La Cappella - Review - El Centro - Puerto Vallarta - The Infatuation

"Getting to La Cappella means hiking up a narrow, rocky hill in El Centro that’ll leave you winded and second-guessing your dinner plans (the smarter move is taking a taxi). Once you’re at the top, you’ll be greeted with views of the ocean and the iconic Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, from a dining room balcony that feels plucked from theAmalfi Coast. It’s an Italian restaurant that also happens to be one of the city’s go-to spots for birthday serenades and sunset proposals, complete with a team of in-house violinists.  The food and drinks lean old-school—think lychee martinis, racks of lamb with mint jelly, and big seafood platters with lots of butter. It’s all solid, but you’re here for views at golden hour. Stay for dinner, and try not to photobomb someone’s engagement with an unflattering expression when the violins start playing." - Nicolai McCrary

Google
Came here Sept of 2025. Everything at this restaurant was excellent. It is open to the elements so if you’re dining in the middle of summer it might not be pleasant. The restaurant is beautiful with great views. Food was delicious with excellent service. Prices are comparable to higher end US restaurants. Definitely a finer dining experience in Vallarta. Make reservations and sit in the main dining area to enjoy the violinist’s. Enjoy!

Google
Magnificient! Our evening at La Capella was a highlight of our trip! I can honestly say this was the most memorable birthday dinner of my life. The stunning view, the open air dining, the staff, violinists, church bells and sunset was truly unforgettable. I'm not sure if our first experience can be replicated, but we are sure going to try on our next trip to PV.

Google
I wish I can give them a 10 Accross the board. Honestly from the service to the amazing food and the best view in the city this place was one of the best dinning experiences we have ever had. All the staff was awesome but our waiter Ruben and his partner Luis were excellent. Really attentive, made great suggestions and made sure everything was perfect. Come for the dinner during the sunset time Can’t wait to come back in March

Google
La Cappella continues to offer one of the most breathtaking views in all of Puerto Vallarta. It’s a truly special place for an unforgettable evening, whether you’re visiting with friends or family. The ambiance is elegant yet relaxed, the cocktails are excellent, and the food remains outstanding, beautifully presented and full of flavor. That said, I did notice a difference in the level of customer service during my recent visit with my girlfriends compared to last year when I dined here with my family. The staff didn’t seem as attentive or engaged as before. While the experience was still enjoyable, I couldn’t help but feel that the warmth and hospitality that once defined this restaurant — and Puerto Vallarta in general — were missing a bit this time. Perhaps it’s something that management or even the local Chamber of Commerce could address, as great service is what keeps visitors coming back and makes them feel truly appreciated. I sincerely hope to see that signature Puerto Vallarta hospitality shine again, because La Cappella remains one of the most beautiful and memorable dining spots in the city

Google
Came here with my husband for my birthday dinner during our honeymoon and it was such an experience. We chose to come here last minute, didn’t book a reservation, and they gave us a table with the best view. All of the servers are so attentive, helpful, & kind. The drinks and menu are divine. They also had live music with violins which we didn’t expect but it made the experience that much more elegant and enjoyable. It was one of our favorite date nights we’ve ever had! Highly recommend

Google
My first dinner of 2026 was incredible. This restaurant is stunning, you are surrounded by beauty. The breathtaking view and the decor are first class. The service was amazing and the food delicious. They had a great wine list. Unforgettable experience.

Google
Delightful holiday dinner! The violinists playing classical music intermingled with holiday tunes was a pleasant add. The food and service was impeccable Jared was attentive, thoughtful and cheerful during h holiday dinner rush. We had a front seat ocean view. A very special experience

Google
I wasn’t sure what to expect but it wasn’t this. We were celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday and decided to have dinner while watching the sunset. I don’t know how else to describe it but absolute perfection. Jose was our waiter and he was amazing, detailed, and treated us like family. They even have live music and they brought us a birthday cake while playing “happy birthday” on the violin. Food. Views. Friendliness. Make sure you visit when you’re here.

Yelp
La Cappella is an absolutely beautiful dining experience and well worth the hype -- just be prepared to occasionally shoo a bee away from your wine or fresh bread if you're dining outside. The staff sets a perfect pace: attentive without hovering, incredibly friendly, and flexible enough to make the evening feel as fancy or as relaxed as you want. It never feels rushed, which makes the experience feel special from start to finish. Food-wise, everything we ordered was excellent. The tomato soup was comforting and flavorful, the lasagna was rich and perfectly done, and the fried shrimp appetizer was a standout -- crispy, light, and a great way to start the meal. Between the atmosphere, service, and quality of food, this is a spot we'd absolutely recommend for a memorable night in Puerto Vallarta. Book reservations at least a month in advance -- this place fills up for a reason.

Yelp
Reaching La Cappella at night can itself feel like a bit of an adventure as you make the bumpy drive up the steep streets overlooking the coastline to reach Hotel Bellview - nestled at one of the highest points of the city. Once you reach your destination though and take your first step into La Cappella you're instantly transported to a little taste of Italy nestled in the heart of Puerto Vallarta. The main dining room felt like an actual restaurant you would dine at in an old castle in Italy and the view from the restaurant is worth the drive alone even if the food wasn't good (which it was delicious). Service was impeccable and the food was delicious. Our table started with the artisenal meat and cheese board which WE DEVOURED. It was one of the better charcuterie boards I'd had in a while. We also shared the caprese salad which was fresh and delicious. For my entree I went with the Filet Mignon which was accompanied by a goat cheese-stuffed chili pepper on a bed of mashed potatoes, all enhanced by a creamy sauce with three varieties of chili peppers. There was hardly a bite left when I was done with it. While we enjoyed our dinner violinists were walking around serenading guests and at one point fireworks even went off over the city by the cathedral the restaurant overlooks making for an even more spectacular dining experience. Make the adventure up the hill to enjoy the views, vibes, and tastes coming out of La Cappella.

Yelp
I was crossing my fingers this wouldn't be a tourist trap -- and it turned out to be the BEST choice for our wedding anniversary! Easily one of the top 3 most romantic places we've ever been. The food was incredible: the grilled octopus, tomato bisque, and tuna tartare were all perfection. Service was excellent from start to finish, and the ambiance? Magical. I was smiling the entire night. Since it was our anniversary, we even renewed our vows here (in private) -- with the gorgeous view of Puerto Vallarta's iconic church as the backdrop. Truly unforgettable. If you're in Puerto Vallarta, this is the place to celebrate. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Wonderful Italian restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. Old school Italian vibe here with white table cloths and panoramic views. We had beef carpaccio, a Caesar salad, and the colossal shrimp linguine, all were excellent. A bottle of red wine (from Mexico) finished the meal nicely. Service was excellent and attentive. Recommend for a high end meal amidst the less expensive options in the area.

Yelp
This place was amazing the service the view the drinks presentation of food! The live violin is also so beautiful and surreal! Next time we visit Vallarta I will definitely want to visit this place again!

Yelp
Wonderful Italian restaurant with delicious food, drinks and breathtaking views! Definitely get there by the sunset. Service is amazing! We were very happy and will be back!

Yelp
Such an amazing restaurant. To start, the ambience was so great, with the inside looking like an actual church. The view at sunset was absolutely stunning as well. Secondly, the service was also great, with the staff knowing English well and the food arriving at a good pace. Lastly, the food and drinks were amazing. We ordered 3 drinks, 2 salads, 3 mains, and a dessert, with all of it being pretty affordable. The presentation and taste of the food were also amazing. I 100% recommend this place to anyone looking to get a great meal with a nice view.

Yelp
Looking for a romantic place to celebrate, this is the place! Gorgeous in the main room or downstairs by the pool. Wonderful atmosphere with violinists and good food with stunning views.

Yelp
Ricardo was great... food was also good. The old fashion was a great drink. Made reservations. If you are in PV ask for Ricardo.

Yelp
The ambience of La Cappella is hard to beat. We went at sunset and the view of the church was amazing. The food was just ok, classic Italian - you can't really go wrong. The service was just ok too- not over the top. We liked the violin player but he does come to each table and play very close to you which can be a bit uncomfortable. If you come to Puerto Vallarta it's a fun experience and very well priced. With that said, it was ok to experience once, I'm not sure I would go back. It didn't live up to the hype for me.

Mark T.

Yelp
The setting, ambiance, and view are fantastic. The service is amazing. The food was one if not the best we have had on this trip to PV. We would highly recommend and we will return on our next visit to PV.

Yelp
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at La Cappella for my 50th birthday. Due to the size of my party, I had to email the restaurant and promptly received a response to confirm. (Please note that for parties of 6 or more, you will be required to leave a credit card on file. In case of a no-show, you will be charged $20 per person). The restaurant itself is absolutely breathtaking! It's beautifully decorated and has the most amazing view. The ambiance is unmatched. In addition to the beautiful decor, they have live violinists that serenade each table. Despite the large size of the restaurant, it feels extremely intimate. The service was amazing and our waiter was wonderful at responding to our questions and offering suggestions. (Worth noting that if you need separate checks, please make this known upfront. We were a party of seven and when they brought out check out, they were unwilling to split it. One person had to pay and be reimbursed which was a bit inconvenient for everyone). We had a wonderful experience here. I was perfect for a birthday celebration. The food portions were large and everything was delicious.

Yelp
A wonderful combination of view , food and service! Worth the effort you won't be disappointed! Make certain you are at your table for sunset . Take your time the table is yours for 2.5 hours. The craft cocktails are a great way to start . Wine list offers choices however a bit pricey . The Lasagna is authentic , the pasta with giant shrimp in a light butter wine sauce won't disappoint ... Huge Shrimp yet tender ! Service was attentive and balanced not overbearing . Take a taxi this place is really not walkable and for those with mobility issues , be aware there are a few steps within the resturant . Parties of two will find the best tables at the railings other still have a great view. Can't be a bit breezy as the sun sets , but that is part of the ambiance . Worth the special effort to make a special memory !

Yelp
This was the best food I had in puerto Vallarta! Incredible views. Amazing service. Vegetarian friendly delicious food! We got super lucky and walked up and got the last table they had for the night so id highly recommend getting a reservation. A memorable way to dine in Puerto Vallarta!

Yelp
The views and ambience alone are worth coming here! Service is always five star. The shrimp and ravioli was amazing. Highly recommend the mussels as well!

Yelp
All I can say is that I made reservations 90 days prior to my visit. I had the best time at La Cappella. They had live music, friendly staff, amazing food and it all felt so romantic. Cannot wait to go back, literally.

Yelp
Food: La Cappella is one of our absolute favorite restaurants in Puerto Vallarta--especially when it comes to romantic dining. The Italian food is very, very good--thoughtfully prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. While PV has no shortage of great restaurants, we personally think the food at La Cappella stands out--especially compared to nearby spots like La Iguana, which has a stunning ambiance, but in our opinion, doesn't quite match the quality of the dishes here. Ambiance: This place is magical. Easily our favorite romantic restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. It's set high up on a hill with breathtaking views of the city and the ocean--sunset here is something you'll never forget. There are usually 2-3 violinists playing throughout the night, and it creates this incredibly intimate, emotional atmosphere. My wife never cries, and she actually teared up when the violinist came over and played a song just for her. It's that kind of place. Location/Getting There: La Cappella is located in a hotel, but you'd never guess it once you're up there--it feels completely its own. That said, it's up a steep hill, so we highly recommend driving or getting a ride. You'll definitely be sweating if you try to walk it. Reservations: Make a reservation in advance. It's a popular spot and with good reason--especially if you want one of the best sunset tables. Price: It's on the higher end for Puerto Vallarta, but well worth it for the full experience. You're not just going for dinner--you're going for a moment you'll remember long after you leave. Service: Service is excellent--attentive, warm, and professional without ever being overbearing. They know how to make the night feel special from start to finish. Overall: La Cappella is a standout in a city full of amazing restaurants. It's romantic, emotional, and unforgettable--the kind of place you'll want to return to. If you're looking to celebrate something special (or just want a beautiful night out), this place is more than worth it.

Yelp
I am a foodie and I can safely say this was the best meal of my life. The inside of the restaurant is charming but the city views are incredible. Jared was our waiter. He was super attentive and shared the history of the restaurant. He made our anniversary special! We had 2 appetizers: fried shrimp and caprese salad. Both were great. My shrimp ravioli had the perfect amount of zest and smoothness. Please do yourself a favor. Visit this place. Enjoy.

Yelp
Nice view and most of the food was good. For the price; the lobster was large but kind of tough. They charged an extraordinary amount of money just for h20. (I'm taking 15-20 bucks just for 3 people -which is ridiculous) The violinist was fantastic and made the night pretty special. 398 usd - for 3 people and we hardly drank. No bueno. With that said; we had two large lobsters at 2k pesos each so we probably could have spent much less if we ordered a different item. The tomato shrimp soup was good. The sea bass was great. The no name cocktail was good.

Yelp
One of the most memorable dining experiences I've ever had in PV. Our waiter JOSE, made the entire meal. The service was PERFECTION. He made sure every single detail was attended to. The food is fresh, delicious and drinks are inventive and tasty. Now the view. Has to be the best view in the city. It's charming, romantic and looks directly at that gorgeous church. If the violin players are strolling, even better. Will be back soon, and again, bravo to Jose and his team for making it so memorable!

Yelp
The view was beautiful, the food was delicious and the drinks were wonderfully crafted. The entire staff was super friendly and in my opinion for everything we ordered the price was right! Pairing the espresso martini and the tiramisu was 10/10.

Yelp
La Cappella is stunning! Gorgeous views and beautiful ambiance for special nights! Made our anniversary dinner spectacular!!! Great food 10/10

Yelp
Our hotel concierge said this was a great place for dinner and that was an understatement! When you walk into this masterful place it is essentially a historic monument and is full of beautiful architecture, paintings, chandeliers and more. The view out to the church and ocean is breathtaking and watching the sunset just melts anyone. If the views were not enough, the menu was fabulous and the chef's delivery was exquisite. I had chicken piccata with veggies as I had to be gluten free (normally it comes with fettuccine). My wife had the Fruitti de Mare which was chock full of amazing seafood with mussels, scallops, lobster tail and shrimp and fabulous fettuccini alfredo. I could only have a bite of the lobster tail but my wife looked like she was in food heaven. We had lime sorbet for desert as well Tiramisu. We also had a bottle of Chianti and a few drinks and there was absolutely nothing that could have gone better. Food, service, ambiance and view! To add icing on the cake, there were two violinists playing electric violins creating a mood beyond compare. This has to be one of the most outstanding restauran experiences of my life and I will be sure to go back every time I am in PV! This is a must go to place! And, the value for all of this was truly exceptional. This was all for about $225 USD and this should be a total five star restaurant in any city around the world!

Yelp
Heard so many good things about this place which was just perfect for our visit to Puerto Vallarta. Reservations is a must, not sure if they offer walk in. It's located up in the hillside so if you're walking there, it's an uphill cobbled stone walk. From The outside, it does look like you're just in some random neighborhood but once inside, it's a completely different vibe. You enter through a walkway and greeted by the hostess. Candlelight embraces you which gives it the perfect ambiance. There's a bar to one side and the main dining area to the other. I believe there's also dining downstairs by the pool area as we seen it from the upper level. It's a pretty nice with the decors with the chapel feel. The whole restaurant is open air with views of the beach and city. I believe it's only for dinner but could be wrong. We were take care by Isaiah, who was outstanding and amazing. The sweetest and friendliest which is always a plus and made every easy. Down to drinks and food. We had a table right along the trellis which looked out to the chapel and beach. Perfect spot. Both drinks menu and dinner menu offered a good selections of dishes. We started with the lychee martini and spicy margaritas, both was excellent. Starter, the mussels in a thick tomatoes broth which was very flavorful and paired well with the seafood. Also the tuna tar tater, served different from how I'm normally used to but it was good. Seasoned well, with a sauce cucumber and tomatoes. Also had the French onion soup which was one of the special, it was ok. Nothing to rave about. Entrees, the linguine with the jumbo shrimp. The was excellent and the sizes of shrimp was great. The flavors were excellent and everyone was cooked well. Also the bolognese, that was excellent as well and flavorful. Food wise, excellent and full of flavors. Drinks, great as well. The service was amazing and excellent. Everyone was great. The view was amazing and to top it off, there was a firework show in the evening. Not sure if it was special occasions or nightly. As we were celebrating an anniversary weekend, they brought out a little platter with a sparkler and champagne to toast. The small gestures go a very long way. With this experience, and first time visit. This will definitely have us back as regular. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Service and ambiance is amazing! We had a stunning view of the city at night and were serenaded with live music! The food was amazing as well! A definite must for a nice dinner out when visiting Puerto Vallarta!

Yelp
My daughter and I arrived without a reservation and got the best table for 2 overlooking the city and church . The ambience, food and service was spectacular! We discovered the restaurant simply through google maps pictures and when we got there we were so surprised at the synchronicities that brought us there. Another memory to add to our brief but memorable trip to PV. Highly recommend this restaurant for a magical evening.

Yelp
Our family of 4 had a wonderful dinner here on Christmas Eve. The food, service and ambiance were fabulous! Everything we ordered was delicious and presented beautifully. The service team were engaging and took great care to make it a nice experience. The violinist was a joy to listen to. You can't beat the views at sunset. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Wow wow wow.. suck an amazing one of a kind experience. From the fantastic service to the amazing food and views, this is a can't miss experience. Started sharing a Ceaser Salad and finished with a delicious Fruti Del Mar with an amazing half lobster tail and butter over homemade pasta. Just amazing and truly delicious. I do wish the portions were smaller because I hated to waste some of the seafood. My partner has the Fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp that was equally delicious and an equally large portion. I guess better too much than too little. Although the desserts were tempting, I opted for a Chocolate Martini which was flawlessly done: The place also had 3 violinists which played beautifully and provided one of the best atmospheres I can remember. This place even out does The Iguana cafe. Thank you thank you thank you for one of the most wonderful memorable experiences in my lifetime.
google avatar

Isabel O.

Yelp
The service and view is amazing. We made a reservation at least 3 weeks in advance, I suggest looking up when the sunset will be and making your reservation a little before then. There were live violinists when we visited, making the experience even better. They gave us a portion of cake and a tiny violin performance for my partner's birthday! Now for the food, it's okay. You're paying for the view and the experience, not the food. It's expensive, so look at the menu online and see if it's worth it to you. We ordered the mussels appetizer and the caprese salad, the former was decent and the latter was very good. Then for our main course, my partner had the rack of lamb and I had lobster Alfredo. The rack of lamb was delicious and so tender, but I was underwhelmed with my dish. The lobster tail was cooked perfectly fine, but the Alfredo was so mediocre for an Italian restaurant. Overall, if you are without an abundance of money to spend, I'd skip here. You can most likely find a fancy dinner experience without the high cost or at least better food. If you do have money to spend, I would come here only once for your entire lifetime. Personally, I'm sure I'll visit PV again, but you won't find me at La Cappella ever again.

Karina A.

Yelp
This place is beautiful, the service is amazing, my server Ruben was such a pleasure to have, the scallops are delicious, the drinks, overall excellent service.

Yelp
The view, ambiance, and the food were out of this world. I cannot recommend this place enough. Johnathan was our waiter and he was knowledgeable on the menu (and had the most addictive little giggle). I took his recommendation on the Sea Bass and did not regret it. The food was a symphony of flavors.
google avatar

Don T.

Yelp
We visited this restaurant on a recommendation from a friend and we are so glad that we did. Everything was fantastic. We started with specialty cocktails which were very tasty. The appetizer was mussels in a heavy spicy red gravy. They were huge and i still think about that sauce to this day. i had a steak entree and my husband had a shrimp and pasta entree. Both were phenomenal. We will definitely go back when we visit Puerto Vallarta the next time.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant was so amazing. Great treat for a date night or special occasion. I went on a Saturday night and had a lovely dinner. Super romantic with views of a giant Cathedral and live music at the restaurant. The ceiling of parts of the restaurant even reminded me of the Sistine Chapel. It was Italian style with some American classics. Bread came at the table served with oil and vinegar for dipping. We started with a Caesar salad and then shared "Linguine con Gambaretti Gigante" - jumbo shrimp pasta with lemon butter sauce, and "Filetto Di Legna Da Ardere" - Filet mignon served with a goat cheese stuffed ancho chile over mashed potatoes. The Caesar salad was super fresh and the croutons were nice and crunchy. The shrimp pasta was delicious, the sauce was rich yet crisp and refreshing from the lemon. Loved the meat, it was cooked perfectly medium rare and the chile with goat cheese added a nice, unexpected touch. We finished with a chocolate lava cake which had a lovely pour of molten chocolate from within. The live music made it a really unique experience and it almost felt like we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Service was excellent; our food all came out hot and on time. I would definitely want to come back every time I visit PV!

Yelp
My friends and I were staying at a resort on the beach but wanted a special night out for my friend's birthday. We managed to get a reservation for 8:45pm the following night, Nov 10. Oh, goodness the ride thru town was so bumpy on those cobblestone streets! But it was a fun ride. When you arrive at the entrance, there are a few stairs (I think about these things now that my son uses a walker and stairs can be tricky). Lots of photo ops along the path to the door. We were seated immediately by one of the friendly hosts. A nice table, in the middle of things and with a great view of everything - the night sky, the fireworks, the servers doing their thing. Our drink orders were taken and 2 out of 3 of us didn't care for ours so we ordered again. Still not what we expected, but we drank them anyway, lol. We were brought bread and dipping oils while we selected our dinner. The bread was good. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo with chicken and I have to say that although many yelpers thought the pasta stale or 'store-bought, I found it some of the smoothest & tastiest that I've ever had! The sauce and the chicken were both very good, very tasty. My friend ordered the tomato soup for an appetizer and said it was delicious. The shrimp ingredient was wonderful. My other friend ordered the pork ossobuco and told us it was very good. she was familiar with the dish so she could compare to others she had had and really liked the way it was prepared here. The ambience of the place - wow. We were seated in a dining room that just a few feet away allowed us a great sky view. There were many birthdays that night, which - yes, did include much singing, ha! There were violinists who strolled around playing here and there but not continually, so it was nice. They brought my friend a nice cake presentation for her birthday! Our server also agreed to take a photo of us in front of the fountain, which is in another room. Speaking of other rooms, there is a very nice bar area off to the side when you approach the host desk. There also appears to be another dining area past our main dining area. Fun place. Don't expect the world, just go and enjoy. The servers do their very best to please and that right there made up for any shortcomings elsewhere.

Yelp
This place is stunning. The service is top-notch and the ambience is just gorgeous sitting in the dining hall looking over the church at the sunset. Will take your breath away. You'll leave with amazing pictures. There was live music, while we were there, a string quartet. The food was phenomenal. Most of our group got the shrimp linguine. The Caprese was also fabulous. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Whole initially concerned we could get a table, as it was last minute, we did, and it had an amazing view if the sunset and later fireworks!! Service was very good, not obtrusive but also not left wanting. If the food had been mediocre, it would have been a good experience, but the food was outstanding! One of the best meals I have had in Mexico!
google avatar

Yelp
A simply gorgeous restaurant with beautiful views of the city and Parroquia de Nuestea Senora de Guadalupe. We loved the open seating on the terrace and the violinist's playing throughout the evening. We started with Expresso Martinis and they were wonderful. The wine list is solid and we always go with a Mexican Red and this too didn't disappoint. We each had the Linguine Con Gamberi and it was delicious. A must have and highly recommend. You need to plan and make reservations, but this is a must stop. Great service and we will absolutely be back when we return to PV!

Yelp
It's just superb! For an unbelievable dinner in a renovated church overlooking the ocean and village church with a magnificent sunset and pastel skies, I kept pinching myself that it was real and so so special. Service was outstanding, and ambience exquisite. The two violinists serenaded us with classic popular tunes for most of the evening. The adorable young couple next to us just got engaged here. Wow! So sweet! The food from our burrata tomato salad to our catch of the day - red snapper with grilled pineapple salad and grilled veggies , the Ossobuco over mashed potatoes and asparagus and the stupendous desserts- cheesecake and the cannolis with each having a scoop of vanilla ice cream were amazing. We also had decaf latte and cappuccino. It was a very memorable dinner event. We have eaten here several times over the years since we have been coming to Puerto Vallarta on vacation. It's an experience you don't want to miss.

Yelp
Set high above Puerto Vallarta with sweeping views of the ocean and the iconic crown of the Guadalupe Church, La Capella's setting is one of a kind. The open-air terrace brings an elegance that feels both relaxed and luxurious. It's the kind of place where you can settle in for a multi-course meal while the sun sets, surrounded by beautiful architecture and the sounds of a live violinist playing classical tunes. Honestly, the location alone makes it a must-visit, but the food and service take it to the next level. It was a different feel to view it when earlier in the week, we were told on a tour that the crown was a replica of the Queen's and how it was still standing after the earthquake. The menu is predominantly Italian, and from a Bay Area perspective--where we're spoiled by fresh, seasonal ingredients--the food at La Capella holds its own. Every dish is crafted with an attention to detail that shows real mastery in the kitchen. The seafood is incredibly fresh, the pastas are house-made, and the sauces are perfectly balanced, whether it's a light, citrusy lemon-butter sauce on the shrimp or a rich, earthy reduction on a filet mignon. As someone who appreciates the craftsmanship behind food, I was impressed by how well La Capella nails texture and flavor. The dishes aren't overworked, but you can tell that every element has been considered--from the crispness of the grilled vegetables to the tenderness of their meats. And yes, if you're a fan of wine pairings, their selections are top-notch, with both local and international options that elevate the meal. The linguine is a masterclass in simplicity and flavor. Al dente, as it should be, the pasta is perfectly coated in a light sauce that strikes a balance between richness and freshness. The olive oil and herbs bring out the natural flavors of the seafood, which, by the way, is incredibly fresh. The subtle zest of lemon enhances the delicate sweetness of the shrimp and clams, making each bite a burst of bright, clean flavor. It's the kind of dish that shows real craftsmanship--nothing too heavy, but every element is in harmony. The Carpaccio, meanwhile, is a must for anyone who appreciates the fine balance of texture and flavor. The beef is paper-thin, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and delicately seasoned. The olive oil used is clearly high quality, enhancing the richness of the meat without overpowering it. What sets this carpaccio apart is how well the accompanying elements--capers, arugula, and shaved parmesan--come together, offering a contrast of tang, pepper, and creaminess. This dish feels luxurious without being overdone, and it's a prime example of how La Capella elevates classic Italian dishes. AND THE CHEESE FOAM OMG. This is where La Capella shines even brighter. The staff is incredibly attentive, but not overbearing--a tough balance to strike in fine dining. The pacing of the meal was perfect, and the staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations without any pressure. And on top of that...we were a bit disruptive to say the least. We were sober but I feel like the table size was a bit claustrophobic for 4 fat ineloquent Americans. That is just US though, nothing to discount the restaurant. Just something to keep in mind when you're dining here is to be careful in tipping things. I could write more but all the drinks were good. I got the malacuyo . Overall, La Capella's food and drink offerings are carefully crafted to enhance the magical atmosphere of the place, with dishes like the linguine and carpaccio standing out as unforgettable highlights of the dining experience.

Yelp
Come for the view. Enjoy classical renditions of your favorite gay pop songs. And order the most tender octopus you've ever had. La Capella is amazing for the view and over the top dining room with statues of religious figures. Its italian. I had one of the most tender octopus dishes I've ever had. Its not a cheap place but nice for a special occasion (there were three birthdays celebrated the evening we were there) or if you just want a nice dinner while on vacation. Ive dined there twice in two consecutive years and both times the food was great. Its on the expensive side but I think of the expensive restaurants in PV this one and La Palapa are the ones that are most worth it. Service was very attentive and the musicians are a nice touch.

Yelp
We almost didn't come here BUT I am so happy we did. The energy at this restaurant was so lively. They had live violinist going around! The view was also insane - the church looked amazing! Our food was delicious. We got Alfredo pasta (very creamy) with chicken and lasagna. We ended the dinner with cannolis, so yummy!! The service was good/friendly and they were extremely fast at getting our food out. We didn't have to wait long!! Must try in PV!!!

Yelp
On 4/23/25, we celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary at La Capella. The ambience is amazing & romantic. The service is spectacular and food wine was amazing. The server asked what type of water. Then returned with cucumber, orange and lemon slices for our water. First course - beautiful & delicious Cesar salad. Main entrees. warm bread with delicious olive oil & balsamic with cheese. 1. Salmon with orange sauce with roasted potatoes, carrots & green beans. 2. Garlic large prawns with linguine. Both were so delicious. There was two violinist who were amazing. This is a one of a kind special place for dinner. We loved the restaurant and will come back next year. Our server gave us the best service. Thank for a spectacular dinner experience.

Yelp
We made a reservation and were seated right away. The restaurant was busy. We started off with these amazing mussels. The pasta and lasagna were both really good, they did NOT leave me feeling bloated at all, like some restaurants do. We made the reservation at 6:30 and were able to see the sunset, such an amazing view, especially with the violist playing.

Yelp
I took the Mrs. To La Cappella last night for her birthday. We last dined at La Cappella back in 2022 while on a cruise and we've been wanting to come back ever since. Our first dining experience in 2022 was for lunch and it was exceptional. The same can be said for last nights dining experience. La Cappella definitely has a different vibe at night. I read about it being romantic but that was an understatement. I don't know that I've been to a more romantic restaurant in my life. There were violinists roaming between the tables. At times I felt like I was in Bridgerton or the Adams Family. Our reservation was for 8:15 but we decided to arrive early to have a drink at the bar. The view from the bar is stunning. The hostess approached us well before our reservation time and asked if we wanted to be seated. We said no at first but then she said she had a really great table for us and it was indeed a great table. Right on the edge of the patio with sweeping views of the city and Banderas Bay just as the sun started to set. Our waiter let us enjoy our cocktails and settle in while we looked over the menu. The Mrs. started with the Burrata Salad. So good and refreshing. I started with the Crema Di Pomodoro E Gamberetti which was the same soup I had during our previous visit which is a light creamy tomato soup served with sautéed shrimp and perfumed with Grappa. This time it was served with crostini which I loved. Just know that this soup is a very rich starter and can easily fill you up. After we finished our starters and ordered more drinks I asked the waiter if he could hold off about 20 minutes before firing our mains. He said yes but I really expected them to come out in a hurry despite my request. That has just been my experience. Surprisingly, our mains arrived 30 minutes later which was perfect! The Mrs. order the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. It was really good and rich. The shrimp were huge. I ordered the Pork Osso Buco Alla Marsala which was a slow-cooked pork leg, served with creamy polenta and Marsala sauce, featuring mushrooms and green apples. It was INCREDIBLE. I literally pulled the bone out of the meat and there was no resistance. I didn't need a knife. The polenta mixed with the Marsala sauce was rich. I loved it! Aside from the incredible food, La Capella atmosphere. Not just in its decor but the staff who work so hard to make every diners experience a special one. Muchas Gracias La Capella! See you next time!
