The multitude of reviews highlighting the racism here are fitting.
I visited with my friend and sister who is under 21. My friend and I did the restaurant week promotion which comes with a margarita and my sister just got tacos because she wasn’t that hungry.
The drinks were great, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was fantastic, and they were bumping bangers on the speaker. However, we received some of the worst service ever. Like in general at any place. We were seated for over 2 hours because we waited at least 30 minutes in between each of our courses and drinks took about the same amount of time even though there were only maybe 4 other tables. Multiple other parties came and went before we even got our entrees. Our first waitress was such a sweetheart and apologetic about timing and confusion. All of us have worked customer service jobs sometimes nights are just hard and she was so amazing about it.
But who I assume to be the manager, because of her audacious cadence, approached me at our table with an attitude off rip. She tried to tell me that because my sister didn’t order the restaurant week promotion that all of our items would be charged separately. When I explained how that doesn’t make sense and my sister is under 21 and didn’t want that much food that came with it, she tried to tell me the promotion has to be for everyone at the table, which isn’t stated on the flyer, and they would have made her a mocktail (for the same price as a cocktail). Again, that doesn’t make sense.
We planned on leaving a cash tip, but when the manager brought our bill, there was a 20% auto gratuity added which I was offended by because we did not receive 20% service. In our experiences as customer service workers, auto gratuity for restaurant service is applied when the party is large or when you think the customer isn’t going to tip. When I skipped additional gratuity and paid what I was charged, she encouraged us to come again which I probably won’t if she’s on the schedule.
Extremes disappointed to have this experience on the first day of black history month. Definitely ruined our night.
