21 Best Restaurants in Puerto Rico | Condé Nast Traveler

"La Cambija is a casual, open-air restaurant with picnic-style tables. There are no water views—it's not remotely scenic—but that doesn't stop crowds of locals and in-the-know visitors from descending for the outstanding seafood: fresh-caught, beautifully prepared, and half what you might pay at a restaurant on the ocean. We liked the Caribbean ceviche and the fish pinchos. The typical Puerto Rican sides—rice and beans, fried plantains—are also very good, as are the homemade lionfish empanadillas." - Kris Fordham

We went in for dinner and food was good. Service and ambience was good, it’s a nice little place. Fish tacos tasted good, it was low on sauces and tasted li’l dry. We got the noodles as something different than the seafood we have been eating. Noodles tasted good too! Overall, it was good, not great!

Google
Excellent service! Waitress was super energetic, friendly, fun & knowledgeable of the menu. We were a big group and they handled us well. The food was good not great. We started with a bunch if appetizers: fish skewer grilled - a but bland; tuna nachos were great; chicken nachos were yummy; ceviche was good. For dinner most got the fish tacos and the consensus was that they were good not great and the portion was small for the cost. 1 person had the pasta dish that said it was fabulous and 1 had the fried fish and felt like it was very rubbery. The restaurant is definitely a popular tourist spot - no locals eating there which is curious and a but disappointing.

Google
Great place for dinner in Rincòn! We had grilled fish fillet, fish and chips, shrimp dumplings and fish skewer. Everything was delicious, in particular the fish and chips, great value for money. The price is in line with Rincòn and I'd say not particularly high.

Google
Maybe it's because we were starving after a day at the beach, but everything we ordered was delicious! I had a grouper skewer that was fresh, soft, and moist, a side dish of scalloped potatoes that were buttery and cheesy, and a beef nacho that had a ton of toppings. My husband had the grouper fillet on a bed of rice and veggies that he said was good. We left stuffed and happy.

Google
Great seafood with delicious flavors!! We especially loved the tuna nachos, the fish burger, fish tacos. We also had delicious watermelon juice and fresh coconut water. The service was great. Very cute atmosphere.

Google
Fantastic food, loved the fish tacos, one of my favorite meals on my trip to PR

Yelp
This restaurant was so good. I went to it twice in one week., The staff was super sweet and knowledgeable about allergies gluten-free all the weird questions I ask . You could go many times a week and get different things that are delicious . Open air restaurant just truly the best.

Yelp
Good food good people Love the fish pincho / tacos rocks and service is fantastic and with a smile

Yelp
The food and service were terrible. It was hands down the worst meal I had since my hospital admission! Even the basic white rice and beans were gross! Who puts curry in beans? The fish wasn't edible had to send it back. Very disappointing as we had great meals here in past.

Yelp
in We were looking for another place when we passed by and decided to give this a try. So glad that we did. Food was amazing. I had the pan-seared mahi mahi special (pictured below) while mi esposa had the supreme fries. We were both very happy with our choices. Service was fast and friendly. Gotta take away one star because it's right next to a busy road, but the place itself was neat, clean, and modern. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
The food was really good here. But if you are expecting typical Puerto Rican food this is not what you will get. It is more a fusion cuisine. Serves burgers as well. Outside sitting on a fairly busy street. No ocean views hee but a short walk to the beach.

Yelp
This place was so good! We had a party of six and didn't have reservations but were able to be seated pretty quickly. From whole experience from start to finish was great. The restaurant has a coastal CA open air vibe. They feature fresh fish and have a variety of menu options. My one girlfriend got the pear salad and it was so good. The vinaigrette was light and the greens were fresh. I ordered the house fish panko crusted and the presentation was lovely. The fish was fresh caught and just melted in my mouth. It was served with a side of asparagus and lobster risotto. We each tried a variety of cocktails and they were all exceptional. I loved my Naughty Coconut Margarita. It was a great meal and way to spend our last night in Rincon.

Yelp

Yelp
Excellent spot for fresh seafood. We enjoyed the Caribbean Ceviche and grilled grouper. Great friendly service, outdoor seating with 10 or so tables. Open for lunch and dinner.
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
This place has the look and feel of a random side of the road eatery set up in someone's house, but it was one of the best meals we had in Rincon. The standout: the fish skewers. The options change daily based in what is fresh, but our fave was the mahi mahi. You can get them grilled or fried. We went grilled, and the grilled flavor was spectacular. So good we could have just had an entire meal of them. But, we didn't. Everything we tried was tasty and fresh, but the skewers, oh baby. Wash it down with some don q for a true Puerto Rican experience. They don't have their own parking, so you will need to find a spot on the side of the road. We went with the apartment complex across the street.

Yelp
Thank u Yelp! The lobster wontons, lobster empanada & fish skewers were great but the grilled wahoo with coconut rice is the best thing I w had on the island. The house mojito was delicious too

Yelp
Great place. Casual outdoor seating with many chickens. Good food and great drinks.

Yelp
This review is based on service. We did not get to try the food unfortunately. We put our name on the list and were told it would be 15-20 minutes. After about 40 minutes of waiting to be seated, and seeing a few large parties come and get seated before us, we asked what was happening. Finally the hostess saw we were getting upset (we have a small toddler) and gave us a table outside next to the main road. We asked to be seated inside as there were open tables so our toddler doesn't run out on the open road and they told us the inside tables are for larger parties only and they couldn't do anything. Unfortunately we had to leave. Never returning here.

Yelp
Called ahead to confirm that they were open for dine in. When we reached, there was no one at the reception but the staff made eye contact multiple times as they served other guests. No one approached us or gave us any indication of how long the wait would be. We patiently waited to get someone's attention for 15 mins before deciding this was a waste of time and started to leave. This is when they waved and got us a table. Mistakes happen but they didn't apologize and continued to act like we had just gotten there. Food was good for the most part. We got the grilled mahi mahi bites and tostones topped with garlic sauce which were both delicious. So was the steak, it was plated beautifully and cooked well. It came with a side of tomato rice which was recommended to us by our waitress and was really good and flavor filled. The jackfruit tacos though was disappointing, was sweet and had a bbq like sauce in it which didn't quite pair well with the slaw and was off putting.

Yelp
Unfortunately, not my cup of tea. The food was acceptable, just not great. The service was weak, for example, we could feel how rush the server was, and they brought the bill to the table before even offering dessert. The ambiance was not optimal since it's by a busy street, with views to the traffic.

Yelp
Great food with outdoor seating. Sandy, the hostess is a great help that will make sure your 'on the list' for a seat. Big drinks are a plus with great food choices you can get. Don't miss this hot spot!

Rebecca F.

Yelp
Tldr - casual, no reservations, good food. Tip the wait staff We got there at 530 and we're seated immediately. At 545 - the line started. Menu is small but simple. Fish tacos, burrito and some land food for none fish eaters. Bar makes good drinks. No parking lot so be prepared. I had fish burrito with fries (no substitutes!). Good quality lettuce and fries were crispy and delicious.

Maryann S.

Yelp
The pinchos & cervece are delicious. Fresh fish Rustic atmosphere but that adds to its charm. Sidewalk Cafe. Service pleasant & attentive. We go often when we visit Rincon, PR. It's really worth a try. Enjoy!

Yelp
We came here from a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The house mojito was amazing and we loved everything we ate. Everyone there was so nice, as well. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Food service and the cat atmosphere! Try the pinchas and all the small plates. Ceviche rocked!

Yelp
La Cambija was so good that we ended up going twice in one week. The drinks were on point. Coming from Miami these were some of the best mojitos we've had! We ordered pinchos of mahi, wahoo, grouper and tuna. We had some grilled and some fried and both were out of this world. It's also served with garlic bread. The arroz mamposteao was the perfect side and it even had pieces of platano inside which gave it great flavor. We also got an order of tostones topped with garlic sauce which our waitress recommended. The only thing is because if Covid they are limited until when they can accept new tables so go early! We had been turned away once since the kitchen was already closed. If you're in Rincon, I would totally recommend La Cambija!

Greg V.

Yelp
This place was amazing. The Food, The View and The service. All exceeded expectations. I highly recommend.
google avatar

Virginia M.

Yelp
One of the best dinners while in Rincon. You can't go wrong with any fish dish on menu.
google avatar

google avatar

Yelp
This place is bizzy so get there early!! The menu is interesting and the food is very good. Service is fantastic and great Covid protocol in place.

Meri M.

Yelp
Sooooo good! Pitchers of mojito was nice and strong. The service was phenomenal and the food was delicious and such a cute presentation!

Yelp
Good drinks and a quick bite. Fish tacos were excellent and if. It hungry able to split for two. It was a breezy night so the outdoor space was tolerable. Friendly server and god options on menu.

Yelp
Cool restaurant on the beach that we heard good things about. Waited an hour to be seated but we walked back to the hotel in the meantime. My friend and i had some drinks and for dinner, i had a ceviche and fried fish nuggets. The fried fish was amazing. The ceviche had a chili sauce that i wasn't a fan of in ceviche but i was still happy to have some fresh seafood. Prices reasonable, service good.

Yelp
Hey all, just posting this for an update if you are going to this place for happy hour or the supposed All Day Happy Hour. I got there today, a Wednesday at 6:15 with my family of 4 adults. Sat at the bar and was told no happy hour and no all day happy hour. I'd just say too based on location which is terrible (a little rough and no parking)....We didn't eat but if Pick one of the many other spots.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service! We came here multiple times on our vacation and referred by a local friend. I got the grouper skewers, wahoo and Mahi fish tacos and friend plantains... they were all so delicious! The pitcher of mojito is also a must for the table.
google avatar

Kimberley C.

Yelp
We've been in Puerto Rico four days- and this was hands down our favorite meal so far. It's a bustling roadside place, open air with friendly staff. We must've timed our visit well, as we didn't have to wait long for seats at the bar. The queue grew quickly after us. BF had the blackened grouper which was delicious. I opted for the grilled mahi with smoked cream shallot sauce. Delectable! And beautifully plated. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Alba R.

Yelp
Food was not great. Chef added to much salt on everything. We had 6 people in our party and everyone complain about having to much salt. All love to add salt to food and none did. The waitress were all good and ambiance was good. However will probably not go back.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
It use to be a place I would go often but it has changed owners food is expensive and not as good as before
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
This place is great for seafood!! The ceviche is to die for. Please try when you go. The service was 10/10 and drinks are great as well!! A to go to if in Rincon!!
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
We stopped in for drinks and some snacks while going beach to beach. This place has an amazing view!!! It is a little pricy. But at least it was yummy!! Good drinks! Really slow service!! We've heard that is how it is on the island. At least you have something beautiful to look at while you're waiting.
google avatar

Regan F.

Yelp
Amazing! Wonderful! Delicious! We got the watermelon margaritas, chicken nachos, turnovers (stingray was amazing; lion fish was not our jam), ceviche, fish burger, and fish burrito. All amazing!!
google avatar

Carl L.

Yelp
Nothing wrong with the food, but overpriced for what it is. The staff is real nice and pleasant, and vibe is pretty cute. But yet again, probably could be 3-5 dollars less.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
This is a nice spot to visit. The restaurant is attached to an actual house- owned bu the owner whose grandparents currently occupy! I ordered the mahi mahi tacos and tostones. The tostones were not fresh, so therefore a bit soggy. The corn tortillas were dry and soggy at the bottom. The fish itself was good. The hot sauce was really good! Ask for it when you order food. The service was good- not great but good. I would come to this place if you're around the area for lunch or in the mood to hang out at the bar.
google avatar

Kit K.

Yelp
The best watermelon margarita!!! No drinks this week came close to this. The food was very tasty as well. Worth the wait if there's a line.
google avatar

Emil P.

Yelp
Delicious food and wonderful service. Every bite is fresh and full of flavor. An absolute delight!

Yelp
We went past this restaurant a few times not realizing what it was. Finally went for dinner and we're so happily surprised. We had a shrimp empanadilla, grouper and wahoo fish sticks, and fish tacos with grilled vegetables. The fish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The mojito's were also very good. Our waitress was Genesis and she did an awesome job.
google avatar

Tara A.

Yelp
Good food on the less expensive side for the area. Kids had turnovers (empanadillas) that were good, and the chicken kabobs that were great! Hubby had beef tacos, liked them a lot. I had civeche- yum!!! So I ordered a watermelon marg and the server recommended passion fruit, I said sure! I couldn't taste tequila so I asked about it, he asked the bartender and came back and told me it had four oz. Of rum... huh? It was tasty, but not a marg lol
google avatar

Gwen T.

Yelp
Great location and good possibilities. But everything on my plate was over seasoned. Too many conflicting flavors. I had the lime seasoned fish and ceviche. And my table was folding with plastic chairs. I get all of that but a more realistic price and a simple menu would suffice in my opinion.
google avatar

Havalah W.

Yelp
We waited all week for this place to be open. They have only thursday-sat evening hours. We were excited as the online menu and photos looked great. We were really after that whole fried fish! They didn't have it though.. The staff was nice and the food came out pretty quick.. The overall environment wasn't very appealing though... It's entirely outside on a patio, which is right next to a street. The food was good not great, and the bill wasn't cheap!! Side note, the drinks were tasty and strong!

Yelp
We had our 24th wedding anniversary at the location near Steps Beach. Everything in our meal was original, elegantly presented and extremely tasteful. I ordered the conch fritters which you would think would be a normal staple in Carribean cuisine but I've not found it once while living in PR for two years. They were absolutely delicious. We split a pear salad with fresh organic greens that was refreshing and was quite tasteful. For libations, I ordered the ocean breeze a signature drink off the menu consisting of vodka, Prosecco and grapefruit which was cooling in this summer heat we've been experiencing. My wife had an aperol spritz which was indistinguishable from what we had in Italian cafes two weeks ago. Our main courses were well presented as artistic expressions from the chef and very tasty m. Mine was the skirt steak prepared over potatoes and my wife had a vegan steak stir fry which was a delight to the palate. It's surprising to see a vegan/vegetarian portion of a menu anywhere in Puerto Rico, but as the main chef is vegan, he paid special attention to ensure that my wife and customers who were vegetarian/vegan can enjoy a gourmet like meal. We will be coming back and encouraged the chef to offer a tasting menu so that he can let his creativity go crazy as we are eager to try whatever creations he has in store for us. Five stars for this restaurant and we wish anyone that comes to enjoy the view, the food, the service and the ambiance as all were exceptional in our opinion.

Yelp
Great little restaurant short walk away from public beach. They don't take reservations. There was a line outside waiting for tables but we like eating at the bar so we got seated right away. We started bang bang calamari. Huge portion with unique sweet sauce. Next up was fish burrito. We opted for the grilled grouper. It also came with huge portion of fries. If there was a problem it was the size. Portions were huge. We only ate half of each but got a box to take back to our AB&B.

Rey B.

Yelp
food, simple and consistently yummy. they keep the menu short, but offer a wide variety of selections. service is always attentive, friendly, and spoken in either spanish or english. this came in handy when we first arrived since my spanish was pretty terrible. ambience is bare bones, but what one should expect in the tropics...benches, simple outdoor seating, and a small bar for those who prefer to eat/drink at a bar. the interesting thing about this place is it sits front in front of someone's front porch, literally. if you go enough, you're likely to see the older couple outside in their lounge chairs watching the people enjoy their meals...no more than 40'0" away. welcome to the island with no zoning!

Yelp
Great food and drinks, nice outdoor dining and great service. A little bit of a wait but worth it. Fresh fish and great skirt steak
