My husband and I just stayed at La Casa Del Camino for a staycation and ate at The Rooftop restaurant for dinner. We loved it so much that we went there again for lunch the next day! I'll share some of the things we experienced while there:
The entire hotel has a historic vibe throughout, but in a classy way. The lobby is very cozy and it even has a private courtyard area. We stayed in one of the Spanish-themed rooms, which was clean with a little ocean view. It had 1 queen bed and typical things you need (robe, hair dryer, safe, iron, toiletries, mini fridge, etc.)
When we arrived, we parked at the free lot across the street (about 1 block, you can see the hotel from the parking lot). We walked over to the hotel and then it was super quick and easy to check into our room. We used a phone app and got into the rooms digitally, which was convenient. The staff were very kind and welcoming the entire trip, which always makes an experience better! We did make dinner reservations at The Rooftop for 6:30pm, but walked around the town and did some shopping beforehand - the hotel is in a great location for that! Once at dinner, we were sat immediately and the waitress was quick to take care of us. We sat right against the glass and had the perfect view of the beach, mountains, and sunset - the ideal dinner spot.
For dinner, we ordered:
1. Fried Brussels Sprouts (SO GOOD, I will definitely be back for these - one of the best fried brussels I've had and I basically hogged the entire thing of these).
2. Ahi Poke (great portion and loved the chips it came with too).
3. Fried Coconut Shrimp (very good, it came with 6 so we each ate 3).
4. La Casa Burger (my husband ordered this and I went to have a bite... and then I ended up eating more than a bite because it was SO GOOD).
5. Tiramisu (SOOO good - I was worried it would be a lot more rich and I'm glad it wasn't. It was cooked to perfection and so yummy!)
I ordered the Berry Mojito and it was SO good that I ordered 2. He ordered the Thousand Steps IPA (he loves IPA so of course it was good).
The sun went down as we ate dinner and they had heaters all around, so we weren't cold. The staff even offered everyone a warm blanket just in case, which was very thoughtful of them to do! The entire dinner experience was amazing. Afterwards, it was so convenient to go back downstairs straight to our room. It was quiet the entire night and a really comfortable stay.
When we woke up the next morning, there was complimentary coffee and some breakfast items near the lobby area. We checked out at 11:30am and were able to leave our bags with the staff members in the lobby while we went back up to the rooftop for lunch! We made reservations for 12pm but they were able to get us in earlier. We sat against the glass again and got great views of the ocean and got to see so many dolphins!
For lunch, we ordered:
1. Cheese and Charcuterie (I'm a huge charcuterie fan so I knew I'd love it -- they had the perfect mixture of sweet and savory and the honeycomb was the perfect cherry on top - highly recommend getting this).
2. Thai Chicken Salad (it was a great portion for 1 and wasn't too heavy at all).
3. Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich (this is what my husband ordered and he loved it).
4. Creme Brulee (this was the perfect amount of sweet, not too heavy, and so delicious. We ate the entire thing in less than 2 minutes LOL).
For lunch drinks, I had a berry mojito mocktail (the berry mojito was so good the night before and I wanted it without the alcohol), and it was so good. He ordered the Island Old Fashion and thought it was so amazing that he ended up drinking 2.
I will definitely be back here and recommend it if you're ever in the area!
