I returned to La Calle for the first time since their move to Fells Point this week. The location is fantastic - on Broadway, just across from Broadway Market, it's a great spot for dinner or brunch if you're spending some time in the Fells Point neighborhood. And the interior of the restaurant is really beautiful, trendy without being too much, comfortable, elegant without being stuffy or needing to get dressed up. I had dinner at La Calle on Friday with three friends. We shared their guacamole and chips and their passionfruit aguachile (with fluke, jicama, cucumber, red onion, black sea salt, micro cilantro, and corn tortilla chips). Both were very good, but the passionfruit aguachile was the highlight of that night's meal for me - fresh, bright, spicy, and delicious. The four of us shared four orders of their tacos - fried fish tacos; shrimp tacos; brisket tacos; and carnitas tacos. Each order comes with three tacos, but we had four people, so I didn't get a chance to try the seafood tacos (my friends really enjoyed them), but I enjoyed the pork and beef tacos. We also got an order of churros for dessert. Another highlight of the meal for me was my guava margarita, which was so good I had to have two. In addition to good food, good drinks, and great atmosphere, the service was very good as well. The new La Calle is pretty great. I'm sure I'll be back when I'm craving some cochinita pibil or mole or ceviche.
