La Casa que Canta (Zihuatanejo, Guerrero) 2 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If the scale of Mexican mass tourism puts you off, you’ve got options — Zihuatanejo, just four miles down the coast from Ixtapa, was until recently little more than a quiet fishing village, and even now is steeped in the kind of small-town charm Ixtapa never had." - Tablet Hotels

The architecture of the hotel is truly amazing, blending so organically into the surrounding nature, allowing you to feel connected to Mexico's beauty. It's a very quiet place, and we felt a sense of being transported back in time – that classic, unhurried feel is certainly still present there, which we appreciated. |We stayed at the master pool suite called Mariquita Linda #20, and were very pleased with it. The hotel and the room itself are actually more spacious than they appear in photos, which was a nice surprise. The daily housekeeping was excellent, always keeping our space tidy, and the room service was very prompt. Not to mention, our nightly flower arrangement turndowns were a particular highlight. We loved our balcony and the pool, from which we had a nice view of the bay. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay comfortable.

I am from Los Angeles and travel alot. This hotel exceeded all of the places I have ever visited and here’s why: -The Views: 100/10. You oversee the Pacific Ocean and watch the sunset go down into the hills. The hotel is high up where you can overlook into the beaches across town and see the lights, boats, etc. -The design/architecture of the hotel is gorgeous. The color scheme, the perfectly curated rooms with detailed engravings make you feel like you’re in heaven. -The staff is the most friendliest, kindest, respectful, caring staff I have ever met. They are so knowledgeable about the town, the hotel, etc. and take their time making sure you are well accommodated. The staff felt like family & definitely made the stay one of a kind. Because many of them have worked there for 30 years, they truly love and enjoy what they do. -The pool side is very relaxing and sits at a place where you have the clearest view of the ocean. Truly a magical place.

While the views from La Casa Que Canta were breathtaking and most of the staff were very friendly, my overall experience fell far short of what you would expect from a 5-star or Michelin-star property. • Unlike most luxury hotels, the property was not flexible or accommodating. They declined my request to change dates and told me to “refer back to the booking site.” • Adding one extra guest was quoted at $130 per night, despite this not being an all-inclusive hotel. • The property manager was unwelcoming, setting a poor tone from the start. • Food at the on-site restaurant was overpriced and, worse, it made us sick. • The hotel charges $65 for a taxi to the airport, which is not even a private car but a regular city taxi - a 160% markup compared to booking directly. • The massage therapist was unavailable during our stay, which was disappointing given the level of service this hotel claims to offer. Overall, the property left much to be desired for a place that advertises itself as 5-star and Michelin-worthy. Unfortunately, I cannot say I’ll be returning.

La Casa Que Canta is beautiful. The food is delicious. The spa is excellent. The people are the best! Don't hesitate choosing this resort; you will not regret it. We must thank Teresa, Ana, Elion, Tony, Laura, Dina, Carlos, Irving, and Leonardo for for being lovely and kind people, and for making this experience better than I hoped for. We look forward to returning and spending more time in such a lovely place.

My husband and I needed a break and booked this trip two days before we left. This hotel did not disappointment. It hasn’t even been a full 24 hours and we were already feeling decompressed and fantastic. The staff are all very kind. Special thanks to Teresa for coordinating the special seafood pozole. There were only two rooms left when I booked and I selected an ocean suite and it was on a high floor with a fantastic view. The room was spacious, AC worked great, large bathroom/shower and a great sitting area. The hotel is very close to playa de ropa which is perfect. It is also close to the main town. ||I really cannot recommend this hotel enough.

One of the most amazing hotels I have ever seen. You WILL NOT be disappointed. We had a group of clients stay there and we hosted some business meetings on-site. Service was ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ all the way around. If you are thinking of booking here... Just do it.

Google
I honestly felt like I was a celebrity during my stay. It’s not a large place so there aren’t a lot of other guests. When you need something special, they go to lengths to arrange it, just ask. For example, they packed a fruit breakfast for me to take snorkeling. The food at the restaurant is amazing. VERY easy walk to the neighboring beach, and (as long as it’s not too hot) an easy 25 minute walk to town. And the views… just amazing. If you’re an English speaker and nervous at all about traveling, this is your place. Zihua is an easy airport to navigate, easy cab to hotel, everyone speaks English even in town. Casa que Canta is an excellent, relaxing, quiet, safe, scenic place to stay.

Yelp
2/17/23 3* La Casa Que Canta restaurant Since Covid, the place has lost part of its charm While there is a token Mexican presence, the restaurant caters to tourists The table side demonstration of homemade chile may be a novelty to foreigners, but not to natives and certainly not as good Overall, the food was bland. The tuna was really not fit to eat The service was okay, but the waiter was pushy in trying to get us to order Nice wines by the glass Tasty desserts. Probably will not come back

Yelp
Beautiful stay, beautiful grounds and beautiful people! We had the best time at La Casa Que Canta, the grounds are so stunning. The real life Encanto house! Incredible food and the staff was so attentive. Wether we stayed in at our private pool with room service or dined in at the hotel restaurant the food was always too notch. Best hotel in Zihuatanejo! Five stars!

Yelp
Everyone has their own quintessential vacation. Similarly, each of us has a different picture in our mind when we hear the word relaxation. For me, both the quintessential vacation and definition of relaxation, is now La Casa Que Canta in Zihuatanejo. This piece of paradise is built above the rocky shore of the Zihautanejo Bay. Each suite is unique in its design and they all have extraordinary views of the bay, and the ocean beyond. Each has an accompanying veranda with comfortable padded deck furniture. Some even include private pools on the veranda. We spent hours each day just sitting on our veranda enjoying coffee while reading and taking in the views of the beach and the ocean. The rooms are each situated in such a way that privacy is guaranteed with no balcony being directly visible to anyone in another room. The staff is extra attentive in their service. Many times we found that they had anticipated our needs before we even thought to ask. Every service is provided with a smile and a friendly greeting. There is both a freshwater and saltwater pool on different levels in the common area of the grounds. Each overlooks the ocean and the freshwater pool has an infinity design that produces some remarkable photographs. The red tile patio has intricate river rock inlays throughout the grounds showing an attention to detail and artistry in the design. There are also wooden lounge chairs with soft padding on multiple levels of the patio each with an umbrella close by and an exquisite view. There is a well equipped exercise room with all of the current fitness machines found in any gym. There are large windows in the exercise room that also face the wonderful ocean view. It feels like you are outside on the beach while you workout! There is wonderful artwork from many different artists representing different regions around Mexico decorating each suite as well as the common areas of La Casa. There are no TV's in any of the rooms encouraging each guest to disconnect and enjoy the comforts of their surroundings. There are TV's in the exercise room as well as in the "TV room" for those who have a hard time going cold turkey. Truthfully, we spent six days here and did not miss having a TV in our room once. There is direct access to the beach which allow for long walks on powdery sand as well as the usual beach activities. Downtown Zihautanejo is also a short walk down the hill where you can explore the market, many restaurants, galleries, and souvenir shops. The variety of artwork and crafts available here is breathtaking and very tempting but much of it will not fit in a carry on bag! Fortunately, a delicious option for meals is the Mar y Cielo, which is the restaurant on the grounds of La Casa. The food there is exceptional and the menu changes daily allowing for sampling a variety of dishes during a stay. We fell in love with La Casa Que Canta during our stay and are already making plans for our next visit and we haven't even checked out from our first stay yet!

Yelp
When you go to Zihua to relax, this is the place! From the friendly staff that offers a cool, moist towel to refreshen from the heat & humidity, to the welcoming guacamole & chips with tequila & beer in your room, and the charming turn-down service. And this is just the opening welcome! The infinity pool is extravagant, the salt water pool is refreshing and buoyant. There are several areas to lounge in the sun or shade where waiters can deliver drinks or food, but at minimum give free lime, iced water. Rooms have AC and private balconies. There is an AV room and separate conf room. My friends held their wedding there and are contemplating their child's wedding also Every day I found something new in the details of how it is decorated. The art and statues are tasteful, the stone paths are unique and designed with care. Highly recommended, can't wait to return!

Yelp
Third time staying here. Casa is more beautiful every time I visit her. I could write ten pages about how much I love Casa but that would take all day to type. Instead I'll make one mention of a special service they provided. First night my daughter came out of the shower upset that she forgot her brush.. The front desk offered to drive to town the next day and buy her one. But, she needed one right then. The young lady at the front desk understanding the drama of a 16 year old and a dad in distress went into her bag and gave us her personal brush to borrow.. Service beyond expectations is the Casa experience. Thank you to Teresa and all my friends at La Casa. I will be back as soon as I am able.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed in the penthouse at one of the Villas at LCQC. In our Villa, there are three rooms. The penthouse at the top and the two beautiful rooms as well beneath the penthouse. The elevator went straight into our room. We had fresh flower arrangements, fruit, fully stocked amenities, three terraces, one which included a mini plunge pool.We had a panaramic view of the Bay. And since no one else was staying in our villa, we got the whole villa to ourselves. The Villa included Butler services, with our own chef, ready to cook us practically everything we wanted. The decor is so tasteful. The Villa was clean, spacious, and beautiful. I can go on and on, this place is heaven on Earth. If you are considering it, now's the Time while it's 50 percent off. The food, coffee, and drinks were delicious. I loved that it was steps away from the most beautiful black ropa beach.

Yelp
If you're looking to rest and relax this place is Perfection!! Could not have asked for more! Our suite was nothing less than exceptional!!! Loved our view, service, food, atmosphere and couldn't complain about that perfect Mexico sun!!! Stayed 3days 4nights. Location is just a short ride to downtown or other restaurants about 15 minute ride to airport. Not that you have to leave, but if you want to explore u have that option to. Definitely like to come back. #R&R #mexico

Yelp
Weak Peso, lets go to Mexico off season where we have not been before. Amy Parker, Virtuoso Pro Travel suggested a non stop flight from LAX to Zihua. We wanted to take a break and didn't need excursions or long airport to resort travel times. 4 nights and five days felt like I would never remember my login ID at work. This place is heaven away from my usual concrete jungle called Los Angeles. Wonderful service, food, and the property is to die for and with a 19.35 USD/mxd exchange rate hotel Martinis are $6USD! The private yoga service provide by Pilar de Ixtapa by our private infinity pool (less than $100 USD total) was sublime in itself. Go Girl. This was a surprise b-day present for my GF and they outperformed. Nos Vemos La casa que Canta!

Yelp
Simply Splendid I am currently staying at this hotel in a Master Suite. Everything about it is perfect including the large terrace with two lounge chairs , a couch and a beautiful table and two chairs. The bathroom is giant and well appointed with a large walkin shower. The soaps are all natural and aromatic. The artwork is stunning and every day the made makes a beautiful flower arrangement on your bed. The infinity pools could not be more lovely. While you are lounging drinks show up magically. The staff could not be more accommodating. It will be a sad day on Friday when we check out. This hotel is a sophisticated but warm hidden treasure. A must stay!!! I have been at many quality hotels and this is by far my favorite. Their website does not do it justice.

Yelp
There are not enough superlatives in either the English or the Spanish languages to give proper praise to La Casa que Canta. The hotel itself is superbly designed and maintained. The food at its restaurant, Mar y Cielo, is without par. But of all the gems at La Casa que Canta the crown jewel is the staff. They made our stay an unforgettable vacation. Each staff member paid meticulous attention to the details that matter. Staff greeted us by name, made sure that we were having an enjoyable stay, and were always helpful, polite, and courteous. I cannot wait to come back.

Yelp
READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO TO THIS HOTEL: We came to this hotel the past three years and spent almost US$100,000. Tonight we went there for dinner when one of their guests first turn d our table and got my husband's leg injured with broken glasses and then attacked my husband and punched him, and when I jumped in to stop him he punched me n the ear and neck. I was in pain and tears, but their staff did not call the police and ambulance for 2 hours. They ganged up and finally a guy named Santiago cane and told me "maybe you gave him a reason to punch you". Finally we called our friends in Zihuatanejo to call the police and come to our rescue. I'm so disappointed, I used to refer people to this hotel but this is a place that you may die and they may dispose your body. Thanks to our friends who came over and even followed us to the hospital. There is no trace of humanity in the people in this hotel.

R G.

Yelp
Best hotel in town and the restaurant is excellent too. Its really expensive but worth it. If you are looking for a romantic get away or dinner this is the place. Hands down best of the best in Zihua maybe in all of Mexico too.

Nico R.

Yelp
My wife and I just returned from a trip here. We had an amazing time. The hotel is built into the cliffs on the water, and just steps from a great beach. The room was beautiful and private with a great view. The pools are amazing. There are lots of little hideaways so even at full capacity it can feel like your own private hotel. As beautiful as the property is, the best part of the hotel is the service. Possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed at service wise. The attention to detail couldn't get any better, and every staff member is friendly and very good at their job. Everyone knew our name by the second day. We hope to go back ASAP!

Yelp
La Casa Que Canta does the three Rs...Relaxation, Romance, and Rejuvenation...to a T. This property isn't about recreational activities and bar scenes (which are available in town if you desire), but it is all about making you feel as relaxed and pampered as possible in an unbelievable private setting. After hearing nothing but rave reviews from good friends who have escaped to here for years, my wife and I took the plunge (literally) for a wedding anniversary getaway and enjoyed our gorgeous suite with its own private terrace and infinity pool for five wonderful days and nights. From the moment you enter La Casa the staff makes you feel welcomed to their home. With just 24 suites on the property you really do feel as though you are staying in a large private cliff-side residence. Within a day every staff member knew our names and made us feel like we were visiting personal friends. From Teresa the manager to Denis our daily cuisine adviser (waiter) and every other person we encountered, the entire staff was so attuned to our every need, equally comfortable in sitting down with us in an extended conversation to share their love for their culture and to give whatever local advice we desired, to simply offering a warm "hola y buenos dias" whenever our paths crossed. As described by other reviewers everything about this property is exquisite, but also comfortable, not pretentious. Each suite occupies a single floor, built into the side of a cliff overlooking the small village of Zihuatanejo and the tranquil bay. It would be very easy to never leave your personal suite for there is absolutely nothing to want for...large bedroom, luxurious marble bathroom, terrace with large sitting area, lounge chairs, dining area, and the infinity pool...all open to the warm tropical air and sharing the same priceless views. With that said, the remainder of the property just beckons you to explore...breathtaking walkways that lead to hidden gems...two lounge chairs tucked into a private terrace with the crashing waves just feet below you, the exercise room with open floor to ceiling windows overlooking the bay and letting the calm afternoon breezes enhance your workout, the two level restaurant offering amazing views and delicious fresh local cuisine. We are now committed to making La Casa one of our yearly "must do" getaways to Relax, Romance, and Rejuvenate
