"Located two hours from Mexico City, Valle de Bravo is still a bit of a hidden gem. And one star amongst the bunch is La Casa Rodavento, the seven-suite hotel marrying old and new Mexico. Three rooms are located in the historic structure with the rest in the more recently built addition, however all feature modern furnishings and electronics." - The MICHELIN Guide

What a secret luxurious hotel tucked away like an oasis. We stayed for 3 nights in room 6 which was upstairs. Super helpful staff always. Room is fabulous, with a huge luxurious bathroom and best shower ever. Bed is so comfortable and very quiet at night time. We don't speak Spanish but the staff all tried their best to communicate with us and we all managed perfectly fine. Their restaurant is all just perfect. Highly recommend.

We stayed at Casa Rodavento for two nights so we could go see the butterfly reserve about two hours away. The hotel is really lovely with a nice bar, heated pool and upstairs hot tub. The hotel was helpful with arranging a driver for us to go see the butterflies, and making a last minute change with him to our schedule the next day. We also really appreciated their flexibility with making us an early breakfast. My only complaint is that only one staff member that I met there during our stay spoke English. We had one person in our group who spoke a bit of Spanish so that was a life saver in terms of getting information about breakfast, etc. For a hotel of this caliber though I'd expect the staff to at least have some basic English abilities.

My husband and I stayed here for a week during the summer and it was a dream. We rented a room with a balcony to work during the week. We got up early and went for walks and hikes. Loved being in this cute colonial house. The room and shared spaces are beautiful. It was quite quiet despite being in the middle of downtown. It’s walking distance from many restaurants. We had breakfast here every day and the food was tasty and good quality, the space very pleasing to sit in and the service was very friendly. The laundry service was also great and everyone at the hotel was very helpful. While here I dreamed of being able to move to Valle and work at distance - that’s how much we enjoyed our stay! Really hope to go back!

Beautiful, stylish, exquisite hotel near the center of Valle de Bravo. Rooms are furnished in modern Mexican style. Staff is welcoming and friendly. The grounds and gardens are peaceful and meticulously maintained. Restaurant was fantastic for breakfast and dinner. All you could want, and more...

I rated this hotel as excellent, because, despite a couple of drawbacks, our overall experience was wonderful. The property is so beautiful and peaceful, with professional and attentive staff. We had to contact staff a couple of times for questions and they responded immediately and were always helpful. The location is only a couple of blocks from the main plaza and close to many shops and restaurants, so we were able to walk everywhere. The pool and garden area is perfect for having a drink and relaxing after a day of touring, as is the rooftop area. The room was very attractive and I have to comment especially on the bathroom because it is so large and well designed that it really makes an impression. Now for the problem: Our room was on the far end of the hotel, the last one on the water system (as the staff later explained). This meant that no matter how long we let the water run in the bathroom sink, it never got hot unless you first primed it by running the bathtub or shower fully open in order to bring in enough volume to get the hot water to the room. Even with this solution, it took several minutes to get hot water. When I complained of no hot water in the sink, the staff was immediately attentive, explained the situation and gave us the solution, so I thank them for that. However, I don't think I should have to do special tricks to get hot water in the sink at a hotel of this quality. There are obvious solutions to this (as I know from experience) and I cannot understand why they allow this to remain as it is. Not only is it inconvenient, it wastes a lot of water and energy, which costs the hotel more. It should be addressed. A minor issue was that the area rug in the bedroom had obvious stains on it and should be cleaned. Again, not a good look for a hotel of this quality. Still, on balance, this experience was excellent, as much for the staff as for the hotel itself (including the restaurant, which I have reviewed on its own listing).

We dine at their restaurant Nuestro and it was wonderful. The food was delicious and beautifully done, as where the cocktails. The place is dreamy to say the least - the terrace has a breathtaking view. But what tights everything together is the excellent level of service, warm and professional and welcoming. ||The experience was magical beyond believe.

We stayed for the weekend in room number 5, which is a beautiful, comfortable and really well finished and decorated room. It has an interior garden or little forest that gives an extra charm to the place and also the restroom was very nice and luxurious. We were really happy inside! ||The pool was small but cozy with warm water and there is a jacuzzi in the rooftop that you can book and that means you will be alone there. I loved that. ||Personnel is very friendly and kind and they will be looking for your needs at the pool or jacuzzi. ||However, and this is the reason why I don't give it a 5, the restaurant didn't meet my expectations and I honestly think it's not accordingly to the whole place. Food was average, I got ramen and it was tasty but noodles were not well cooked and all the times we went for breakfast, dinner or snack, service was extremely slow. Kind but slow, even when the place was empty. ||They need indeed to upgrade the food service to the level of the hotel and that will make the experience complete.

Casa Rodavento Restaurant deserves 6-stars. Absolutely outstanding. Their food it’s carefully crafted to perfection. The service is equally good. I I would not change or add anything to their cocktails as they are balanced in an impossible-to-replicate way. To complete the feast, their desserts are in total synchrony with the rest of the experience: freshly made churros and a parfait-kind of creation balanced our meal. Delicious but not decadent. The parfait kept surprising us till the end with layers of wonder (won’t give away the surprise). By far, our best culinary experience in town. Absolutely recommended 👍👍👍
