tacos were good but the shrimp tacos and nachos wee disappointing. Maybe other things were better.
google avatar

Yvette G.

Yelp
I was looking for a place to grab a beer (or two) on St Cath and thought La Cage would be perfect. The beer was great, as per usual. I got nachos to share, which were pretty good as well. Staff was nice and attentive. Also, I like that this place is spacious.
google avatar

Juliette F.

Yelp
Today I was there and got a fish taco to go, with that I ordered a side of guacamole. The taco was fine/delicious but the guacamole was 1/3 chopped onion (way too much). Onion is cheaper than avocado but avocado should be the principal ingredient. I won't be getting it again.
google avatar

Coach T.

Yelp
Well it is a decent sports bar. Corporate and a chain. But if you are going to advertise as a sports bar and on Sunday claim that you are the place to be to watch NFL games, then you damn well better be able to show all of them. Well they can't, they can only show 3 at a time and that is not the line up. So disappointing. And the food is over priced as well. Off to another "sports bar"
google avatar

Dante W.

Yelp
Free popcorn!! Very lively atmosphere and very friendly service. Had a delicious burger and an underwhelming Mojito. Excellent place to take in the sights and sounds.
google avatar

Eden L.

Yelp
It's a very busy sports bar with nice vibes but not the food. I have been here twice. This time I came at a Monday 9pm. The place was packed. Reservations are recommended. I had a beer and two fish tacos. The beer was refreshing but the beer head had receded, leaving behind noticeable lacing. The tacos were bland and the only taste was moyo. There was too much moyo, and it dripped a little. If I ever come back, I would like to have a drink on terrace and probably skip the food.
google avatar

Anastasia B.

Yelp
Better than I expected. TVs were playing various sports from different locations around the world. Free popcorn! Our server was Simon A. He was friendly but not intrusive. Worked around everyone's dietary restrictions. One of us enjoyed the large portion of bacon mac and cheese ($16). Another had the salt-and-pepper wings ($11.25 for 8). Another had the house club sandwich ($18.25) which came with chicken, havarti and frites. Some of the alcohol prices were reasonable ($8 for a martini) but the wines were expensive. A step above the usual sports bars to be found in major cities, particularly in terms of wine/beer selection and quality of food.
google avatar

Nicholas G.

Yelp
La Cage is your typical sports bar. Pretty straightforward with a lot of tvs and seating. We came for a drink while waiting for a reservation at another place. Drinks were inexpensive and hit the spot. Bartenders were attentive and we enjoyed watching some sports to kill time. We did not try the food but it looked like your standard bar fare. Come by to watch a game. This is a great place for that.
google avatar

Shoma M.

Yelp
La Cage hit the mark with their decor but slightly misses with the food. During my visit I ordered fish tacos thinking how can anyone ruin fish tacos? La Cage managed to accomplish that fete. The tortillas were cold which was in complete conflict with the hot fried cod. There was a white sauce almost like an aioli which was delicious but the total package was a huge dud for me. Good thing I also ordered a green salad which as turns out was incredible. Fresh, delicious and unlike any Greek salad I've ever tasted. The servers were very friendly and polite; the ambiance inviting. My friends who ordered steak and chicken said they were both well seasoned and delicious. I would still go back steering clear of the fish tacos.

Yelp
So I am pleased to write this review. Sunday's at La cage they have kids meals for $2.99 with an adult purchase above $12. They also have great deals throughout each day of the week as well. It's a very laidback and cool atmosphere. La Cage is one of my favourite places to eat at in Quebec. They have many TVs so watch as well and they are placed well throughout the location. Also if you subscribe to their newsletter everytime the Habs score 5 or more goals you get a coupon for free Wings to use before the next game ! They have many great starters as well. I'd suggest the potato skins.
