The 10 Best Pintxos In San Sebastián’s Old Town

"If the dozens of glistening hams dangling from the ceiling wasn’t a clue, La Cepa specializes in all things jamón. Find a seat at the bar or at a table inside this cozy tavern with stained glass windows and dark wood beams that belong in Geppetto’s workshop. A visit here is all about sampling as many forms of cured pork as possible, including chewy bocadillos stuffed with ribbons of ham that melt on your tongue, creamy jamón croquettes that go hand-in-hand with a cold beer or two, and marbled slices of spicy chorizo that coat your mouth with buttery fat. The Best Pintxos in San Sebastián

"Known for excellent jamón, this bar also serves a robust Gilda that leans heavy on Guindilla pepper and olive; it’s an ideal stop for those who want a boldly flavored pintxo and, when finished, guests are often advised to pop next door for a slice of the much‑lauded Basque cheesecake." - Olivia McDowell

We popped in for a few pintxos and really liked the decor. Our table had a glass top with dried fruits and nuts inside and the beer is poured from fake Jamon legs which was fun. Jamon is hung up all around and photos on the walls show big fish caught locally etc. The pintxos was fine, we had the foie gras ravioli, deep fried prawns, which were a bit greasy and could have done with salad or sauce to break up the beige. A nice place to stop for a while.

Favourite pintxo bar in SS. wanted to try percebes but other pintxos are amazing as well. Mixto (jamon and cheese roll) was a bit disappointing. Recommend to go in the evening than lunch time. It’s busy so high possibilities that no seats available but better quality of food.

This place is terrific. Has a great local low-key feel. The tables have bright dried leaves flowers petals seeds under the glass table top and the row of hams and sausages hanging along the bar along with the rustic atmosphere makes this place a ‘find’ for me. I loved my quick stop here. I ordered shrimp that was served on a brochette and in a very light batter. Delicious.

Incredible food, amazing service and accommodating for me as a pescatarian, with allergies and meat eaters too! They have both a generous menu and daily specials. I would highly recommend the local speciality Ganbara (grilled mushroom and egg) and the baked crab. As a four we shared three starters and a main each and we were very full - the wine was also spectacular. A really special meal and highly recommend.

Thank you for a great meal. The food came fast and it was very delicious. We had someone who was vegetarian and one who could not eat gluten and one who could not eat lactose and there were options for them all 😊. The only issue was they only had one option for vegetarian options which was the potato omelette but nonetheless it was delicious 😋

This quickly became our favourite place to eat in San Sebastián. We always found a spot at the bar and enjoyed a plate of jamon and bread with a glass of delicious txakoli. The staff were very helpful and we loved all of their recommendations, including the ravioli de foie and baked crab.

We ate monk fish, it was super delicious, the best fish I have ate at restaurant. Service was perfect - fast and polite.
