A bit out of the way for some, but definitely worth going to. Out of the restaurants on this strip of Comm. Ave., I’d say that this is my favorite of the bunch. Not only does it have a full bar featuring various margaritas and Mexican cocktails, but a variety of Mexican beer as well.
The chips and salsa are great here. The salsa comes warm and is flavorful, with the chilies adding warmth rather than heat and spice up front.
Tacos are reasonably priced and in my opinion are of similar quality to Lone Star. The house-made flour tortillas are great; not too thick, not too doughy, not too moist, and they taste great on their own.
I’d recommend the tortas, which come served on some kind of Mexican bakery roll. All of them are fantastic, but require many napkins. I’d also recommend the Mexican plate to get a good baseline. Your choice of meat comes with rice, beans, and salad with the option to add 2 tortillas for $1.
The staff are and have always been very friendly, welcoming, and kind, all while bumping Mexican and Spanish-language tunes. Further, every table has both Tapatío and Cholula. They even stock more than one variety of El Yucateco. Definitely eat here.
