I did not enjoy take out from La Canasta at all. When I went in, the older woman who works there didn’t welcome me, but instead just looked my way. I ordered the Chile Colorado and was extremely disappointed. The chili tasted like the peppers were burnt during the roasting process, the beans tasted old and the rice was sticky and mushy. It came with corn tortillas that were warm, but looked and tasted as if they never cooked. When I was taking a few pictures for this review, the woman became annoyed and demanded to know what I was doing. To make the whole thing even worse, I wasn’t given utensils to eat with. I won’t go there again.

I ordered via a delivery app that charged me but La Canasta didn't get the order. The lady was so kind and understanding, she still got my order for me and told me she would handle it. The burrito I had was incredible and I can't get one like it again back home. When I'm back in San Fran, I'll definitely be popping by again!

Hardly any flavor at all and they even asked if I wanted it spicy. Any good Mexican food has well seasoned beans and these had none. The menu also listed the food as being $3 cheaper than it actually was. Why has all the Mexican food in this city become white washed?

Wonderful home style Mexican food. Very well priced. Cooked to order as you wait. The same family has run La Canasta for over 25 years. At least 15 at this location. The original location was just a few blocks away. Lovely family, traditional food.

Wow. Stumbled upon this place after Flores was too busy. The food here is amazing! I had the carnitas tacos and tortilla soup - so good. My friend had a burrito, which was awesome. Great chips and guacamole too. Also the people are so nice. Strongly recommend!

A very solid choice for lunch, no regrets. I had a grande carnitas burrito. it was pretty good my only regret would be that I got mild salsa since it was basically just tomatoes and onions I’d definitely get the medium or hot next time. It’s a super small place but has the cutest mom and pop feel ever!

This place was fair in price. The staff was friendly but, the guacamole was very old and the food was tasteless. The carnitas meat was very dry and overcooked. The quesadilla was soggy and drenched in a sweet liquid. The “shredded beef” was undercooked. The rice had absolutely no flavor, no salt, no anything. The only item I liked was the “spicy salsa”.
