My husband and I finally decided to try La Cantina de San Angel after walking past it many times, and overall it was an okay experience.
We visited during the International Food & Wine Festival on a Saturday, so the park was extra busy. We waited about 15 minutes to order, which wasn't too bad, and our food came out right away. The hardest part was finding a place to sit -- seating is open and very limited. We wandered around with our trays for about 10 minutes before finding an open table. The staff was doing their best to keep tables clean, but with the crowds, we grabbed ours before it had been wiped down.
I ordered the Nachos, and my husband got the Tacos de Barbacoa. The nachos were a large portion (definitely sharable), but the flavor was underwhelming. The meat and cheese reminded me of Taco Bell, and instead of Pico de Gallo, it was topped with plain chopped tomatoes. My husband's tacos were decent, though the meat was a bit dry -- the standout was actually the rice and beans that came on the side.
The staff was friendly and efficient, and while the food wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. Overall, it's a decent spot for a quick bite with a nice view of the lagoon, but not somewhere we'd rush back to.
