La Casa Norte

I am gratefull from the bottom of my heart but not thankful that you give expired food, I am tired to get home and trowing away food, why you do that, we ARE PEOPLE, NOT ANIMALS. A ham that was to sell by on June 10 2025, and you give it to me on November 2025? What a shame.

I was never a resident at La Casa Norte, but I had to go there to retrieve my belongings from someone they housed. That individual moved his entire family into a one-bedroom unit, and when I came to collect my things, staff only allowed me to take one bag even though I had more. Worse, they disclosed my private intentions to that person, which put me at risk. Their handling of the situation was unsafe, unprofessional, and deeply disappointing. An organization that serves vulnerable populations should act with more care and responsibility.

Great organization doing outstanding work in the community, love that they have a Howard Brown and Food Pantry in the same building.

Great place to look for anything

This place has helped me immensely. Thanks to La Casa Norte, I have always had plenty of good fresh foods to eat, among other help. Very nice people I worked alongside of when I did volunteer work. Hope to see staff again soon.

Love them! So caring and nurturing

These people almost killed me. I had been approved housing for a room. The enthusiasm when I arrived from staff was bad. End of story I get removed from my room no time to prepare just thrown out. End up at o hare airport to stay warm and man does it get even more worse.

They help people... Donate clothes, money or your time to them. This is a great Chicago organization that aids it's community and citizens. They have been helping the Humboldt Park community for years and will continue to with future donors.

Super friendly little charity. If you have a collection hotel toiletries, this is the place to take them, or the pile of free toothbrushes your dentist gives you. Clothes and school supplies are also a plus. Super sweet folks, they will probably ask to take your photo with your donations so they can post it on their Facebook page.

not a great experience. one of their tenants left my properties trashed and without notice. the agency didn't help to clean anything up or offer to fill the unit again. pretty disappointing.

I'm sure they do some good work, but dealing with them was a disaster for me. I agreed to rent to a client of theirs who brought bedbugs into the apartment via a used couch she purchased the previous day. She was asked to get rid of the couch and refused. I reached out to the Casemanager, Luis, who did not help her or pressure her to get rid of the couch. I had to exterminate a total of 5 times. With Luis knowledge, she moved another adult in who was not on the lease. Her children were destructive- writing all over the walls and destroying the blinds, all with Luis' knowledge. She let her 13 year old and 5 year old take the dog, into the yard and poop all over. It also pooped in the apartment. She let the kids take out the garbage and they just dumped unsealed bags onto the ground earning me a citation and fine from the city, again all with Luis' knowledge . Round about June, the agency failed to pay rent for three months, nor did they pay late fees when they caught up. And the list goes on. Now that they owe more than their security deposit, they refuse to even contact me. I would expect an agency like this to have some integrity, but they have none when it comes to the landlords that agree to rent to them!
