La Carreta Tacos y Tortas

We discovered La Carreta at their food truck when it was on 40. My husband found they had California burritos 🌯, which are hard to come by in Maryland. We lived in California a few years and loved them. Went today to the BP to get some burritos 🌯. Never disappoints. Always so good! Definitely try it out!

Ignore that you're in a BP lol the food here is delicious. I usually get the burrito bowl out of convenience. Reasonable prices and fast turnaround if you're trying eat on your lunch break. They have a couple of small tables you can sit at if you want to, but I've always gotten this as takeout.

First time here, and I just had the absolute best shrimp tacos ever! Big shrimp, lots of flavor and two special sauces, plus the yummy chips!

What a hole in the wall! Found inside the BP gas station, I can't believe I haven't been here before. The food is the best Mexican in Middletown. Service is very friendly.

Look, the place is at a gas station. But you're going to get over that, because you're about to enjoy some of the best damn Mexican food ever. I drive by it almost every week and didn't even realize it was there. It's one of my new favorite places now. The tortilla chips taste and look like they're fresh made, the food is excellent flavor, delicious, and overall amazing. Just go, really.

Hands down the best Mexican food on the east coast. This place rivals Southern California Mexican food. I can’t recommend this place any more.

Tacos de carne asada were out of this world!! so delicious and the orange hot sauce was my favorite. Good prices too

One of the best tortas I’ve ever had and I have had MANY over the years. Excellent service and food every time. I would normally expect a place like this to expand into a larger restaurant but I don’t want a single thing to change. You’re perfect.

FINALLY a place with good Mexican "taco shop" style food! Being from San Diego, I didn't realize how "spoiled" we were with good Mexican food everywhere until moving here. I was beginning to lose hope, but this place is GOOD! My husband and I got a few things to try and share together: California Burrito, Tacos Dorados, and Birria Tacos. The Cali Burrito sounded attractive because it is made very similarly to taco shops back home. The carne asada had a good flavor and overall, the burrito was tasty. It was a decent size as well! I wish I had gotten a photo of it before we demolished it lol. I loved getting rolled tacos, so the Tacos Dorados were the closest thing and they were so good!! I asked to add guacamole on top and would highly recommend. SO good. The birria tacos were very flavorful!! The consumé was also flavored nicely. They were also stuffed with meat and cheese! They give you a red salsa and a green salsa. Both are very good! I can't tell which one is spicier because I used them both simultaneously. They also serve you chips and pico with your order! I'm so glad this spot opened up! I will DEFINITELY be back for more. Note: it is inside the gas station, to the left as soon as you walk in.

These guys were at Monocacy Brewing and we decided to try some of the food from them. Taco trucks can be hit or miss, but La Carreta is a solid winner! First off - birria tacos were legit. Real deal. Greasy, cheesy, and filling. The consomé was a perfect accompaniment. We also got some tacos dorados. I thought they'd just be crunchy Tex-Mex-style tacos, but instead they were more like taquitos. Nothing bad, just not what I expected. They had a delicious filling and a pleasant crunch. They came with a nice mini salad as well. My wife enjoyed her quesadilla al pastor. Everything was authentic and delicious. Fairly priced and a reasonable waiting time. Would totally eat here again.

This is the spot to find tacos like in California food is very good they have a little spot inside the gas station market. Well worth the visit. This is my spot when I'm not cooking dinner.

The food was amazing, my family and I went based on a review such a great choice. Very calm and friendly ambiance. The gentleman who took our order very friendly and took time to tell us what was on the menu! Very decent prices.

They recently opened a brick and mortar in Middletown and let me tell you... it rocks. Since we recently moved from the west coast, I have been looking for a spot that reminds me of the Mexican food I've missed. We've ordered quesadillas, birra tacos, the ramen, different burritos and sides. Absolutely everything has delicious. The staff is super friendly, able to easily make accommodations, and excited about new menu items coming. Def a regular easy dinner for our family. FYI- the gas station their in isn't the ritz

Excellent food and service. A hidden jewel tucked inside the BP gas station in Middletown. We got an order of the Birria Tacos and the Tacos Dorados. As someone had mentioned we requested some guacamole on top of the Tacos Dorados. Both were outstanding. Highly recommend you check them out.

Holly crap... Chipotle, never again. Middletown now has the best Mexican food. A hidden gem in the most unexpected of places, the BP gas station on main street. Please give them a try and help them succeed. We want them to stay.

Was not prepared for how delicious this was! Turns out the owner is the same person that had a food truck I always wanted to try. Now I can find them any time I want and I'm so happy! Everything is so fresh, made to order, and better than any other Mexican food I've had in years. I got a burrito bowl and my son got a surf and turf burrito. A small package of still-hot chips were thrown in. I'll be back - often.

Stopped by today while at the park with my boys. Ordered the birria taco's and was not disappointed. Took a short 5 minutes to put together, and the taste was outstanding!!! Each order comes with three tacos. Each one is stuffed with meat and cheese and topped with white onion and cilantro. Served with a large side of consomé and a spicy sauce and a green sauce. I did not try the green sauce but the spicy one was delicious. I LOVED them so much that I went back and ordered two more orders for later. Highly recommend that if you see them around town you stop in and order yourself some.

I had the nachos. Not like the pictures on the truck at all. This was not authentic Mexican food. Store-bought tortilla chips, movie theater cheese ooze, plain meat, no guac, no sauces very little flavor except from the few bits of very mild pico de gallo. I was starving so I ate it but it wasn't great.

A nice surprising find at the Springfield Manor Winery Distillery Brewery. Excellent food and fresh ingredients. Will definitely get again!
