My wife and I are staying in an AirBNB nearby and wanted a quick dinner.
We began dinner with guacamole, queso, and chips (happy hour specials). All of this was delicious. The guacamole was also properly salted and was my personal favorite of the two.
Our tacos were delicious. My wife had the banh mi, tempura mushroom and the brisket tacos. I had the pork, fried queso fresco, and brisket tacos. All were dressed as per the menu. The pork was tender and juicy and delicious. The slaw on top was good but lacked some sort of acid to balance out the richness of the pork. The fried queso fresco was tasteless. The cheese added texture, but it amounted to a pico and avocado taco. The brisket taco was fantastic. The ancho chiles gave a sweet heat to the juicy, slightly smoky brisket. My wife enjoyed her banh mi taco but there was a bit too much of the diced jalapeno (with seeds). She tolerates spice well, but it was a bit much for her. The tempura mushroom taco was her favorite. The mushrooms were crispy and meat and she mentioned the sauce being delicious. The sides we tried - elotes (amazing, highly recommended), roasted squash, side salad, and cucumber salad were all good. The elotes and side salad were the standouts. The elotes was perfect, but suggest serving with lime wedges. The side salad was well-dressed and the charred red peppers were a nice touch. The roasted squash and cucumber salad were both good, but needed more salt and acid and something to punch up the flavor. They were both sort of one-note and flat.
All said and done, we'd both definitely eat here again. We both enjoyed our meal and service quite well.
