Title: Not Worth the Star Rating — Needs Major Renovation
Review:
We stayed at La Calypso Goa and booked 3 rooms—2 Super Deluxe and 1 Deluxe. Unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations and certainly not reflective of a 4- or 5-star resort.
🛏️ Room Experience: Disappointing and Poorly Maintained
The Super Deluxe rooms were on the first floor, and the approach itself was off-putting. The staircase looked neglected, and once inside, the condition of the room was unacceptable:
- Furniture was visibly worn out
- Sofa covers were torn
- The TV was a low-grade local brand with poor picture quality, and YouTube wouldn’t connect
- The balcony also needed serious renovation
After raising concerns, the staff first offered a suite room, but it was in even worse shape—just a separate living space with no improvement in quality. We were then shown a wooden cottage, which again failed to impress. The stairs were poorly maintained, and the interiors lacked any premium feel. Only the cottages and villas looked decent from the outside, but the interiors didn’t match the appearance.
The Deluxe room had its own issues:
- The health faucet in the washroom wasn’t working
- The AC had performance issues
Though the staff offered a room change, it wasn’t practical to repack and shift everything mid-stay. Overall, the rooms felt more like a neglected 3-star property and were nowhere near the standard expected from a premium resort.
🍽️ Breakfast: Underwhelming and Cramped
The breakfast experience was equally disappointing. The seating area was too small, the spread was very average, and basic cutlery was missing from tables. Guests had to repeatedly get up for spoons and forks, which is not something you'd expect from a resort claiming 4- or 5-star status.
