Remember coming to this restaurant EVERY friday back in '02-'03 & it was always very delicious! Visiting Dallas and decided to eat here for dinner on a Thursday evening. Made reservations at 4pm for 12 people and they had us in a private room which gave us plenty of space and privacy. They have a lot of seafood options both fried and grilled. Their top Entrees are the shrimp or octopus cocktail with crackers. Very delicious and not spicy at all. It definitely hits the spot and they offer both in small or big sizes. They offer ceviche, shrimp, salads, tacos, etc. We got a pitcher of Piña Colada and skinny margarita. Both were very delicious and definitely hit the spot with a few cocktails. Our server Javier was amazing, very friendly, efficient and gave great recommendations. The place has a small parking lot beside the location but they do have a lot of seating both inside and outside. If you are in the area this would be a great spot for lunch or dinner.

I recently dined at this fantastic Mexican seafood restaurant, and I must say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The ambiance was vibrant and welcoming, setting the perfect tone for a delightful meal. The food was fresh and flavorful, with each dish offering a unique and authentic taste of Mexican cuisine. A special shoutout goes to our waitress, Meredith, who made the evening even more enjoyable. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Her warm personality and exceptional service truly enhanced our dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious Mexican seafood and outstanding service. We'll definitely be back!

I love coming here for a lot of reasons, one being the food is always amazing and so fresh. I don’t know what they put in the salsa but it’s so addicting with those good chips. The enchiladas verdes are so yummy and I love how creamy they are with the chicken having lots of flavor too. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant as well. I feel like every time you go, you somewhat have a different experience based on where you’re seated in the restaurant. The staff is great and I realized they’re great at having teamwork because even though they’re not our server, they will come and refill your drink, pre-bus, or just get you anything you need if your server isn’t there at the moment. They were so nice they gave complementary fresh lemonades before we left for la vida dulce 🥹

Google
Excellent all around! But the food takes the crown. The aguachile was the best one I've had in years and the fried fish also really good. Sitting on the little porch was perfect for the day.

Google
My friend and I came here for the drinks! The margaritas (classic house) were good, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We didn't order any entrees at this location, however the location in Lancaster- the fish tacos were delicious that I previously tried. The queso and salsa had a good flavor, and we just had that with chips. Will definitely come back! Love the area that it's in, and it was convenient to access.

Loved the food! The fish soup had an amazing, flavor... Felt a little rushed by the waitress, and the tables are cute but too close to hold the conversation without listening to the others.

Yelp
One of the places I'll miss for sure. This restaurant is where I go if I don't wanna feel sad anymore. The mood is loud and happy! Food is almost always amazing! I love their Paella and Fajita. Their soups are also really good that I often order more (each entree comes with a cup of soup). On the weekend, they have live music as well, and you can get fresh tortilla from the window inside. Server is attentive despite being busy at times, and trust me this place always poppin. I'll definitely stop by every time I'm in Dallas!

Yelp
This place is amazing. Great food, great decor, plenty of parking with efficient and knowledgeable staff. Our server Javier was very attentive to our large party of 12 guests. I actually live in Charlotte, North Carolina but was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up dinning at La Calle Doce during my teenage years. The place hasn't changed much except for a few menu items. I was able to call the restaurant and make a reservation all the way from North Carolina. We arrived 15 minutes before our party reservation at 4 p.m. and we were actually sat down immediately in one of their more private event rooms. We were actually the only party sat in that dinning room and it was great to be able to hear and done with family members without having to worry about other guest in the restaurant. The food wait was less than 15 minutes and appetizers were brought out immediately and were very hot and fresh. Our server Javier made sure everyone's beverage stayed full and we were actually able to get a pitcher of Piña. Colada for the table. This place never disappoints and I am so happy that I was able to dine in at such a nostalgic place for my family and me.

Yelp
Everything is great here. Food service and drinks It's must place to eat when visiting or living in Lancaster

Dors M.

Yelp
Ceviche was very good chips tasty salsa good . Customer service was good . But the best thing about our visit was the best flan I ever had ! Love the decor also.

Yelp
First the happy hour house margs are delicious and go until 6:30 for 6$! Great deal and so yum! But the food was not it. My shrimp and crab "relleno"? had no relleno pepper so be warned but it was also funky. Had an interesting burnt rubber taste to it? Was also just covered in what tasted like nacho cheese from the ballpark. I love seafood and Mexican but this was not it. The environment is great! Food is not. But a man came out on guitar for a birthday and they had a guy selling photos but gave you one for free which was super fun! Our waitress was great I will give her that.

Yelp
This is my third visit here. I always get the same dish, spinach and mushroom enchiladas, which are a vegan option. This may be the only vegan option they have on the menu, but it doesn't matter because it is so amazing! It taste like a Mexican dish, is spicy, and is very flavorful. My only gripe, and the reason why I am giving it four stars today, is because we came in on Friday evening, which was completely packed and the spinach wasn't as fresh as it usually is. What I love about the location is that it is in Bishop arts District. I like that it is in a house so it gives you a homey feeling and it feels like I am around family. very comforting! There aren't many locations or restaurants that have vegan Mexican dishes, and I like this one so much, that I will continue to come here for years to come.

Yelp
The food, drinks and service was excellent . Went for a birthday celebration and had a great time with the family. Everyone enjoyed themselves and loved the food.

Yelp
Visiting Dallas area for a weekend, was told I should check out this place for their fish soup and relleno. Both were fantastic. The shrimp relleno is not your typical stuffed green bell pepper, but giant prawns served with rice, baked potato, and a small piece of chili pepper almost as an whimsical afterthought. In any case, this is a delightful dish I highly recommend it. Also, Yelp check-in gives you a free half nacho (I couldn't believe the 'half' size, I guess it's Texas everything is bigger.) The freshly made chips and salsa (green and red) were also excellent! The restaurant is basically a converted cozy country cottage, so it could feel cramped inside for some people. The upside is you feel like dining in the charming home of a gourmet host with Southern hospitality. I loved it.
google avatar

Diana D.

Yelp
Oak cliff staple for sure. Service is great. Friendly staff. I have mixed feelings about the food, because some of the things we ordered were glorious and some things were not that good. We ordered the fondue, 10/10. The stuffed shrimp sounded great, but personally, the crab texture was too pasty plus the combination of the shrimp and cheese was not the best. The California tacos were a little dry. Most meals come with a fish soup. The cucumber mule was pretty good. I loved the Victorian house vibes and the wallpapers and decor. Place is very clean.
google avatar

Yelp
Holy moly they do seafood perfectly! Large dining room spaces, sophisticated casual, friendly and gracious staff. We had a party of four and got to order 4 different entrees, appetizers, and desserts. Servings are large, hot, and scrumptious. Seafood lovers this is top-notch and you won't be disappointed! Homemade tortillas made on-site! The fish soup is delicious! Plenty of parking.
google avatar

Skyla L.

Yelp
Holy moly. I'm not Mexican but I'm gonna say this is the best Mexican I've had. Super fresh. Can't lose with any item on the menu. So far, I've loved seafood tacos, all the soups, taco salad, seafood appetizer dip... Plan to try lots more. Love the enclosed patio. Ask for Kiko!!!
google avatar

Jasmin S.

Yelp
Food tasted good. My issue was the size. I paid 15 plus tax for this size. Service was to go. Husband said that the atmosphere was busy and fun.
google avatar

Christy G.

Yelp
This restaurant is beautiful! It's a house that has been converted into a multi room restaurant. They serve mainly Mexican seafood, but they do have non-seafood options as well. The chicken chile relleno, rice, beans, and nachos were all very good. We received excellent service. This restaurant will go on our favorites list. Cons: Don't drive a low car into the parking lot from the main road. Your car will bottom out. Even our small SUV hit the ground. Having everyone enter & exit through the same typical house sized door and hallway is a mess. People block the walkway and almost run into each other.
google avatar

Julie P.

Yelp
Food was great, the ambiance is a home like feel. And the service was good. The women's restroom is a little tight to get in and out of. In my opinion not really great for mobility impaired.i had the a shrimp style cocktail and i added tapatío because i like a little spice. I had the happy hour margaritas on the rocks and finally the flan.

Yelp
Location Southwest Dallas-Oak Cliff area Parking Off street lot Atmosphere It's like a home with rooms decorated beautifully, bar area, outside garden like area Small room has woman making tortillas-nice! Live music-very nice. Tv's in bar have spanish only channels. Seating Bar, outdoor seating, indoor-tables, booth Service Friendly and super fast. Menu Happy hour menu limited-house margarita not wine. Complimentary chips and salsa-red tasted canned, green was good but very spicy. Chips were light and tasty. Guacamole was generous and fresh. Really good. We had the trio of fish tacos-served with rice, sauce, corn tortillas, and side salad. The shrimp Had the most serving. The salmon and mahi were good but shrimp was best. The margarita was delish and generous. Summary Very popular local restaurant, fresh food, terrific service, limited happy hour menu. They are known for the catfish. Glad we tried it!

Yelp
Extremely addicted to the sopa de mariscos here! Staff is always friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Just ok. The service was slow. Mediocre compared to what that they were a few years ago

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Food is always 10/10 my family and I love it! We go at least once every month or so after mass. Although the food is great, the service can be hit or miss. This past Sunday (5/25), my family of 8 was seated quickly, great start. But the server kept rushing us, repeatedly asking if we were done or ready for the check, even though we were still eating. At one point, she asked who would be paying and dropped the check at the table before we even requested the check. On top of that, staff began loudly setting up a nearby table for a large group, dragging chairs and tables mid-meal, making it hard to hear each other. The table remained empty when we left, so the disruption felt unnecessary. Although this experience was not this best, we will be returning as it is one of our favorite restaurants in Oak Cliff!

Yelp
We have eaten here last about 9 years ago, and stumbled across it again. Walked in and we were like wait this is familiar! The. The memories came back of having an excellent time, and we were hoping that lightning would strike twice. Well guess what?!? It DID! The service was too. Itch even though they were very busy during lunch rush. Our server was super friendly and helped me out pronouncing the menu. Love the chips and two salsa types, my 9 year old loved them, even though they had a little kick to them. The main dishes were great. My wife loved her fish and I really enjoyed my shrimp. You might laugh at this but the home made, made on the premises flour tortilla was the best pairing of our meals. We finished up with the freshly made sopapillas, which were a perfect ending to our meal. Overall we had a great experience, and I'm super glad we came back to this Dallas main stay. If haven't eaten here yet, then my question to you is what are you waiting for?!?
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
Would definitely recommend for a group or for a party. Service was super quick and attentive. Prices are reasonable for the area and parking was easy. Food was great, no complaints from our other guests. They kept the birthday cake in the back until after our dinner and brought it out with candles and singing. Loved it!
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! This place was so busy at 8 PM on a Sunday night (and the restaurant has plenty of seating). I cannot even imagine Fridays and Saturdays here. The menu is large and can be overwhelming! The service was amazing. We were serenaded by a gentlemen on his acoustic guitar singing! We received a "free" complimentary photo (he will bring you framed versions for purchase). Overall, a wonderful experience!
google avatar

Kendy L.

Yelp
Loved all the food we had here! Service was fantastic. The environment was homey and relaxing. The ceviche we had for our appetizer was fresh and flavorful. It is very filling. Highly recommend. The salsa and chips were also perfect. We finished the whole basket before the food came. The mangonada margaritas we had were sooo good and refreshing. We decided to add a shot to it for more fun. :) For the entree I had their steak and chicken fajitas. It came out sizzling and smelled amazing. So much flavor and very tender mmmmmm.

Yelp
For I guess for over thirty-five years now the Gold Standard for a Mexican seafood conctail for us has been what they now call at La Calle Doce the Coctel Vuelva a la Vide. Back in the day it was called the Coctel Siete Mares. We have sampled dozens of Mexican shrimp and seafood cocktails all over FTW, Dallas and Texas. Nothing comes even close. Never. Anywhere. The slightly sweet tomato based cocktail sauce sings with lovely heat from, I dunno, jalapeño or serrano peppers. It provides the perfect compliment for the sweet shrimp, buttery scallops, tender octopus, diced sweet onion, avocado and cilantro. I'm telling you, its the bomb. The creme de la creme of Mexican seafood cocktails. One caviat. The oysters. I don't understand this. We LOVE oysters. We just returned from the Flawdah Gulf Coast were over three weeks we together shared easily 16 to 18 dozen raw oysters. But there is something about the oysters that appear here in this dish that we have never found enjoyable. So we request no oysters and they generously add more scallops! What's not to love about that? Oh, and the Grande Top Shelf Marg you see here? Do not pass that up. Just fourteen bucks. You kidding me?

Yelp
We found this restaurant on Yelp. When we got to the location, I appreciated their large parking lot and that they had a police officer in the parking lot to ensure the safety of the cars. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess. She gave us 2 different options in seating and even allowed one of us to go check out the other seating option, which is what we chose. This restaurant has some history. About 20 years ago, one of the owner's sons was killed by a restaurant staff member, and the father/owner built a room in his honor, that is where we sat. It is a beautiful room with lots of light. When we were seated, our waiter came and brought us menus, water, chips, and salsa. We had a fairly large party, so they combined tables so that we could be comfortable. We ordered beef nachos as appetizers. They were very good and had a lot of meat on them. I ordered fish tacos, and it came with fish soup. I don't know if I've had fish soup before, but I have to say it was pretty tasty. I will definitely come back here again. It had a great ambiance, good food, lots of seating, and friendly and attentive staff.

Yelp
I had a good experience, really good customer service! Food was ok, I must visit to try again. I had the filet snapper w baked potato ... and nachos.. It was ok.. nothing over the top but I plan to visit again to try other dishes

Yelp
Thinking they are the only Mexican restaurant in the area, no one better Attitude!! Manager just apologized, no replacement no credit, we'll make it better next time!

Eva L.

Yelp
Unfortunately My visit to this favorite restaurant was not good, steal portions and high prices, and poorly made food, not recommended!
google avatar

Chantal B.

Yelp
My husband used to love this place, eating here many times over 10 years ago. We decided to return because he missed it so much. Sadly, his tilapia dish was overcooked. I ordered the Jumbo shrimp relleno, but there was hardly any relleno, just tiny pieces. The waitress never asked if we wanted vegetables or potatoes, so we all ended up with potatoes. None of us liked our food and left most of it uneaten. My husband's favorite soup was watered down and flavorless. This restaurant has gone downhill. It was not good at all. We won't be returning.

Karen E.

Yelp
Excellent service and food! Great family restaurant! I usually order a seafood plate but today I went with the traditional Tex Mex enchilada plate. So good! Will visit again!
google avatar

Stef A.

Yelp
Very disappointed. I checked in on yelp which gives you a half order of nachos for free. Our waitress made me stand up to show the manager who agreed that it was valid. This was embarassing but I tried to write it off because its on their business page, I wasn't making it up. Well guess our surprise when the check came (which my partner paid) and we got charged for the nachos. The food was good but this is Dallas, there's better Mexican food with better service who don't lie to customers.

Kizzy P.

Yelp
Great food and service. Restrooms could be cleaner but otherwise food is typically consistent.
google avatar

Erik B.

Yelp
Came with a friend who has frequented this place for decades. Went on a Friday Night when was very busy and was a little that service might be slow but was the exact opposite. Good and Margaritas were excellent. Wish I would have eaten here much sooner.
google avatar

Rue N.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick meal and margarita with friends. For an early evening weekday it wasn't crowded and we were seated in the dining room right away. We put in a frozen margarita orders and got them in record time, and added an order of ceviche as a starter. The ceviche was an excellent bite, so bright and fresh tasting, some of the best I've had in some time. We also ordered a few tacos to try (two brisket and one chicken). I ended up adding the salsas that came with our chips with it, but it still wasn't enough. Not enough flavor, and they were plain no onions or cilantro at all. I ended ordering the grilled fish which I thought was whole (w/head and everything) but was more of a meaty filet. Good char on it, but wanted more seasoning or a sauce with it. The food was okay and the drinks were good, I'd come back for more drinks and stick to ceviche next time!
google avatar

Hugo E.

Yelp
Great spot for Mexican good. Carne asada is good quality and well seasoned. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can be difficult during busy times but you can usually find something on the street.
google avatar

Lou A.

Yelp
This rating is based on two orders of takeout dinners. I had the 3 fish tacos which came with a double order of Tex mex rice. My guest had the 2 beef enchilada dinner also with Tex-Mex rice and a side order of black beans. Our to go order included crispy housemade tortilla chips and plenty of salsa for two people. To our surprise, our order included a small serving of their house seafood broth/soup and a corn and black bean salad which were yummy. So overall, we both enjoyed our dishes. As far as Tex-Mex goes, our selections were mild but tasty. The serving sizes were adequate.

Renee J.

Yelp
I'm a frequent patron of La Calle Doce , decades of history and culture. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine. It never disappoints!

Yelp
Service was great! I haven't been since I was younger. Had the Horchata Borracha which I loved! And fish tacos. We will be back

Yelp
Got to try this place a while back and overall, I was pretty pleased with it. Had the Ostiones En Su Concha (got the half order), and it was pretty good! It was my first time trying oysters and I was pleasantly surprised. For the main meals, I ordered the Salmon Tehuacan and I thought the salmon itself lacked flavor, but the rice and grilled veggies tasted great. My friend ordered the Parrillada De Mariscos which comes with grilled shrimp, tilapia, catfish filets, calamari strips with peppers & onions, and it's served with rice, ranchero beans, pico de gallo, and guacamole - it was SO good. When I go back, I'll be ordering that for sure. Got a half order of the beef nachos and didn't enjoy it much. We also got some free soup, and that was delicious!

Kellanee C.

Yelp
My waiter (Meredith C) had HORRIBLE customer service. The table was ordering the food and before anyone could finish she snatches the menu. Our food came out cold. I asked for a straw and didn't receive it until I had the remind her again, once she bought it she insisted on placing it on the table instead of handing it to me. She rarely came back to check on the table. Overall, the experience was 0/10.
google avatar

Tracy S.

Yelp
the food was really good and the service to i ordered it to-go but i had to ask for water, but after that the waitresses were very friendly and nice as well as the guy who took my order i had the weekly special, 2 brisket tacos, and spinach and cheese soup, pico de gallo, refried beans which were very tasty, guacamole, chips and salsa, and 2 lime wedges fabulous, now i will say my brisket was a slight dry, but i added the pico, guac. and beans and made it my own, i will be returning to try a few more items, it is far few and between you get service with a smile and very nice people, the place is a beautiful home/restaurant feels so comfy and nice to look at

Yelp
IN THE MOOD FOR GREAT MEXICAN SEAFOOD & STRONG MARGARITA NEAR BISHOP ARTS? This is the place to enjoy a community icon of great service and even greater food. La Calle Doce (Twelfth street) has been a staple in OakCliff since 1981 & has since evolved into a very sought after and delicious place to have Mexican fine dining deep in the heart of Dallas. An obvious favorite of ours, I have been coming here since I was a child and have enjoyed everything on the menu from their Mexican Shrimp Cocktail, sizzling Fajitas & large Shrimp, Shrimp Fondue, and great strong margaritas done right. The cozy house vibes are in the front and the Boho greenery patio vibes are in the back depending on what you're feeling. Parking is on the West side of the building. Enjoy the food and tip the service well!

Yelp
Old time Oak Cliff staple. Been going for over 2 decades and wanted my GF to experience Mexican Seafood. They did not disappoint as they never do a d he only complaint was the red salsa, was too hot. It was fine by me. Meal was on point. Love this place
google avatar

Kenia R.

Yelp
My family and I love eating at La Calle doce, there's great servers at the Oakcliff location, the only problem is the manager, she makes people uncomfortable she always looks mad and doesn't greet people well with a smile, she always looks mad and when you are arriving, she always looks at everyone as if she's viewing them with a money number on their face and you never actually feel the warm welcoming, she's always so serious and in a rushing mode even when it comes to picking up your to go orders, instead of properly reviewing your order and making your experience feel great. Every restaurant should have a great customer experience with their manager not this restaurant She needs to smile more and stop acting like if she's not getting payed enough to do her job, sorry but we just had to express how we feel and how it's been feeling coming to this location on a reoccurring experiences

Yelp
I went here for lunch and it was more than I expected. Host met you with a smile and had you seated right away. Service was attentive and prompt. Restaurant was busy with patrons enjoying their food and drinks. Great lunch crowd and ambiance. Beautiful Mexican decor all around with a bar & patio. There were many wonderful choices to select from on the menu. I tried the #9 lunch special - chicken enchilada with a chicken flauta with this dip which was so tasty while my friend had the shrimp nachos which were loaded & delightful. We left nothing on our plates! We had 2 house margaritas on the rocks which were freshly and decadently made. I can't wait to go back to try the oysters and other items from the menu. I looked around at other tables and each plate had a delectable dish that all seemed to enjoy! I'm told they have live music in the evenings so I'll definitely have to try dinner service. Prices were exceptionally reasonable for this quality food!
